But the effort to adopt a peaceful hero must be noted. While other cities or provinces of the Philippines rather tend to choose early revolutionaries or leaders of rebellions as their local heroes, the peaceful Sikatuna ranks higher on the local scale of historical personalities than the local rebel leader, Dagohoy. The city fiesta, called Sandugo (dugo is 'blood' in the Visayan dialect) commemorates the Blood Compact, not the bloody Dagohoy rebellion.

Chocolate Hills - near Carmen; Bohol's chief attraction: a group of uniformly shaped hills, 30-50m (98-164 ft) high. When the grass becomes brown in summer, the mounds resemble huge chocolate drops. Frequent buses from Tagbilaran market to Carmen.
