New Anchorage
San Fernando, the capital of La Union, is about 270km (169mi) northwest of Manila and takes about 5 hrs by bus. Just 5km (3mi) south, at Bauang, is a highly developed stretch of beach, with the New Anchorage as one of the better resorts there.
The resort is self contained with the Tradewinds Lounge for aircon dining on the catchoftheday; the Captain's Bar allows one to unwind after a day of aquatic sports including wind surfing, hobbie cat, or diving. The resort also has a registered PADI Dive Shop with an instructor. There is a game room with darts, pool and billiard tables. They also have facilities for seminars or company functions. 20 airconditioned rooms of international standard make for a comfortable stay.
Aircon and express bus coaches leave Manila daily from 6:00 to 24:00 with signboards of San Fernando, La Union, Vigan, Abra and Laoag. The New Anchorage Beach Resort sign at Bauang is the signal to get off. Reservations can be made through Tel 413793 or 413794.
