Hambantota
Between Tangalla and Hambantota a maze of rural lanes lead to a spot off the main road on a craggy promontory called the Hambantota Blow Hole where the relentless action of the pounding surf has created a narrow channel in the rock. Through this niche the force of the waves drives a spout of water high into the air at fairly regular intervals. 77kms from Matara and 238kms from Colombo, Hambantota brings up the tail end of beach.
