By road

The popular route is from the north via Kandy. The A5 winds up through the spectacular Ramboda Pass. The climb is steep especially in the latter half and there is a gradual change in the vegetation from tropical profusion to the cool green of tea bushes and pines. Fog may be encountered at times. Distance is 77 kms from Kandy.

Nuwara Eliya is also accessible from the south in case it is on your schedule after the circuiting the south and west coast beaches. Diversions can be made from the coast hugging A2 from Panadura via Ratnapura (182 kin) from Galle (290 kin) from Matara (245 kin) and from Hambantota (167 in).

By Air Helicopter services are operated to Nuwara Eliya from Colombo by domestic operators.
