Duty Free Complex: Located at the Katunayake International Airport, the Duty Free Shopping Complex houses a host of shops, many of them the authorized agencies and stockiest for all the better known brands. It enjoys the reputation of being well established with a wide range of goods at competitive prices. Goods available include wines and spirits, perfumes, cigarettes hi-fi/Stereo and audio visual equipment, cameras, toys and games, calculators, watches, carpets and a range of household appliances. All purchases at the Complex must be paid for in foreign currency, in cash or travelers checks.
Laksala: The State run Handicrafts Emporium is situated in No. 60, York Street, and Coil. Tel: 323513 The Emporium’s product range includes the spectrum of Sri Lanka’s handicrafts turned out by master craftsman of Sri Lanka. Handicrafts made in wood, brass, silver, rush & reed, natural fiber, paper mach, buffalo horn, coconut shell, cane & bamboo, household linen, batiks, embroidered garments, lace, lacquer products, toys, pottery, artificial flowers and costume jewelry, are also available under one roof.
Laksala has a network of branches in the main towns of the country. All Laksalas are open from 0900 hours to 1700 hours on working days and 0900 hours to 1600 hours on Saturdays.
