One of the area's principal cities, about two hours south of Seoul by car.

It is a major junction for the train lines and expressways connecting Seoul-Pusan and Seoul-Kwangju-Mokp'o, and is rapidly becoming one of Korea's major scientific centers.

Yusong Hot Spring Resort is located just northwest of the city.
