Peshawar
is famous for its handicrafts such as brass and copper utensils,
brass trays and samovars, silk scarves and Kashmiri shawls, Pakistani
and Afghan needle work, wax work on silk, rare rugs and carpets,
beautifully embroidered jackets and waist-coats, special kind
of slippers and sandals made from leather and embroidered with
gold and silver threads, new and antique gold and silver ornaments
and jewellery. Carpets are available both in the old city as well
in the new part of the town.
Kamran Hotel
in Khyber Bazaar is now given over entirely to carpet sellers.
In the Saddar Bazaar many Afghan shops sell Afghan antiques. The
outlet venture sponsored by the Ockenden Trust sells high quality
Afghan handicrafts.
