17 Americans Quarantined After Cruise Ship Virus Kills 3

17 Americans just got rushed into the only federal quarantine center in the entire country.They got flown in overnight to a base in Omaha after that deadly virus outbreak on their cruise ship.One of them's already tested positive and others got mild symptoms, and the rest, they're gonna be watched for up to 42 days.Right, and all of this after that Dutch cruise ship called the MV Hondius left the southern tip of Argentina on April 1st with about 150 people on board.They were all set to explore Antarctica, but a month later, three of those passengers were dead and at least six others were sick with something called the Andes virus.And while Hantavirus is normally only spread through rodents, like you have to come in contact with their pee or their droppings, Andes is one of the weird exceptions where you can actually actually spread between humans.

But only if you're around each other for a very long time in a small space, like, I don't know, a cruise ship.And the scariest things are it kills 30 to 40 % of people.There's no cure and doctors can only treat the symptoms.Oh, and also there's a weird side story here.A British guy with suspected hantavirus is stuck on the most remote inhabited island on earth.And so the UK military literally parachuted eight people in to go save him.
