A day in my life as an Orthodox Jew and labor and delivery room nurse. Today is December 25th. While many people around the world are celebrating Christmas, I just finished working a night shift at the hospital. Christmas is not a holiday that Jewish people observe, so I am more than happy to come into work so that my non-Jewish co-workers can be home with their families. Here are some of my favorite things about the day. One, there is no traffic on the roads.

I also love the festive holiday music and fun fact, did you know that many of the iconic Christmas songs were composed by Jewish people? When I get home, my older girls have already gotten on the bus and left for school. Aviva is still home waiting for me to drive her to school. Aviva usually takes a bus also, but unlike my older girl's school that has a private busing company, Aviva's school uses a public busing company which is closed on all legal holidays. After I drop her off, I can finally go home and get ready for bed. I brush my teeth, do my skincare. I always have to add extra moisturizer into my routine because the hospital just sucks
