A Shocking Discovery in My Abandoned Home…and Finishing Upstairs Clean Out! (Ep. 39)

Hi, welcome to my channel. My name is Emma and this is my abandoned general store that I'm turning into the homestead of my dreams. So in today's video, we are cleaning out the upstairs of the homestead. I have finally looked through everything. I know what's what and now I can start moving it out and preparing for the renovation. I have some help from my dad's crew. They are preparing the cabin to get everything moved over and they're gonna help me move stuff over as well. So in the cabin they have been building shelves so that I can kind of get everything organized and just make the most of the space. Basically we're just throwing everything into the back of my

truck and then driving it over and unloading it. It's gonna look so different when it's all cleared out. It's gonna feel so weird but amazing and I'm so excited to see it when it's all clear and empty. I am also so excited to share that my online store is now live. to the store itself. There were other owners and it's nothing against them that I didn't choose their name and Heritage because I wanted to honor the heritage of the town, the building, the community. at the cabin that the cabin is a lot cleaner than it was when I bought it. I haven't really shown this cabin transformation on my channel. I was thinking about showing this in a future series. Here's where we are right now with the cabin. It was jam-packed full of stuff when I bought it over the winter. So today, the plan was to start building some shelves in the cabin so we can start moving stuff from the homestead to the cabin.

So that's what I'm getting started on and these shelves that I wanted to build, I didn't want to buy brand new shelving and I didn't want to put a lot of time or energy into the shelving. So these shelves are just going to be built out of literal scrap wood that I had laying around. So they got started on that while I went over to the homestead. So while the guys are working on the shelf I am going to start bringing stuff from

upstairs, put it in the truck, and then take it over there. Is it a lie? Once they had the first shelf built, it was time to start putting things that were already in the cabin up on the shelves to make room for more things to come over from the homestead. So I got started on that. So that shelf took care of a ton of stuff. A lot of that is stuff that was in the cabin already. Some of it is stuff that I found along the way and a few things are from the homestead that I've already brought over here. But this is where we just put everything that came from the homestead. And I am this week probably going to add more shelves in here and use this as sort of like an organizing space for everything that I'm going to be

shipping out from the online orders. And yeah, this is just all gonna be storage. I love baking and one of my dreams is to start making sourdough. But between my long days out here and my lack of a full kitchen, I don't get to bake as often as I would like to.

And while I was working on organizing everything in the cabin, the guys switched me places and went over to the homestead and started working on getting

these ceiling joists out of my bedroom and over to the cabin safely under the tarps. And here's what the room looked like after the guys got all of the joists out. So now it's finally clear again and that makes me so happy. We had started this work day midday because the guys were already working on something else and by this time we were all super hot and tired so we called it a day and then came back for day two. This area in the cabin was a bedroom and will be a bedroom in the future. Everything you see in here is stuff that was already in the cabin that we decided to keep, although some of it

I'll probably still end up getting rid of. And after I saw the first shelf in the cabin, I realized that I wanted more, so I asked the guys to work on another shelf and I got started at the homestead working on bringing more stuff over and the guys got to work on another shelf. Just as a side note and a reminder, these are temporary shelves just to use this space for storage for now. These are just shelves that I asked the guys to make out of what I had lying around, so they're not the most

magnificent shelves, but they look great. Awesome. That's perfect.

We were just talking about it, and then all of a sudden it's here.

Do you think it could have been a bird nest that was hatched in there? I don't see any beaks, so... so We didn't get every single thing out of the homestead, but we got a lot done and sometimes you just have to go with the flow. I'm just glad nobody died of a heatstroke because the heat was pretty unbearable that second day. I'm hoping to recruit some help to get the

rest of the items out from upstairs because they are all too heavy for me to remove myself. I'm also still getting quotes on the brick parapet wall rebuild. I have another brick mason coming next week to look at it and I'm really hoping to get that done ASAP so we can put a new roof on. But until then, there is plenty to do, so I'm just gonna keep rolling with it.
