Good evening.We begin tonight here with the breaking news.Chilling new video just released showing that deadly shooting unfolding at an In -N -Out burger in Twin Falls, Idaho.Three people killed, seven wounded, and the images tonight are disturbing.Police say the gunman first opened fire from his car at the drive -thru window, killing an employee.Just moments later, then armed with a rifle, the suspect again firing into the drive -thru.

For the first time, we're seeing the panic inside the restaurant.Workers shielding each other, scrambling to take cover.Armed bystanders confronting the gunman, including an off -duty state trooper, returning fire, helping those employees get out of harm's way.Officers arriving within minutes, searching for the suspect with guns drawn, responding to multiple reports of a shooter at several locations and where they finally found him.Tonight, police say the bystanders who confronted the suspect, and you will see them, they helped save lives.ABC's Trevor Ruhl leading us off tonight.

Tonight's surveillance and body camera footage shows the chaos and the heroism during that horrific mass shooting at an In -N -Out burger in Twin Falls, Idaho.Video shows the gunman Saturday in the drive -thru, firing from his car into the window, killing a worker inside.He then steps out and shoots a person in the car in front of him.Former Twin Falls police officer Austin James is seen running toward the gunfire, drawing his weapon.He too was shot.The gunman then called 911.

to the window, firing until his gun jams.Terrified workers scrambling away, led by an off -duty state trooper inside.The trooper and the suspect then exchanging gunfire.Armed civilian Jordan Salinas also fired shots at the gunman.

As soon as some rounds start coming at him, Everything changed.

Authorities say they pushed the suspect away from the restaurant toward a Tesla charging station, where he then shot and killed Dale Schultz and wounded his wife, Renette.He then went inside the Twin Falls Visitor Center gift shop.You can see these employees crouching as he goes the other way.And outside, a brave worker distracting the shooter, buying time for his coworkers to run for their lives.

To that young man, you are a hero.Your courage, your composure, your selflessness, and that moment likely gave others the time they needed to escape harm.

Authorities then closing in, tracking the suspect to a nearby construction site.Officers with their guns drawn.

Hey, show me your hands!

The shooter dying from a self -inflicted gunshot wound.Investigators say he shot 10 people.Three of them were killed.

Our hearts are with every victim and family that are now carrying the weight of this tragedy.

And, David, investigators say the motive for this shooting is still unclear.The video shows just how terrifying this was for everyone trying to flee, but police emphasize just how many people bravely took action to protect others in all that chaos.David?I can't even imagine it.

Storms rolling in over New York City, the sky going dark.over Manhattan.And police body camera videos showing lightning strike a water tower.This is Bradenton, Florida.Tonight, more than 1 ,100 flights already canceled because of the weather.LaGuardia, JFK, Dulles airports, all issuing ground stops for a time.

So let's take a look.to ABC senior meteorologist Lee Goldberg with us here on a Friday night.Hey there, Lee.

Hey David, and we're under protective cover here in New York City because we have loud claps of thunder and lightning all around.Severe thunderstorm warning for parts of New York City right now.And severe thunderstorm watches across parts of the Northeast into about 9 o 'clock tonight for these damaging winds and there's flood warnings all across the parts of the Northeast and into parts of Pennsylvania.The watches are also in the Midwest.We've had tornadoes reported in Iowa and active tornado warnings.These storms in the Northeast, it's all about this oppressive tropical air.

It will improve by the end of the weekend.To the Northwest, it's about the air quality and fire alert.With gusty winds and dry conditions, that will continue and the unrelenting heat is not helping.Looking at triple digit temperatures from Palm Springs all the way to Billings, Montana, there will be some heat relief in the Pacific Northwest as the weekend goes on.

David?Lee Goldberg with the forecast for us, Lee.Thank you.Tonight, we have learned emergency crews are now responding to the crash of a firefighting helicopter near Fillmore, Utah.The chopper going down while battling a massive wildfire.There's no word at this hour on the two people on board.

The wide mouth two fire destroying more than 106 ,000 acres, multiple structures burned to the ground.Authorities say the fire was started by lightning.It's been burning now for weeks.Tonight there's news of a daring rescue operation to save an American in a remote part of the world.The dangerous international rescue mission in complete darkness and extreme cold to get to an American in Antarctica.Here's ABC's Perry Russum tonight.

Tonight, the dangerous international rescue mission to save an American suffering a medical emergency in the pitch -black abyss of Antarctica.

To get there in complete darkness in these extreme cold temperatures is very, very rare.I believe it hasn't been done before.

The U .S.National Science Foundation putting out an urgent request for help last week at the McMurdo Station, an American research facility.Australian officials say a rescue plane flew more than five grueling hours to Antarctica, where it's winter, and much of the continent is in total darkness.

We had what's called nautical twilight, which is a very minimal amount of light.

On the ice, temperatures reaching a bone -chilling 45 degrees below zero, the wind blinding.Flight crews and first responders transferring the patient to the plane, then flying 2 ,300 miles to New Zealand.

It was a huge amount of planning by multiple people in our company and multiple agencies across the world.

David, with the freezing cold temperatures and darkness, there was a narrow window to make this rescue happen.The American was admitted to the hospital in serious condition, David.

Perry Russell reporting tonight.Perry, thank you.Tonight, the horrific images coming in from overseas, a deadly school shooting in Thailand, a 14 -year -old gunman opening fire, running down the hall, multiple teachers and staff killed, children taking cover, and a warning tonight, these images are disturbing.Here's Britt Klenet.

Tonight, terrifying video posted to social media capturing the moment a student opened fire on his classmates and teachers at a high school near Bangkok, Thailand.Shots ringing out as people scramble for cover, the shooter moving down the hallway and around a corner.Inside a classroom, these barricaded students taking cover under their desks, trying to stay silent, at one point seem huddled together, comforting each other.Police say the shooter was 14 years old and targeted the school in what they called a premeditated attack, killing five staff members and injuring more than 30 other people.The shooter taking his own life at the school, officials say he still had more than 30 rounds of ammunition on him.Police later finding his two grandparents also dead from gunshot wounds at the family home, saying the teen appears to have killed them before going on the rampage at the school, and that the handgun he used was registered to his grandfather.

David, this is Thailand's second deadly school shooting this year.The Prime Minister now vowing to propose stricter new gun laws.David.

And tonight, President Trump says he will appeal this to the Supreme Court.Here's Rachel Scott.

Tonight, President Trump taking his fight for a White House ballroom to the Supreme Court after a federal appeals court ruled construction must stop unless he obtains congressional approval.In a blistering two to one rebuke, the majority writing, each president is a temporary tenant, not the owner of the White House and its executive residence.Adding, whether or not a massive ballroom should be constructed is for Congress to decide and is not a matter of executive self -help.The president has already demolished the East Wing to make room for the $400 million ballroom.Construction has been underway for 10 months.

This ballroom is going to be something that's so beautiful for the city, so desperately needed by presidents.

President Trump calling the decision unjust, saying it must be overturned by the Supreme Court in its entirety.It's the second time this week the president's renovations have faced pushback.The National Park Service finding his proposed 250 foot triumphal arch would obstruct the view of dozens of historical sites, including the Lincoln Memorial, where crews have been working to repair the iconic reflecting pool.Clearing out the green algae and fixing the peeling paint after a $15 million taxpayer -funded renovation.The president has blamed the peeling paint on vandals, tonight calling on U .S.

Attorney Jeanine Pirro to revisit the charges that Pirro dropped earlier this week, declaring the damage was due to a botched installation, not vandalism.Today, visitors spotting these signs, warning the work may temporarily discolor the water as the pipes are cleaned out.Those reflecting pool renovations will cost an estimated $15 million in taxpayer dollars.The White House ballroom?About $400 million.But renovating the entire east wing of the White House could cost even more than that, David, and it will be paid for in a combination of taxpayer dollars and private donations.

involving children and teenagers in social media.The ruling against Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, ordering the social media giant to pay more than a half billion dollars, saying its apps harmed children's mental health.Here's Elizabeth Schulze now.

Tonight, a massive legal setback for the company behind Instagram and Facebook.A New Mexico judge ordering Meta to pay $567 million in penalties and make changes to its apps, saying they harm children's mental health.

Now they must pay the price for the choice that they made to put profits over children's safety.

The judge ruling for users under age 18 meta must eliminate push notifications at night and during school hours.Hide like counts, add safeguards for AI chat bots, and put new time limits on the apps no more than 90 hours per month.Tammy Rodriguez says her daughter Selena got addicted to Instagram and developed depression and took her own life at age 11.Her mom now one of thousands of other lawsuits filed against social media platforms.

I'm doing it to save other kids lives.I don't want another parent to have to feel what I feel every day when I wake up and I go home after work and the house is quiet and we don't have that loudness and that's who I'm doing it for.

Metta says it will appeal the ruling, adding it works hard to keep people safe on its platforms.David.

Tonight, the urgent manhunt north of New York City for this man suspected of killing his father and setting fire to his home.32 -year -old Thomas Ryan is considered armed and dangerous after law enforcement sources told ABC News he set fire to his father Robert Ryan's home in Greenville, New York to cover up his murder.These surveillance images appear to show the suspect carrying chopped wood into the home, then fleeing soon after.

I have a two -story ranch.fire in the basement and the first floor.

Law enforcement sources told ABC News 70 year old Robert Ryan was found dead inside.New York State Police said his son was seen in the area in a black t -shirt and black sweatpants driving this gray Toyota Prius.Investigators are asking nearby homeowners to check their security cameras for images of the suspect but if they see him to keep their distance.The victim's daughter speaking with our station WABC.The family here on Long Island, David, says the suspect suffers severe mental illness.They fear he could be dangerous.

Tonight, state police say the suspect is known to frequent places farther in upstate New York.

It looks like it does, David.Todd Blanche's nomination was hanging by a thread after two Republican senators, Susan Collins and Lisa Murkowski, came out against him, concerned about the weaponization of the Department of Justice and Blanche's approval of a $1 .8 billion fund that could have paid claims to January 16th.All eyes were then on the deciding vote here.Louisiana's Bill Cassidy, who Trump had helped defeat in a primary just a few months ago.Cassidy stepping out onto the Senate floor, saying he is a yes on Blanche, calling Blanche, quote, not perfect, but better than the alternatives.And tonight, Todd Blanche, the president's former personal lawyer, is on track to be confirmed by the Senate as the next attorney general.

Thanks tonight.Police say a 15 year old boy dressed as a clown accused of stabbing a man to death in southern Illinois is now under arrest.Authorities say haunting video shows the suspect in front of a home wearing a clown costume.The body of the 78 year old Navy veteran attacked at random.was found in the street.

Tonight, a fuel tanker slamming into an ABC station in a wild crash in Amarillo, Texas.Video from KVII showing a pickup truck blowing through an intersection there, hitting the tanker truck.That fuel tanker then barreling through a fence, hitting a steel beam before coming to a stop.Police say the pickup driver and two passengers ran from the scene.The truck driver is OK.No one was hurt at the station.

Tonight, a small plane crashing onto a street in Northern California.Take a look.The FAA reporting the single engine plane went down to the town of Ukiah in Mendocino County this morning.Police say the plane ripped down power lines, causing area power outages.Two people were on board and they were not hurt.An investigation is now underway tonight.
