Good evening.We begin tonight here with several breaking stories.The jet that disappeared from radar, the first wreckage now found 12 hours after it disappeared.And the other breaking story at this hour, the U .S.striking Iran right now.

A U .S.official telling ABC News at this hour, tonight's operations are bigger in scope, meant to degrade Iran's ability to threaten ships in the Strait of Hormuz.CENTCOM releasing images of last night's attacks, saying they struck defense systems and coastal radar.Iran tonight saying it has targeted U .S.

military installations in Bahrain and Kuwait.and tonight promising more retaliation.And this evening, amid these new U .S.strikes on Iran, oil prices already surging, and our gas prices set to go up again.

Rachel Scott leading us off tonight.Tonight, as the U .S.launches a new attack on Iran, the second in 24 hours, President Trump now declaring the ceasefire over.

I think it's over.I don't want to deal with them anymore.They're scum.You know what scum is?There's something wrong with them.

They're cuckoo.The new U .S.strikes hitting Iran's coastal radar sites and anti -ship missile locations.A larger attack than last night, when 80 targets were hit.It comes in response to Iran firing on three cargo ships near the Strait of Hormuz.

The big question, what comes next?Overnight, Iran launching missiles at U .S.bases in the Gulf.Those missiles intercepted.The Pentagon releasing video of more than 20 Navy warships patrolling waters near the Middle East.

President Trump today sending mixed signals, first saying he would let peace talks continue, then a few hours later saying this.

I'm not sure I want to make a deal with them.We can play games, but I'm not sure I want to make a deal.Let's just finish the job.

And tonight, the calm has been shattered in the oil markets.Gas prices for Americans set to go up.The president asked, are we about to see full -blown war again?

I don't think it's going to start again.I think it's going to go very quickly.They hit a couple of ships, and so we hit them much harder.When they hit, we hit.

So let's get right to Rachel Scott live in Turkey tonight.And Rachel, amid this escalation with Iran right now and the surging oil prices already, there are also questions tonight about this new Air Force One, that gift from Qatar, and why it left Turkey tonight without the president.

Yes, David, the president has been touting this new plane, so it was surprising when that Qatari jet left without him and headed toward the UK.The president said it was to give troops stationed there an opportunity to view the plane.But tonight, it is raising new questions about whether security concerns played a factor.The president later departed Turkey on an older model of Air Force One, David.

Rachel Scott leading us off tonight.Rachel, thank you.Tonight, there are also breaking developments in that mystery, the jet that disappeared over the Arabian Sea.Authorities now finding wreckage 12 hours after the plane showed a drop in altitude, then a climb, and then a dramatic descent.We're there searching right now, and here's Gio Benitez tonight.

Tonight, the first pieces of wreckage found just 12 hours after a cargo jet suddenly disappeared from radar over the Arabian Sea.Five crew members still missing amid serious questions about what caused the plane to go down so abruptly.The Boeing 737 flying from the United Arab Emirates to Karachi, Pakistan, late Tuesday, with four passengersmembers on board.But an hour into the flight, the pilot reporting problems with the plane's navigation system.Three minutes later, the aircraft seen on radar showing a loss of altitude, followed by a climb, and then suddenly descending rapidly at a pace of 22 ,000 feet per minute.

The last few seconds of the flight of this aircraft were unusual.Wild oscillations, climbs, descents, and then just prior to impact, a very steep, very high -speed dive hitting the water.

Air traffic control losing contact.

How do you read?This is Karachi Control on guard.Do you read?

It will be the black box that solves this mystery, but they're going to look at things like night, weather, was maintenance done on the aircraft, was there spatial disorientation, or perhaps was this deliberate?

The search for that crucial black box now underway.And, David, the flight's operator, K2 Airways, says that they're cooperating with authorities and praying for the safety of their colleagues.David?

All right, Gio Benitez reporting tonight.Gio, thank you.This evening, there had been pressure building on Maine's Democratic Senate candidate, Graham Plattner.The question, would he step aside this evening?There is breaking news on this story, and here's Jay O 'Brien.

Tonight, in the nation's most closely watched Senate race, after a remarkable standoff with the main Democratic Party, disgraced Senate candidate Graham Plattner ending his campaign.

We believe that for the movement to continue, it can't be made.And for that reason, we are suspending campaign operations.

Plattner had gone underground since a former girlfriend accused him of sexual assault, which he denies.

This is incredibly difficult, because I know that some will think it's an admission toguilt, and it most certainly is not.

Now the main state Democratic Party accusing Plattner of essentially holding them hostage by demanding a say in who takes his place on the ballot.

Unfortunately, Graham Plattner's team has repeatedly reached out to us in an attempt to put their thumb on the scale.

Top Democrats, including Senator Bernie Sanders, urging Plattner to quit.Democratic voters like Kat Beatty of Banger, Maine, saying the opportunity to beat incumbent Republican Senator Susan Collins is slipping away.

So disappointed.I thought this year we would finally get Susan Collins out of office, and now we didn't vet our candidates, and now she's going to win again, and it sucks.

David, Maine's Democratic Party now has a little over two weeks to pick a new nominee.There's no roadmap for that process, but at least five would -be candidates have already raised their hands.David.

Jay O 'Brien again tonight, Jay, thanks.Tonight here in New York City, 24 hours after urgent evacuations, the race to shore up that building that officials feared could collapse.What they're doing inside the building to keep it standing.Aaron Kaczorski, back on the scene tonight.

24 hours after that urgent evacuation over fears of a 37 -story building coming down in midtown Manhattan, at least nine buildings cleared out, including hotels and a school.Tonight, construction teams working around the clock to stabilize that high rise that had been at risk of a partial collapse.The city releasing these new images today of emergency shoring columns next to a bent steel support.

They're going to be working through the day to get all the way up to the roof.

Construction workers installed these trusses on eight separate floors of the former Pfizer headquarters that's now being converted into apartments.The developer added several residential floors on top and has said the columns likely could not handle the extra weight.Telling The New York Times this incident is nothing more than a typical construction mishap.But crews inside that building were alarmed when they saw beams bendingwindows breaking, and concrete starting to crumble.Tonight, the mayor is promising a full investigation.

As soon as we answer the emergency questions around safety in this moment, we are going to be conducting a full investigation as to how we got to this point.

Officials say the building is now stable.Evacuated buildings and nearby streets are starting to reopen.And you can see David East 42nd Street is now back open here tonight.The developer says they've identified the problem and a clear plan to fix it.But the city says it still needs to know how this failure occurred and who needs to be held accountable.

David.Eric Guterski reporting on this again tonight.Aaron, thank you.Tonight, the father killed by ICE agents in Houston.ICE says he was here illegally and tried to ram an officer's vehicle.His family tonight disputing that account and the FBI is now involved.

Tonight, growing outrage in Houston after a man was fatally shot by an ICE agent after officials claimed he rammed a federal vehicle during an attempted arrest.Video from a passing car shows Lorenzo Salgado Araujo handcuffed as he laid bleeding and groaning on the ground, surrounded by agents.He later died at the hospital.His son, fighting back tears as he recalled the moment he learned his dad had been shot.

I saw a video posted on Facebook that he had been shot.I recognize him immediately, not from his appearance, but from his voice, crying for help as he lay on the street bleeding out.

Homeland Security says Araujo was in the country illegally, that he weaponized his vehicle and was shot after he refused to follow commands.The family says he was a Mexican national in the US for 35 years and was close to obtaining his legal status.The president of Mexico says she's considering legal measures, adding,we cannot allow the mistreatment of our fellow Mexicans in the United States.Araujo's family says he was on his way to the construction job that helped him put three sons, all U .S.

citizens, through college.

He did not deserve to die.He did not deserve to be reduced to a headline of Mexican man shot and killed by ice.He deserved to live a quiet life as Lorenzo Salgado Araujo, a husband, a father, and a job creator for dozens of men who also wanted the American dream.

And David, tonight the family and civil rights organizations are calling for a full investigation into this shooting.The FBI, meanwhile, says it's treating this case as a potential assault on a law enforcement officer.

David.John communists in Texas tonight.John, thank you tonight here.The wild chase across a busy golf course, a man accused of attempted murder, leading officers on that chase with golfers on the course in Ohio and how it ended.

Here's Matt Rivers.A suspect wanted for attempted murder, leading Ohio police on a wild and dramatic high -speed chase tonight.That silver minivan racing through this golf course, several patrol cars close behind.The driver, 39 -year -old Julius Edwards, wanted for brutally stabbing his girlfriend Tuesday.Police and federal marshals attempting to arrest him around 3 .30 p .m.

Edwards evading capture for hours.Surveillance video pinpointing his location around 7 .30 PM.That's when police again engaged in a miles long pursuit.Edwards crashing his car, fleeing on foot into the woods while firing at officers.

We heard the gunshots but didn't realize what it was.

Around 8 .30 p .m.officers locating him again, this time in a stolen minivan now speeding through this golf course.Surveillance video and body camera video capturing the dramatic end in this neighborhood.The minivan slamming into a police car on thethis front lawn.

Edwards seen here sprinting away from the crime scene.David that suspect was eventually captured after fleeing yet another scene truly remarkable that no one was injured as he raced through that busy golf course.

Hi, David.Some people have had a break from this heat, but no one in the south has.Let's get into the southeast because I want to show you those extreme heat warnings that are snuggled up against the coast.That's Georgia into the Carolinas.Look at Charleston at 111.And over the next three days, it does not get better.

Focus down into Florida, then move over to Louisiana as well with those heat index levels near 110.Into the southwest, the light purple there, that's from Palm Springs all the way into Phoenix.That's our next heat dome building, and it does shift east by the time we get into the weekend.Storms?Oh, we've got storms.Look at the orange spot there from Colorado into Kansas, Nebraska.

Also look at where that humidity shoots those storms into lacrosse, also into Green Bay.That's where it's been super humid.

James Longman is just back from Venezuela.

They're counting the dead in Venezuela tonight, but many don't have names.Hundreds buried in these mass graves, killed in the devastating double quake that hit two weeks ago today.The graves dug by volunteers because, as we saw, the government's response has been dangerously lacking.

It doesn't feel like there's much government coordination here.Yes, there are rescue teams, but really it's a lot of people doing it for themselves.

These areas are not being cordoned off.There are checkpoints, the police and the military are on the streets, but when it comes to these sites in particular, the government's not here.More than 3 ,600 are confirmed dead, among them nine Americans.But thousands more are missing.The country has relied almost entirely on foreign emergency assistance, like the $310 million from the US, as well as rescue teams to help find survivors.But they, like most international teams, are now gone.

And while aid is still coming in, many areas are still without power, water, or food.David, the new government under Delce -Rodriguez has announced a plan for the country's reconstruction, but that might be too little too late for the many thousands still suffering.

A great white shark swimming 13 miles off Rhode Island's southern coast.The nonprofit Atlantic Shark Institute documenting their finding the young great white shark coming directly toward the camera underwater.An incredible breathtaking close up before the shark swims off.Great whites aren't uncommon in the waters off the northeast, but they mostly congregate around Cape Cod, researchers say, and they're not often sighted in Rhode Island waters.And right here tonight, John Dodd, executive director of the Atlantic Shark Institute, on the beach looking out directly toward where the whales are.the shark.

Over my shoulder about 18 miles if you had a really long lens you'd see that location.

And tonight here, marine researchers say this great white shark sighting is actually a good thing.
