the war in Iran and the dramatic scene playing out. Iran attacking ships in the critical Strait of Hormuz, where so much of the world's oil passes through. Tonight, several crew members still missing, the war throwing the global oil market into turmoil. Iran is now threatening oil at $200 a barrel.
US Central Command tonight now saying it has taken out more than a dozen Iranian vessels capable of laying mines underwater in that critical shipping channel. President Trump urging oil tankers to push through the strait after saying 24 hours ago, crews should have the guts to do so.
Late today, President Trump repeatedly referring to this war in Iran as an excursion. He was asked, is this an excursion or is this war? ABC's chief foreign correspondent Ian Pannel leading us off from the region again tonight.
Tonight, with 20 percent of the world's oil being prevented from passing through this vital waterway, three vessels attacked in the critical Strait of Hormuz. One of those ships in flames, claiming the captains ignored their warnings not to come through.
Attention all ships from now on, all navigating through the strait of Hormuz is forbidden.
Meanwhile a foreign oil tanker was ablaze in the port of Umqasar near Basra in southern Iraq. A security source saying the vessel sustained significant damage. It's not yet known what the cause was. And tonight, Iranian drones also striking Oman's largest oil facility, setting off massive explosions in videos circulating online.
All of this adding to huge global volatility in oil markets and gas prices back in the US. Late today in Ohio, President Trump aware Americans remain focused on prices at home and gas prices back in the U.S. Late today in Ohio, President Trump aware Americans remain focused on prices at home. And gas prices of the pump. Today, repeatedly calling the war in Iran an excursion and
explained the growing concerns over oil and gas prices this
way.
I think an excursion. But it's doing well the markets holding up well. I think it would be hit a little bit, but we were hit probably less than I thought, and we'll be back on track in a pretty short while. Prices are coming down very substantially. Oil will be coming down.

Fox News then asking the president, is this an excursion or is it a war?
You just said it is a little excursion and you said it is a war.
So which one is it?
Well, it's both. It's both. It's an excursion that will keep us out of a war. And the war is going to be... I mean, for them it's a war. For us, it's a war. For us it's turned out to be easier than we thought.
Tonight the retaliation from Iran on those ships and oil fields, seen as a major escalation. It comes just hours after the US struck at least 16 boats capable of laying sea mines in that all-important Strait of Hormuz. Iran tonight now warning the world to get ready for oil prices to skyrocket to $200 per barrel. President Trump late today suggesting he'll tap the strategic oil reserves.
We'll reduce it a little bit and that brings the prices down.
Earlier, the president was pressed if he'd still encourage oil companies to pass through the dangerous Strait of Hormuz. After saying 24 hours ago the crews on those oil tankers should have the guts to do it.
I think they should use the Strait of Hormuz.
Look, we took out just about all of their mine ships in one night.

a preliminary investigation has determined the US military was responsible for that deadly strike on a girls school in southern Iran. 168 people were killed, mostly children. Iranian state TV, airing this video, appearing to show a US-made Tomahawk missile slamming into a building next to the school. The president's claimed it was Iran that hit the school.
We think it was done by Iran. They're very inaccurate, as you know, with their munitions. They have no accuracy whatsoever. It was done by Iran.
Late today, the president saying he knows nothing about these reported preliminary findings.
A new report says the military investigation has found it was the United States that struck the pool.
I don't know, though.

And we've won. Let me say we've won. You know, you never like to say too early you won. We won.
We won the bet in the first hour it was over.
David, these attacks by Iran causing havoc with international shipping and oil prices. President Trump has said he'd act to keep the Strait of Hormuz open, but so far, Iran's ability to pose danger to any vessel, all too clear.
Ian Pannell from Tel Aviv tonight. Ian, thank you. Also breaking tonight, this war in Iran, and now the FBI warning right here at home. The FBI alerting authorities that Iran wants to strike the US homeland,
possibly launching attack drones in the West. And tonight, President Trump has asked if he's concerned about a potential domestic terror attack. Here's Aaron Katursky.
Tonight, with the war against Iran in its 12th day, a new warning about how Iran may retaliate. In recent days, the FBI alerted police departments in California that Iran wants to launch attack drones against the West Coast. The alert, reviewed by ABC News, cites recently acquired information that Iran aspires to
conduct a surprise attack using drones from an unidentified vessel off the coast of the United States homeland, specifically against unspecified targets in California.
Through its operatives, its proxies, its relationship with criminal organizations, Iran has the expertise, the personnel, the access to equipment to conduct a drone attack here in the United States. Now it has the incentive.
The FBI declined to comment, and we did not hear back from the White House. But today, President Trump said he is unconcerned about an Iranian strike on the United States.
Mr. President, are you worried, sir, about a domestic terror attack backed by Iran here,
sir?
No. Iran is already using drones to retaliate, launching a wave of Shahed-136 drones that have struck the U.S. embassy in Saudi Arabia and buildings in Bahrain, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates. And tonight, the Michigan-based medical equipment company Stryker says it was hit by a cyber attack and there are indications a pro-Iran hacking group may be behind it.
And David, that cautionary alert to police in California contained no information about Iran's aspirational targets or timing. Governor Gavin Newsom's office saying tonight, David, that it's actively working to protect
California communities. David Aaron, they're calling it a cautionary alert, but it is still rattling to hear our thanks to you tonight. There's also a severe storm threat as we're on the air this evening. Parts of Pennsylvania all the way down to Texas bracing tonight. Possible tornadoes, severe storms, 50 million Americans now on alert. the tornado outbreak deadly already. The couple killed in their home. Lee Goldberg has the forecast and Alex Perez right in
the storm zone for us tonight, a 1200 mile long line of storms bearing down on millions after a violent and deadly 24 hours. There is right there, 60 miles south of Chicago, Lisa Blanchett capturing this massive funnel moving into Kankakee Illinois right around dinner time. It tore through this industrial area on the outskirts of town. Listen to the alarms blaring and the gas leaking. You could smell a strong aroma of gas in
the air. This was the kitchen. Mitch Gerth and his family, including his two young children, were taking cover in his parents' basement when the house caved in on top of them. Even as you look at what's left here, is it a little hard to believe that this is what happened?
