Abdul VERBALLY CHECKMATES Meet The Press Host & STUNS HER SILENT!! | The Kyle Kulinski Show
I don't think people have any idea how exciting it is to us when one of our candidates wins the primary and then, you know, they've hit it big, they're going on all the mainstream media shows, and they start hitting it out of the park.Do you have any idea?the elation I feel as I watch Abdul El -Sayed seamlessly navigate this disgusting world of vipers and snakes and backstabbers and all sorts of atrocious, vile people. So he goes on NBC News, meet the press, And I mean, this just speaks for itself. It's an absolute masterclass.Let's watch here and we'll break it down as we go.
Thank you so much for being here. And congratulations.Let's talk about your victory this week. You narrowly defeated Congresswoman Haley Stevens. And when you actually add up all of the votes, the vote totals that went to Stevens and Mallory McMurrow, a majority of voters actually ended up voting for candidates who are more moderate than you.So how do you win over those voters who voted for someone else?
I already hate this question.I already hate it because Donald Trump eked out some election victories. And then immediately the media was like, mandate, mandate, mandate. The Republicans were like, it's a mandate. It's a mandate. It's a mandate.
And like. It's assumed, if you win by even like two motherfucking votes, they're like, you get carte blanche, you get to do whatever the fuck you want to do.When a left winger wins, it's like, sure, you know, you shattered the record in terms of turnout, and you won the election, but I have to find some way of discrediting that, and undermining it, and saying like, you have to change. If Hayley Stevens won and Abdul El -Sayed lost, would they say to Hayley Stevens, Hayley, you need to mend fences and try to get the left flank of your party on board, don't you realize that? Not a chance they would do that. They would say this is a mandate for centrism.
But when somebody who's left -leaning wins, it's all of a sudden, well, how are you gonna please these other people who you need to bring? It's just, it's so...The deck is stacked, bro.The game is rigged. You can see it right in front of your eyes.
Well, thank you, Chris. And I really was just grateful for everybody who participated in the overwhelming recognition of the vote tallies is that five hundred thousand more Democrats voted than did Republicans in that election. If that happens, we are going to win in a landslide. Now, I know that we had it out with a very tough primary. There are a lot of issues that were discussed and differences that were identified and fixated on.But I would tell you this, that all of us agree that our differences are far smaller than what we agree on.
And what we agree on is that Donald Trump has been an existential threat to our democracy. He is costing us jobs.He is costing us more at almost every aspect of our lives, whether it's our gas, our groceries, or our health care. And that Mike Rogers is going to be nothing more than a rubber stamp on Donald Trump's disastrous economic and foreign policies. So this is an opportunity for us to come together to mend fences, to build together.the coalition that is going to defeat Mike Rogers in November and defeat Trumpism over the next two years.
And by the way, let me just say real quick, Hayley Stevens has kept it real as fuck so far. There hasn't been an ounce of bitterness. It's been, like, literally from day one, like, I'm back in Abdul, I'm gonna campaign for Abdul, they did the fucking unity breakfast and hugged it out.Like, there's other people who've lost by larger margins than Haley lost by who've been bitter and who've refused to sort of, like, move on.But Haley? She did the right thing, bro.
She did the right thing. And in many ways, she's like leading others and showing centrists like, hey, if you really think MAGA is an existential threat, as they are, we don't have a choice anymore, bro.Like whatever your differences are with Abdul, That's what we're doing here. There's no way around it.So make peace with that shit. And again, to Haley's credit, she did so instantly.
Let me ask you about some news that we are learning this morning.Local outlets reporting that you spoke to former President Barack Obama on the phone.I know you're not going to give me every detail of the call, but what was the crux of his message to you, Dr. El -Sayed?
Barack Hussein Obama run for and win the presidency.I watched him serve with a level of class, a level of elegance that we could only pine for now.So I really enjoyed the conversation.I was grateful for his advice. It was very warm, very inviting. And I know that he knows the critical role that Michigan is gonna play in holding Trump accountable, in winning back the Senate, and in building forward the future that we need.
Is he going to campaign with you, Dr. El -Sayed?
Look, I really hope so.And it was a really good conversation about what we need to do to be able to win.And obviously this is somebody who knows a lot about winning Michigan.
And by the way, let me just say, bro, It's all hands on deck in this bitch. It is all hands on deck in this bitch. If I'm Abdul, I'm absolutely welcoming Obama on the campaign trail, who by the way, polls as the most popular politician in the entire country.Okay? You have Bernie right behind him and then Zoran right behind him, but Barack Obama is the most popular politician in this country.Getting him out there would be phenomenal.
It would help.I just saw that Kamala is already going to do some events with Abdul El -Sayed.That's a good idea also.Yes, I know Kamala lost Michigan. However, Abdul didn't win the majority of black voters. He did better than what was expected with black voters, like he outperformed the polls with black voters, but Haley was way above Abdul in the polls with black voters.
So to have Kamala Harris come out there and campaign with Abdul El -Sayed to try to rally the troops and get more people in Michigan on board the campaign.I'm sorry, but I know there's some people on the left who may have an issue with it because of Kamala Harris's shortcomings. However, we got to win this bitch. And if that helps even 1%, I would say yes.And I think it's naive to say that it doesn't help at all.It definitely helps compared to not helping at all.
factions of the party sort of get on board with him.And remember, they are coming to him.Abdul is not coming to them.Okay?Abdul ran on an anti -genocide message. He ran on a Medicare for All message to have Obama and Kamala and whoever else go, okay, I genuflect at the altar of these ideas and I'm going to campaign for you.
I'll take it.I'll take it.So love to see that not only is he leading the way here, but you also have other elements of the party that are like, hey, let's do this thing.Right.So it's awesome to see. Now, we got to make sure that he's not undermined in other ways by other factions of the party.

Get started freeBut to this point, like I said, you got to give Haley Stevens credit. You got to give Obamacare. You got to give Kamala Harris credit because they're all stepping up.Here we go.
Just to be clear, do you anticipate he'll show up on the campaign trail with you?Is that one of the broad topics you all discussed?
Look, we talked a lot about what it'll take to win.Obviously, his presence here in Michigan would mean so much to the coalition that helped elect him.So I hope that we get to campaign together.
One of the big issues you ran on, of course, was Medicare for All.So let's talk about that. You served as a public health official in Michigan. You even co -authored a book making the case for Medicare for All.Senator Bernie Sanders also campaigned on it as a presidential candidate back in 2016.10 years later, this idea still does not have a majority support in Congress.
If you were to win...
And that is because of the money from the for -profit health insurance companies.Weird how you left that part out. The, you know, millions and millions of dollars that are spent by the for -profit, or billions once you include for -profit health insurance, and Big Pharma, and all the others. All this money spent in politics, what do you think that's buying?that is buying loyalty, that is buying a continuation of our broken system where they profit off of other people's misery.
Well, Kristen, I've been up and down my state, and everywhere I go, people say the same things. It just shouldn't be this hard. And one of the big things that they bring up is the fact that they're worried about having to see a doctor if they get sick and what that'll mean for them. The median deductible, meaning the money that you pay to get the health care you already thought you paid for every single month, it's about $4 ,500 for a family of four.considering the fact that the median income is about $80 ,000, means that you're going to lose more than a whole paycheck just to actually pay for the health care you thought you already paid for.Our system has only gotten less and less effective, less efficient over time, as we've watched health insurance corporations collude with big hospitals and the pharmaceutical industry to figure out how to pick more and more of our dollars out of our pocket to put into theirs.
We don't have to live like this.We have an opportunity to guarantee cradle -to -grave health care from the moment that somebody is born to the moment that they expire, God willing, at 120 years of life after a long, healthy life in their sleep peacefully. And it would guarantee them health care that they need, independent of the circumstances, wherever they needed to go.That is the kind of security we've never had in this country. And it's the kind of security that the health care corporations have denied us.So we're watching more people support Medicare for all every day.
We're watching more elected officials support Medicare for all every day.And in a lot of ways, this campaign was a referendum on whether or not we want health care here or bomb somewhere else. And I think the Michigander, the Michigan voter chose health care here.
Injected straight in my veins all my days.I just love that framing so much.I love the they want health care here, not bombs over there.
Oh, That's spot on.Some Americans worry, though, you can only make Medicare free and universal if you increase taxes. So if you are elected and make this push, would you need to increase taxes?
As I've said across this campaign, I am for taxing billionaires their wealth.
What about people who make less than a million dollars, though, Dr. El -Sayed?What about people making less than a million dollars?
So for the average person, and you look at your W -2, if you're an employee who gets paid every two weeks or four weeks, after you pay your taxes, the next biggest check that comes off the top of your pay stub is to your health insurance company. So imagine instead of paying that to your health insurance company, whose CEO makes $20 million a year, instead you paid a little bit more in taxes for healthcare that you wouldn't lose if you lost your job or turned 25.or got married or got divorced.I think all of us would be a lot more interested in that kind of a system if we knew that our health care would be free at the point of care and would be free without having to worry about losing it in general. So there's an opportunity here, I think, to trade what we give to a big corporation who gets to decide who we get to see and who we don't for a little bit more paid into FICA.And I think that's a trade that's worth making.
I think the broader public would be interested in that.Understands that that's a trade worth making considering how many people are holding medical debt a third of all Michigan households right now So in other words Medicare for all saves you money.
Okay, Medicare for all saves you money What happens is right now you pay what is effectively a private tax to a for -profit health insurance company what he's saying is what if I totally wiped away my the for -profit tax you're paying to the health insurance company, I replaced it with a public tax, which is a smaller number. You would end up net saving money. In fact, when you look at the various studies on Medicare for All, on a single -payer healthcare system, they estimate that the United States would save anywhere from $42 billion to $743 billion annually, and that you would save that relative to the system we have now. Why?Because you got rid of the unnecessary, rapacious, for -profit middleman.Over the time frame of a decade, Medicare for All would save the United States trillions of dollars.
It would save 68 ,000 lives per year and save us trillions of dollars. And according to one analysis, it would be up to $450 billion a year.you know, top universities dig into the numbers and crunch them for everybody. So, when they do this stupid fucking line of questioning where, are you gonna raise tax on regular people? Are you gonna raise tax on regular people? Are you gonna raise tax on regular people?
Understand, that is a hack question.you know, basically bought and paid for by health insurance companies.Because if you tell the truth and you say yes, they take that out of context and pretend like you're going to cost people more money when in reality you're saving people money. You're eliminating the private tax and raising the public tax, but raising it less than what the private tax was initially. So it's one of those things where, like, It's hard to get it across in a soundbite. And so they weaponize that against you.

Get started freeThey did this with Bernie too. When Bernie said, yeah, my Medicare for all bill is going to raise your taxes. The right would take that and go, Bernie says he's going to raise your taxes!Bernie says he's going to raise your taxes! But what they don't tell you is the second sentence that came after that, which is, but I'm eliminating the private tax, which is even higher that you pay right now.And so it's incredibly dishonest.
You're about to see Kristen Welker does the same shit. She gets incredibly dishonest with it because she's going to reiterate the same question.
Are you going to raise taxes is what I just asked you?
And again, the answer is I am going to net save you money. That's how it should be answered.I don't even don't even say anything on the tax part. You could unless you do a full explanation, but just say I am going to save you money.
Very clear you're describing this trade -off.You are effectively acknowledging that people making less than a million dollars could see their taxes go up.I just want to be very clear. Is that a yes?
I'm saying that we'd be paying for health care in a different way.Instead of paying a health insurance company whose CEO makes $20 million, I would much rather pay for durable health care into a government which, of course, we all know provides health care for seniors who need health care the most.So if I'm trading paying a CEO to make more money or paying government to guarantee me health care, I'm picking the latter every time.
All right, let's talk about another big issue that dominated the campaign and will undoubtedly be a big topic of conversation in the general election, your criticism of Israel.President Trump had this to say after your win this week.I'm going to play it.
reaction on the other side take a look he doesn't love israel he doesn't love jewish people he hates them he hates them with a passion that burns in his heart what's your reaction to that i mean let's that's just rank islamophobia right like can we just call
that what it is?That is just flat out bigotry from Trump.
I love and revere Judaism and the Jewish people.I believe they're a light unto the world.I grew up in a community that had a large Jewish population.I was so grateful to get to be invited to Seder and to Shul and to Bar and Bat Mitzvahs.I'm really honored for what I learned and got to share with my Jewish sisters and brothers. But they are not the same as AIPAC in Israel.
AIPAC is an organization that spent, what, $30 million to beat me so that we could, they could have one vote, one more vote in the U .S.Senate to guarantee that our taxpayer dollars would be sent abroad to subsidize a foreign government's military to do the worst things.Genocide, apartheid, take us into wars we have no business fighting. And I'm running for Senate here in Michigan.I believe that we have a responsibility here in Michigan.
I want our tax dollars spent to provide good schools.to pay for health care, to rebuild our roads here in Michigan rather than it being sent abroad to subsidize foreign militaries. That's not just Israel, by the way. That is also Egypt and Saudi Arabia and Jordan and Pakistan. So I believe in international law.I believe in equal rights to peace, dignity and self -determination for all people.
I believe in a process that allows a free Palestinian people and free Jewish Israeli people to come together around what they believe the ultimate peace should look like. And I believe that our tax dollars should be spent on the things that are needed here in Michigan rather than to subsidize foreign militaries abroad.
Let me follow up with you on that point. You've said you've just reiterated that you would rule out unconditional foreign military military aid to Israel, just to be very clear, is there any scenario where you would approve more aid to Israel, more military aid in any form?
Well, if we were in a scenario where there were equal rights to peace, dignity and self -determination for the Palestinian people and Jewish Israeli people, and they had come together to achieve that ultimate peace, and there were circumstances in which that was guaranteed, there would be a very, very different circumstance. But for right now, we are in a situation where we are continuously subsidizing the military of a state that has behaved in ways that can only be described as rogue. You think about the genocide in Gaza, you think about the continued attempt to annex southern Lebanon. These are things that we cannot subsidize, considering the fact that we have kids who need better schools, and better roads and bridges uh... and better health care here in america
You're saying you would not support sending aid to Israel, which was attacked.
She can't help it.It's just no matter how clear he is and concise he is and to the point he is like, let's spend our tax money here, not on psychopathic genociders. She just keeps going, but what about Israel? But what about Israel?Oh my God, bro.Oh my God.
I really feel like moments like this only drive Israel's poll numbers down further.Because it's like, why do they get 78 questions asked about them when like...Who was it?Jon Stewart said to Federman, like, you know, we're a whole ass different country, right? You know, they're not part of us, right?Oh, my God.

Get started freeBy Hamas. But you have also said that you would support sending military aid to Ukraine, which was, of course, attacked and invaded by Russia.Where do you draw the line there?
Oh, my God.
I hate that question so much.Oh, my days.
She's trying to say that, you know, if you're being consistent, you'd also send money to Israel.because you're for sending money to Ukraine, except that's not true at all.If you're in favor of Ukraine's right to self -defense, then you would support them, right? But by the same token, you would support the Palestinians' right to self -defense.The, like, analogous thing for the different conflicts is sending money to Ukraine and sending money to Palestinians to defend themselves against the fucking genocide. She flipped it and reversed it completely.
That is insane to try to pretend, like, you know, oh, Russia's the aggressor, which they are, but also, like, the Palestinians are the aggressors. But they're not. They're not the aggressors.Like, that's why, you know, my sympathies lie with the Ukrainians, and my sympathies lie with the Palestinians, because we just watched a fucking livestream genocide done by Israel, where, October 7th, they did, like, what, a hundred October 7ths?Over - more than that?Over and over and over.
Uh, like, Hello, it's very clear that this has nothing to do with self -defense, this has nothing to do with like, you know, protecting themselves.Whereas on the flip side, for Ukraine, they are actually protecting themselves. They were illegally and offensively invaded by Russia, a country that Ukraine didn't attack.Russia attacked them.So they flipped it and reversed it.Like, we're supposed to feel like Ukraine is analogous.
to fucking Israel, that's ridiculous.
responsibility to uphold international law and therefore to support Ukraine and its efforts.
You have said, and I want to talk about your political identity now, you have said you're not a Democratic Socialist. You were backed by Senator Bernie Sanders, who of course proudly says he is a Democratic Socialist. You've even attended events hosted by the Democratic Socialists of America.Where do you differ from Senator Sanders? Is there one policy issue where you can point out a difference?
Capitalism, you know, I'm a scientist and I believe in good, thoughtful, evidence -based solutions to problems. When it comes to the question of capitalism, allocating capital based on supply and demand at the level at which it's supposed to work, where you have free entry and exit into markets, I support that idea.I understand right now, though, that we don't live under capitalism, we live under corporatism.you have huge corporations that have used their power, in effect, to try and buy politicians, so that those politicians will turn around and help them use government to protect their position in markets. That is anti -capitalist.And look, you can go back to Adam Smith, the guy who coined the idea of capitalism, and he understood that the biggest risk to capitalism was not government regulation, it was always monopoly and oligopoly.
If you think about the circumstances that we live under right now, the power of the biggest players in almost every market, both to squeeze labor to pay us less and to raise prices so that we have to pay more, that has beenanti -capitalist on its own terms. And so it's not that you have to be a socialist to believe that the government has a role in protecting a market, or guaranteeing us healthcare, or fixing our roads and bridges, or providing us good schools. It's that you have to understand what capitalism is and how it works.
says something that's like not in line with how we think we feel like all the emotions start flooding back and we get you know we have a very short fuse and we're very willing to throw people under the bus immediately you have to realize he's a muslim guy with the name abdul who's running in michigan okay you got to give him some space to let him cook you got to do it in the same way i thought we learned this lesson with zoran when we all got mad at him Because, you know, he made an alliance with HOKL.But then it turns out that shit actually worked.Zoran was able to deliver on a bunch of his promises because of his alliance with HOKL.Now, we didn't like that because HOKL is a corporate Democrat. But you got to trust that there there's a long term vision. And when they say certain things that might not jive with how you or I think, like, it's okay, because you'll see the payoff eventually.
And that's what ended up happening with Zoran. That's when I said about Zoran, look, I gotta give him some space and I gotta let him cook.I can't criticize every little thing he does that doesn't... jive with how I think because clearly he's he's he's politicking right like he's he's moving in a way behind the scenes that tries to facilitate the best outcomes possible and I think the same thing is happening with Abdul here right like and by the way Bernie of course Bernie also believes in supply and demand and Bernie is functionally more of a social democrat than a democratic socialist I know he calls himself a democratic socialist he's more of a social democrat but like for him to say oh my disagreement with Bernie's on capitalism Let him cook, give him some space, and he'll still be a voter.all the proper things. So I just don't want people to flip out and sort of act like we're being betrayed instantaneously when this is not really a betrayal. It's called politics and he's doing, you know, politicking type shit to try to win an election at this moment.
Here we go.
I want to give you an opportunity to respond to some of the other attacks against you. This is an ad by the Republican Party.Take a look.
Abdulrahman Mohamed El -Sayed, the most radical Senate candidate in America.El -Sayed pledged support for the leader of the Muslim Brotherhood, a designated foreign terrorist group.
Radical?Dangerous?How do you respond?
We always knew they were going to go here.I mean, notice how they chose to use my full name in echoes to exactly what they did against President Obama. At the end of the day, it's not radical to believe that people should be able to afford their groceries. It's not radical to believe that you should have health care in this country. It's not radical to believe that you don't think the president should be able to deny elections or make $2 .2 billion off of his role in office. It's not radical to believe.

Get started freethat all to build an America that's more just, that's more equitable, that's more sustainable, that's more empowering, that's more American than the vision that Donald Trump, J .D.Vance, and Mike Rogers have for it.
Oh my God, he cooked them!Oh my days! This is exactly what I'm saying.Every time they try to hit us with like, you're an extremist, you're a terrorist, you're crazy, like it's never gonna work because the immediate reaction is, it's not extreme to give people healthcare. It's not extreme to give people education. It's not extreme to deliver higher wages.
It's not extreme to tax the rich and redistribute that to people of color.lower end of the economic ladder. It's not extreme to end your illegal wars of aggression, you fucking idiots. And they got nothing in response to that, bro. That is check and mate.
You know, you face scrutiny for campaigning with socialist streamer Hassan Piker, who has made a series of inflammatory comments, as you well know, including saying America deserved 9 -11, describing Hamas as a lesser evil than Israel.Do you plan to continue?
That part is just like mathematically accurate. Can we be serious here?Like it's a mathematical fact that Hamas has killed fewer civilians than the IDF has. There's no debate. That's just math.
That's just numbers. You to campaign with Hassan Piker in the general election campaign?
Look, I'm less concerned now with who I'm campaigning with, a lot more concerned about who I'm campaigning to.We've got a lot of work to do to continue to build the coalition that's going to be Mike Rogers.
Would you welcome him, though? On the campaign trail with you?
Like I said, I'm a lot more focused on who I'm campaigning to.So I think we have this notion sometimes on shows like this that we cannot or should not talk to certain groups of people. And I'll tell you that the three million people who listen to Hassan are people I want to make sure understand that there's a pathway into our politics around getting money out of politics so we can put money back in pockets and pass Medicare for all.And so I'm going to continue to have the conversations with those folks who we desperately need to reach out to, just like I'm going to continue to have conversations with seniors in senior homes, folks up north, folks in Detroit, folks in Grand Rapids. So, again, I'm a lot more focused on who I'm campaigning to rather than who I might campaign with.
When asked about Hassan Piker's comments on 9 -11, Senator Bernie Sanders called it a dumb statement.Do you agree?Do you disavow those comments that America deserved 9 -11?
Oh, my God.
Of course.Of course it was a dumb statement. And of course, I think Hassan himself would say that was a dumb statement. He disavowed it.So yes, America didn't deserve 9 -11.But, you know, to sit here and play gotcha politics with a dumb thing somebody said out of context that they disavowed themselves to say, oh, well, what does that mean about what you think?
I want to be held accountable for what I say and what I do, rather than this idea that we're so stuck in cancel culture that all of us agreed was a bad idea back in 2020, but we seem to want to bring back.
Oh, snap, son!Oh, he flipped the cancel culture bullshit right back on them!Oh, yes!Can we stop with this baby brain shit? What Hassan was talking about is the CIA concept known as blowback. In other words, if we fuck with these different countries in the Middle East, and we steal their shit, and we bomb their kids, then eventually, the chickens come home to roost, and they come after us.
And that's what the America Deserved 9 -11 quote was about. It's not like Hassan is literally in favor of the planes hitting the towers and the tanks, towers coming down and the civilians dying, and the fact that anybody would pretend like that is the case, I'm sorry, is just deeply bigoted and deeply Islamophobic. The other point that many people have made is, Bill Maher said, The 9 -11 hijackers were not cowards. And he got fired from his show, Politically Incorrect, on ABC News after he said that. Not a single centrist candidate who goes on Bill Maher's show regularly or calls Bill Maher a friend, not a single one of them has been grailed about their association with Bill Maher and about Bill Maher saying that the 9 -11 terrorists weren't cowards. But Hassan gets brought up 78 different times in every interview with a candidate who he's affiliated with.
It is complete bullshit. And by the way, this is not gonna work. This is not going to work because the fact of the matter is, Abdul is always going to redirect, say, stop with your cancel culture bullshit.Let's talk about health care.Let's talk about higher wages.Let's talk about ending the wars.
But it's so desperate.Oh, my word. This is how you know they have nothing because it's so desperate.
We are out of time, but I have to ask you before I let you go, if you win, you will be the very first Muslim to serve in the Senate. What would that mean to you, Dr. Al -Sayed?
