Yes, absolutely. I will say, being honest, it didn't feel like you were gone for a while. Because I think it was just like, your presence here is such a big aspect of everything, and the videos that you were in were still coming out for so long. Yeah, that's true.

I don't know, and then I think it was like maybe a month and a half in, it was suddenly just one week, it was like, damn, where's Amanda? And then, yeah, then it started to really hit.

Everybody was, I got bullied a lot in videos.

and that's why I wear big, comfy sweaters now,

And I'm like, it's almost Christmas. Like, joking aside, it is. Don't even say that. I can't handle that. I'm already, I'm still in my post-Halloween victory lap. Wow. I just haven't taken down my decorations yet. But like, no, I really like, I watch a lot of Smosh just in my spare time.

Like, I wanna keep up to date on it. And it's also like, I get to see Amanda, but I'm like, I haven't seen Amanda in a while. And I really did have these moments of just like, damn, I miss you, but you're off doing important life stuff.

I know. It's very trippy to be back here having gone through everything I went through. And then being back here and being like, hey guys, six, seven, you know what I'm saying? It's like pretty cool stuff.

It's wild because as a new mom you go, am I even funny? Am I even relevant? Are people gonna care what I have to say? Is it like, am I past my time?

You're gonna feel this desire to cut your hair real short. You should not do it.

Wait, a mom cut?

Mom cut. I should have put on a wig and entered.

Surprised us all.

And just surprised us all and done like, cause why do moms cut their hair that short?

I think they just don't have time for things cause so much is expected of them. So I'm assuming it's just like no maintenance. You know what I think it is? No maintenance.

I think it's because your kid pulls on your hair.

Yes, for four months my hair has been tightly back or braided because they pull on your hair.

It's got like a tactile learning style.

Yeah, exactly, they like to climb. Yeah, your head.

Wow, that's great.

Interesting. I've learned a lot, you guys. I bet. Yeah. And it's gotta be weird to hop back into this because I imagine it was a lot of just you being stuck in your home.

Do you know what's wild is like, my biggest fear was being stuck, right, in my home and feeling like I didn't get out. I weirdly loved a lot of it because I will say to be a new mom, you have to call on your people. You have to have your people. Like I had my mom, I had my sister, I had really close friends.

And it's uncomfortable. It's uncomfortable to call on them and ask for help. But the ones who know you really well are like we gotta get outside. They're like we gotta take a shower. They remind you things because as a mom,

your only focus is to feed your son, right? And that is not enough. It's not enough for him, it's not enough for you, it's not enough for your partner. Like you have to, my mom calls it like you have to feed all the different parts of yourself when you're a new mom.

You have to remember like, oh, I like to journal. Oh, I like to read. I like to shower. God, I love to wash my hair. But it's like all those little things that we do all the time, we take for granted. Like this morning, he was still asleep when I woke up. I had a cup of coffee just by myself in the kitchen.

Wow.

have a focus on yourself while going through this whole new journey.

Yeah, because I hear a lot of new moms say, and my God, new moms are just like heroes, true heroes, and I hear a lot of them say like, I miss my old self, right? I miss that part of myself, but I think it's really important

to like grieve your old self. And simply when you're a mom, every single week it's like you're grieving a new milestone.

Yeah. Oh wow.

And which is so intense. It is so exhausting, but like you do not have enough room in your body and in your soul to like hold all of the new emotions and love and like all these new thoughts. So you literally have to like grieve parts of that.

And I feel like your old self just starts to go away. Yeah, it's almost like a, I feel like it's like a cracking, and you have to pick up the pieces, and a lot of the pieces that used to fit just really don't fit anymore. And you have to put all these new pieces on,

and you're like, oh, I don't know about this. But it's like, yeah, I just learned a lot. I'm just a different person and in a really good way. Like I feel like I'm much more patient. I have trouble watching true crime, which is just.

I was gonna joke about that honestly, but that's crazy.

Damien, it's real. I could not listen to Dateline. And do you know how awful that was for me?

That's wild. Like, awful. Say goodbye to your old self, I guess.

I've always had trouble with true crime, and maybe it's because, like, you know, I've got my cats, and in a way I'm a papa myself.

No, you are definitely a papa. Like, you know that thing when you come home and you're like, oh, nothing else matters but seeing their face?

My cannonball of a daughter just, yeah, just glomping down the stairs.

Yeah, but I will say, I'm slowly starting to get back in the true crime, but like, there were things I just couldn't watch and now if I watch like a son or a child

in any bit of danger. Sure. They do that bit on, I feel like Spencer, it's a family guy bit, where like, Brian has like, somehow finds out he has a long lost son named Dylan. And they're just like, oh dude, watch, Brian's changed. Hey dude, think about Dylan being in danger,

like on a train, he's like, oh my god, oh my God, no, no, no, no, I can't even think about it, no, no, no, no. He's like, what if Dylan was in a fire? He's like, oh my God, no, no, no, no, I can't even, I can't even, stop, stop, stop.

Yeah.

That's so, that's literally what it is. Your thoughts are, I was telling Shane this, this is so crazy, but you have these weird, put Cole, my son, down, that he would somehow get up, open the door, and have a full man's body on him,

but his baby head.

Whoa!

I seriously had a thought that he'd open it and go, mom? And like a baby giraffe, like his legs were just full body, like he was six feet tall, but he had his little baby head.

Oh my God.

Yeah, that's a nightmare.

So yeah, I'm admitting this.

Right here. I think that's pretty cool.

I just, it's just how powerful your baby is like right off the start.

I think it's this fear of like they're gonna grow up really, really, really.

Really fast. and you're like, yeah, they're one month. It is wild, like, cause I have nieces and nephews and how, you know, I don't see them every day, I don't see them every week, but I see them every few months and it's just like, every few months, just like, and holy shit.

I know. What the hell happened? And it's gotta be really trippy to be with them every day and especially early on where it's like, oh, they're suddenly laughing now.

What the fuck is this?

Oh my god, I can't wait till we're there. We're not at laughing, but we're at silent big smiles. Have you ever seen someone smile so big but it's silent? Yeah, that's what I experience all the time.

It's just like.

Out of curiosity, what's gonna be the thing for you where you don't wanna push your life on your kids necessarily, but if we get to a milestone where Cole is just like, that thing, are you like, for me it's like when my nephew was apparently getting into Pokemon and was like, this is my favorite,

I drew it, and I'm just like.

Like, what's that for you, if not true crime?

4 a.m. pumping.

That's another thing that I'm like, I think I told Ian and Anthony and I definitely told Shane like full detail of my birth story. And then I was like, did you guys wanna hear that? And you guys were so sweet, like yeah.

Not bothered by it what an honor to have that shared in that way You know what? I mean? Like you're going through a lot like I don't I don't think there's any way to Anyone here who would be like, oh like, you know, we're all adults and like that's part of it's tough

You know if you don't like medical stuff like me

Well, I don't mind I don't mind hearing medical stuff wouldn't know it from that Beopardy yesterday yesterday and now everyone has the full timeline of what is filmed when. Yeah, no it was, hearing it was absolutely insane though.

And I've heard other people describe like labor and their birth story, but I feel like every time I've heard someone talk about it there's something new I learn.

Yeah.

Like, oh, I didn't know about that aspect of it.

Yeah.

And look, I respect it. I think it's amazing that you went through all that and can handle all that. It sounds awful. People, when people go like, oh, the miracle of childbirth, I'm like, I don't know, sounds awful.

Like, I don't know if it sounds like a miracle to me. It sounds like a sci-fi movie, but I'm glad you got through it, and bravo. Like the alien and predator? Yeah, that's what's happening. Truly, like, I have so much respect for people who go through it.

I did think recently, I was in New Zealand and got to see, like, I actually got to see a couple kiwi birds. Got to see a couple people give birth. Got to see a couple people give birth. That's awesome. They just do it on the street there, it's great. Oh. No, like, healthcare system's so fine, it's whatever. But no, if a kiwi's this big, its egg is like this big. And I'm like, oh my God, why would nature do that?

And then I'm like, that's kind of like people.

That's literally.

Yeah, really. but your baby is huge. It's like, I remember in it thinking, this is the most effed up thing I've ever done in my life.

Yeah.

Like I wasn't like, oh my God, I'm connecting to a higher spirit. I was like, this is the most effed up thing I've ever seen in my life. And I gripped Garday's hand to the point of crushing bones.

But you know what?

Yeah. But when it was all said and done, I was like, I am the most incredible woman on this planet. Like I was like, I.

I am incredible and every other woman is incredible. And the nurses are, there was this nurse that literally, Garday was like, you can call me Papa H, and she was like, okay, Daddy. She only called him Daddy, and she was like just the greatest person ever,

and she was so calm, and I was screaming, and she was just like, Daddy, mommy doesn't look so good right now, so Daddy needs to, like she was just.

I love that.

All the nurses were, I love them so much

I can't imagine the alternative where she's like you're acting really intense right now. She's like you're kind of You need to chill. No, imagine your nurse being overwhelmed. You'd be like, uh

We've never seen this before

Most of them just tap dance out like Michigan J frog

We haven't seen this anywhere call in the the main doctor. And you're just like, what? No, like.

I mean, kinda.

That's what they were invented for.

Yeah. I will say one thing, and I've already told Shane this, is that it felt like there was a rocket ship deep inside of me that was ready to delatch from my walls and burst out of my bottom half. And that my bottom half was gonna go to space,

and my top half was gonna stay on the bed.

So the epidural was damn good, huh?

Oh yeah, it came kinda late.

You know when you try to hold out?

Yeah, I know that, hey. Hey. I feel you.

But yeah, you know what?

He's here, he's super healthy, and that's literally all I could ask for, and he is the sweetest little boy ever. And my mom told me that like she doesn't see me in him at all, which is super sweet.

No, he looks like eight. Are you sure it's yours? Honestly, I don't know. Do you imagine if I was like, this isn't mine.

Yeah, turn to the nurse and you're like, how dare you? You were shouting out something's very sweet about nurses and then I made a chainsaw joke. So I just wanna. No, no, nurses literally. It's shocking to think like they are just doing that all day, every day.

And I will say, I would like to learn from them because they have a really good job of being kind, empathetic slash like, I'm holding a firm boundary here. We need to get you up. Like, no. Like, I really, really appreciated them.

I will say birth was the scariest thing in my mind ever. Like skydiving, fine, scary. Birth was like, this is the scariest thing. Like I don't even know if I want a child. Luckily I was able to have a kid and then the birth happened and now I'm like,

oh, I did that. I can go back to Smosh Math. I can do TNTL. Yeah, if you can did that. I can go back to Smosh Math. I can do TNTL.

Yeah, if you can do that, I think you can, I think this is pretty easy in comparison. I can do Try Not to Laugh Blind Pairs.

We did Blind Pairs yesterday and I was like, can I do this? And Shane's like, yeah.

Yeah, but wait till you play This Is Not a Hat. I've heard a lot of hubbub about that and I don't. I watched that episode, that's what that game is. It's a tough game.

I wanna play, cause I can do anything.

It's pretty hard, I don't know.

I bet I can give birth to that hat.

I feel amazing. Being a mom is like a very wonderful spiritual experience. It's like, oh my God, that was hard. And then it's like, oh, I get it. Do you know what I mean?

How long after you brought the baby home did you have time to do anything? Or when did you finally have time to watch a TV show? Or read an article?

TV show was weeks. I read consistently. I read. TV show was weeks, I read consistently. I read up until he was born and I read literally day one. Because you are, I was pumping like nonstop every, I was pumping nine times a day. So that was every two hours.

All day, 24 hours.

Me at the gym.

Oh gross.

Let's go.

God, boys. Yeah, pumping weights is exactly the same as pumping milk from your body that you feed your son to grow.

which was like really fun.

But I'd be shocked if there wasn't.

But I would say a show. First of all, H and I barely saw each other. It was like ships in the night.

So a show on my own probably took like, we did re-watch Portlandia because I really needed a lot.

It was so good. I think that was like three weeks.

But like us watching a movie,

I don't even know if we've done it yet.

Yeah. Like think about a long period of time. Like Frankenstein just came out. And I'm like, oh I wanna watch it. Two and a half hours.

I know. Two and a half hours. I'm still trying to watch Frankenstein. I'm like, oh, I got time. Oh, wait, no, it's 10.30. I probably shouldn't start it now. Courtney and I watched it. I loved it. But I also love the look of Guillermo del Toro's just anything.

And hey, I'll shout him out. Spencer's a hater. Yeah, he hates it. so I don't feel bad, but he's also a fan of the book. No, let's burn him right here. Let's, you know, yeah, let's beat the shit out of him. Mary Shelley would have hated Spencer. No, I think it's good that Spencer hated it because I'd heard a lot of good stuff.

Spencer hated it, someone else here was like, nah, so I'm like, great, now my expectations are back to normal. Maybe I'll watch it over the course of a month. I think you'll like it, it's a gorgeous movie. But yeah, pause it, watch it. Yeah. But anyways.

H has tried, it is constant. He'll literally go, why are we even searching for a show when there's one show you should be watching?

It is, okay. I'm very glad I didn't start it when I was pregnant because it is a disgusting, really hard show. But I started it. I said yes, finally. And it is so good.

And so messed up. It is so effed up. I don't know what was more effed up, my birth or like Breaking Bad.

It's a messed up show.

It's a really messed up show, but I'm super into it. Also, 2000's style is bad. So bad. Like she's making her baby room and it's like, it's very bad. So I'm struggling with that aspect, but.

Was it just a matter of like not being in the mood or like are you, I'm kind of this way where people are like, you have to watch this, you need to see it. And the more people like laid on thick,

the more I'm like, I kind of don't really want to now, there's like a lot of pressure. I am 100% like that, Damien. And I told my husband multiple times, I was like, so the more you push, the more I don't wanna watch it. And he's like, okay, well.

You can lead a horse to water, but it doesn't want that water.

Yeah, it doesn't want that water until it does, and it's breaking bad. And I'm watching it. and how much, you were watching Smosh Mouth while you were gone. I was. I was watching Smosh Mouth, I did see that Angela reveal that I do read all the call sheets.

That was hilarious, a hilarious reveal.

It was like a private conversation that her and I had.

But no, it's totally.

Now to be fair, because we got so in the nitty gritty with things, there wasn't as much opportunity for like, you know, if we have like a reality show episode It'll be like alright so for those at home We don't know there was this big thing that happened and dotted out of that We give context and the Pokemon one It was just like it probably sounded like a different language that we were just like oh yeah

I like guard of war and guard of wars can fly and

It's hard to explain. It's hard to like yeah explain from The basics the foundation of what Pokemon is. I guess it's a game. I can't wait until Cole just somehow falls into something nerdy that the rest of us love that you're gonna be like, okay, I guess I have to fully understand Pokemon now.

I actually, watching Breaking Bad was the first step of the new Amanda.

I know, and I know, I totally know.

Next you're gonna be like, now I'm getting into cooking.

I'm changing, I think I need to start getting into some more nerdy culture, which I've always been down for. I think I need to get a Russian tutor.

You're gonna start learning Russian. Yeah, I don't even know what that means. You're gonna start learning Russian. So you can finally understand your husband.

So I can do way better impressions of my husband.

Also his mom comes over and she only speaks Russian, which is what we want. I would love Cole to speak Russian and speak English.

Pimsleur. Pimsleur is what I use for language learning. Pimsleur. P-I-M-S-L-E-U-R. It's language learning that basically has you like repeat a phrase, but it'll have you like repeat individual parts of it. So it'll be like, you know,

da-da-da-da-da-da, how are you? Good morning. And then it'll like say that again. And then maybe a couple lessons later, they'll be like, how do you say, how are you, good morning? And you go, da da da da da. They're like, you just learned the word for good evening. How would you say, hello, good evening? And then you sort of put it together and you go, oh, now I know why this sentence structure

is the way it is, and now if I learn vocabulary, I can just plop it in. So for the little bit of Japanese. the Japanese that I learned for our trip and got by, that was all Pimsleur. I've just started Mandarin Pimsleur, but I'm deciding between that, or maybe I divert to Korean.

I'm not sure between Mandarin or Korean. But anyway, just point is, it's a lot more accessible to just listen to and go through your day and repeat it, like it's muscle memory and practice.

So that's amazing.

And you've got such a great situation where once you learn enough, then it's just like you have people who speak it. So you get to immerse yourself in it more. And if you just kind of draw that line of like, let's stick to that as much as possible.

Your grandmother and aides just start learning Tagalog so that they can still talk about you in the room. No, I know, I'm like, oh, they're not gonna be able

to talk about me.

Sorry, we're speaking Swedish now for some reason.

But yeah, Helena, Garde's mom is so funny. I was like, oh, I wanna get a Russian tutor. She's like, don't do Russian tutor. Like, well, I have a friend in Belarus. She'll teach you at four in the morning. That's the time. And I'm like, I just want to go through a service and pay it. Like I don't, you know, she's very much like my mom.

Like, oh, I have a guy. And I know that's fun and cool, but I just wanna, you know.

I get it. She wants to help, but also like, yeah, I know the feeling of needing to now make yourself way less, sorry, I'm just stumbling through the words. The feeling of having to super inconvenience yourself in order to let someone else feel like they've helped.

Yeah, exactly, exactly.

But I mean, teaching a language is that such a skill in itself. You wanna make sure you got someone to trust. But then once you know enough, then yeah, you talk to the people you know.

I just think it's gonna be so wild to watch my son grow up and like, how is he gonna like code switch and like do these like English and Russian like.

It'll be super cool.
