Hi, welcome to Smosh Mouth. I'm Shane. And for the final time, I'm Damien Haas. It has been the greatest honor of my life to co-host this podcast.

0:12

And joining us today is Amanda Leigh Hancanto.

0:15

Whoa!

0:18

She's back!

0:19

I'm back and I'm in this seat.

0:22

And you're, cause you're the guest for right now, unless you do, how do you feel about that?

0:28

So have I been replaced?

0:31

Well, no.

0:33

Yeah, well, in a way, for a minute. Yeah, until today, and then you get it back.

0:38

Yeah.

0:39

So why am I not in my seat?

0:41

I thought I handed off at the end, and it's just like, well go get him, tiger. Is that what you said, Shane?

0:45

Is that what you said he could do?

0:46

Forget what I said, but you know, you're back so whatever you wanna do.

0:50

No, no, no, it's cool that you boys are having fun.

0:56

Yeah, yeah, it's been fun.

1:00

Yeah, no, I've been watching.

1:01

Yeah, in the dark at four in the morning while I'm pumping breast milk.

1:05

What are you, Ian?

1:08

He wishes, honey.

1:11

He wishes.

1:12

Six, seven.

1:13

No, you cannot, Amanda, you've been back for a minute.

1:17

Guys, I left and let me tell you honey, period. I'm a different girl.

1:24

I forgot your kid is a gen alpha.

1:27

Oh my God, my kid is almost four months and guys, I'm cool.

1:31

Is your kid gen alpha? Is that, or is that the next, that's the next one?

1:35

What's the next one? Your kid's a damn beta.

1:37

No, wait, what's the next one?

1:40

What is after gen alpha?

1:41

What is my son? Gen beta. What is what's after gen alpha my son gen beta?

1:47

Well

1:50

18th birthday, I don't like this. No

1:58

Anyways, we've cultivated a rancid vibe to start. Yeah, I love it. Yeah. Wow. Welcome back. Yeah guys pretty cool

2:06

That was all it took. I thought I was gonna have to fight.

2:07

Yeah.

2:08

I actually was ready. Yeah. If you wanted me to.

2:11

Oh, we're trading, that's better. That's even better.

2:13

Oh yeah.

2:13

We're trading seats.

2:14

That's nice. No, bring in Jacksepticeye again. Yeah, you're gonna sit right there. Oh, Jacksepticeye was awesome. Second Amanda, remember those days? Jacksepticeye was just so cool.

2:25

Guys, please don't.

2:25

I'm kidding, we're kidding. He commented on one of my photos recently, it was just so funny. Oh, he's the best.

2:31

Did you guys miss me at all or what's the deal?

2:34

Okay, for being earnest here, let's be earnest.

2:37

It's important.

2:38

Yes, absolutely. I will say, being honest, it didn't feel like you were gone for a while. Because I think it was just like, your presence here is such a big aspect of everything, and the videos that you were in were still coming out for so long. Yeah, that's true.

2:56

I don't know, and then I think it was like maybe a month and a half in, it was suddenly just one week, it was like, damn, where's Amanda? And then, yeah, then it started to really hit.

3:06

Now you, Damien?

3:09

Everybody was, I got bullied a lot in videos.

3:12

No!

3:15

No one was there to protect you.

3:16

No one was there to protect me,

3:18

and that's why I wear big, comfy sweaters now,

3:20

so I feel comfortable. Oh, you're all cushioned off. Yeah, I'm all cushioned up. Honey, I'm here.

3:26

Thank you, mom.

3:26

And I'm so sorry. Yeah, I have another son now and it's Damien. I'm so sorry that I left you.

3:32

If I call you mommy, is HR gonna get involved?

3:37

Mommy, mama-cita.

3:39

Yes, mommy.

3:40

Yeah.

3:40

Mama-cita. I'm giving you your seat. And I did not watch, I did not watch the whole show, Love Island, I watched that clip, one clip. Yeah. I know you guys told me to watch it, but I.

3:52

Oh, the I'm a mommy.

3:53

It really hits how long you were gone when we started talking about things from July.

3:59

Yeah.

3:59

And I'm like, it's almost Christmas. Like, joking aside, it is. Don't even say that. I can't handle that. I'm already, I'm still in my post-Halloween victory lap. Wow. I just haven't taken down my decorations yet. But like, no, I really like, I watch a lot of Smosh just in my spare time.

4:15

Like, I wanna keep up to date on it. And it's also like, I get to see Amanda, but I'm like, I haven't seen Amanda in a while. And I really did have these moments of just like, damn, I miss you, but you're off doing important life stuff.

4:33

I know. It's very trippy to be back here having gone through everything I went through. And then being back here and being like, hey guys, six, seven, you know what I'm saying? It's like pretty cool stuff.

4:48

It's wild because as a new mom you go, am I even funny? Am I even relevant? Are people gonna care what I have to say? Is it like, am I past my time?

You're gonna feel this desire to cut your hair real short. You should not do it.

5:05

Wait, a mom cut?

5:06

Mom cut.

5:07

Mom cut. I should have put on a wig and entered.

5:11

Surprised us all.

5:12

And just surprised us all and done like, cause why do moms cut their hair that short?

5:17

I think they just don't have time for things cause so much is expected of them. So I'm assuming it's just like no maintenance. You know what I think it is? No maintenance.

5:25

I think it's because your kid pulls on your hair.

5:29

Oh.

5:30

Yes, for four months my hair has been tightly back or braided because they pull on your hair.

5:37

It's got like a tactile learning style.

5:38

Yeah, exactly, they like to climb. Yeah, your head.

5:41

Wow, that's great.

5:42

Interesting. I've learned a lot, you guys. I bet. Yeah. And it's gotta be weird to hop back into this because I imagine it was a lot of just you being stuck in your home.

5:54

Do you know what's wild is like, my biggest fear was being stuck, right, in my home and feeling like I didn't get out. I weirdly loved a lot of it because I will say to be a new mom, you have to call on your people. You have to have your people. Like I had my mom, I had my sister, I had really close friends.

6:13

And it's uncomfortable. It's uncomfortable to call on them and ask for help. But the ones who know you really well are like we gotta get outside. They're like we gotta take a shower. They remind you things because as a mom,

6:26

your only focus is to feed your son, right? And that is not enough. It's not enough for him, it's not enough for you, it's not enough for your partner. Like you have to, my mom calls it like you have to feed all the different parts of yourself when you're a new mom.

6:40

You have to remember like, oh, I like to journal. Oh, I like to read. I like to shower. God, I love to wash my hair. But it's like all those little things that we do all the time, we take for granted. Like this morning, he was still asleep when I woke up. I had a cup of coffee just by myself in the kitchen.

7:00

Wow.

7:01

Both hands on a cup.

7:03

That's a damn commercial.

7:04

Literally.

7:05

Like, I'm choosing me today.

7:07

Yeah.

7:08

Ask your doctor about.

7:08

No, but yeah, literally.

7:11

This episode of Smosh Mouth is brought to you by ZocDoc.

7:14

I am so glad we're talking about this because I'm a new mom and there are so many baby appointments and appointments for me, I just need it to be easy and ZocDoc is so easy and quick.

7:25

Yeah, absolutely. ZocDoc is a free app and website where you can search and compare high quality in-network doctors and click to instantly book an appointment. I was someone who delayed all doctor's appointments

7:38

for so long, right? But when I finally was like, I need to go to the doctor, but it's complicated finding the right doctor. I wanna make sure I'm seeing the right one and that it's gonna be convenient. The app makes it so simple. I was able to search for nearby doctors,

7:51

same day appointments if I needed it. Any type of filter I wanted to put on it, I could. It was awesome. I had a doctor's appointment set that week.

7:58

I love that, especially same day appointments, which is so hard to get. Also, can we talk about the app? I literally only have one hand free all the time because I got a baby in the other one. It's true. And it takes like a few steps just to get what you need on the app and it is so easy, like thank you.

8:15

Stop putting off those doctor's appointments and go to ZocDoc.com slash SmoshMouth to find and instantly book a top rated doctor today. That's zocdoc.com slash smoshmouth. Zocdoc.com slash smoshmouth. Back to the show.

8:34

Oh, wow. You like what I did there?

8:36

You miss that?

8:38

I did an alley-oop.

8:39

You had two basketballs.

8:40

You made them both. You got both hands free now. I mean, from every conversation I've had with you, it feels like you've put in a lot of effort in like not losing your identity. Like really staying, like it's important to kind of

8:58

have a focus on yourself while going through this whole new journey.

9:01

Yeah, because I hear a lot of new moms say, and my God, new moms are just like heroes, true heroes, and I hear a lot of them say like, I miss my old self, right? I miss that part of myself, but I think it's really important

9:19

to like grieve your old self. And simply when you're a mom, every single week it's like you're grieving a new milestone.

9:27

Yeah. Oh wow.

9:27

And which is so intense. It is so exhausting, but like you do not have enough room in your body and in your soul to like hold all of the new emotions and love and like all these new thoughts. So you literally have to like grieve parts of that.

9:44

And I feel like your old self just starts to go away. Yeah, it's almost like a, I feel like it's like a cracking, and you have to pick up the pieces, and a lot of the pieces that used to fit just really don't fit anymore. And you have to put all these new pieces on,

10:00

and you're like, oh, I don't know about this. But it's like, yeah, I just learned a lot. I'm just a different person and in a really good way. Like I feel like I'm much more patient. I have trouble watching true crime, which is just.

10:14

I was gonna joke about that honestly, but that's crazy.

10:18

Damien, it's real. I could not listen to Dateline. And do you know how awful that was for me?

10:22

That's wild. Like, awful. Say goodbye to your old self, I guess.

10:27

No, seriously.

10:28

I've always had trouble with true crime, and maybe it's because, like, you know, I've got my cats, and in a way I'm a papa myself.

10:34

You're a papa.

10:35

I'm a papa myself, and now I, you know, you get it.

10:37

No, you are definitely a papa. Like, you know that thing when you come home and you're like, oh, nothing else matters but seeing their face?

10:47

My cannonball of a daughter just, yeah, just glomping down the stairs.

10:51

Yeah, but I will say, I'm slowly starting to get back in the true crime, but like, there were things I just couldn't watch and now if I watch like a son or a child

11:02

in any bit of danger. Sure. They do that bit on, I feel like Spencer, it's a family guy bit, where like, Brian has like, somehow finds out he has a long lost son named Dylan. And they're just like, oh dude, watch, Brian's changed. Hey dude, think about Dylan being in danger,

11:19

like on a train, he's like, oh my god, oh my God, no, no, no, no, I can't even think about it, no, no, no, no. He's like, what if Dylan was in a fire? He's like, oh my God, no, no, no, no, I can't even, I can't even, stop, stop, stop.

11:26

Yeah.

11:27

That's so, that's literally what it is. Your thoughts are, I was telling Shane this, this is so crazy, but you have these weird, put Cole, my son, down, that he would somehow get up, open the door, and have a full man's body on him,

11:48

but his baby head.

11:50

Whoa!

11:51

I seriously had a thought that he'd open it and go, mom? And like a baby giraffe, like his legs were just full body, like he was six feet tall, but he had his little baby head.

12:01

Oh my God.

12:02

Yeah, that's a nightmare.

12:04

So yeah, I'm admitting this.

12:05

Right here. I think that's pretty cool.

12:06

I think that's like.

12:07

Do you? I think that's kind of epic.

12:08

I just, it's just how powerful your baby is like right off the start.

12:12

I think it's this fear of like they're gonna grow up really, really, really.

12:15

Really fast. and you're like, yeah, they're one month. It is wild, like, cause I have nieces and nephews and how, you know, I don't see them every day, I don't see them every week, but I see them every few months and it's just like, every few months, just like, and holy shit.

12:35

I know. What the hell happened? And it's gotta be really trippy to be with them every day and especially early on where it's like, oh, they're suddenly laughing now.

12:46

What the fuck is this?

12:47

Oh my god, I can't wait till we're there. We're not at laughing, but we're at silent big smiles. Have you ever seen someone smile so big but it's silent? Yeah, that's what I experience all the time.

13:00

It's just like.

13:03

Out of curiosity, what's gonna be the thing for you where you don't wanna push your life on your kids necessarily, but if we get to a milestone where Cole is just like, that thing, are you like, for me it's like when my nephew was apparently getting into Pokemon and was like, this is my favorite,

13:19

I drew it, and I'm just like.

13:20

And you're like.

13:21

Like, what's that for you, if not true crime?

13:23

Um. and you're like, what's that for you? If not true crime. Yeah, okay.

13:26

Hey kid, watch this staircase.

13:26

Okay, he's three, he's ready to get into Jeffrey Dahmer.

13:29

The Murdoch murders. Yeah.

13:31

He cut off one of his action figures face and wore it.

13:34

And I'm like, yeah, that's a good start.

13:36

Have you seen The Monster on Netflix? I think about this a lot actually because like I'm like what how do I want to like

13:53

It's so funny they're filming agree they're filming family feud in the other studio and we knew

14:00

I'm glad they're having a good time. Yeah. Well, we get to be here with Amanda and they don't that's the real truth Oh here guys, and I'm a mom and don't you wanna hear about everything? The physical stuff?

14:07

That's another thing that I'm like, I think I told Ian and Anthony and I definitely told Shane like full detail of my birth story. And then I was like, did you guys wanna hear that? And you guys were so sweet, like yeah.

14:20

Not bothered by it what an honor to have that shared in that way You know what? I mean? Like you're going through a lot like I don't I don't think there's any way to Anyone here who would be like, oh like, you know, we're all adults and like that's part of it's tough

14:33

You know if you don't like medical stuff like me

14:35

Well, I don't mind I don't mind hearing medical stuff wouldn't know it from that Beopardy yesterday yesterday and now everyone has the full timeline of what is filmed when. Yeah, no it was, hearing it was absolutely insane though.

14:49

Yeah.

14:49

And I've heard other people describe like labor and their birth story, but I feel like every time I've heard someone talk about it there's something new I learn.

14:57

Yeah.

14:58

Like, oh, I didn't know about that aspect of it.

15:00

Yeah.

15:00

And look, I respect it. I think it's amazing that you went through all that and can handle all that. It sounds awful. People, when people go like, oh, the miracle of childbirth, I'm like, I don't know, sounds awful.

15:12

Like, I don't know if it sounds like a miracle to me. It sounds like a sci-fi movie, but I'm glad you got through it, and bravo. Like the alien and predator? Yeah, that's what's happening. Truly, like, I have so much respect for people who go through it.

15:27

Me too.

15:27

Because, damn.

15:28

I'm not familiar with the details of your birth and I won't ask you for it on this podcast.

15:32

I'll tell you later.

15:34

I did think recently, I was in New Zealand and got to see, like, I actually got to see a couple kiwi birds. Got to see a couple people give birth. Got to see a couple people give birth. That's awesome. They just do it on the street there, it's great. Oh. No, like, healthcare system's so fine, it's whatever. But no, if a kiwi's this big, its egg is like this big. And I'm like, oh my God, why would nature do that?

15:54

And then I'm like, that's kind of like people.

15:57

Yeah, really. but your baby is huge. It's like, I remember in it thinking, this is the most effed up thing I've ever done in my life.

16:06

Yeah.

16:07

Like I wasn't like, oh my God, I'm connecting to a higher spirit. I was like, this is the most effed up thing I've ever seen in my life. And I gripped Garday's hand to the point of crushing bones.

16:17

Wow.

16:18

Wow.

16:19

But you know what?

16:20

Yeah. But when it was all said and done, I was like, I am the most incredible woman on this planet. Like I was like, I.

16:30

Hey, hey, you are brave.

16:32

I am incredible and every other woman is incredible. And the nurses are, there was this nurse that literally, Garday was like, you can call me Papa H, and she was like, okay, Daddy. She only called him Daddy, and she was like just the greatest person ever,

16:52

and she was so calm, and I was screaming, and she was just like, Daddy, mommy doesn't look so good right now, so Daddy needs to, like she was just.

17:02

I love that.

17:03

All the nurses were, I love them so much

17:06

I can't imagine the alternative where she's like you're acting really intense right now. She's like you're kind of You need to chill. No, imagine your nurse being overwhelmed. You'd be like, uh

17:14

We've never seen this before

17:16

Most of them just tap dance out like Michigan J frog

17:21

We haven't seen this anywhere call in the the main doctor. And you're just like, what? No, like.

17:27

I mean, kinda.

17:32

I mean, kinda, they do roll.

17:33

Chainsaws.

17:34

Really?

17:35

Yeah.

17:36

I'm sorry, yeah.

17:37

Whoa, like I said, I learn something new every time.

17:39

Oh, take a birth class. you're gonna go, clamps are for what? Like, suction, what?

17:46

Keeps your legs from falling clean off.

17:47

Yeah. I will say one thing, and I've already told Shane this, is that it felt like there was a rocket ship deep inside of me that was ready to delatch from my walls and burst out of my bottom half. And that my bottom half was gonna go to space,

18:03

and my top half was gonna stay on the bed.

18:05

So the epidural was damn good, huh?

18:08

Oh yeah, it came kinda late.

18:09

Okay, wow.

18:11

You know when you try to hold out?

18:12

Yeah, I know that, hey. Hey. I feel you.

18:15

But yeah, you know what?

18:16

He's here, he's super healthy, and that's literally all I could ask for, and he is the sweetest little boy ever. And my mom told me that like she doesn't see me in him at all, which is super sweet.

18:29

No, he looks like eight. Are you sure it's yours? Honestly, I don't know. Do you imagine if I was like, this isn't mine.

18:36

Yeah, turn to the nurse and you're like, how dare you? You were shouting out something's very sweet about nurses and then I made a chainsaw joke. So I just wanna. No, no, nurses literally. It's shocking to think like they are just doing that all day, every day.

18:49

And I will say, I would like to learn from them because they have a really good job of being kind, empathetic slash like, I'm holding a firm boundary here. We need to get you up. Like, no. Like, I really, really appreciated them.

19:05

I will say birth was the scariest thing in my mind ever. Like skydiving, fine, scary. Birth was like, this is the scariest thing. Like I don't even know if I want a child. Luckily I was able to have a kid and then the birth happened and now I'm like,

19:21

oh, I did that. I can go back to Smosh Math. I can do TNTL. Yeah, if you can did that. I can go back to Smosh Math. I can do TNTL.

19:26

Yeah, if you can do that, I think you can, I think this is pretty easy in comparison. I can do Try Not to Laugh Blind Pairs.

19:32

We did Blind Pairs yesterday and I was like, can I do this? And Shane's like, yeah.

19:36

Yeah, but wait till you play This Is Not a Hat. I've heard a lot of hubbub about that and I don't. I watched that episode, that's what that game is. It's a tough game.

19:46

I wanna play, cause I can do anything.

19:49

It's pretty hard, I don't know.

19:51

I bet I can give birth to that hat.

19:53

Anyways. You look great.

19:55

Thank you.

19:56

You really do.

19:57

I feel amazing. Being a mom is like a very wonderful spiritual experience. It's like, oh my God, that was hard. And then it's like, oh, I get it. Do you know what I mean?

20:08

How long after you brought the baby home did you have time to do anything? Or when did you finally have time to watch a TV show? Or read an article?

20:22

TV show was weeks. I read consistently. I read. TV show was weeks, I read consistently. I read up until he was born and I read literally day one. Because you are, I was pumping like nonstop every, I was pumping nine times a day. So that was every two hours.

20:39

Me at the gym.

20:41

Oh gross.

20:42

Let's go.

20:43

God, boys. Yeah, pumping weights is exactly the same as pumping milk from your body that you feed your son to grow.

20:51

You're so brave, Jane.

20:53

Thanks, dude.

20:54

But yeah, I kept up reading, which is crazy.

20:57

What were you reading?

20:59

Romantic books.

21:00

Nice.

21:01

Wow.

21:02

Actually, I was reading this series called Blood and Steel, which sounds really wrong to read as a new mom, but it was epic. It was like this woman like training and it made me feel strong and there's a hot guy in it too,

21:14

which was like really fun.

21:16

But I'd be shocked if there wasn't.

21:18

Oh, I wouldn't read it.

21:19

Yeah.

21:20

In a world where everyone's not attracted to you,

21:26

Yeah.

21:26

But I would say a show. First of all, H and I barely saw each other. It was like ships in the night.

21:33

Wow.

21:34

So a show on my own probably took like, we did re-watch Portlandia because I really needed a lot.

21:41

Yeah.

21:41

Low touch, laughter.

21:43

It was so good. I think that was like three weeks.

21:46

Okay.

21:46

But like us watching a movie,

21:50

rare.

21:51

I don't even know if we've done it yet.

21:53

Wow.

21:54

Yeah. Like think about a long period of time. Like Frankenstein just came out. And I'm like, oh I wanna watch it. Two and a half hours.

22:01

I know. Two and a half hours. I'm still trying to watch Frankenstein. I'm like, oh, I got time. Oh, wait, no, it's 10.30. I probably shouldn't start it now. Courtney and I watched it. I loved it. But I also love the look of Guillermo del Toro's just anything.

22:15

And hey, I'll shout him out. Spencer's a hater. Yeah, he hates it. so I don't feel bad, but he's also a fan of the book. No, let's burn him right here. Let's, you know, yeah, let's beat the shit out of him. Mary Shelley would have hated Spencer. No, I think it's good that Spencer hated it because I'd heard a lot of good stuff.

22:32

Spencer hated it, someone else here was like, nah, so I'm like, great, now my expectations are back to normal. Maybe I'll watch it over the course of a month. I think you'll like it, it's a gorgeous movie. But yeah, pause it, watch it. Yeah. But anyways.

22:48

Yeah, I would say that.

22:55

That's, dude.

22:55

As a first baby watch show.

22:57

H has tried, it is constant. He'll literally go, why are we even searching for a show when there's one show you should be watching?

23:05

I'm like.

23:06

It is kind of fair.

23:07

It is, okay. I'm very glad I didn't start it when I was pregnant because it is a disgusting, really hard show. But I started it. I said yes, finally. And it is so good.

23:19

And so messed up. It is so effed up. I don't know what was more effed up, my birth or like Breaking Bad.

23:27

How far are you?

23:28

I've heard that before.

23:29

Season two, episode 12.

23:31

Wow.

23:32

Okay, yeah.

23:34

It's a messed up show.

23:35

It's a really messed up show, but I'm super into it. Also, 2000's style is bad. So bad. Like she's making her baby room and it's like, it's very bad. So I'm struggling with that aspect, but.

23:51

Was it just a matter of like not being in the mood or like are you, I'm kind of this way where people are like, you have to watch this, you need to see it. And the more people like laid on thick,

23:59

the more I'm like, I kind of don't really want to now, there's like a lot of pressure. I am 100% like that, Damien. And I told my husband multiple times, I was like, so the more you push, the more I don't wanna watch it. And he's like, okay, well.

24:11

You can lead a horse to water, but it doesn't want that water.

24:14

Yeah, it doesn't want that water until it does, and it's breaking bad. And I'm watching it. and how much, you were watching Smosh Mouth while you were gone. I was. I was watching Smosh Mouth, I did see that Angela reveal that I do read all the call sheets.

That was hilarious, a hilarious reveal.

24:31

It was like a private conversation that her and I had.

24:34

But no, it's totally.

24:35

You got a big day tomorrow.

24:36

Yeah, I don't know what it is. I get the call sheets and I'm interested. I wanna know what everyone's shooting. I want to know how long their days are. I want to know what's for lunch. I want to know what the song of the day is. Thank you, Alexina. I want to know, so maybe I could listen to it, you know,

24:54

at some point.

24:55

It's like you're here.

24:56

I want to know what's going on when I wasn't there. It was really fun. And then I watched a lot of the Smosh mounts. I watched the Care Package. I will say, I didn't watch that one episode that's about Pokemon.

25:10

Because you hate Tommy.

25:11

Yeah.

25:12

Actually, yes. And I need to tell him that.

25:14

Right.

25:15

Yeah, I do. Now to be fair, because we got so in the nitty gritty with things, there wasn't as much opportunity for like, you know, if we have like a reality show episode It'll be like alright so for those at home We don't know there was this big thing that happened and dotted out of that We give context and the Pokemon one It was just like it probably sounded like a different language that we were just like oh yeah

25:31

I like guard of war and guard of wars can fly and

25:34

It's hard to explain. It's hard to like yeah explain from The basics the foundation of what Pokemon is. I guess it's a game. I can't wait until Cole just somehow falls into something nerdy that the rest of us love that you're gonna be like, okay, I guess I have to fully understand Pokemon now.

25:57

I actually, watching Breaking Bad was the first step of the new Amanda.

26:02

Wow, that's not good.

26:07

Next you're gonna be like, now I'm getting into cooking.

26:09

Like what?

26:10

What?

26:11

I'm changing, I think I need to start getting into some more nerdy culture, which I've always been down for. I think I need to get a Russian tutor.

26:21

You're gonna start learning Russian. Yeah, I don't even know what that means. You're gonna start learning Russian. So you can finally understand your husband.

26:25

Da da da da da da da da.

26:27

So I can do way better impressions of my husband.

26:29

Funny.

26:30

Also his mom comes over and she only speaks Russian, which is what we want. I would love Cole to speak Russian and speak English.

26:37

Can I make a recommendation?

26:38

Yes, please.

26:39

Pimsleur. Pimsleur is what I use for language learning. Pimsleur. P-I-M-S-L-E-U-R. It's language learning that basically has you like repeat a phrase, but it'll have you like repeat individual parts of it. So it'll be like, you know,

26:54

da-da-da-da-da-da, how are you? Good morning. And then it'll like say that again. And then maybe a couple lessons later, they'll be like, how do you say, how are you, good morning? And you go, da da da da da. They're like, you just learned the word for good evening. How would you say, hello, good evening? And then you sort of put it together and you go, oh, now I know why this sentence structure

27:13

is the way it is, and now if I learn vocabulary, I can just plop it in. So for the little bit of Japanese. the Japanese that I learned for our trip and got by, that was all Pimsleur. I've just started Mandarin Pimsleur, but I'm deciding between that, or maybe I divert to Korean.

27:32

I'm not sure between Mandarin or Korean. But anyway, just point is, it's a lot more accessible to just listen to and go through your day and repeat it, like it's muscle memory and practice.

27:43

So that's amazing.

27:44

And you've got such a great situation where once you learn enough, then it's just like you have people who speak it. So you get to immerse yourself in it more. And if you just kind of draw that line of like, let's stick to that as much as possible.

27:59

Your grandmother and aides just start learning Tagalog so that they can still talk about you in the room. No, I know, I'm like, oh, they're not gonna be able

28:05

to talk about me.

28:06

Sorry, we're speaking Swedish now for some reason.

28:09

But yeah, Helena, Garde's mom is so funny. I was like, oh, I wanna get a Russian tutor. She's like, don't do Russian tutor. Like, well, I have a friend in Belarus. She'll teach you at four in the morning. That's the time. And I'm like, I just want to go through a service and pay it. Like I don't, you know, she's very much like my mom.

28:30

Like, oh, I have a guy. And I know that's fun and cool, but I just wanna, you know.

28:35

I get it. She wants to help, but also like, yeah, I know the feeling of needing to now make yourself way less, sorry, I'm just stumbling through the words. The feeling of having to super inconvenience yourself in order to let someone else feel like they've helped.

28:49

Yeah, exactly, exactly.

28:51

But I mean, teaching a language is that such a skill in itself. You wanna make sure you got someone to trust. But then once you know enough, then yeah, you talk to the people you know.

29:01

I just think it's gonna be so wild to watch my son grow up and like, how is he gonna like code switch and like do these like English and Russian like.

29:09

It'll be super cool.

29:10

Is he gonna love video games? Like to your earlier question about like, am I gonna push something.

29:15

99% chance he's gonna like video games.

29:16

Yeah, am I gonna push something that I'm really into or like or I see him, like I'm, Agent R is so excited to like see his personality and kind of harness that. Although I'm battling this way I grew up because the way I grew up, my mom was like, so you're gonna do every sport. Oh wow.

29:34

And I don't wanna do that, but I'm also like, does he need a little push? I'm not quite there yet. It's just simmering thoughts.

29:41

I mean, I feel like you give him the, like the best thing you can do is, I'm saying this as someone who has no kids, but you give him the opportunities to try things and then as his own person, he'll find his own path and you build that excitement and that support, but.

29:59

Yeah, that's what I want.

30:00

We all experience being forced to do things and how that made us want to rebel against that.

30:04

I don't want to do that. I want to like, I basically want to like do trial and error things. Like I want to read adventure books and see if he's like into that. I want to like maybe go and play a game

30:17

Yeah.

30:18

Yeah.

30:18

I feel like that's, you know, again, not apparent, but I was given the opportunity as a kid to be like, okay, we're gonna start Boy Scouts and we're gonna start karate. And then as I did a couple months of both, it was just like, okay, we kind of maybe only have time for one, which one would you prefer? And I was like, karate.

30:34

And they were like, great. And then started doing theater at grade three or whatever. And eventually it became a conflict of like, well, your black belt test is this day, but the actual show for the play is on this day. Which one can we do? And I was like, okay, I guess I did the, I mean, I did the show, I was already cast in it,

30:51

but it was like, turns out you can wait a while and this is what it's like to put something on the back burner. Karate, you can come back to. Teach a kid. This episode of Smosh Mouth is brought to you by Aura Frames. Aura Frames keeps families connected even when they are miles apart. So Amanda, when you were gone, my Aura Frame,

31:19

That's so sweet. It's, that's so kind.

31:23

31:26

Oh. It's so great because you can connect the frame to wifi and if you have the app, you can then upload photos at any time from anywhere.

31:34

Wait, so what if I wanted to share like my photos with you? You'd be so far away.

31:38

But if you just connect one to my mom and I'm able to upload photos anytime. And moms are so excited about it.

31:50

Okay, wait a second. I actually think I need to get my mom an Aura Frame because all she does is text me photo so I can send her photos of my son and it has unlimited storage.

32:01

Yeah.

32:01

So I can just send hundreds of photos to my mom at any time.

Let's go.

32:39

Don't.

32:41

Don't!

32:42

Oh, I missed.

32:43

Missed.

32:43

I feel like knowing you, there's no way Cole is not gonna have an incredible life and future. Like, you're just very, you're very supportive. You're a very empathetic person. Thank you.

32:53

There's no way you're gonna have an issue.

32:56

Thank you. I agree. And look, if he's bilingual and knows Russian, and H gets him into Dota 2 or those online games, he's gonna be able to bust that out. People are gonna think they're gonna be able to speak Russian and get around him,

33:10

and he's gonna suddenly know it.

33:13

I'm like half like, ugh, getting him into video games.

33:17

I'm like, ugh.

33:18

It's just gonna happen.

33:19

It's gonna happen.

33:20

Everybody, it's not even like a boy thing. It's every kid nowadays plays so much video games.

33:27

Which is, you know, has nothing to do with video games, but this is why I said six, seven. You guys didn't actually ask why I said six, seven. Do you guys wanna know?

33:35

Yeah, I'd love to. It's okay, can I say, you came back to the office and I was talking to you and you were saying

33:41

that your niece and nephew were visiting. Genevieve and Beckett, I'm shouting you out right now because they were like, can you shout me out somewhere? And I said, yes I can, love you. Actually it's Bucket, Beckett has a nickname, it's Bucket.

33:55

Teacher calls him Bucket by accident.

33:57

Oh, okay. But you were talking about them hanging out and then I go, cause I just recently saw my nieces and nephew for like a weekend for a couple days and I was like, were they saying six, seven? And you.

34:11

I lost my mind. It's like he said the secret code.

34:15

I was like, you know six, seven?

34:17

Yeah, I had never heard it obviously until I was hanging out with my nieces and nephew who are gen alpha, they're like around 10. And I think in the span of two days, they said it upwards of 10,000 times. I could not believe how many times they were saying it.

34:36

Now unfortunately we were playing flip seven, which was, Courtney and I were so excited to be like we're gonna play Flip 7 with the family, everyone's gonna be so excited. And, oh man, I was drawing those cards and I'm like, I just hope I'm out.

34:52

I don't wanna, I don't wanna, if I had a, if I had a seven, if I had a seven, I'm like, please draw another seven. Like, just get me outta here. It was crazy. Yeah. I heard it for the first time at a con. I was like, these two, I don't know,

35:08

probably Gen Alpha or youngest possible Gen Z kids came up and they were looking at what I was doing and they were like, oh, you were in Fortnite? I was like, yeah. They were like, who'd you play? I'm like, oh, I don't know, at this point, like, six, seven? And they both were just like, six, seven?

35:25

So just like six, seven, six, seven? And I thought they were just sort of like making fun of, you know, I thought they were just doing teenage things and being like, ha ha, he said anything and we're gonna like parrot it back to him.

35:35

So that's, yeah, that's.

35:37

You walked right into that. I mean, they said it nonstop and my sister, she was like, I think it just means like whatever. And she's like, I don't know what it means. She's like, they cannot stop saying it. And I was like, okay, but now I can't stop saying it.

35:57

And that's gonna help us to have them not say it anymore. Because we're gonna start saying it on camera and we're all over 30 and they're gonna be like, whoa, okay, we're going to start saying it on camera and we're all over 30 and they're going to be like, whoa, okay, we're good. We need Spencer on the case. Spencer needs to start saying it a bunch

36:09

and then we'll get it.

36:10

Oh wait, there's another one though that I wanted to ask. Alexina's in the room, she says she knows it. They asked me if I was preppy or clean.

36:18

And I'd never heard this.

36:19

Have you heard it? I don't know this one, no. Is this so millennial lame that I'm doing this right now?

36:25

Look, every video has a comment that's like, this is so millennial, and it's like, yeah, man.

36:32

You came here.

36:33

I'm a little, and a mom, okay, just get it.

36:37

I don't care.

36:37

Alexina, what is preppy and clean?

36:39

Okay, so I feel like you're overthinking it. Clean is literally just like a clean girl aesthetic, very minimalistic. Oh, clean girl aesthetic. Yeah, and then preppy is just like a preppy girl aesthetic, like you know, pleated skirt, like prepping sorority.

36:52

That's literally it, like there is no big.

36:54

It's just two different aesthetics.

36:54

So clean is like a clean aesthetic, clean girl.

36:59

Preppy is literally preppy, like okay, pleated skirt. Shout out to this generation for making that straightforward because when I was a youngster, it would be like, would you say you're bumpy or not bumpy? And I'd be like, I don't know. And they'd be like, well think about like, I don't know, your spine.

37:14

I'd be like, I guess I'm bumpy. And they're like, oh, cool. I do have to give it credit. Like all these kids are saying six, seven. I was like, when we were kids, we were yelling penis. Or we were yelling inappropriate shit.

37:36

So I'm like, all right.

37:37

And who could yell penis louder?

37:38

One.

37:39

I heard that in New Zealand though.

37:40

Like literally I was walking along and there was a car window down It was like two younger fellas and be like penis. Oh, it's no I wasn't being like Don't you like no always it'll always stick around. Yeah, you know that one's that one's fun universal six six seven Let's just know I was fine with it. I'm like, hey any meme? I'm like, this is the basis of it, right? We're saying the thing and it's stupid, it means nothing. It was how many times they said it. But I think that's the 10 years old aspect, not the meme of it aspect.

38:11

But one of my cousins is a teacher and she was saying at their school, they have to call grades in reverse right now.

38:19

Oh yeah, you said that.

38:30

How do teachers deal? That's what I wanna know. Is how do teachers go, what's this new thing that you're obsessed with?

38:36

I mean, it's worth it for the high pay. Shout out teachers.

38:41

You do an insanely hard job.

38:44

Shout out teachers and You did an insanely hard job. Shout out teachers and nurses.

38:45

My God.

38:46

Rolling, just Scrooge McDuck and right into the gold coins. Anyways, I want to move on.

38:54

Yeah, let's move on. Great reference to that show because I actually know

38:57

that show.

38:58

Thank you.

38:59

Oh yeah, that one's timeless. And hey, they've got a DuckTales video game

39:03

and that's for your youngster.

39:05

Maybe I'll, oh, he'll play it, yeah.

39:08

I like that.

39:09

Hey, you're gonna be cool. You're gonna be able to talk about Resident Evil and FNAF and all those things.

39:13

Listen, listen, I am pretty cool.

39:16

Yeah, dude.

39:17

My niece and nephew were like, my nephew was like, she, have you played Fortnite? He's six. And I was like, yeah, once. And it was pretty epic.

39:28

I'm pretty, I'm pretty cool.

39:29

It's actually a legitimate legitimate.

39:30

In their eyes, they're like, oh my God, you're a celebrity. And I was like, that's crazy, tell me more. I am pretty cool.

39:38

I already feel like you're fine. of video games, because we talked about this. We talked about this on, I think, the Pokemon episode that you didn't watch.

39:45

Yeah, right.

39:45

Where we talked about what's so cool about you and Angela in all the games videos

39:50

that you guys do. Oh, I'll watch it.

39:51

I'll rewatch it.

39:52

Is how, it's like, yeah, you guys don't play video games, but you show such an interest in it, and you're I appreciate it. And that's kind of, I think, the most important thing. And I think a lot of kids don't get that from their parents growing up.

40:11

Where it's kind of scoffed at. It goes, oh, this show that you're into, or oh, your games. As opposed to going, wow, this is amazing what you're doing and what you're interested in. I think that's all it takes. You don't need to play it. In fact, I feel like a lot of kids don't want their parents to do the same things.

40:28

They kind of want their own,

40:30

they want their own thing and their own space, but to appreciate it. Yeah, some of the most exciting moments of my youth were like, you're playing a game that you love and a parent walks in the room and just watches for a couple minutes and you're like, this is pretty cool.

40:45

Like I bet they, I bet they all, I bet they get it now. Like, and that's the feeling I get when like either you or Angela, like I love those videos, but I feel so deeply jealous of Spencer when it's just like, oh yeah, I'll just play Resident Evil for them. And I'm like, you lucky bastards.

41:00

Why don't we, remember when you and I played um... Baldur's Gate. Yeah, that was super fun.

41:05

There was a game recently that people were like, you need to play this with Amanda. I think it was one that I streamed, I'm not sure.

41:11

But anyway.

41:11

I would love to play a game with you. I think that would be so fun.

41:14

That would be amazing. We don't even have to film it. You just can hang out if you feel like it. If he's okay around cats, I got two of them. I don't know. That's the other thing.

I don't know yet.

41:27

You can borrow one if you need it.

41:29

Yeah.

41:30

Yeah, just borrow a cat.

41:32

Yeah, I'll borrow a cat.

41:33

You tried to move on like three times. I know, it's okay.

41:35

Yeah, yeah.

41:36

Oh, I just wanted to get away from six, seven. I'm fine with move away from. Okay, Shane, it's time for Shane. But I do want to shout out Damien and Angela. You guys did such an incredible job. It was really kind of, I think one of the hardest decisions we had to make this year was when you were going, we were like, who's going to co-host?

42:01

And we truly looked at the entire cast. And I was like, it could be anybody. Like, this cast is so amazing. But we went with Angela, and then, you know, I thought it was such a fun opportunity to do a show with you again.

42:13

It's been so long, and it was such a blast. It was really special. And I like, thank you for, you know, having me do this and thank you for like, you know, being okay with somebody popping in for a bit as opposed to just like pause the show. And I don't know, like it's so cool because I love this place and I know I'm often

42:32

like very busy doing other things and we all have our own lives, but like it just felt cool being here more and like, you know, being a little more like finger on the pulse of like,

42:41

okay, now we're checking in for this week. For sure. I loved, I watched it and I felt really comfortable and I loved watching Angela be a host with you because I thought your chemistry was so good. And then of course, it's just like, you guys have this unending chemistry. It's so good.

42:58

You have so many years of friendship. I just thought it was such a great, great pairing and I really, you guys killed it. And you warmed my seat for me.

43:07

Yes.

43:07

Thanks.

43:08

No problem. I'm naturally very warm all the time.

43:10

I almost never wear hoodies, so it's for you.

43:14

Actually cooking. I don't have a shirt under this, and I was like, okay, maybe it gonna be cool enough if I just wear the hoodie. You're wearing a hoodie and no shirt underneath? No, that's the only way it'll ever be cool enough.

43:26

What a gamble!

43:27

Yeah.

43:28

What a gamble, what if you get hot?

43:30

That is a, that is bold.

43:32

Look at how cute, if you're only listening, he's wearing like the cutest little candy.

43:37

It's white rabbit candy.

43:39

An artist made like this based off a White Rabbit, and if you like Chinese candy at all, it's real good. It's like if a Tootsie Roll was like sweet cream flavored.

43:47

Ooh, that sounds amazing.

43:49

It's wrapped in rice paper,

43:50

so you can just have the paper straight on. Oh, okay. Selena's nodding as well.

43:54

I'd love some.

43:56

Damn.

43:57

This is Selena's childhood.

43:58

The first time I had it, I was in elementary school and I had a friend who's, who is, you know, Chinese American, her parents were Chinese immigrants, and she's like, oh, I brought this candy, and it was like the course of my life changed forever. I was like, where can I find this? And then I was like,

44:14

like transporting through the universe?

44:15

Like, oh!

44:15

I remember being like eight years old and my parents were like wanting to shop at like Cost Plus World Market or whatever. And I was just like, oh my God, there's a international candy section, where? And I found White Rabbit, and I was like,

44:26

mom and dad, can I get this?

44:27

It's always heartbreaking when you travel anywhere and you realize snacks are just better everywhere else.

44:32

Yeah.

44:33

It's like, God damn.

44:34

They really are.

44:34

Everybody's got snacks on lock.

44:36

They really are.

44:37

Brought back a lot of Whitaker's chocolate Ooh, yeah, chocolate. God, I gotta go to New Zealand and have someone scream penis out the window at me.

44:46

Yeah, I know a guy. It's one of those places where like, I hate it when people are like, you should just travel, everyone should just travel. It's just like, mother fucker, how? It's expensive, it takes time.

44:55

It's hard. I'm not gonna just be like, just travel. But what I'll say is that it's on bucket list and of the places where someone's like, oh, you gotta go here, you gotta go here, you gotta go here. It's one of the most live up to expectations

45:07

kind of places I've ever seen.

45:08

Lord of the Rings.

45:09

Cool. Totally Lord of the Rings, just beautiful location. The people care about the environment so much. I saw like no litter, like birds on the street weren't running away from people, which means they're not gonna screw with the birds and be like, ha ha ha. It's just like, oh, people leave things to be in peace.

45:27

That's really cool.

45:28

I got real close to- And the birds talk? They do. Well, there was one of those mimicry birds that I, there's an Instagram post where if you see me looking in a window, the most in autistic bliss

45:39

you've ever seen me, it was one of those birds that just does noises that it's heard. Love that.

45:46

Super cool. Speaking of Instagram, I was off Instagram the entire time.

45:51

I thought you were mad at me and wasn't liking my posts.

45:53

I'm kidding. No, I didn't see it.

45:55

You went extra offline.

45:56

I was the most offline I've ever been, and let me tell you, it was amazing. I genuinely didn't miss it. I really, I missed, but the thing is I caught up with my people through text, but I didn't miss it simply because being able to be super present with my son was the most important thing. Also, the only time you have to be on your phone is literally five minutes out of the day.

46:25

And what are you gonna do? Look on Instagram? No, you're gonna go take a shower and wash your hair.

46:30

That's great.

46:31

So I just, I loved not being online.

46:34

I loved it.

46:36

We're gonna take advantage of that because next week's episode is gonna be Trevor and I catching you up on all the viral internet YouTube stuff.

46:45

I'm excited to hear because I still listen to some daily podcasts.

46:50

Okay.

46:50

Yeah. Got some new Harambe updates. Yeah, he's back.

46:53

Back.

46:54

I'm just kidding.

46:55

Sorry.

46:56

Don't do.

46:56

Sorry, he's not back.

46:58

Why would you say that, Shane?

47:00

That was awful.

47:01

No. How dare you? He's not back. He's not back. He's right there.

47:05

He never left. He never left, that's right.

47:07

He's in here.

47:08

He's in our hearts.

47:09

Speaking of never leaving, can I run to the right and grab a bottle of water real fast?

47:12

Yeah.

47:13

Like a desert.

47:14

No.

47:14

Thank you.

47:15

Do you need anything, Mama?

47:16

Papa?

47:17

Papa? Do people just call, am I gonna be mama now? If you want. This episode of Smosh Mouth is brought to you by Tavala. Amanda, do you like cooking?

47:28

Okay, I love cooking, but I actually have zero time because I have a newborn and I miss it. I genuinely miss cooking.

47:36

Yeah, that makes a lot of sense. But if you don't have much time on your hands, sounds like you could use Tavala. Tavala is a smart meal delivery service, fresh meals, and a smart oven that does the cooking for you. I recently had the sesame garlic soy salmon and green beans

47:52

with edamame, kale, quinoa, and crispy onion. It was fantastic.

47:58

Yeah. That sounds so gourmet and delicious. So where was my invite? Why didn't you invite me over?

48:04

Fork.

48:05

You just scan the meal's QR code, pop it in the oven, and it cooks everything perfectly. Steams, bakes, broils automatically. It's got, it can do everything, right? And if you're someone who's low on time, which even I find myself low on time sometimes,

48:20

it's very useful. They sent us a couple ovens. They work fantastic. Oh yeah, Angela showed me the oven.

48:26

It looks so easy to use. I would love one of those. So if you could just...

48:30

Okay, well, I'll think about it. It's a pretty nice oven. For a limited time, because you are a Smosh Mouth listener, during Tavala's Black Friday sale, you can get a free Tavala.com slash Smoshmouth and use my code Smoshmouth. That's a free Tavala smart oven when you head to Tavala.com

48:51

slash Smoshmouth and use promo code Smoshmouth. One last time, that's T-O-V-A-L-A dot com and make sure you use my promo code Smoshmouth for a free Tavala smart oven. Remember, with Tavala, dinner is taken care of.

49:08

You slayed that.

49:10

Yeah, back to the show. Amanda, did you have a favorite moment from watching Smoshmouth while you were gone? Like maybe a favorite, like was there just moments that stood out to you?

49:22

Well, really, like the whole call sheet back and forth made me laugh a lot. Like, that whole episode made me laugh a lot. It felt like Spencer and Andrew were like, no, I know her better. No, no, no, I was texting her more.

49:34

No, no, I was texting her more.

49:35

In competition.

49:36

I don't know, I'm really jealous that Vic was here and I wasn't here doing the monologues. Also, I love nothing more than to play casting directors.

49:45

Yeah, it's the funniest shit ever.

49:47

It's one of my favorite things, and the fact that you were on your phone the whole time was triggering and relatable.

49:52

Just a real thing that's happened to all of us.

49:55

You wanna order for lunch? Yeah, what did you say you wanted to order for lunch when you did that? If you guys haven't seen that episode, it's so, so, so good. Vic was on fire. And then the spooky. I miss the, have we only done creepypastas with you?

50:09

No, because we finally, we've talked about it where,

50:13

Oh, yeah.

50:13

Yeah, where, you know, we have our no sleep episode that never aired. It never aired with you. Because I never got approval on that story, which I'm so sad about, but I want to respect that. So we did that, but we just did that for ourselves. And it was a great time. But yeah, with Courtney, we didn't actually read

50:31

many creepypastas. I had a hard time finding them and sourcing ones that are short enough to read on the podcast, so we kind of just talked a little bit more. I did introduce them to SCPs, which is a whole different thing. Which I can bring up again at some point for you.

50:47

It's a cool website where it's a government that tracks all these entities around the world. And so there's a page for every single type of entity.

50:57

Did I not tell you about what my dad thinks is out there via the government, didn't I tell you?

51:02

I feel like your dad, your dad maybe believes in SCPs for real.

51:06

Oh, 100%. 100%.

51:09

Wait, what did he say?

51:12

I don't know why I texted Shane this month, one into my maternity leave. My dad told me on the phone, asking about Cole, how did everything go? And then he was like, yeah, so we were talking about the SkarsgΓ₯rds, SkarsgΓ₯rds. He was like, oh yeah, you know, so those Swedish guys, so everyone who's Swedish, so most people who are Swedish, there's beings,

51:35

there's beings and they wear Swedish people and they're entities and they're out in the ocean and they're covered by mist. And so you can't see them but the government knows they're there and so the he's like so the Nordic the Nordic people the Nordic folks I was Nordic folks I was actually entities okay and so those Skysky guys you know not human'm like, dad, the guy who plays it,

52:05

he's like, you know, you never know. The Nordic people.

52:09

He's got a point.

52:10

Are entities.

52:11

And I was like, where did you hear that? He goes, everybody knows this, Amanda.

52:15

Everybody knows the SkarsgΓ₯rds. I mean, your dad thinks Bill SkarsgΓ₯rd actually is Pennywise No, he's doing that damn good cover

52:26

Pennywise my dad loves aliens. It's it's a known thing in my family and so all the great all swedish people are aliens He calls them. Yeah yells you guys know. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah Yeah, yeah, she's a certain entity Come on, you don't know what yeah, yeah

52:42

Yes, I don't amazing super weird stuff. So is amazing. Super weird stuff, so jaelsa.

52:46

I feel like we grazed past entities. When you said there's entities in the ocean, is it like merfolk? Because I know the little mermaid is like in Denmark. I love merfolk. Is like the statues in Denmark.

52:57

I love merfolk.

52:58

No, I think it's like jaelsa, Yeah, yeah, and like aliens and beings. It's more that.

53:05

Interesting, and they're Swedish.

53:08

Yeah, Nordic.

53:08

So the SkarsgΓ₯rds, he believes the SkarsgΓ₯rds are not human.

53:11

He said it's possible. Like he doesn't have evidence.

53:14

I mean look at them, they're gorgeous.

53:16

Yeah, exactly.

53:16

Give me a break.

53:17

They're all working.

53:18

Come on.

53:19

Alex Sanger's. The whole family of working actors. Cars card? Come on, they're all so good. Sounds good.

53:25

Stop it. So anyways, that's my bit on entities that I, Okay. I think I texted you.

53:30

Yeah, I think you did.

53:31

And I apologize for any texts that probably were wild

53:34

in those times.

53:35

No, I appreciated all of them. In fact, I started texting you because I started drinking wine over the break. And I truly, I think Courtney and I got into it truly because I was just like, oh, I miss Amanda and this is like something that you love. And it gave me an excuse to text you to be like,

53:52

oh, I'm trying this type of wine.

53:56

I do feel, I really have to hold back when you text me.

53:59

The first time I texted you, you did write a book back about wine. I could have stayed up until 1 a.m.

54:07

text you about wine, and then finally, like you texted me last night, like I'm having a glass of Chianti, and I went off, and then finally I had to be like, okay, enjoy your glass, Amanda, stop.

54:17

I will always appreciate people talking about things they love. Yeah. Like I can listen to it forever even if I know nothing about it, it's my favorite thing. I just love that you, do you drink wine?

54:26

I don't.

54:27

That's okay. I don't drink at all. I stopped right after, like right after shutdown was like starting to get back open again because I like, I don't know, I drank a fair amount during that time

54:39

just as like a thing to do with like an ex-girlfriend and it was like I looked in the mirror as we were winding down and I was just like, oh, I think I've gained a lot of weight just from this. I think I'm done now. And I just never went back.

54:54

I get that. I totally get that.

54:57

Maybe one day I'll have wine again or a beer with a meal, but yeah, it packs on too fast for me.

55:03

It does, but like, wine is such, I mean, you know how much I love wine. And the fact that you're getting into it just literally makes me so giddy. Like, all I wanna do is buy my favorite wines and just like give them to you so you can try them.

55:19

And the fun part of it is like, I am so fine if I give you a wine or I'm like, oh, try this. And you're like, yeah, no. I love that. And you gave me an amazing wine. Yeah.

55:31

And I haven't opened it yet.

55:32

We found an old ass wine.

55:34

From 1984.

55:36

Whoa.

55:37

86, yeah.

55:39

Yeah, I knew as I was getting into it that I wanted to give you a gift of like an old bottle of wine. I thought it'd be really fun. And hey, maybe it's gonna be garbage. And I think that'd be hilarious.

55:50

That's what you texted me last night.

55:51

I think that'd be really funny.

55:52

Because the cork is probably maybe a little bit.

55:56

You gotta use like a special tool to get it out because it might crumble. but it's a Bordeaux or Cotes de Rhone. I think it's a Cotes de Rhone. I'm so excited. And if it is bad, I'll let you know and we'll cook with it. Use it as vinegar, who cares? Yeah. No, going back to just these past few weeks or a couple months, there was just some insane moments.

56:18

Hosting with Angela was wild because every episode Angela would say something absolutely insane. Sure. every episode Angela would say something absolutely insane. She would say something before she thought about it and then we'd all have a moment where we're like, what was just said?

56:30

And then I feel like in a similar way, Damien, when you hosted every episode, you said a joke that just blew my mind. And the best was any time, multiple times, Jonathan would be trying to unwrap candies and he's not here.

56:47

No, did he get booted out of his room?

56:49

Mr. Chips is not here. No, it isn't.

56:51

This is Jonathan. Alexina was assigned. Jonathan's over on the other set for Family Feud.

56:57

Because you guys kicked him out.

56:59

No.

57:00

He lost his beard. We had no problem. I thought it was hilarious. Here's the thing, I'm like really sensitive to sound and it like distracts me a lot, but I've learned that like, hey, not everybody's wired that way,

57:09

so it's just not a big deal. I've learned to usually move past it. It was when Shane and I think Angela also, yeah, were like both sort of starting to look over.

57:20

Oh my God, no!

57:22

Incredible.

57:23

You know what's crazy? That's quieter than what Jonathan was doing.

57:30

Are these Werthers?

57:31

Those are Werthers.

57:32

How old are you guys?

57:34

I'm young.

57:35

I'm sorry to the Werthers original brand, who I compared that sound to, which is clearly not as bad.

57:39

Good on you Werthers.

57:40

Wait, I'm listening to Damien talk and you started doing it and then it was like, I felt like I was in the, I was like, ding, ding, everyone in this room has withers.

57:49

This is incredible.

57:51

That was so overwhelming in a great way.

57:54

Yeah.

57:55

I feel very seen.

57:56

I'm actually so excited to eat this. I just don't want to do it while I have a microphone. You should do it and just like really like clack it around while you're really clackin around

58:11

Poor Jonathan though. I looked over and I see him on the other side of the room just kind of like yeah, it was hilarious

58:17

So Jonathan by the way is the most like fun-loving like the life of the party sweetest person I would not just like if it wasn't an okay vibe. I would not have done that but also there was like a couple more times where that happened, and then his phone went off, and I'm like, are we f***ing joking?

58:29

Okay, so he got booted out of this room.

58:31

It was so unfortunate, I felt so bad for him, because Jonathan has to be the one before we start filming to be like, all right, are our phones silent, everything set up? And then he kept happening to him. It was frankly hilarious, but it reminds me of whenever Oli or Zion

58:48

is writing on the mark. And it just, you hear the squeaks of the marker. It's just.

58:55

Remember we do, we're doing ad reads and I don't know what occurs with ad reads. It's like me and Shane are just giggle fest. It's like literally like, okay, mom and dad are gone. Let's do this. And literally it's either, it's usually Ollie.

He's writing and it's just the marker.

59:12

It's like,

59:13

give it to dad.

59:15

And I can't, I lose it. I actually can't stop laughing. I don't know why.

59:20

Yeah.

59:21

It's like, it's when you're having a serious conversation and someone in the corner of the room just like farts or does something stupid and you're like, I really wanna listen to you babe. But like someone farted.

59:33

It's the Beatle Moses, we're like,

59:34

you never listen to me anymore. He's like, babe, I'm sorry,

59:37

there's just something so insane behind you right now.

59:38

Something so insane behind you. motorcycle. Yeah, what's the etiquette for that? Do you stop mid-conversation and go, did you hear that? Or do you pretend like you don't?

59:47

I'll let you know when I figure it out. I will try to ignore things at first, but man, if it keeps going, I'm like, what?

59:54

I did breeze past it too quickly.

59:55

Werther's original joke was awesome.

59:57

That was amazing.

59:57

Yeah.

59:58

That was a good joke. A little person in this room opened Werther's and I literally felt like it was like bells going off.

1:00:05

I was like, what, what, what? And I will say the original you saying, is there an old lady around me? I'm sorry. That's a top two. I think the best is still, they have TVs and gyms.

1:00:23

It was wild.

1:00:24

Fully insane. I don't know if I remember those.

1:00:25

That was the TNTL.

1:00:26

Like a fever dream.

1:00:27

Those parts. Like a fever dream?

1:00:29

Yeah, so exactly.

1:00:30

These past four months, I will say, I did lose parts of my memory. Wow. So, like, H, I told you that, and I was like, I don't, I wasn't there.

1:00:40

That makes sense. I wasn't there. Got a lot on your plate. You should try this gaslighting H. No. Yeah, you're so right That's so fun. As a new hobby try gaslighting your husband. Oh my god. I would love to yeah

1:00:51

I mean, I really do him, you know justice when I do his, you know impressions on this this This pod when I go da da da And you're like, wow, that's the only Russian you know? And I'm like, da, da, da, da, da. Oh my God, I missed you guys.

1:01:09

I missed you too, Amanda.

1:01:11

It's so, so nice to be back. It's also so nice to talk to people again.

1:01:18

And it's nice to listen.

1:01:18

You know.

1:01:19

And it's real nice to listen.

1:01:20

It's real nice to listen. They say talk to your baby, so I do. I know people think it's weird but it's actually really fun. And I'm like, did you have a poop? Did you take a good nap? Did you have a good time? And he just loses his mind. That's who I've been talking to.

1:01:38

Yeah. And then you'll be like, but did you see that Dateline last night? Oh my God. She's

1:01:43

guilty. She's guilty, she's guilty.

1:01:45

I will say Dateline is like getting pretty modern now, which is like super cool. They have a roundup, a Dateline roundup.

They do challenges.

1:01:55

They do dances and shit.

1:01:57

No, they have their own TikTok and it's just Keith Morrison doing TikTok.

1:02:01

And that's the tea, honey. Okay, blind ranking serial killers.

1:02:06

Or is it?

1:02:08

No, they have like one reporter doing all the roundups of like the top crimes that are going on, like the top court crimes.

1:02:16

Honey, yeah, I made the roundup. Anyway, I got a call, they're on my tail. Today we're covering the hottest crimes happening in the United States.

1:02:23

Yeah, so.

1:02:24

Wow.

1:02:25

I know. Damn. I listen to that a lot on my pod, so I'm caught up with that.

1:02:31

How has it felt coming back? Because you've already filmed a couple things back here at Smosh.

1:02:37

Yes, my first one I filmed was Assumptions. Okay. And I literally had to like, do like a check with everyone. I was like, should we just delete everything I said? They're like, no, it was totally you, just like heightened with like no filter.

1:02:55

And you said whatever you wanted to.

1:02:56

I was like, yeah.

1:02:58

And I was like, Mike, we need to cut. He's like, oh yeah, no, no, I got it. I know what to cut.

1:03:03

I was like, oh yeah, no, no, I got it. I know what to cut. I was like, okay. That's a tough one to come back to, because it's so like, it's harder to be just yourself on camera sometimes, and that is what that is.

1:03:10

Whereas here we're gonna be like, ah!

1:03:16

And then we played Karens on Bit City. What's a thing to hop back into? Karen's was actually base, it was assumptions and then it was immediately Karen's. Like, hey Amanda, you've been offline for three months. Hey, let's throw a Karen wig on you and let you just go wild.

1:03:32

I mean, here's the deal though, I did, as I told you, I did listen to the headlines in the daily on Spotify, which is like essentially New York Times like smaller version of like the top news for the day. I did listen to that every day. So I'm with it.

1:03:47

You're with it.

1:03:48

But as a Karen.

1:03:51

Yeah, I wonder what's gonna make the cut on that.

1:03:53

Yeah.

1:03:54

I'm excited to see this.

1:03:55

Oh boy.

1:03:56

It was, talk about a fever dream. It was literally me, Shane and Chance and Olivia. I don't even know if I said words. I was crying laughing the whole time. And literally Aaron had to be like, we have to move on, we have to go,

1:04:12

you guys need to stop. And I just, I was laughing so hard.

1:04:16

Yeah, I'm assuming for this one, Olivia was sort of like the straight man then. I'm kidding.

1:04:22

I don't wanna reveal.

1:04:23

I'm kidding.

1:04:24

I don't want to reveal anything,

1:04:25

but that episode is just nuts.

1:04:27

Yeah, but it's fun, because right now, this week, we're filming a bunch of things, and you're in every day, filming with us. It's so much fun.

1:04:35

I'm in every day.

1:04:36

I feel like a lot of the cast has been in every day this week, which has been like a rare treat. It's been wild to be like, oh my god, everyone's here, hi. Yeah, there's seven people in the other room filming Family Feud.

It's so, so nice to be back. It's almost like I'm back at camp or something. Like I have my overnight bag full of pump and milk.

1:04:56

Was there anything that surprised you coming back? Like you're like, oh my god, like,

1:05:02

Trevor, he's got a whole new style. Or like, I don't know. Oh yeah, he immediately told me about his hair.

1:05:06

His hair looks great by the way. I just thought it was a random thing. It's incredible.

1:05:09

But it looks great. Here's what surprised me is like, oh yeah, it takes me a, I have to do my hair and makeup and choose an outfit every day.

1:05:16

Yeah.

1:05:17

That's what surprised me? Anyone who grew out their hair that surprised you?

1:05:26

Oh my God!

1:05:27

And your teeth.

1:05:28

Oh!

1:05:29

Anyone who has a really cool hoodie on. Like a new sweater, new hair.

1:05:32

Your hair is long and it's your natural color, am I right?

1:05:35

Yeah.

1:05:36

Wow.

1:05:37

Thank you, I wasn't fishing or anything.

1:05:39

Yeah, you were.

1:05:40

Amen. Yes, I was so surprised about hairstyles. We got Damien has his hairstyle.

1:05:46

Or it's hair.

1:05:47

We have Trevor with his new hairstyle. Courtney's hair is, I will say, I love Courtney's hair short.

1:05:52

So good.

1:05:53

I am a super fan of her hair right now. It looks amazing. Tommy's hair is still blonde, right? Am I crazy?

1:06:00

Yeah, still blonde.

1:06:01

Still blonde. Still blonde, Arasha I think got a trim, Angela, trim, Chance, same.

1:06:06

Mine's different every day. I like it.

1:06:09

No it's not.

1:06:10

It's just all over the place.

1:06:11

Yours is like a fresh cut all the time. Do you get your hair cut a lot?

1:06:14

No.

1:06:15

What?

1:06:16

Your hair always looks fresh, but I know what you mean about the different thing.

1:06:18

It's like the volume changes every day. It goes from being like a little higher and a little coif to like now it's a little more like straight laced. Yeah, I can't control it.

1:06:26

It's so wild.

1:06:27

It's just wild.

1:06:29

Such a renegade, dude.

1:06:31

I feel the same about my hair. I actually went to the woman who does my hair. She's amazing. She was like, we cannot get you on camera looking like this. Like what? No, she said it, you know how hair dressers will go. I know what you mean.

1:06:45

No, and they do it with love, and you kind of have to go, I accept this.

1:06:50

I accept.

1:06:52

She was correct.

1:06:54

Hey, they're doing serious work. Hey, shout out teachers, nurses, hairdressers.

1:06:57

Hairdressers, no, seriously, they are. I did look like one of the Manson girls. dancing girls, like I really, I was like, my hair. My hair was like. I want to point out the process.

1:07:05

Yeah, where, what?

1:07:07

Just the hair.

1:07:07

Just the hair.

1:07:08

Oh yeah.

1:07:09

My hair was literally like covering my eyes like super straight and long.

1:07:14

You look like the ring.

1:07:15

Yeah, oh Samara.

1:07:17

Should I re-watch the ring?

1:07:19

I don't think so.

1:07:20

Nobody's gonna stop you. Didn't you say it was like hard to watch certain things because you put it through the lens of your,

1:07:25

the whole point of the movie is about a.

1:07:29

You're so right. I'm gonna not.

1:07:31

Don't do it.

1:07:32

I'll stick with Breaking Bad, which is so much lighter.

1:07:34

You know, lighter stuff like Breaking Bad. Got funny quotes like Uncle Hank. Yeah. Does everyone keep breaking that and I'm just like late? I watched it, I was watching it when it was airing. Did you watch Better Call Saul also? I never watched it, and it's kind of one of those, I kind of like where there's a show or a movie where people are like it's the best thing of all time,

1:07:54

and I like not watching it because I'm like, well, I can watch that at some point, and I know there's an amazing thing that I haven't watched yet. Because it's sad when you've watched all the good stuff and it's like there's nothing good left. Only the bad stuff.

1:08:07

I do agree. I will say like, shows when I got time to watch it, it had to be good. Like, Slow Horses was literally like my number one.

1:08:17

Never even heard of that.

1:08:18

It's an apple.

1:08:18

Gary Oldman.

1:08:20

It's like gonna be his last show and he is a nasty man in it. Oh farts all the time. Oh, hell yeah It's so good. Okay guys slow horses. I think but you like shows where it's an old dude. Yeah, I like old dudes Yeah, kind of your thing. Yeah, it's pretty cool know that I think we're out of time. No, no, but hey, go But hey good news Amanda next next week you're gonna be back. But Damien's not gonna be here. Well, but he'll be back. It has been one of the greatest honors of my life

1:08:48

to host this show and keep your seat warm.

1:08:51

Thank you so much for keeping my seat warm and keeping my partner warm.

1:08:54

Hey, no problem. Anytime y'all need it. And I look forward to being back whenever you choose to have me, but I also understand. Yeah, we'll decide. Yeah, right. We'll talk. We'll talk. We'll have we'll have to talk We'll talk with Jonathan. You guys have my number too, and that's my email. Yeah, right. Yeah, this has been great Yeah, we totally got that. I think Jonathan got it. And also like I just want to say like I'm open to notes

1:09:15

You know, I mean like I change stuff all the time like no problem. So like yeah, we'll work on that. Yeah, we'll circle up. We'll circle up, we'll offline about it. We'll offline and circle back.

1:09:26

Yeah, we'll circle back.

1:09:27

Cool, cool, cool.

1:09:28

And if I check in in like a week or two, just means like, you know,

1:09:34

Oh, and yeah, a lot of my stuff goes to spam folders.

1:09:36

Totally. working on that sweatshirt. I do, I like it a lot. It's got the little bunnies on it, and it's very fluffy, and you know, I might just take a nap until I'm needed. I might hibernate for a hundred years

1:09:48

until the day I awaken.

1:09:50

And just kind of like go into the, into it, and once you go into there, it's actually really, really fluffy.

1:09:54

Oh, wow.

1:09:55

Pretty good. Guys, this has been a real treat. Love that. Oh my God, I'm so, so happy to be back. I miss you guys so much. I miss you all so, so much.
