For the past decade, Pouya and his family have proudly served the people of Sutherland in Sydney's south.But at 6am this Wednesday, they're being turfed out of their service station by 7 -Eleven management.

It's all about what the parties agreed to at the start.So what does their franchise agreement say?And typically a franchise agreement will say you're granted the right to operate a franchise for a certain number of years.And at the end of that, it's all over.

On its own website, 7 -Eleven spruiks its franchise model.There are more than 450 small family -owned businesses in the 7 -Eleven franchise network.The Australian chain was privately owned by the Withers and Barlow families for almost 50 years, until late 2023 when they accepted a $1 .17 billion offer from 7 -Eleven International, a joint venture of 7 -Eleven Incorporated and 7 -Eleven Japan.
