Australia has the strangest license plates #cars

Australian license plates are the weirdest in the world, upside down in some ways even.Because back in the 50s, America settled on its squarish plate, and Europe settled on its long horizontal one around the same time as well.But Australia just said no to both.Instead, they created their own unique size, sitting right in between.And of course, this backfired immediately.First Aussies noticed these weird -a plates sit all wrong on imported Euro cars, so the government allowed ordering Euro -sized plates, for a small fee, of course.

But soon after, the same exact problem came back with JDM cars.And so, square plates got the green Except then, the sports car owners showed up.

And they didn't want plates at all.Because on a lower car, the plate covers the grill and chokes the airflow.Which led to yet another compromise.The slimline plates.Same width, just lower.And from here, it only gets weirder.

Because Australian plates physically shrink as the number gets shorter.Meanwhile, the number itself belongs to the owner, not the car.Which is why those tiny single digit plates sell for millions.Oh, and I almost forgot.You can have an emoji on a plate too.
