WA has a new golden claim to fame with the Perth Mint unveiling a record -breaking gold bar weighing more than half a ton.It's officially secured its place in the Guinness World Records.

From tiny granules to a gleaming giant.tipping the scales at 521 .2 kilograms.It's the largest gold bar on the planet.

I'm referring to this as the people's bar.

The Perth Mint smashing the previous Guinness World Record set in Dubai by more than 200 kilograms, refined to an exceptional 99 .999 % purity.
