In case Pambondi being fired wasn't already bad enough, it apparently gets worse for the former attorney general. Immediately upon news releasing about her firing, the big question became, will Pambondi still have to sit for a congressional deposition on April 14th, less than two weeks from now? And just as quickly, we got an answer. Robert Garcia, ranking member of the House Oversight Committee, issued the following
statement, quote, Attorney General Pambondi has been leading a White House cover-up of the Epstein files, she has weaponized the Department of Justice to protect Donald Trump and put survivors in harm's way by exposing their identities, she will not escape accountability and remains legally obligated to appear before our committee under oath. She must answer for her mishandling of the Epstein files and the special treatment she has given Ghislaine Maxwell.
Oversight Democrats have been leading serious investigations into Bondi and Secretary Christine Ohm. If they think we are moving on because they were fired, they are gravely mistaken. So the position of House Oversight Democrats and Robert Garcia is that Pam Bondi WILL still have to appear for her sworn deposition. However, it's worth remembering something important.
The Republican Party isn't and never has been interested in true accountability, because Pam Bondi's refusal to be forthright wasn't a bug, it was a feature of this administration. Which is why now, as far as Republicans on the committee are concerned, Semaphore is reporting that the Oversight Committee spokesperson for Republicans says, quote, "...since Pam Bondi is no longer Attorney General, Chairman Comer will speak with Republican members and the Department of Justice about the status of the deposition subpoena and confer on next steps." Which is a lot of words to say that the writing is on the wall and James Comer is all but
guaranteed to confer with the DOJ and decide that, surprise surprise, now that Pam Bondi's no longer AG, somehow her valid subpoena no longer applies. But remember, the subpoena was issued to Pam Bondi, not to the office of the Attorney General. It's still valid whether she's the Attorney General or not. And you don't get to defy a subpoena just because you've changed or lost your job. If I was working at YouTube and then I got subpoenaed by Congress and then I left my
job at YouTube to go work at Facebook, do you think that I could simply tell the oversight committee or Congress that I got a new job and therefore their subpoena of me no longer applies? It's the same logic at play here. Getting fired is not some magic bullet to avoid accountability. But here's the thing. Nothing that this administration or the GOP do is for true accountability. This is the same party that is right now engaged in a massive cover up of the Epstein files.
You think if these people actually wanted to follow the law, they would be running cover for a president who's not only named 38,000 times in the files, but nearly four months past the deadline to release them? Of course not. The whole thing has been a cover-up. And so the notion that James Comer will suddenly find a conscience is a joke. He's done barely above the bare minimum, just enough to assuage popular pressure, but never more than what was absolutely required. And let's be clear, he will jump at the opportunity to claim that now that Bondi's out of her
role there's no more need to have her sit for a deposition. I don't claim to be able to predict the future, but I'm pretty damn certain of that. In fact, this wouldn't even be the first effort Bondi made to avoid having to be deposed under oath. After the April 14th subpoena was issued, she decided that she would hold an off-the-record briefing for members of the committee, which was largely believed to be her way of satisfying her obligations without those pesky nuisances like telling the truth. In fact,
I spoke with multiple Democrats about exactly that point. Are you confident that she will show up for the April 14th deposition, given the fact that she offered herself up for an off the record briefing with members of Congress just a week or two ago and that there was some concern that her doing that would be her way of saying, well, look, I've already been transparent and I'm here for an off-the-record briefing, and so now there's no need for me to show up under oath and do a deposition for the oversight committee.
I do believe she will show up. The reason I believe she will show up is there are Republicans on the committee who will not tolerate her avoiding it. But it's not 100%. She refused to give that 100% confirmation to me or Robert Garcia when asked about it. So we have to be vigilant. I just think it would be total political malpractice for her not to show up. And Comer himself has said that she must show up. Why? Because he sees
the votes in the committee. I mean, there are Republicans who would be outraged.
Do you think that what Pam Bondi is attempting to do in the aftermath of the subpoena being issued to her to come testify for a private deposition in April, that by holding a briefing, and this just took place yesterday, that she's looking to basically satisfy her requirements in her own mind so that she doesn't have to fulfill any obligations to appear for that private deposition per the subpoena that she received.
And Pam Bondi is a partisan, petulant, petty fogger. She is a political hack. She's deeply unqualified. And we saw how she performed when she came before the House Judiciary Committee, before the American people, performing for Donald Trump and no one else, acting like she's his personal lawyer
as opposed to the people's lawyer, which is the job of the Attorney General. And she's engaging in a massive cover-up as it relates to the Epstein files, which is why, led by House Democrats, we have forced the Oversight Committee to subpoena her. And now, Brian, as you've indicated, she's trying to get around that by holding a briefing.
This is unheard of as far as I'm concerned. There was no deposition transcript, there was no recordings, and there was no swearing her under oath. And so she can say all manner of things without fear of being prosecuted at some point later on for perjury. And so Summer Lee was exactly right, that Pam Bondi needs to testify under oath before the
American people. So we can talk about the massive cover up that the Department of Justice has undertaken. There are about 3 million files connected to the Jeffrey Epstein situation that Epstein survivors have firmly and appropriately and passionately demanded be released so we can achieve transparency and full accountability.
I should also note that I'll be interviewing Robert Garcia, ranking member of the House Oversight Committee, today about what powers the Democrats have to compel her testimony and to stay in line with that already lawfully issued subpoena. So if you want to watch that interview, please make sure to subscribe to this channel. But the truth is that per usual, this administration and party will stop at nothing to suppress the truth.
If that wasn't the case, we would have the Epstein files fully released by now. But we have seen with our own eyes that this has been nothing but obfuscation, delays, and lies since day one. The fact that Pam Bondi lied about the files being on her desk more than a year ago is a testament to that.

Get started freeThe fact that those right-wing influencers waved around their fake binders is a testament to that. The fact that Ghislaine Maxwell was moved to a low-security prison with no explanations is a testament to that. The fact that nearly four months after the files were supposed to be released and 3 million files still haven't been released is a testament to that. The fact that what few files were released included redacted accomplice names and exposed
victims' names is a testament to that. And now, the latest step in this cover-up will be the Republican effort to nullify Pam Bondi's subpoena so that she never has to answer for her corrupt behavior under oath. But if we've learned anything from Bondi's firing, it's that this administration is not immune to public pressure. And in the same way that Pam Bondi was forced out of her role amid that massive public pressure, so too can that pressure apply to ensuring that she abides by the lawfully issued subpoena.
That's our job, to never let off the gas and demand that she answers for what she knows under penalty of perjury. Before you go, I'm very excited to announce that I've written a new book titled The Day After, How to Wield Power in a Post-Trump World. The book explores what is, in my opinion, the single most important theme that we're dealing with in politics today and moving forward—power, specifically how Republicans
abuse it and how Democrats refuse to wield it. This book explains how we got here and more importantly, how we should finally wield power if we're lucky enough to get it back. It is the blueprint for progressives who want to do far more than just restore the status quo. Please pre-order today by following the link on this screen.
