Later, Iranian media claimed that a naval site in Konarak had been attacked by an quote -unquote enemy earlier.Iran reported that the latest missiles fired towards the country had been launched from Kuwait.At the same time, an American news channel reported that Qatar and Pakistan are working to bring the United States and Iran back to the negotiations table.An official American source said that the United States is not currently carrying out strikes in Iran, and nevertheless, efforts to achieve calm are continuing.While Arab media outlets claim that Kuwait and Bahrain were responsible for the strikes in Iran, either which way, Gulf states, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Bahrain have declared a state of maximum alert.and some of them reported that Iranian drones had been seen monitoring their airspace.

Officials in Washington made clear that the United States had not carried out another wave of strikes during those hours.

Iranian state television denied some of the reports but did not provide a complete explanation for what happened in the other areas.

So who was operating inside Iran while the regime was trying to display control, unity, and strength during the funeral of the Supreme Leader?

The most unusual incident took place far from the south of the country in the city of Mashhad.During Ali Khamenei's funeral procession, two men wearing military uniforms opened fire with handguns at Basij members on Fakhouri Boulevard.Two members of the force were killed.Additional gunfire was heard near the Imam Reza shrine and the attackers escaped.Iranian security forces launched a manhunt, but at this point there is no confirmed identification of the shooters and no organization has claimed responsibility.It was a small incident in terms of the number of people involved, but a very large one in terms of perception.

It happened in the city where the regime buried Khamenei, inside a heavily secured area, and on the day Iran wanted to show that the government was still functioning and in control.The funeral procession ended after the coffin passed through Tehran, Qom, Najaf, and Karbala.Senior regime officials attended the ceremony in Mashhad, including Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Galibaf.Mahdi Nasrallah, the son of the eliminated Hezbollah Secretary General, Hassan Nasrallah, was also seen at the ceremony.The person who did not appear was the new Supreme Leader, Mujtaba Khamenei.Officials in Tehran claim that he is still recovering from his injuries and that the security establishment has limited his exposure.

His absence is feeding a deeper question.Who's really running Iran right now?Who has the authority to make a decision that will bind all of its centers of power?The American problem is that there is no longer one Iranian address.

President Massoud Pazashkian and Foreign Minister Abbas Saragchi can conduct talks, sign documents, and promise calm.They're not necessarily capable of controlling the Revolutionary Guards, their navy, or the commanders operating missiles and drones.For decades, Khamenei was the man who decided between the religious establishment, the government, the military, and the people.

And after his death, the military security establishment is gaining power.From Washington's perspective, every agreement with Iran becomes more fragile when the person signing isn't necessarily the person controlling the launches.That's exactly what exploded this week in the Strait of Hormuz.The Memorandum of Understanding was supposed to restore commercial shipping, stop the attacks, and open a path towards final negotiations.

But Article 5 was written in a way that allowed each side to read a different document.

The United States understood that Iran was committing to guarantee free passage without payment for 60 days.Traffic was supposed to begin immediately and become fully regulated within 30 days, after mines and military obstacles were removed.Iran read the same article differently.Tehran claims that the responsibility given to it for arranging passage gives the Revolutionary Guard the authority to determine routes, approve movement, and rejects paths coordinated with the American Navy.

Later, Iran and Oman are supposed to discuss a future mechanism for managing maritime services in the Strait.For the Americans, this is a technical coordination designed to protect freedom of navigation.For hardline elements in Iran, this is an opportunity to gain practical recognition of Iranian control.

The result can already be felt on the water.Before the war, more than 100 commercial vessels passed through the Strait every single day.

Recently, that number dropped to 49, and the following day to only 25.Iran does not need to sink a tanker in order to damage global trade.

The approach of a fast boat, a missile threat, a drone over a deck, or a warning that a shipping company is not permitted to use a certain route is sufficient to raise insurance prices.The moment shipping companies change course, delay a voyage, or leave tankers in port, the Iranian pressure is already working.Trump decided to answer with fire.

Over two nights, the American military struck more than 170 targets in Iran, around 80 in the first wave and 90 in the second.The target list shows what the Americans are trying to accomplish.They struck air defense systems, coastal surveillance and monitoring equipment.missile and drone storage facilities, naval capabilities, and logistical infrastructure.The objective is not only to destroy equipment.

The United States is trying to break the chain that begins in an Iranian warehouse, passes through a command center, and ends with a boat, missile, or drone approaching a commercial shipping route.One of the targets was the Aktaka -Khan railway bridge in northern Iran.The bridge is part of a corridor connecting Iran to Turkmenistan, China, and Russia.Since the tightening of the naval blockade, this land route has become much more important.Iran claims that Chinese freight train traffic through the corridor has tripled, and that Russia has been using it to transport goods since the end of last year.

A strike on a bridge like this is not aimed only at the military on the front line.

It strikes the economic connection that allows the regime to bring in equipment, continue trading, and keep the Revolutionary Guards operating while the ports are under pressure.According to Iran's health ministry, 14 people were killed and 78 were wounded in the American strikes over the past two days.These figures have not been independently verified, but they demonstrate the scale of the attacks.The Bushehr area was also struck, close to one of the most sensitive sites in Iran.The United States emphasizes that it is attacking military capabilities, but the proximity to the nuclear facilities immediately raises the level of concern.Disruption in such an area could turn a limited military event into a nuclear, environmental, and diplomatic crisis.

Iran responded through the countries hosting American forces.It announced that it had launched 10 missiles towards Jordan, while the Jordanian military reported intercepting eight of them.The target was Muwakaf Salty Air Base, which is pronounced Muwafak, Air Base, which is also by the United States military.Jordan reports no significant damage.Kuwait intercepted three ballistic missiles, one cruise missile, and 10 drones.

One person was wounded by shrapnel and limited damage was caused.At least two attacks were carried out towards areas in Bahrain where military facilities are located, including the headquarters of the United States 5th Fleet.

Trump's next response is still unclear.For many hours, he avoided publicly addressing the escalation.

The Revolutionary Guards understand that the pressure on them does not end in the Strait of Hormuz.They may also lose the most important military asset they've built outside Iran.Hezbollah entered the latest war without the approval of the Lebanese government, tried to tie its fate to the agreement between Washington and Tehran, and hoped Iran would insert its rescue into the international deal.

The framework agreement between Israel and Lebanon broke that connection and established that an IDF withdrawal would depend on Hezbollah being disarmed.

And on the ground, the IDF is not waiting for the argument in Beirut to end.Forces from the 91st Division, the 551 Brigade Combat Team, and the Ahalom Combat Engineers destroyed two additional underground routes in Majdalzun.Their combined length was around 200 meters.They reached a depth of approximately 20 meters.Inside the tunnels, the troops found rooms designed for prolonged stays, command centers, and three launching shafts aimed directly towards Israeli territory.And above ground, mortar shells, rocket launchers, RPG rockets, ammunition, and dozens of weapons were found hidden inside civilian areas.

The structure of the underground system reveals Hezbollah battle plan.One route was designed to serve as a protected command post from which combat could be managed even while the village was under aerial attack.Another route was made up of fighting tunnels and exit points designed to allow terrorists to emerge from different directions and fire at advancing forces.The houses and orchards were also part of the system.Soldiers found weapons and anti -tank missiles in places that appeared completely civilian from the outside.Majd al -Zun did not merely host terrorist infrastructure.

The village was built as a forward base almost 12 kilometers inside Lebanon.The current stage is especially dangerous because what the IDF calls the trapped terrorist phenomenon.These are terrorists who remained behind after the area was captured or who infiltrated and could not escape because of the encirclement.They are cut off from supplies and withdraw routes, but they are still armed and familiar with the tunnels, the houses, and the ruins.Such a terrorist can wait for days, and emerge when an engineering force reaches a shaft or when soldiers enter a building.The 551st Brigade recently eliminated an armed terrorist near one of the routes in Majdalzoun.

A similar incident occurred in the Bin Jbeil area.The Air Force also continued to operate beyond the ground campaign.A targeted strike was reported in Nabatiyah al -Faqwa, an area identified by thea major Hezbollah stronghold.And at first, no official details were provided about the target of the results of the strike.The operation itself makes clear that the diplomatic framework does not grant Hezbollah immunity, as long as the organization maintains command centers, warehouses, launchers, and military operatives.

Israel is preserving its freedom of action, even while negotiations move forward.Now the framework agreement signed in Washington on June the 26th is now supposed to move from declarations to implementation.The first pilot zone is expected to begin operating within days, and additional zones are already being mapped and planned.The United States Central Command is coordinating the process with Israel and Lebanon.The idea is that the IDF will evacuate a defined area after clearing it, The Lebanese army will enter, collect weapons, prevent Hezbollah from returning, and later allow reconstruction on the return of residents.On paper, it sounds organized.

On the ground, there is still no clear timetable for an Israeli withdrawal.The Lebanese army says it has not received all the details, and the IDF is waiting for instructions from the political leadership.Hezbollah has already announced that it will not respect the agreement.Naim Qassem called it a humiliation and declared that not a single article would be approved.Hassan Fadala warned that the Lebanese government would not be able to enforce the agreement without an American -backed civil war.Now, supporters of the organization blocked roads and burned signs carrying the slogan, Lebanon First.

Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salim refused to back down.He says he's not looking for a confrontation with Hezbollah, but he will also not allow the government to be subjected to blackmail.For the Lebanese state, the test is not over.Lebanon.The question is whether decisions about war, borders and weapons are made in Beirut or in Tehran.The memory of May 2008 is still alive, when Hezbollah sent armed men into the streets after the government tried to act against its independent communications network.

Therefore, the threat of a civil war is not an empty statement.It is based on a precedent the Lebanese know very well.Tehran understands that a defeat in Lebanon would change the regional balance of power.If the Lebanese army gains real control, Hezbollah is disarmed, and Israel gradually withdraws, Iran will lose the military structure it built over more than four decades.That is why Lebanon is expected to stand at the center of the next round of negotiations between Iran and the United States.The Revolutionary Guards will try to save Hezbollah through diplomatic pressure, economic threats, and the activation of allies.

Washington will try to separate the agreement with Iran from the future of the Lebanese state.The struggle over Hormuz is also expanding into competition over the trade routes of the future.The economic corridor connecting India, the Middle East, and Europe, known as the IMEC, is designed to move goods through India, the Gulf states, Israel, and Europe.using a combination of ports, railways, and energy infrastructure.The project was launched in September 2023 and received new momentum after shipping disruptions in the Gulf.In the future, it may include electricity and energy connections between Israel, Cyprus, and Greece.

And it's important to be precise.IMEC cannot replace the Strait of Hormuz tomorrow morning.There is still no continuous railway, no complete logistical system, and parts of the project depend on diplomatic agreements and investmentsworth billions.But in the long term, it could reduce Iran's ability to hold the global economy hostage.Every container that can move through an alternative route and every energy connection that bypasses the Gulf will slightly reduce the Revolutionary Guard's leverage.

That's why Iran also fears Israel's inclusion in the corridor.A connection between India, moderate Arab states Israel, and Europe is not only a transportation project, it creates a shared economic interest between countries that want stability, open ports, and protected infrastructure.Iran will try to promote alternative routes through Turkey and Syria in order to leave Israel off the map.Israel, on the other hand, will try to prove that the route through its territory is shorter, safer, and more practical.The Revolutionary Guards are already examining a change in strategy.After the American response demonstrated that every attack on a ship could bring dozens of aircraft and cruise missiles, Tehran is considering shifting part of the pressure from the military arena to the economic and information arenas.

Instead of directly attacking an American base, it can disrupt shipping, raise oil prices, and turn the cost of fuel into a political issue inside the United States ahead of the midterm elections.They're also expected to increase propaganda against Trump and try to present any future agreement as an American surrender.The problem for Iran is that these tools work in both directions.An attempt to raise oil prices could convince Trump to tighten the blockade.A threat against water and energy facilities in Gulf states could push those same countries towards closer military cooperation with the United States.And an attack on a ship could accelerate investment in trade routes that bypass Iran.
