Welcome back.Well, breaking news, Rupert Lowe says he will work with Nigel Farage in that X video.I'm sure you guys are all privy to that, but if you're just tuning in now, that is what's going on.I want to welcome George Madrick, love George, leader of Reform UK in Hampshire.George, welcome to the show.

0:16

Thanks for having me on.How are you?

0:18

I'm great.Let's take a listen to what Rupert said this morning.

0:24

So, Nigel, my message is simple. If you are prepared to work together around serious policies, serious reform and serious government, then so are we.Not because it's politically convenient to restore Britain, not because it's personally easy, but millions and millions of British people deserve a patriotic government that puts our national interests before any personal differences that you and I may have.

1:00

Well, George, I really appreciate you joining me, truly. Is Nigel Farage's biggest opponent now Labour or Rupert Lowe?

1:08

Look, it's still Labour. That hasn't changed. But I do, you know, look, I think anybody on our side of politics tomorrow, whatever party you currently follow, agrees that fundamentally, we must have some form of unification in some aspect before the next general election to ensure that Liberals, Greens and Labour can never run this country again, because we're on a precipice where I truly believe that the next general election, if we don't make serious change, we're going to end up ruining the country to irreversible effects. So I think Fundamentally, most people believe that this is kind of on a precipice now, and we must do some form of unification in some aspect with different parties on the right, whether that be Conservative or Restore or Reform, etc.So it's a welcome open door, but sometimes the messaging can be a little bit publicity, a bit more of a publicity stunt, I think, than actuallyfundamental principles.

2:01

Right, so what you're saying is the door is open to Rupert Lowe? There could be a potential pact?

2:07

I think in my personal opinion, and I don't speak on behalf of the whole of Reform HQ, but in my personal opinion I think that it's sensible for people on the right to unify where possible.I think absolutely that should be a possibility where we can do so.But Rupert in his message has put a load of red lines down, five red lines down. These are not negotiables for him and I don't think fundamentally that's necessarily the best way of starting these negotiations off or conversations off.I think that some of of them will become unpalatable to many people in the general population.I'm not talking about the party.

2:42

I think in the population, many of them will be unpalatable. And Restore fundamentally, let's just get one thing straight. They have no route to power. They have absolutely no route to run.

2:51

So why form a pact with them then?

3:23

It's Labour Green coalition at the next government. That's something that anybody in the right, forget what party you're aligned with for a second, forget what party you're aligned with, that is a concern. We cannot allow these left -wing ideologists anywhere near power for any longer. So that's where he holds the keys of power is his disruption with the party. And he knows, he's not a silly man, this guy is a very experienced, very knowledgeable businessman. He knows he has no roots of power.

3:52

So he's looking to be

4:06

Actually, he's putting Nigel in the impossible position, which will ultimately destroy him, which means Nigel...Because let's be frank, George.Nigel and Rupert Lowe hate each other. They do.Rupert Lowe is described, Nigel Farage, as totally poisonous. You've got Nigel Farage who said Rupert Lowe is vengeful.

4:23

It's not just water under a bridge. There's also been police investigations involved that I think Rupert's never fully recovered from.Let's be real here.Do you think that Rupert Lowe's intentions are pure?He has said that he literally said publicly he wants to end Nigel Farage.

4:39

No, I don't think his intentions are pure.I'm a cynicist.I don't believe his intentions are pure in any capacity.I think this is a great publicity stunt on behalf of Restore. It puts Nigel in a position and our group in a position where the general population the majority of the population anyway will see this as a genuine offer or an olive branch, but I see right past that.I don't believe it's a genuine olive branch, I believe he's pushing the right of politics, not just Nigel, but other people in the right of politics into a position that's untenable and unworkable.

5:10

Now as a businessman, as I say, he is an experienced businessman and a little like Trump, they start right at the top, they go for their kind of high -end big headline grabbing scenarios which is exactly what he's done here because look we're on the news talking about it but fundamentally if he actually believes in uniting the country if he believes for the greater goods that we need to unite and stop this left -wing ideologist which I completely do he's gonna have to climb down from his his stern views He is a very vengeful person, Rupert Lowe. And he's not just in politics, but in business over years. He's done some incredible vengeful practices where he puts the interest of himself before others.his business or for his party in this instance and I believe that could still be a possibility. But look...

5:55

But you're still happy to do a pact with him even if he is vengeful? You're willing to let the fox into the hen house?

6:03

That's certainly not a decision that is in my pay grade, that is for HQ to decide and they are much more sensible than I in these categories and much more appropriate to do those decisions but I say fundamentally as I started this conversation I believe that we have to unite the right in some capacity, which by the way includes Conservatives, to make sure that Liberals and Greens, specifically Greens, have absolutely no ability to hold any strings of power.in our next government.

Well, United Hampshire at least.George, I've got a bit of a sneaky question for you actually.Have you had much contact from Reform HQ today?No.Absolutely.So, because I can see that you're rather eloquently sharing your personal view, which I don't disagree with largely, but I think ultimately what's going to need to happen from a reform perspective is that they're going to have to have a consolidated view on what the way forward is given this.

7:28

Now, you might think, I might think, this is a slightly cynical move from Rupert Lowe and therefore maybe it doesn't hold too much weight, but of course it does optically. So do you think that What do you hope comes from your HQ later today slash tomorrow?

7:45

Look, that's their decision. My view, and my view has always been since the day I got elected back in 2021 as an independent, and to this day as a reformed person, I always believe that fundamentally we have to keep the door open to sensible conversations with like -minded people like myself.you and Samara. You know we might not all vote the same, we might not all believe on every single point the same, but we must keep that door open to fundamentally work together where possible to ensure that this country has got common sense, common ground and becomes a sensible government in 2029 or if there's an earlier general election. So what I would like to hear is that the door is open at least for future conversations but fundamentally It has to be coming from a genuine place, and that's where I doubt Rupert's intentions, but we will see.I'm hopeful.

8:35

Just lastly, because we've only got a minute, someone's texted in without a name saying, if Farage doesn't accept the meeting about the offer, it proves he's the one not putting the country first. What do you have to say to that?if there's no meeting.

8:48

I think that's fundamentally incorrect.Look, social media, especially Restore, live in a bubble. And they live in a bubble where they believe that they're the biggest party in the world and they're going to take the next government. They're not.

8:58

George, I'm going to have to stop you there because we've got to go.But I really appreciate you coming on.I think that's given us a lot more clarity on reform's position.
