A massive Sunday footy show coming up.Scotty Peterbury breaks the record and the panel is all here.Damo's gone to the back of his closet and found his North Melbourne duffel coat. He's up and about this morning.Adelaide, Port Adelaide have losses.Rory's going to have a look at that.

0:13

Lordo, Lordo's talking about the corridor of Sydney being taken away from him.And Isaac Smith, well he's going to talk about Isaac Smith. And I've finally got rid of TJ, but only for a week. That's on the Sunday footy show.Plenty coming up.Very good morning and welcome to the Sunday Footy Show.

0:31

I am back as the host, TJ, having a break at the moment. It was all about Scotty Pendlebury yesterday, so we'll get into that.Zayn Dersma today, Wicks on the handle today, Mediocre's back, Lorto's deep dive, all the great segments as I introduce this amazing panel. And I tell you what, the kangaroos are up and about, Damo.I told you they were coming, and they are going well.

0:49

I have got the 27.double coat out, Brownie, that Keith Gregg's back out.Hey, big two hours coming up with you as host, because I love seeing the way you seize these TJ -less moments as host.So what do you reckon, Lordo?Big two hours for Brownie?

1:03

Yeah, even myself, Dame.I was watching Collingwood and Pendles, and I started getting emotional.I was thinking, what's making me so emotional? It was you hosting today.

1:09

I think it's where you want to be.

1:10

It's where you should be.

1:11

We don't have an off the top of funny for the king of comedy, so Lordo's trying to go with some stuff.

1:15

I was going to say, Lordo, what made you more emotional, that or the fact that Pendles is making a stack of cash for him?Sometimes you've got to be happy for people.

1:51

ever attack you, just attacks everybody else.

1:53

Actually, I got something sent from TJ, it was going to be on you.I declined it, that wasn't up to scratch.Let's get into the results.

2:13

They reminded everyone they're going to be there about yet again. The Eagles were really gallant against Collingwood in Pendlebury's milestone match. They fell short. And Carlton's two straight now under interim coach Josh Fraser.

2:23

And we'll look at the latter. And as you mentioned, the latter leaders in Frio.10 in a row, unbelievable.Geelong, I think, will solidify a top two spot. They're going to keep dominating the rest of the year.If I look at the top six, I think Gold Coast might slide out.

2:37

Brisbane will go in.I'm not sure where Adelaide sit at the moment, neither. And Collingwood, they'll keep fighting for that top 10.We go to the bottom half of the ladder, the Bulldogs are north. The Kangas. The Kangas, yeah.

2:47

Kanga, Kanga, Kanga.Gee, that was good on the weekend. But Carlton, what can Carlton do for the remainder of the year and where can they finish? It's going to be a great watch and poor Essendon.Down the bottom of the ladder, Brownie.

2:56

We couldn't start anywhere else other than the MCG yesterday. The record -breaking game.4 -3 -3 to Scottie Pendlebury. And apart from maybe Nick Dacost, they might have coughed this one up, Lorto.

3:05

Brownie, it was done really well, I thought, by the club and the AFL.Damon, really classy, wasn't it?It was.Start to finish.

3:12

21 years in the making, and then they nailed that moment right here.10 minutes into the first quarter, the acknowledgement of him, the fact that they actually paused play.It was fortuitous that a behind had been kicked, but the fact they stopped it, Lorto, was brilliant. The way that man himself conducted himself.all week in the lead up to the game, pre -match and then post -match, just getting amongst it.

What a moment for not only Pendle's family, but the fans like that. That'll be a moment edge in time for them. They'll never ever forget that moment, the show they put on, the fireworks at the end.The gold numbers for everybody. The gold numbers for players. How good is a player to have a gold numbered jumper?

3:43

Incredible, incredible scenes at the G. Yeah, it was and absolutely loved it and Scott Pendlebury deserved every accolade he got this week. But what I loved most was the second stoppage of the game, Lordo. How good was this?Harley Reid v Scott Pendlebury. You've got the old man vs. the penalty.Just bang, get away.

3:59

And then the best thing about it was they got together and then Scottie Pendlebury got him back as well.Lined him up, put him over the boundary. And I think that's an underrated part of Scott Pendlebury's career.Everyone talks about how classy he is, how good he is with the football, how good his football IQ is.But playing so many years against him, Rory, he is as tough as they come as well.

4:19

I've never seen him go in that hard in 400 games.

4:23

That's why he's played so many.Would that be the pride in him? That he'd get embarrassed earlier and he goes, I want to make up for it?

4:29

I've never seen that from him before. That was amazing. It is.And I reckon he lied to him, like he knew.He was, I'm going to pick a moment today and I'm going to get you on.

4:35

I'm not sure where it's going to be, but there will be one. There were some shaky moments, as we've already touched on, with how the game unfolded. And some of those were linked to the injuries that Collingwood sustained.Darcy Moore, yet again, has gone down with soft tissue. And this is the more serious one, though, that happened late in the last quarter with Jamie Elliott rolling that knee. The club itself has yet to diagnose publicly what that means, but we saw the game stop for a long period of time.

4:58

He was taken off on the rolling stretcher and you just knew with the way he reacted and his teammates reacted that there was a serious issue.Captain Darcy Moore here, prior to halftime hurting that hamstring again. It was only his fourth game of the season. He had a really injury interrupted passage through 2026 and given he was subbed out of the game at halftime.he's going to be again missing.Major drama for Collingwood in an injury perspective.

5:24

The Jamie Elliott one, Lord, I'll come to you because you've got a bit of a story, but I've never seen someone go down with a knee and it looks like an ACL, but it must be a pretty bad one given he had to get on the green whistle.

5:33

Yeah, so the example I had on that, we're talking about pre -show, was Max King, year 12 at Halebury, round one, and he knee buckled from under him and he was shivering and shaking through the pain for hours after the game. And we couldn't move him and the reason why he'd done his ACLall the damage around the ACL he'd also done so instead of missing 12 months he missed 16 months so it was cartilage it was all sorts of things around the ACL which made the pain still there so that's what you presume he's not just done the ACL but he's done so much around it as well.

6:14

but the Cats very, very hard to beat at home.

6:17

Oh, and their second quarter, Brownie was an absolute clinic. They took away the corridor, but they're finishers. They've just got class everywhere.I mean, Jez is in a league of his own when it comes to goals inside forward 50, but they had danger kicking them from the boundary as well.Jez had kicked another one from the boundary.Atkins on the left foot here.

6:33

Manor hit the scoreboard. They put on a clinic. They took away the corridor as Wardle touched on in a sec, but then they used it themselves and they moved the ball with speed and did what Sydney have been doing to everyone.every other team at the moment, Walter?

6:45

Yeah, and it's not the first time they've done it this year, it's not the first time they've done it in the past 15, 16 years of Chris Scott coaching. They just continually beat the best teams in the competition. So, prior to yesterday, they've already taken down Fremantle, they've already beaten Brisbane, they've now beaten Sydney, and their one point loss to Hawthorne back on that particular Easter Monday game might even have been their best performance of the year, despite it being a loss. So, they're going to be there about yet again, Brownie, as they Chris Scott, amazing coach.

7:11

Last week against Brisbane he took out obviously Fletcher and also Harris Andrews and the type of moves.Yesterday he had four rucks go up against Brodie Grundy to help with that but he also put Jack Martin to Nick Blakey and they shut down the corridor. Here's Bailey Smith speaking of that after the game.

7:28

massive focus you know the number one handball meters gained and number one coming through the corridor um off rebound defense so and they just give it to you know Blakey and almost say make it up so that was the focus of ours um Jack Martin went to him and and yeah we just really wanted to patrol the corridor if they're going to get anything they get it out wide and going to try and go fast um that way butwe're not going to let them come through the corridor and I thought they doubled down on that in the second half and tried to take those kicks and we were on it so got a lot of those turnovers and yeah they're a great side so it's one thing doing it now we want to do it in September so that's the main thing.

7:57

So Sydney have some answers.Dean Cox has to come up with...Okay, the competition's gone to school on us.It was Collingwood last week where they got 33 points up and now it's Geelong. So just a bit of vision here.So they say you can go as wide as you want but we're not giving you the corridor.

8:12

So that's obviously on turnover. They just punished them in that. They pressured it.So I said I'm just saying what's Dean Cox going to do?So this one was a ripper. So you see Humphrey.

8:21

He says...In recent weeks, players were getting drawn out to that, whereas Humphrey's saying, you can take it, I'm going to stay corridor and we are going to punish you on the way back.So it's how Sydney can be better defensively. What can Sydney do to counteract that?Do they need to take the wider one?Take the wider one and predict, because this is what Geelong cut off.

8:41

And in the end, 32 scoring shots Geelong, they had on the day demo as a result of just punishing.

8:48

So you've been saying for a couple of weeks now, the Swans have been exposed to the public or the wider public.with what they've been doing. Is there a problem now for them?

9:22

back going or wouldn't mind to have a loss or even if we have a close win but we play really poorly in certain situations some coaching points and Sydney are going to work through that.

9:30

We always talk about Chris Scott and how good he is and the fact that he comes up with so many things but to the players they have to implement that from a week -to -week basis so they might do something differentweekly. How do the players react to it?He does something like Jack Martin yesterday, so everybody else has to work around that, and it seems like The best clubs like Geelong get it right more often than not.

10:19

group of different players coming through and they're buying into it as well so they're going really well.

10:23

Just on the Sydney front then, how would you adjust? They love the corridor and everyone knows they love the corridor. How do you adjust to it?

10:30

I look at Brisbane and Geelong and they've got a really good balance of both. When they can turn the ball over high they can go quick through the corridor so it's probably not trying to force it from deep in your defensive half.I think in deep in defensive half that's where you can chip mark and you can go around and then when you're up in about the mid part of the ground you can look to dart back in the corridor and use the speed off there. So you're just going a bit quick.Yeah, going a bit too quick and trying to force it at times.

10:52

And you need different modes. So GMHBA, skinnier than and because if you tag him inside he gets you on the outside with his run but if you put a runner on him he can get the runner inside as well so I know there's always a lotabout Bailey Smith and his off -field stuff as well. But I just love what he's bringing to the football field at the moment.

11:40

Well, let's head to Marvel Stadium. They say a week is a long time in football.A quarter was a long time in football for the Gold Coast Suns yesterday. The Kangaroos, 43 points down Damo. And they came back and they did it so well.A big win for the football team.

11:51

Yeah, they did, Brownie. And again, you have been on them all year. And I'm yet to pick up on it.And maybe I start leading too.Because this was a 43 -point come from behind win.win and you mentioned about a week being a difference.

12:02

They were humiliated last week with 10 goals by the Adelaide Crows in a quarter and 13 in a row.But these are genuine scenes of emotion here, Isaac, as they celebrate this win from this big come from behind situation that they've been in.So it's the first time they've beaten a team significantly above them on the ladder. It's a great franking of what they have been about.

12:21

Well, what they've done a few times this year as well, Damon, I know you're struggling to buy in.I really like the improvement of North Melbourne.I've been on them all year. But what they are doing is they're getting a lot of momentum changes in games. And this young group are able to turn it.And we're seeing the best of LDU.

12:36

George Wardlaw was huge in that last passage of play as well. But Finn O'Sullivan to me is their most important player at the moment. And I genuinely love what North Melbourne are building. And you've got to be patient because they are young.I know they have some older players. But they're building and they're going to show a bit in the next 18 months.

12:53

Bravery comes in many forms but in this case it came in running.Gut running and also using the footy in the last quarter. So they go back here and this is Caleb Daniel. So much maligned Caleb Daniel since he's gone from North Melbourne.Have a look at where he is right here.He is the last player in the chain.

13:07

Have a look at every Gold Coast player ahead of him right now. This is a slow build up.They're using the ball nicely, the Kangaroos, but Caleb Daniel keeps running. Here he is still running past people. So he's at the back of the screen still, but the only one that wanted to run to get this ball.So that's bravery to run and get the first one when they're 26 points down.

13:24

So they get the first one and all of a sudden things start to move. This is bravery with the football.Davies youThe easy handball, as I pause it, is out here. He's got a player on his own out here, steps back into the traffic, brings it back into the middle, and away they go.So bravery with the ball use.

13:39

And as they started to build, again, this isn't perfect from Caleb Daniel, but when you're behind, the bravery to put it into the middle, almost get it, and then they run, and they find something happens when you're brave with the football. Not super with the football, but you've got to be brave, you've got to be calculated.another good ball inside forward 50.But the last quarter was so many. This is the one from Luke Parker. This is the most amazing kick in football right now.

If you can kick the 45 into the middle and you can play on with a handball, that is footy in 2026.And they did it so well.Davies Uniac over 50 metres. We won't show the handball that Larkey gives off here, but they kicked the goal again. And then this one, we're going to take Dezain Dersma. He's coming on the handball, but he still needs to make the right decision.

14:20

So There are so many options there.Has to make the right decision. He makes the decision where three players are focusing in and I just thought the bravery to run and the bravery of the football got him over the line in the end.

14:51

That sequence is again, unfortunately for the Gold Coast Suns, potentially in play.

14:55

Can't see them winning too many games.Just on that, Isaac.Scenario training. So that would have come into play. What Brownie's saying about when you get down like that, you've just got to go.And then also to sight save a game.

15:06

How much did you get into that at Geelong?

15:08

Oh, well, I think to me, other than once your fundamentals are set, that the scenario training is the most important part of football training. And what I love most about North Melbourne, you could see that the Gold Coast Suns with about 20 minutes to go were out on their feet. And what I love most about North Melbourne was LDU kicked that goal and they lost thecentre clearance that gave them a chance with a minute to go but they still had their system in check and it took a couple of great efforts from Wardlaw and Fino -Sullivan and these type of guys and then Sheazle gets the ball, spots Derzma but their system was still going so they trained the scenario and yet they knew they wanted to get the ball to the open side so players were already breaking before Gold Coast could even make the decision and that was the most impressive part of North Melbourne yesterday.

15:50

on is played to this point of 2026.It does Brownie.

16:52

I thought they were incredibly flat early before. They got the injuries.

16:56

Yeah, you could argue that as well.I mean, I reckon they would be flat having at that stage a 1 -9 scoreline being taken into the game.So losing to Richmond as they did, it's a disastrous outcome for everyone attached to that footy club and the people who need to make the decisions. With Brad Scott as coach now, one win only in the past calendar year of performance.Contracted for 2027, that needs to be part of the discussion, but there's a buy coming up at the end of that term.match and I would imagine this footy club as football clubs Do it would be discussing the entirety of this whole program surprise you if he went over the by David It's not gonna surprise me now No, no and given that they've now brought Craig buzzer would discuss this in the agenda section of the show later on But they've brought him back in to oversee the entire operations of the football department, how it looks from a professional perspective.

17:42

So there's a lot going on already behind the scenes.

18:11

This is just fundamentals.

18:38

What I loved about Richmond the other night was how they built it up like a final. So these young players aren't going to play finals, they're going to play huge games. But I thought their anger and their attack on the football and their attack on the player, particularly when they kicked goals and they gave it to the Bombers as well.I think it was Steely Green who was in the face of Mark Terry, he kicked the goal. Then Tom Lynch was asking what your number is. I just thought it was a great display from a young, precocious side. They're going to go places in a couple of years.

19:03

They're not going to play finals this year or probably next year. But I certainly loved the way they went about it.responded on the back of what Adam Uzay asked them to do.

19:10

They did, and Tom Lynch, he was the most important player on the ground.Stats might not show that he was the most important player.

19:37

to do better shape around stoppage, around contest, which what happens when you win the ball gives you more options to use it by hand.So these guys are all holding their lanes. They're not collapsing. They're not all coming in and trying to win the ball themselves. They're holding out. This one here, again, this is from CB, but this is slick hands.

19:54

They want to use the ball. They want to run. They want to carry. They want to go forward. That's been a huge shift. They want to take the game on.

20:01

They want to go forward at the game. The other one is from slow ball. They want to go corridor. They want to hit that kick as we showed with Luke Parker before. That's a risky kick, but execute it.and Normick comes off, they go down and kick a goal here.

20:12

But this is where I've been most impressed. This is the biggest change. You can't all collapse.Early in the season, every Carlton player would collapse.Three players holding outside space, outside width to get to the receivers, cut off the receivers, get the ball, get on that loose ball. That's been the biggest shift.

20:29

They're no longer so invested in the contested ball. They're also invested in those loose ball gets and holding a better shape and better balance on the outside.

20:36

Just on that Rory, they didn't score that much from clearance last night to your point. They scored and punished off turnover which is a different sort of game.

20:42

And that's the ones you've got to be able to do.You've got to be able to score from turnover and higher up the ground in your front half.

20:49

club. They had a really solid win against Western Bulldogs last week and then obviously last night against Port Adelaide and that man on screen there has now got those matches upcoming. Two before the bye and then GWS West Coast, Richmond after it.It's not apart from the Geelong assignment there, Lordo. The most daunting of matches upcoming.Look, he's not going to be getting this main permanent job

21:10

as Carlton coach. He's said that himself, Josh Fraser, and Graham Wright, I believe, will go down a different path, an equally untried path, but not the Josh Fraser one.But he's not doing himself any harm with what he's shown in the fortnight already.

21:21

He seems to have a Stephen King -like temperament, where he'd be, anyway, it's only early for him, but he's doing a fantastic job.Well, Josh Carr, they're just so hot and cold.Jekyll and Hyde, this is what Port Adelaide are.You don't know what you're going to get.And he's just one of those He didn't care.He just stopped.

21:37

You can see he probably hadn't planned to do it because there's line meetings going on, there's other blokes grabbing a drink and he has just got in the firing line. It's one of those ones you want to be ducking in a side door.

22:04

against the Saints and it's happening late in games at the moment, which is really impressive, the gears that the Dockers can go to.

22:10

And the confidence and belief they have, Nath.Like, you know, as I said, the Hawthorn was just destructive in the last quarter and this was destructive. This was brave from St Kilda. They lost all of their forward line pretty much Bar Shaman leading up to the game.So it was a pretty good fight by them. But I just love what Fremantle believe.

22:28

They go to the Gabba this week.So if they can go on and beat Brisbane at the Gabba, they are genuinely, I think, should be premiership favourites.if they can win against Brisbane this week.

22:37

There's a fascinating by play within the game that being Patrick Vos playing on Callum Wilkie and it got really physical and they both stood up and performed but then the by play reached off field as well.Ross Lyon you're about to hear in the halftime part of the game after he'd witnessed what had happened then Justin Longmuir and then Ross Lyon again post -match.

23:01

We're hoping the upper blow the whistle.I'm not sure why they let it go, but I think it's settled down.

23:07

Jamie Graham felt that if Vossi could get in behind him and own his back, that was the way to play him.And then clearly, I would imagine Kel wants to play from behind and then be able to read the play from there. So things happen, I guess.I didn't see any of the wrestling and that type of thing, but that was the instruction to Vossi and he executed it really well.

23:26

I mean, the upper was right there. So if they don't pay it, it must be within the laws and the spirit of the game.In the end, I think it'd become a non -issue.I thought it was a bit of a flaw show, but each to their own.

23:37

You understand why Ross has got an issue there, I think, Lord.Equally, you can understand why Justin Longmuir is so proud of what Patrick Vos is doing. He did a similar role against James Cicely a couple of weeks ago. He's hit the scoreboard again against Kyle Wilkie with three goals. He's playing his role within that forward line dynamic.

23:50

I think you've noted what you just said there. There should have been a few more free kicks to Wilkie because you can't just bare hug him and hold him off the ball like that. But you just admire how Vos has been given a job and he has just done it.I love it.

24:01

I love the fact that Freeman went down that angle.I can't believe that Ross Lyon, some of the players he's sent out over the years, He's complaining about that.Stevie Baker.I think Windhager does a little bit at the moment.Hugo Garcia at the start of the week.So I think Ross will be going, geez I'd love someone who can do that now.

24:16

But in another game, with another umpire, in another set of circumstances, you can see an umpire paying free kicks against the action. He's put it on the agenda and it was smart by Ross.

You need to pay one of those early and then that'll set the scene for the day.

24:27

Alright, it is time now for What Caught My Eye.And I'm first up today, Brownlee.King of comedy, Damo.I've noticed in my time in this TV caper there are a lot of shameless people in this industry.Oh, Damo. And none more shameless than your good self, Nick.

24:39

We at Shadow Nine have been fortunate this year to have a beautiful partnership with Hyundai.Oh, yes.And you, I know what you're about here. You are seizing, potentially.

24:49

James Soonus and the guys out there.

24:50

Yeah, we'll get to that in a moment. But this is you last week when you were trying to bed down this little private deal you're clearly wanting. You felt that was your card.

24:58

Very good people. So you can go ahead.there, have a look through the showroom. You can also go to Le Mans and do your shopping as well. There's so much to do out at Essendon Fields.Okay, enough of you angling for a new car.

25:26

I would love a palisade please.Where's Chomper's book?So where is he?I just don't know where he is.So we're going to find him.Get up off the couch.

26:03

Is he at the beach, Damo?He might be at the beach because we know he loves hand -feeding whales, don't we?There he is, hand -feeding the whales down at the beach.Or maybe he's in space.I don't know. He's a bit different, TJ.

26:13

But oh, there he is with Naomi Osaka's very own trophy. And we know he loves to exercise. He's not overly good at sports, so he's got to get a little better. There he is on the other side of the tent.Hey, poor TJ's falling over again.

26:24

So where is TJ?Oh very good Rory.Well I was tuning in to footy classified day on Tuesday night and Herdy just gave me a little drive -by.

26:34

I think they're not always great with their fashion as we will see. Some of the ex -hawks really, really, really not great with their fashion.

26:41

Here we see Isaac Smith this week at Australian Fashion Week in Sydney. You look good there. But I want to know, what is he wearing?Did he parachute in there or something?

26:51

Well I reckon Herdy was a little bit jealous there.I was pretty happy with my walk. You had reason to be.But not as uncomfortable as this.Let's have a look at our guy.Blanos put the green on today.

27:24

Everyone's about the green.I see you love that.

27:27

Now sometimes it's just stories you just go, you know what, I don't think that should make the rundown.I mean this is from Tommy Morris during the week.

27:34

What we can tell you tonight of the agenda setters is that the umpires are running a trial in the back half of the year for half a dozen or so games to wear shorter socks and at the end of the year they will make a decision whether to have long socks forever or whether to have short socks forever.

27:54

Now, I think he knew from when he was starting that I shouldn't have gone.He knew he had no support from the panel.

28:00

I lost that from mediocre because I said, where's the Tom Morris? And they said, nah, it's been used somewhere else.

As that drive -by on our man, I don't know why you're laughing, don't I?

28:09

I think that is the worst story since you last said this.assuming two salad rolls, half a muesli bar and a can of Coke.

28:46

That was great.Scotty Penderbury, he deserved everything he got, Scotty Penderbury. But there's been talk about he's made it about himself.I don't think he has because somebody else has made it about themselves. So let's have a look at Pendles walking in.This is him walking in.

29:01

Now, Matty Lloyd, look at him walking in.This is Matty Lloyd. This is the jumper, takes off the gold number 10.Lordo takes his off. Then Scotty Pendlebury, starts well, playing some pretty good football. There's Scotty Camp, now you've got the Lorto Camp, just on Lorto.

29:20

Fortunately, Scotty went after a young player, went after a second year player, the same as Lorto.Have a look at Lorto here when he played, he went after the young players. This is two weeks, he continues to go after players.Have a look at Lorto.Scotty doesn't make it about himself. He's on the outside here.

29:39

Guess who makes it about themselves in the middle?

29:42

Look at me!

29:53

Welcome back to the Sunday Footy Show.It was a big win for the Cats against the Swans yesterday down at the Catterham being good enough to join us by Jack Henry. He was very good again yesterday.Jack, welcome to the Sunday Footy Show.

30:11

Hey guys, how are you?

30:12

Yeah, good mate.As Damo pointed out at the start of the program, you continue to beat the best in the business and another one knocked off yesterday.

30:20

Yeah, it was a good win.Sort of the end of a good month for us really. They're such a good team, the Swans this year especially. It's a nice scalp to take, so all the boys are pretty happy.

30:33

Yeah, there's the scorecard there.Jeremy Cameron 3, your brothers kicked 2 -2, Brad Post 2 -1, Holmes, Humphreys and Smith all had plenty of the footy. And Amati, great return for him, kicking 4 goals.this season?

30:55

Yeah, I think so.It doesn't feel like we're relying too heavily on individuals. And, um, yeah, even though, like the stars are doing well, as you can see in the spreadsheet there, but, um.Yeah, no, we're going really well.Have a nice even spread. So, yeah, the boys are doing well.

31:12

Even though you're always seen to be preliminary final or grand finalists each year, it just must give you great confidence what you've done the last couple of weeks. You know, you've had a couple of bad games this year against Gold Coast and Port, but to take down Brisbane and Sydney the last two weeks must do wonders for your confidence.

31:28

Yeah, it does actually.Yeah, I think, yeah, last week was good, just an away win against Brisbane. That's just, you know, was a pretty crucial one because we have a pretty tough fixture and getting those wins and this one as well last night, they're pretty big to help set up the season. So, yeah, it's really good.

31:45

And as you said, Jack, all your stars are in ripping form.Max Holmes, outstanding again, Bailey Smith, but Max in particular, he's so versatile. You can have him play through the midfield, you can push him back. We've seen him half forward at times. He's a pretty handy player to play with.

32:00

Yeah, Holmes, he's a star, so you can't have him anywhere, really.Yeah.

32:11

I think he's a star at midfield, to be honest. The way he moves is incredible.I think for us, having the ability to play, he plays in different positions and play around to help.the team in any sort of particular week is a huge trade, so him being able to do that for us is just massive. But yeah, he's probably a midfielder.

32:33

Jack, you've been able to watch Lawson Humphreys come into the system in the past three seasons. He's yet to play 50 games, but you've had, obviously, a close associationwith him in that back line.He stood up in last year's grand final and he's taking new leaps even this year. His game yesterday was quite outstanding, wasn't it?

32:49

Oh, it was incredible.Yeah, Laws, he's up and about. He's just designed our Indigenous jumper, and I think he likes to turn it on a little bit in the Sir Doug Nicholls round.Yeah, he loves playing for this jumper.Again, last night, the way he works off half -back and attacks really well off half -back into the forward line is pretty good, yeah. He's just going to get better and better.

33:16

Yeah, it's awesome when you kind of see these guys come through.Him and Conor O'Sullivan in particular, that younger kind of crew.

33:25

Yeah, it's awesome to watch them develop.Yeah, Jack, I don't want to hold you up.You look like you're busy at the moment, but I did want to ask about Oshane Mullen.Yoshi, he's playing some crucial roles at the moment.I heard Nick Watson speak the other day that he's the most difficult player he's played on, but he went to Heaney yesterday, did a brilliant job, but he's also really good offensively as well.

33:46

Yeah, he's gone really well, Osh.I think we're trying to reward him a little bit on the offensive end, because, like, you know, every week he's just gonna, you know, take that best match up and really do a good job for the team. So, yeah, it's nice when you can sort of see him link up in the offensive chain as well, because he's very capable of that.Yeah, he's again similar to sort of lost and he's just going to get better and better. And yeah, such a good player for the team, such a good asset.

34:19

Brodie Grundy's put his hand out for all Australians so far this season, probably the premier Ruckman in the competition, but you went with three Ruckman against him yesterday. They ran him into the ground and I thought you got the job done at the end of the day.

34:30

Yeah, for sure.Yeah, I think that's probably something we'd like to do.is when we do have those, you know, really good ruckmen in, like we like kind of work them over with a few of the guys. So, yeah. No, it's pretty, yeah, it's nice that we can kind of have that ability to put a few guys, spin a few guys through there and yeah.make it hard for those star ruffmen.

34:56

Yeah, pretty handy to have so many versatile players to be able to run through there, mate.Hey, in my time, I think one of the best assistant coaches I've ever had is James Raleigh, and he's been touted as maybe an option for a senior coach gig, maybe at Carlton or if one pops up.You've spent a bit of time up forward this year. How do you see Raleigh?Do you think he could be a senior coach one day?

35:16

Yeah, I reckon Raleigh's going to be a senior coach. He's very clear in his messaging and Yeah, the boys all love him and, yeah, I definitely think he's got that ability as much as I would hate to see him go from the Cats. But, yeah, I'm very sure he could be a coach.

35:31

And, Jack, before I do the votes, do you have to just be ready for anything when you turn up on a Monday or Tuesday and what role you could play because you're so good at either end?

35:40

Sort of, yeah.I think I pretty much found out I was going to be forward pretty late last week.I think it was on the Friday, to be honest. So, yeah, I'm pretty easy with where I play.Yeah like to say I'm similar to sort of an Osh or whoever just who can just you know do what's best for the team and wherever that lies on the field I don't really mind so yeah no it's good.

36:05

So the boats thought it was dominant by Geelong and very even too so I've got Humphreys, Holmes, Cameron and Bailey Smith all with eight.

36:14

Yeah, and the prize read for coming on, a family pass, Nate, to Victorious Wildest Theme Park.So they've gone by a world, they've got the Quokkas, you take their family down there, you love that, and then you hit the HitFit membership, combine bodyweight and boxing for full body workout. And then you get the Travis Matthew apparel.Absolutely brilliant gear.Wear that when I'm playing golf.Hitting my Callaway sticks as well.

36:37

And we know how much Rory loves his Callaway sticks.Beautiful cover drive when he's getting up there to the tee box.Barfridges Australia, they're back. They're doing things bigger and better this year.Aquila, got them on today.Comfy as you get.

36:51

A pair of Rick's eyewear.Tommy Sheridan doing something of his best work there and pumping them up.And this is my favourite, Platform 28.Mark O 'Reilly doing great things down there. You throw in the Glenferry Hotel as well.Put on your St. Goliath gear.

37:06

Men's streetwear, but Brownie, you wear these every day.

37:10

These are your favourite.

37:11

Extra sewn into the yard so you don't chafe.

37:13

Yeah, oh yeah, you need that.My thighs have never touched, but yours have.

37:21

Hey Jack, we appreciate you giving up your time on a Sunday morning.I know it was a late call up today but you jumped on the phone and you've been fantastic.Good luck for the rest of the season. Thanks Barry, thanks guys.

38:00

different roles as well.

38:01

They're the most versatile team in the competition, aren't they, Joel?

38:03

Alright, time to head to a break. The MCG was the place to be yesterday.Scotty Penderbury, 4 -3 -3.That's up next.hear what he has to say.And also Cooper Trembath, the kangaroo doing some great things.

38:25

So, really good show.My man, Felix von Hoff, as the host, doing a fantastic job.Players, as you see there, Monday night after footy classified.Get into that. That's some good stuff.Good to see Sam Darcy and Cody Wade.

38:37

And Cooper Trembath as well.Okay, it was all about Scotty Penderbury at the MCG yesterday, but they still had to win a game of football. And Nick Dacos, he was outstanding, but it was Scotty Penderbury's day.

38:47

It was, and you would have been so proud as a Collingwood fan sitting there and watched that whole show unfold.I mean, West Coast put up a fight as well and made the game interesting, but as you mentioned, Nick Dacos, there's no bigger player in big games, is there, Isaac?

39:01

Nah, there's not.And if you're sitting at home in the couch, just sit back and marvel at this bit of vision that we're going to see of Nick Dacos. One, centre bounce, clean out of there. Two, centre bounce, clean again. He's got young Derzma chasing him.Inside a contest.

39:17

At forward 50, he's able to find space and then here he just finds space in the middle of the ground where players can't find it.He is as good as there is in the competition.

39:25

Has he elevated his game again this year, Lord?Well I thought, what I loved about yesterday, his kicking hasn't been amazing this year. He's been good but he hasn't kicked it as well, whereas to see some of the clips there, that was exquisite.

39:36

Can I ask you a question? If you were Tazzy in two years time, would you rather Nick Dacos or Harley Reid?

39:44

Daykos because of the maturity and the leadership side of it.I think Harley's still got a way to go in that regard. But I think Nick is the package.

39:52

Isaac?I'd take Reid.I just like that the club could grow with him.So Daykos to me, he's a Collingwood player. He's solidified his career. We know what he is there.

40:01

And it'd sort of be like going to get Gary Ablett, what Gold Coast did.If I was Tassie, I'd take Reid and just try and grow with him.

40:07

Big call.Big call.Darcy Cameron?Darcy Cameron, yeah, what an important player. He's the best and fairest winner of last year, won the Copeland Trophy and the way they award that Copeland Trophy is pretty very muchrole -based and they love what he does from a role perspective.

In all seriousness, they have changed the way that the votes will be given in 2026.Very different to how history has voted on the Copeland Trophy. And I think it's the right call.

40:58

How do you think they split it up three ways?Does Nick get more out of that? How do they do that?I'll leave that to you.

41:05

It doesn't matter anyway because Nick was clearly best on ground. He'll win their best and fairest this year anyway. So here you've got my nine.Darcy Cameron did poll some votes.Bailey Williams has been interesting too.His last couple of weeks have been outstanding and I thought Chris was very good through the midfield.

41:19

Alright, it is official.A once in a generation record. In a moment that is going to live forever in football history.Scotty Penderbury, the VFL AFL's all -time games record holder. The most games played in the history of the game. The most disposals and the most tackles.

41:33

Add to that two premierships, a Norm Smith medal, five Copeland trophies, six All -Australian selections and an assistant coach to Matthew Lloyd.through additions honouring one of the greatest careers football has ever seen.So don't miss out.Secure your gold ten today by visiting officialmemorabilia .com .au.

41:59

Just off the top of your head, how much do you reckon all of them are worth?

42:03

Just that jumper or the day?

42:04

Just anything.

42:05

Everything?Everything.I reckon the AFL should have paid him a million dollars for yesterday.I like that idea. Why?Because they sold an extra 50 ,000 tickets at the MCG.

42:15

The amount of memorabilia, the amount of coverage the AFL, every football show has got off Scott Panderbury, the career he's had, they will make by far more than a million dollars off yesterday and I just think he should have gone into Dills' office and said it's a million, I won't take anything more.Just walked in.I want to see it in the account on Monday.

42:32

This isn't going to happen with Scotty so please buy up.Kepler Bradley, my former teammate, he came in as proud as Punch Holding and Matty Hayden, breaking the record for the most runs in a test innings. So he'd come in that happy, two weeks later Brian Lara topped it.

42:48

So his investment was gone two weeks later.

42:53

Deep dive and it's going to look back at a famous preliminary final, Brownie.

42:59

Okay, let's get into that.Straight up after the break, you're watching the Sunday Footy Show.

43:09

This morning's Deep Dive, we're going to look back at the 2004 preliminary final between Port Adelaide and the St Kilda Football Club at Football Park. And just to set up this game, Port Adelaide had only lost one game at Footy Park and that was a showdown to Rory's Adelaide Crows. An average margin of 56 points, they'd won all of those games by on average and they'd also belted the Cats by 55 points in the qualifying final. So it was a big game and St Kilda jumped out of the blocks in the first quarter of this prelim and it was that man, the G -Train.who was just electric in this period. He was the most powerful forward in the game.

43:43

He kicks the first goal, gets St Kilda underway.and he needed two goals for his 100 and this is the G -train when they had all the momentum going back and kicking his 100 and you hear Tim Lane in the commentary say I don't think this is going to help St Kilda Day because they've got all the momentum but there is St Kilda fans going to enjoy the moment.

44:01

And then that momentum stopped when he was forced from the ground with the help of security guards.Lordo he has famously spoken about going to take a toilet breakopportunity within that. You can see the crowd on the game.Stevie Baker's old man was in there. He was out there doing some celebrations as well.

44:18

Look they regrouped okay and again It didn't affect Gary Glordo because he then kicked three more goals beyond that point before halftime. At halftime he'd had five in the game for 103 for the season. Now he didn't score a goal after halftime but he went into that final series in immense form.He kicked six the previous week in a semi -final against Sydney. So he had 11 in the six quarters leading into halftime of this particular game and here is one of those five that he did kick in that first half.

44:50

You say momentum, it definitely changed because Gary kicked over and then I think Paul came out and kicked the next couple and got a roll on and then it was Tredders, the port captain that stood after. He's a superstar. He's a superstar, yeah.Superstar of the competition this time and Max Hutchson just... losing some body at that point.I wonder if he was the best matchup for him at that time.Max was definitely a float in, third man style, come in from the side, but Tretters with no body on him was just...

45:14

A genuine star Tretters, wasn't he?Yeah, absolute star. And he was in the air, on the ground. He was unbelievable.

45:19

And he himself had a big year on the scoreboard in this particular as well.He got 81 on the season.

45:24

81 for the year and he kicked three this game as well. One in each of the first three quarters.

45:27

And he just willed them to what will be a win in this report on this game board. In a season in which they'd come off three years of underperforming in finals.

46:04

break.Absolutely.You were a Saints man growing up, Rory.I was listening to this game on the radio.I had my nan's, I think it was 70th or 75th or something. My old man and I kept ducking out to listen to this game.

46:15

We couldn't believe it.Saints, they had a good enough team to win a flag in this era.

46:20

They did, Rory, but they didn't win it in the end.The amazing thing about this game, Lordo, was at any of the breaks it was no more than a goal.Five points was the biggest margin. Is this not the best final quarter of football Nelly played? It was unbelievable. So here we get a Gavin Wengernean goal, talking about absolute superstars.

46:40

He was a superstar of the competition.Absolutely love watching him play and he was just pure. And then we've got a Nick Riewoldt snap coming up here on the right peg.just to edge St Kilda in front there and then this is what I loved when I watched Port Adelaide.Stuart Jew breaking, kicking a goal from outside 50 and didn't he like kicking goals in big finals and he did it on grand final day for another club but there wasn't many bigger than that goal. Then Dean Brogan gets a free kick and a set shot here.

47:13

Not sure that the free kick was there but they paid it and he kicked the goal.Saints fans would have been up in arms. Then we get Nick Riewoldt, another mark Set, shot on goal. There's a bit of space in this final quarter, isn't there? It's beautiful leading, beautiful skills, beautiful fundamentals, Rory. But then here's the moment.

47:32

Loop ball.He makes it.

47:34

Former panellist here.

47:35

Former panellist, yeah. And then when it came off the boot, I don't reckon he would have been overly confident. And then there was a bit of Wadzi Akram outswing on the right -hander.Ends up going straight through the middle of the goal. And it's now a draw, Dave. It's level.

47:47

It is level and you need superstars to set up when it is level. And Gavin Wanganeen, he was just one of the biggest out there. So this is 88 apiece, 6 minutes 58 to go.And Gavin Wanganeen, 45 out near the boundary.

48:24

He kicks that goal and there's some final nervous moments. There's about two or three minutes to go and Burgoyne.Watch this bit of play from Burgoyne. This is Sean Burgoyne. So the ball goes over the top.Desperation Brent Guerra didn't have the rug at this stage but he tries to get it.

48:41

So then it goes out of bounds and it's just staying in the St Kilda forward line for a period of time.We watch this one again, the desperation.Did he take his legs, Ludo? No, I think it's okay, this one.And then obviously it went down the line, we just see here.Emotional scenes, Port Adelaide have choked a fair bit over their time.

49:03

Yeah, in the previous three seasons of finals and high ladder finishes after a home and away season.

49:07

And there's Damo's mate saluting in victory.Didn't see him in any of those highlights but there he is.But there it is, hard breakfast in Kilda and one of the great preliminary finals.

in the agenda day, mate?Well we've got Owen Leonard of Channel 9 actually, Brownie, catching and touching base with Darcy Moore and also Jamie Elliott on their way to scans this morning. So that's up next on the Sunday Footy Show.

49:50

Yeah, we had an interesting chat then one night, didn't we?Yeah we did.Well James got through that little throat issue he had last week.I was going to put that on mediocre but it wasn't allowed.

50:06

Wonder why.

50:07

He was ill mate.

50:10

Pretty serious issue there Brownie. We'll deal with some other serious issues too.We spoke at length off the top of our show today.Injuries sustained by Collingwood players Darcy Moore and Jamie Elliott yesterday against West Coast at the MCG.Owen Leonard of Channel 9 News has this morning caught up with both players on their way into scans.

50:29

It's definitely frustrating. You put a lot of work in.You probably put three times as much work in when you're injured than when you're healthy. So it's been a lot of work, but there's still a lot of season to go.So I'm still feeling positive. No, not yet.

50:42

I just had scans in, so we'll probably find out a little bit later today.Yeah, don't really know yet.Yeah, it's a little bit tender now.Pain relief wore off pretty quick last night. So I think pain's a good thing.

50:55

So we'll see.I just feel the entire industry is hoping that Jamie Elliott does get a good result there from what looked a really serious left knee injury yesterday. He's had a history of injury problems, as has Will Day, is he?And I raise that because he's now been back for one game through the VFL on this particular weekend. His latest setback has been a continuation of shoulder problems, which he's had previously. And as we know, he's missed the 2024 and 2025 final series with serious feet issues as well as shoulder problems.

51:23

But now that he's got one game back, albeit in the Back to AFL next week.

51:30

Well you could easily bring him in, it all depends on how they want to ease him in.Hawthorne you just want to keep winning games if you will day and they just want to have him firing for September because he is a player that can genuinely be the difference in big games and big moments. He's their smoothest mover, best user, maybe smartest footballer through the midfield.as well. You just don't want to see him go down again.A bit like Jamie Elliott, but it's great for Hawks fans to see Will Day up and going.

51:58

And big -name players playing in the lesser leagues. It happened to the great Tex Walker yesterday. Also Rory, forced to go through the sand full as he initially was recovering from hamstring injuries and then ultimately being left out of the Crows team.

52:11

He was unbelievable.Watch this.He installed a little trampoline on Glenelg Footy Overland.Look at him.I was right in front on the hill over there with the kids.It was an unbelievable scene at Glenelg Footy Overland.

52:21

How many there?Four to five thousand there.Kids everywhere.Adelaide Crows, normally they get well and truly outnumbered at Sand Hill. But they're all there to see the Texans.Did they panic playing Rolly Filford?

52:32

I'll probably touch on where the Crows are at shortly. But yes, I think they did.And Tex has been the most informed out of the tools.Like Fogarty, Thilthorpe.Tex has been the most informed out of the whole season. So I found it interesting he was left out.

52:45

But I suppose I'd rather talk about Tex's attitude going into that game. And he could easily have been salty. And we've seen, Tex and myself, we've seen plenty of guys leave our club a bit salty with how they've been managed late in their careers.Who?So you had McLeod and Edwards that left probably a bit disgruntled. They're much loved people at our footy club and we're trying to get them back involved now.

53:04

But the way Tex handled it was perfect. He went back there with a great attitude, he was excited to help the young kids out and then to put on a show like that in front of so many fans, I thought it was just a really good moment for the footy club and for Tex.

53:17

You covered the North Melbourne Gold Coast game at Marvel Stadium yesterday for Triple M and I know you've got some views on umpiring, so too does Sons coach Damian Hardwick.

53:26

I've said this before, the game of AFL is the hardest game in the world to umpire. If you go back to 1984, I'll challenge you to do this, go and have a look at the rule book then compared to the rule back now.Good luck. We've got four umpires and every person's interpretation, mine and yours will differ, mine and yours will differ. It's very, very tough. So, end of the day.

Don't look at the umpires, let's look at the rulebook and let's figure out what that looks like.

54:18

game of football, but it's just getting more and more difficult now with all the little details, all the little decisions they've got to make.I made a comment yesterday that I want to see the big forwards be big forwards and the big defenders be big defenders and launch at the football without a little stray arm or something or then Ruckman so going at it because they're the big boys you want to see it it's just getting difficult.

54:41

And that comes off the back of was it Luke Beveridge say they should do a review bringing the Peter Jackson type to try and scale this back because he just feels it's getting out of control.

54:49

All right well done Damo plenty more still to come on the Sunday footy show we're going to look at North Big Win against the Gold Coast Suns and I had to go upstairs before and re -record some media ochre stuff so a little bit of legal work up there Lordo but we're all above board.now.Mediocre is coming up after the break.

55:31

players to watch at the moment for me is George Wardlaw. His last quarter was incredible. He had 13 touches, two clearances, five scoring involvements but nothingyou're just a general punter, you're sitting back on the couch and watching this man play footy, you'd be going, he shows grit, he's tough, he's courageous. He just plays the game the right way in my eyes.He played like you did.

55:50

Well yeah, and it's the way I love watching footballers play. It's tough, it's old school. And for him to have that sort of impact late in the game shows how good of a leader this kid is and the amount of upside that North still have.

56:00

But you're right with the history he's got with injury problems to step up in that last quarter of that game.just further testament to what he's going to become, isn't it?

56:07

It's unbelievable. He's a future leader in the weighting.

56:10

And it's those guys who have played around that.I don't know how many games he would have only probably played less than 50, whereas O'Sullivan's in the next wave where he's closer to that 100, 50 to 100.

56:20

So when you get guys like that, I'm not sure what this vision is. I think we've got some media connection.

56:58

It's great to see a player like that at North Melbourne, so let's have a look at the votes and see if he featured Brownie.LDU, I thought he was the best player on the ground.Christian Petrarca was certainly Gold Coast's best. And then Finn O'Sullivan, he was brilliant.I just loved the way he went about it.And you mentioned Wardlaw, he was unlucky not to slide in there as well, and Matty Rau.

57:16

I thought Connor O'Sullivan was stiff not to get in there as well.OK, let's head over to Port Adelaide, taking on the Blues. And they were very, very good last night, Carlton. And too little and too few, Port Adelaide.

57:25

Yeah, and that's for the Port's fourth loss in a row.Carlton have been outstanding. They look like they're playing with some freedom. And in particular, their midfield and their leaders at the moment.Harry, Mackay, Paddy Krebs, Plankett.a lot more freedom and sparks.

57:37

So their mids are outstanding and one guy, George Hewitt, has been a lead since he has been left out of the side.

57:42

Can we explain to the people at home what it does when a coach gets moved on and why you said freedom a number of times. Why couldn't they do this with Voss?

57:50

Because there's so much external pressure and pressure internally of winning games and results on games.I think that pressure is then flowing over to on field as in their leaders.feel like they've got to do everything to win the game.

58:02

So would it have been that some weren't playing for Voss as part of it?

58:05

No, I don't think so.I think they were trying almost too hard to win a game of footy where you want the win -loss out of your mind completely. You want to play with that freedom and play with that flair and if you're so focused on the result of the game you can't do that.So I think having a new coach at the helm has certainly freed them up.Votes, absolutely.Paddy Cripps was outstanding but he wasn't best on because Jason Horne -Francis.

Yeah, he's the lead.He had 30 -odd touches, kicked three goals.Jagger -Smith is one of his better games I've seen for the last month and Sammy Walsh continues to have a ripping season. He'd be leading their BNF at the moment.

58:38

Alright, well there were some suggestions during the week with me being host there mightn't be enough time for mediocre but I rolled up the sleeves and I got one anyway.Scott Penderbury's record -breaking game had some fascinating coincidences as the man himself pointed out.

58:50

Do you know what the margin was?10 points, mate.Had to be, didn't it?4 plus 3 plus 3.10.

58:59

Pendle superfan Jay Clark decided to copy his hero's homework.I enjoyed that, but what number is he, Kath?Number 10.How much did that win by?10 points.Hey!

59:10

Add up.4 plus 3 plus 3.

59:19

There were no excuses for incidents lost on Friday or were there?

59:24

So we'll judge them really harshly against those sides they should be beating and there's no excuses not to beat.an underman Richmond side tonight.Albeit, there was a couple of excuses for Essendon.

59:35

We all know my love of a broken leg, but this was a bit much.

59:38

Here's a good story as well.He was part of the tackle with Sam Butler that snapped both bones.in Sam Butler's leg years ago.In that contest, part of the broken bone of Butler penetrated the shin of Edward's leg and he got an infection that kept him out for a while.Sorry if you're late dinner, but that's one of the reasons why his introduction to AFL footy was delayed.Just give him some warning next time.

1:00:06

Sorry.

1:00:08

Dale Thomas showed off his comedic chops on Friday night.

1:00:11

Short, D -rods, heart rates ever got as high as that.Gallon pies, we just saw then. Why on?Reported that it took him an hour and a half to watch 60 minutes.

1:00:21

But his follow -up act fell a little short.See what happens through that.I like what I see.Yeah, yeah.I looked at that vision during the week and I was ringing Richmond mates going, this is the guy.We need this guy.

1:00:32

You've got to stop winning.

1:00:35

We have the very best of the best.

1:00:37

This is the guy.We need this guy. You've got to stop winning.

1:00:43

Glenn McFarlane is a great print journalist, but his TV craft needs a little work.

1:00:48

So what are your memories? We'll speak about Scott in a moment, but the media build -up nowhere near when you were breaking the record.

Oh, not really, no.It was just...We've had After Dark, Lordo, and No Shame, Nath, but Midnight Midge...You're going to f*** up now....almost went one better on Thursday when Jack Gunston gave him some issues.Well, that's the thing.

1:01:08

And the other question was, do you wait, you know, another week to keep Blake Hardwicke and keep **** and Frist. So, um, that'll be the story.

1:01:15

Sorry. You get a little tongue tied there.

1:01:18

Sorry. The, uh, I was just going to produce.

1:01:20

Luke Hodge.I'm Nathan Brown.And that'sPoker.

1:01:55

Playing for Glen Chico Tosto Brownie from Nolamara in WA.

1:01:59

Dane Campbell from West Footscray, Victoria.Sue Lewis, Nariwarrin North, Victoria.

1:02:04

And Scott Caney, Maribyrnong, Victoria.

1:02:06

Alright, let's get straight into it.It is all about Scott Pendlebury.Who else?Question number one.Pendles wore what number in his...Still making 115.

1:02:14

First season, he is correct.16.If you don't win this about Pendles, I'd be very surprised. In 2014, who did Pendles succeed as the Collingwood captain? No relation.Maxwell?

1:02:24

It was Nick Maxwell in...

1:02:25

No, that was me.

1:03:01

No relation.Did Gary Abbott Jr. win it?Incorrect.Negative one.It was a team play.

1:03:08

Dane Swan.

1:03:09

Dane Swan is right.Famous Faces for two points.Name the five players to play 400.Still making hundreds and fifties.

1:03:16

I wrote this down.Tuck, Bartlett, Harvey, Burgoyne.and Fletcher.

1:03:21

Yep, well done.I wrote it down because he knew the question.

1:03:25

I'll go Anthony Rocker.Anthony Rocker, big pebbles.Closest to the pin, so you start with you Isaac.Dale Thomas, career goals.

1:03:40

203.

1:03:41

I'll go 130.305.

1:03:46

186.Lordo, it was 155 is the closest.Famous faces, Daisy and Pendles went at 2 and 5 in the 205 draft.Who went pick number one at Carlton? No relation.Mark Murphy.

1:03:59

Mark Murphy is right.I'll take our man Daisy.Take our man Daisy in the middle, plus one. Thanks Daisy.Alright, Pendles famously sported dreadlocks in the 2011 season.Name two players who have also worn dreadlocks in the AFL.

1:04:15

Spider Everett.Spider Everett is one.

1:04:18

I didn't even have him on my sheet.

1:04:20

No relation.

1:04:24

His brother, Andreas Everett.

1:04:27

He did too.Well done, I like that.So Dale Thomas, Favola, Chance Bateman, a former teammate of yours, Ben Nason, Chris Tarrant and Courtney Johns.Okay, if you added up 4 plus 3 plus 3 and multiplied that by Scottie Pettigrew's number...

1:04:42

You get 100.

1:04:43

You get 100 day most famous faces last time.

1:04:45

Okay, let us go with...Whispering Nick Dacos, please.Top row.

1:04:53

You get the run -on demo.Okay, 30 seconds starts now. What teammate has Pendles played the most games with?Let's go with Jack Crisp.Incorrect, still side -bottom, negative one.Who was Pendles first coach in the AFL?

1:05:06

His first coach was Mick Malthouse.Correct.What pick did Pendles go in the 2005 draft?Five.Pendles was a strong junior prospectin what sport?

1:05:15

Basketball.Correct.Daisy wore what number when playing alongside Pendles?Thirteen. He did, okay.

1:05:23

Alright, what's the score here?

1:05:25

Dame 0 -4, Porto 2, Isaac 2.You should have seen him adjust then, he just gripped the seat.I'm a Premiership player and I'm a Premiership teammate of Scott's for 5 points. For 4 points, I played in the 2010 AFL Grand Final. No relation.Nick Maxwell.

Incorrect.I was a cult hero at my time in Collingwood for my eyes.

1:05:51

You're quite funny David.Possumise.But I forget his name. What's his name?I can't think of his name.

1:06:02

Anyone?It's Brace Shaw's nickname.It was.It says Triple M gave him the nickname Possumise.This is disrespectful.It is actually.

1:06:10

This is your only chance Lordo.

1:06:12

I can't buzz him out.

1:06:13

I can draw it with the next clue though.

1:06:17

I've gone through all the kids.I am, Alan, Who did you win for?

1:06:26

Did I win?Yep.Okay, so that means Glenn Chico Tosto from Nolamara in WA.

1:06:32

Glenn, 250 bucks coming your way.Apologies to Alan Tooby and the rest of his extended family as well that we couldn't get your name out there. But if you want to join in, there is the code on the screen right now.Still plenty more to come on the Sunday Footy Show.

1:06:53

We'll look at Hawthorne v The Adelaide Crows on Thursday night.this year, Rory?I'm saying no.

1:07:06

Yeah, not at the moment. But I'm a firm believer they can be.But they have to tidy up a couple of key areas really quickly. And for me, they need to figure out what their best mix is at the moment.I don't think they know what their best mix is.You've got an All -Australian ruck and forward in Roly Filthorpe last year, who's a bit out of form.

1:07:22

And they end up playing him as a midfielder and run him in good minutes through the midfield.I mean, you've got Dan Curtin, Dawson, Berry. You've got enough mids you can play through there.I think when you're out of form, you've got to simplify the game for players.Play him as a forward.Play him as a ruck.

1:07:36

Pinch hit in the ruck.He can follow up and get a look in there.Because essentially what happens there when he comes inside is you've got Toby Murray who plays a head of Tex Walker down forward. And Toby Murray's been in good form but... is not Tex Walken. We saw what Tex can do on the weekend. So they missed him.

1:07:50

They're missing a couple of tricks at the moment.

1:08:16

in big games if you don't trust them now and find out and maybe get a couple of touch -ups for the longer view.

1:08:46

And that's been well documented, not given the extra handball or the handball to break a line.So they have some work to do, but they've got the nucleus for a team to be able to play final still.

1:08:55

You mentioned Ollie Thilthorpe. They took him out of the team the week before with the back injury being the reason, just to give him a rest.Did they panic, though, in bringing him back just one week later, when they hadthe luxury of giving him another week off and then a bye?

1:09:10

But he didn't look any better?

1:09:10

Well no, I think he was just played out of position and just couldn't quite get a look in and I would have loved to have shown you some footage of the higher forwards getting in his way and getting in Fogarty's way at the moment because there's not a lot of space for him to move inside forward 50 but like Tex has been the most informed tall forward out of him, Fogarty and Filthorpe at the moment, he's been the most informed and to not play him on the weekend and to lose a close game where you may have needed a little bit of leadership out there...Didn't make sense.Nah, it just didn't quite make sense, especially when you played Riley in the ruck and as a midfielder.

1:09:39

The other game was Fremantle and St Kilda.Fremantle now top of the ladder, they've won 10 in a row on Ask.Who is your premiership favourite right now?

1:09:49

And where do they sit?or not the doggies can they get some numbers back but they've got five probably genuine games they've got to go after in the back half of the season.

1:10:22

And they're two games clear Damo now of third so to just try and get that home final.

1:10:26

They've done the hardest of hard yards haven't they?It doesn't mean they then naturally guarantee themselves that top spot Lorto but they've done the hardest of hard yards.

1:10:46

wouldn't have voted. And those votes, of course, brought to you by Essendon Hyundai and the brand new Hyundai Alexio EVs.Oh, look at your team out there! for the 26th play -in day.

1:11:26

That will be the last thing you need to do by then.

1:11:52

West Australia's southwest region is one of the world's hotspots.Hike along forest trails that hug the stunning coastline, take an Aboriginal bush tucker tour, or feel the thrill of canoeing or skydiving.Relax on some of the world's best beaches.Journey through more than 150 wine producers and 100 cellar doors where the forest meets the ocean. And it's all, this is the great part, only two and a half hours drive south of Perth. So westernaustralia .

1:12:18

com, have a look at that. That is some amazing coastal scenery in Western Australia and we thank you for them being on board.Okay, there's some Sunday games coming up and with us as always is Jess Webster.

1:12:28

G'day Brownie.A couple of really interesting Sunday games coming up for us this afternoon. We're going to start with GWS taking on Brisbane.A crunch game I feel for the Giants. They're coming to this one with a 4 -6 record up against the defending premier Brisbane who obviously are coming off a loss against Geelong last week.Lordos are really interested to see what did Brisbane take out of their loss last week and what do they need to fix coming up against the Giants today?

1:12:51

They've got a lot of proud players and they're a proud club and it's a big game for them as well. You're right, coming up against the Giants today? They're coming through him. They're lowering their eyes through him, Damo.

1:13:22

You'd be mad if you don't continue that trend and take him out.

1:13:25

Spot on.And then we're watching Vision of Jasper Fletcher, who probably had the worst game of his AFL career.I reckon he had minimum four, up to five goals kicked on him by close to the first one and manner. So I love the Lions.I know you do, Jess. You love them, supporting them.

1:13:40

But I expect them to bounce back hard because they have been a little bit down this year.

1:13:43

Yep, absolutely. And then we've got Western Bulldogs and the Melbourne Demons. The Dogs have made five changes to this game.Law comes back in, which is really great to see.But Izzy, what do the Ds do with Harris and Petty?Where is he going to play?

1:13:55

Is he going to go back up forward this week, do you think?

1:13:57

Well, I think you try and stretch Western Bulldogs forward of the ball.Their defence is the one part of the ground that is probably their weakness, the Bulldogs. And Petty last week, he kicked three goals against the Hawks and he was a dominant force up there. But the beauty for Stephen King, especially at the moment, Sloane, is he's got multiple players that he can throw in multiple positions. And to me, it's the story of the year, the Daemons.

1:14:19

Yeah, you said stretch the Dogs back line. It'll be interesting, I'll touch on the Dogs midfield mix and rucks in a sec, because where does Rory Lobb play to?Does he stay down back or is he where we're going to see him in the ruck against Maxi Gaughan, which is going to be a huge task too.But yeah, the Dees, geez, they've been outstanding.

1:14:33

Similar to Harris -Andrews, because his picket's been tagged the last two weeks, hasn't had much of an influence, the Dees have been able to win.Do you go after him again, although the Dogs don't normally have a tagger?

1:14:43

Well, I think the beauty for the Demons at the moment is they're winning through different sources, and they've got that young midfield you might touch on in a second, but Uh oh.just I just love what the demons are doing and they're playing selfless footy, they're playing aggressive football and just so different to what we saw last year.

1:14:58

And two sides in different stages of the season.Dees are flying and the dogs unfortunately have got a few injury concerns.Roy, who are you putting under the pump this week?

1:15:15

And this week it's going to be the Bulldogs midfield group. He's going to be extremely under the pump, especially with Max Gaughan being in such great form.Who are they going to ruck?So Max Gaughan's been in all Australian form.Does Rory Lobb come in again?Does he ruck?

1:15:29

I'm looking at Western Bulldogs mids. You've got Bond, who's been in good form.We can't always rely on Bond.

1:15:33

He's banged up though. He's banged up.

1:15:34

And Ed Richards draws back in.Frazier, where's Frazier at at the moment?I would bring in Riley West.Riley West, I think they're missing Tom Liberatore at the moment through that midfield group.Riley West.Drafted as a midfielder.

1:15:45

As a midfielder.I know he can play it.He's an in and under type.I think they just need a little bit of grunt work from someone like that to come in and just change up that mix a little bit at the moment.

1:15:53

Can they win a game though with guys like Lewis Emmett and Lobb and that against Max Gawne? Is it possible?

1:15:58

Well if the Demons continue to play the way they've been playing the last month, there's no chance they'll win.The thing that Luke Beveridge will do though is he'll mix it up.He'll throw some different looks at Stephen King and they'll have to make some decisions.

1:16:09

Sometimes when you're up against a dominant ruck it actually makes the job a little bit easier for you.You know you're not going to get much hand on it so your whole job and your sole job is just to read the opposition rucks tap and that can become a bit easier for you.

1:16:20

Thank you, Jess.As always, Damo, one job you have all week. And that's the kids love animal fact. But I believe there is no animal fact.

1:16:27

The match selectors, Brownie, as in people higher up above than me, have made the decision to manage the segment out of today's show like Scotty Pettigrew.

1:16:38

We normally finish off your segment.Yeah, I've been waiting for it.And we've still got the handball to come, Brownie.

1:16:43

There's a highlight for this show. One job, Damo.

1:16:44

I want to see yours.

1:16:45

There's a lot of animals out there. He's very disappointed. He turned 100.That's how disappointed he is.Welcome back to the Sunday Footy Show.Time for everybody's favourite segment, Louie's Handball.

Isaac, been a good show, hasn't it?What's been your favourite part?Your hosting, mate.Unbelievable, yeah.Okay, a couple of young guns in here today.Wiggs, obviously, for the Essendon Football Club, and Zayn Dersmal.

1:17:11

Welcome, boys.Thank you.Massive win for your footy club yesterday.

1:17:17

Yeah, it was.It was terrific. It was great to be a part of.The boys really dug in and it was a great game.Great game to play in.

1:17:23

And playing the big role yourself in that dying moment of it.The kick to Luke Davies Jr.Gould, did that make you feel?

1:17:30

I was on Cloud 9, I reckon. It was amazing.I still can't believe that space opened up for LBU in the end, but nah, he was in the right spot and I ended up hitting him, so it was good.

1:17:42

And the best win of your career, would you say?

1:17:44

Yeah, it's definitely up there. That one and the Carlton one earlier this year.

1:17:48

Did you have the belief that you guys could come, score next and didn't have to score right then and then, but you could score next and just slowly chip away at the league?

1:17:57

Yeah, that was pretty much it.chip away at them and it came really strong in that last quarter when we put on a few goals.Peppering them late in that last quarter was the goal and we did it well.

1:18:09

Archer, a tough night Friday night.First of all, all the injuries. How are all the boys that got injured?

1:18:13

Yeah, they've gone alright.I think Pidge has gone in for surgery over the next couple of days.Archie May had some sore ribs after the game, he went to hospital, but other than that, I think we're in pretty good stead, we're not too bad.Yeah, tough night Friday night, but word on the street is mate, that you've played with every Durzmer brother.I have, yep, I have, that's a good fun fact.

1:18:31

Which one's the best then?

1:18:32

Oh, jeez, that's hard.I think they've all got their own, they've all got their own strengths.Zabes are most courageous.Willem's the most talented.Who's the best looking?

1:18:46

Let's get him on a runway. You want to talk about your own runway?

1:18:51

You're segwaying to yourself again.

1:18:54

So the boys got together yesterday, had a quick catch up.We'll wait until you get your review on the way tomorrow. But how was the catch up yesterday?

1:19:00

Yeah, it was good. It's just about connecting. We've all got the same outlook and where we want to be and what the future holds for us.We've got a good young group and we'll bounce back.

1:19:10

How are you holding up personally?I know you're a young player coming through in your career, but the emotions of bottom of the ladder, one win over now across the calendar year. How has it been for you personally?

It's been fine.I'm playing AFL footy.I'm living out my dream.I missed the draft.I went in the rookie draft. It's been pretty unbelievable.

1:19:31

The win against Melbourne, Gather M, was unreal.I think we needed that and hopefully there's more to come.

1:19:35

Darcy Parish, 41 touches, got the best on ground award, the Iukin Award. There was booze going around.Did you discuss that with the boys?

1:19:41

Not really, to be honest.Couldn't really hear it through the mic, but yeah, it's disappointing. He's a great player and he deserved the award.

1:19:47

With your win yesterday, was it raised at all the Darwin trip? Was it raised at all, OK, we can get these blokes to be in Darwin for two weeks, it's been spoken about by Harvard?

1:19:56

It was touched on, but that wasn't really the focus. It was more our ball movement and how we defend.I think that was more the go for how we were going to beat the Suns in the end.

1:20:06

And I was coached by Clarke for a decade, half -time.I'm not sure he would have been too happy.

1:20:11

I don't think he was too impressed at half -time.There wasn't really a spray. It was more of a demanding speech. Is there one question you could ask without bringing it back to yourself?

1:20:24

Where do you end up?Do you want to be a midfielder?

1:20:29

I think just finding out that balance in the next year or so will be the goal.I'd love to attend a few centre bounces later in my career as I get a bit bigger, a bit stronger, a bit fitter. But yeah, that's probably where I'm going to stay for the minute.

1:20:45

You're chasing Dustin Fletcher for the best prize pack in the business. He's on 84 at the moment. This is what you're playing for.It is the best prize pack in the business, Isaac.

1:20:53

It is, Browning. There's a bit of pressure on this because you normally do it.But we've got the temper mattress.Astronauts use them. And you know who else uses them?Jack, our producer, he's got a really long neck.

1:21:03

And he's been having some tough sleep.

1:21:05

The pillows go really well.

1:21:06

It goes into zero G. It does, unbelievable.

1:21:08

The neck goes up as well, Isaac. And it goes down as well. You sleep well, Rory.It must come down. You sleep well, and what do you do, Rory? You use the Callaway Quantums and have a good look ahead to play some great golf for the next day.

1:21:22

So, get out on the golf course after a great sleep. This is the end of year prize. There's no better prize pack in the game.

1:21:28

The Callaway Quantums and also So do you know the yellow ball story? What's the yellow ball story? So double points. So you can use that one of your ten and you get double points. You can use it at any time.Who wants to go first?

Let's go, come on.Yeah, good start, solid start.

1:22:15

Ooh, here's a bit of pepper.Strong, huh?21.

1:22:26

1:22:36

50.57.

1:22:42

Okay, 64.So if you get this one in, you're even with Dustin Fletcher.Ball back.

1:23:05

52.Give yourself a chance.

1:23:15

79.And Dane Durstma goes equal with Dustin Fletcher.

1:23:20

I'm not sure what happens if there's a draw at the end.

1:23:22
