Carney DELIVERS BRUTAL Response After Trump Attacks Canada Again
The results of our strategy are encouraging. Our exports to countries other than the United States are up sharply. They're on track to double over the course of the next decade. In one year, we have signed 56 agreements on critical minerals with more than 10 countries because they know the world needs reliable partners in a dangerous world. The good news for you is I'm going to have one page of my speech because it is now emerging. We have secured over, the bad news is I remember it, as you know, our closest defence cooperation.
I'll give you the example of NORAD, and also put this in context of enormous investments that we're making in NORAD, over $40 billion that we're making in NORAD.But we will also be cooperating with other partners.and diversify our defense cooperation as we should as a member of NATO.We're focused on our future. We're focused on what we can control in a world that sometimes feels out of control.
Today, standing in the rain in Quebec, Mark Carney delivered the clearest messages about the future of Canada without Trump and Trump's never -ending lies. While Donald Trump's administration continues escalating pressure against Canada through tariffs, defense disputes, and economic intimidation tactics, Carney stood there calmly laying out something completely different.A Canada that is moving forward without dependence on the United States.A Canada building new global partnerships.A Canada expanding trade around the world.a Canada becoming an energy, mining, defense, and critical minerals powerhouse, and a Canada refusing to let Trump's chaos dictate its future anymore.
The weather may have been gloomy today, but politically, this was one of the most confident and aggressive speeches we have seen yet from Mark Carney.Because underneath the graphite mine announcement was a much bigger message.Canada is no longer waiting for Washington's approval. And after yesterday's latest attack from the Trump administration, where Washington falsely accused Canada of not doing enough on defense before pausing cooperation talks, Carney came prepared. He did not dodge.
He did not soften the language. And he did not back down.Instead, he directly exposed the contradictions and the frustration now boiling inside Trump's administration as Canada keeps succeeding without surrendering to American pressure. And tonight, we are going to break down why this rainy press conference in Quebec may have been one of the most important political moments yet in Canada's growing separation from Trump's America. And if you want deep analysis on Mark Carney, Donald Trump, Canada -U .S.
tensions, trade wars, and the major geopolitical transformation reshaping Canada right now, make sure to subscribe to Canada Today.
Just getting back to the U .S.Undersecretary of War's announcement yesterday, their pausing participation in this National Defense Board. To your knowledge, when was the last time Canadian and American officials at this board met?And how dramatic do you think this pause could be on mutual defense cooperation between the two countries?
Well, first thing, the last time, to my knowledge, is the end of 2024.So it hasn't met. It's supposed to meetbiannually, but it hasn't met since then.I wouldn't overplay, I mean, it has a long heritage, but I wouldn't overplay the importance of this.We have many aspects of very close defense cooperation with the United States, as you know, our closest defense cooperation.
I'll give you the example of NORAD.And also put this in context of enormous investments that we're making in NORAD, over $40 billion that we're making in NORAD.One of the first announcements I made as Prime Minister was over $6 .5 billion in what's called over -the -horizon radar in Nunavut, which helps protect in hypersonic missiles and others.Investments that we're making to β well, I could go on and on.But since the minister is here and we have more of you, I will stop there. There's lots of cooperation.
We will continue to do so.But we will also be cooperating with other partners and diversifying our defense cooperation, as we should as a member of NATO.
This may have been the most important part of the entire press conference, because Mark Carney directly dismantled the narrative coming out of Washington. The Trump administration tried portraying Canada as weak on defense, tried portraying Canada as unreliable, and tried justifying their latest escalation by claiming Ottawa was not doing enough. But Carney calmly walked through the facts.Billions invested into NORAD.Billions invested into Arctic defense.Major new radar systems in Nunavut.
Massive increases in military spending. And Canada now surpassing NATO's defense benchmark. In other words, the facts completely collapse Washington's narrative. And honestly, that's the truth.this so politically damaging for Trump, because every new attack against Canada increasingly looks less like legitimate policy disagreement, and more like frustration that Canada refused to submit politically under Mark Carney. That is the real story now.
Trump's administration expected pressure tactics to force Canada back into line.Instead, Carney used the pressure to justify making Canada stronger, more independent, and more globally connected than before. And today, standing in the rain in Quebec, he openly told the world, Canada will continue cooperating with the United States where necessary, but Canada will also diversify defense partnerships globally as we should. That single line says everything about where this relationship is heading.
The results of our strategy are encouraging. Our exports to countries other than the United States are up sharply. They're on track to double over the course of the next decade.Foreign investment in Canada is at its highest level in two decades. It's running twice the rate of other G7 countries, including the U .S.
Countries around the world are investing in Canada.AirAsia just announced the largest single order of the Canadian -designed aircraft in history.Canada and Quebec was there.Last week, Canada was ranked the most attractive market for infrastructure investment in the world, and we're just getting started. We're getting our resources from mine to market at an unprecedented pace.In one year, we have signed 56 agreements on critical minerals with more than 10 countries because
know the world needs reliable partners in a dangerous world. And we know that entrepreneurs such as those gathered here today need predictability in the age of uncertainty. These agreements will unlock over $18 billion of critical mineral projects in Canada, creating good careers for our workers and our builders.
What Mark Carney laid out here was not just an economic update. It was a roadmap for a completely different Canada, and the numbers he presented were staggering.Exports outside the United States rising sharply, foreign investment hitting the highest levels in two decades, critical mineral agreements signed with more than 10 countries, major infrastructure partnerships across five continents, and Canada now being viewed internationally as one of the most stable and reliable economic partners in the world.Think about how dramatic this shift really is.Donald Trump's entire pressure campaign against Canada was built around one assumption, that Canada had nowhere else to go.But Carney is now systematically proving the opposite.
Instead of isolating Canada, Trump's pressure tactics may have accelerated one of the biggest economic diversification strategies in modern Canadian history. And honestly, That may be the part frustrating Washington the most right now, because the more pressure Trump applies, the faster Canada appears to be reducing its dependence on the United States. That is a massive geopolitical shift, and Carney clearly knows exactly what he is doing.

Get started freeThe good news for you is I'm going to have one page of my speech because it is now emerging. We have secured over, the bad news is I remember it, we've secured more than 20 economic and security partnerships across five continents in the past year. We've referred 22 projects including Nouveau Mont Graphique to our major projects office because it is time to build. We're focused on our future. We're focused on what we can control in a world that sometimes feels out of control. We're catalyzing across Canada a trillion dollars of investment, from aerospace to artificial intelligence.
Last week, we announced our new electricity strategy, which will double our grid to supply clean, reliable, and affordable power for all.You know, two weeks ago, The head of the International Energy Agency stated that Canada had a once -in -a -lifetime opportunity because we are a stable and reliable partner in a world that's anything but.We can supply the minerals and the energies to countries that are battered by fears for their supply chains. The window's short. That window will close. So that's why we're seizing it today.
This is a mine that's expected to generate nearly $2 billion for the economy, create 1 ,000 skilled careers from skilled trades to engineering. It will ramp up annual production to over 106 ,000 tons of natural graphite over 25 years. That is eight times, eight times Canada's total graphite production right now.It will make us stronger. It will make our international partners more resilient. And above all that, it will build supply chain.
Honestly, this moment may have told Canadians more about Mark Carney than any polishedspeech ever could.Standing there in the rain, losing pages of his speech to the weather, joking with reporters and continuing almost effortlessly anyway, it made him look comfortable, confident, and completely unfazed by the chaos around him.And then came the announcement itself.A massive graphite mine expected to generate nearly $2 billion for the economy, create thousands of skilled jobs, and multiply Canada's graphite production dramatically. But again, this was about much more than one mine.
Graphite is critical for batteries, defense technologies, electric vehicles, energy systems, and the future global economy itself. And Carney understands something many leaders still do not fully grasp.Countries that control critical minerals will hold enormous strategic power in the decades ahead. That is why Canada is moving aggressively right now.Because while Washington remains consumed by tariffs, political fights, and pressure campaigns, Canada is quietly positioning itself at the center of the industries that will define the future global economy, and today's announcement was another major step in that direction.Today's press conference was supposed to be about a graphite mine, but it became something much bigger.
It became another major statement about where Canada is heading under Mark Carney.A more independent Canada.a more globally connected Canada, a Canada investing in defense, energy, mining, infrastructure, and strategic industries at record speed, and most importantly, a Canadano longer allowing itself to be politically cornered by Donald Trump's America. That is why the frustration coming from Trump increasingly feels so obvious.Because Trump's pressure campaign was supposed to weaken Canada, instead it appears to have accelerated Canada's transformation.
And while Trump continues escalating tensions, tariffs and political attacks, Carney keeps responding with investment, diversification, global partnerships, and long -term strategy. That contrast matters, because increasingly, Canada looks like a country preparing seriously for the future, while Trump increasingly looks trapped, reacting emotionally to losing influence over its closest ally. And standing there in the rain today, Mark Carney looked completely ready for that future. If you enjoyed this breakdown, make sure to subscribe to Canada Today for more deep analysis on Mark Carney, Donald Trump, Canada -U .S.relations, trade wars, critical minerals, geopolitics, and the major transformation reshaping Canada right now.
