Welcome to NRL 360, rugby league from every angle.Joining me again, the great Gordon Tullis.Let's bring the journos in, Paul Crawley and Dave Riccio. And massive news today, Fox NKO secure rights until 2034 in the richest deal ever.

0:27

Gordie?I think it's great for all partners. It's great for the for obviously us, congratulations on your new seven -year deal.I think it's fantastic, so nothing changes for our fans. They can turn on whatever station they're used to and still watch our amazing game and everybody's going to win out of it.I think it's absolutely fantastic.

0:44

It's fantastic. You don't realise how lucky you are to have the innovation and the access to the players and the game as we've got today through Fox.When we were younger, Gordy, we're of similar age. There was one game on ABC, there was one delayed game on Free to Wear and that was it.Fox Sports over the years has changed everything.

1:06

And it just continues to get better. The only way you got to meet players was with a footy card.Seriously, you'd go to the shop and buy it.

1:14

It really is a monumental day for the game.credit to everyone involved, clearly the broadcasters, but so too Andrew Abdo and Peter Valandi, showcasing again why they are arguably the best one to act in Australian sport.

1:29

And if you talk about technology and evolution, you just mentioned it Krulz, right here on Fox League, that's the place to be.So it's exciting for us, we're really happy about it, looking forward to the next seven years beyond next year. Now Peter Vellandi's announced the historic deal today, which will see every NRL Premiership game on Fox League and KO for the next eight years.

1:49

Good morning everyone.Normally these press announcements are bad news, but today they're very good news. We're about to announce the highest ever media broadcastdeal in Australian sports history. For a seven year period, we'll be getting $5 .3 billion in media rights. It hasn't been an accident.

2:09

This has been achieved by some very hard work.In the past five years, we have changed the game, effectively doubling the audience. There's been a structural change in the way fans consume the product. So streaming will be, you know, in the next few years, the main way that people are going to consume the product.Accordingly, DAZN has invested in that structural change. The majority of money has come from DAZN because that's the way the structural change of TV is happening and that'll be the same for sports right around the world, it's not only going to be in Australia.

2:42

We're talking about the 20th team, it could be in New Zealand, it could be in Queensland, but we've given an undertaking to DAZN that we will be looking at an extra team in 2029.So I really want to thank Patrick Delaney from DAZN, he has been exceptional through the whole deal.

2:59

Well it's a significant day for us, we've been partners with NRL for 30 years. When you add another seven, that's good. The deal's good for our customers. As the NRL grows and adds more games, we get more games, more exclusivity.Peter spoke about the pushing the game through the world. The zone is in 200 markets.

3:18

This is actually the fourth deal I've done with the NRL at every deal.People have said, oh my God, that's a lot of money. How will you afford it?How will you survive? And yet here we are thriving. You know, sports is the one thing everyone wants to watch.

3:35

This is a huge coup for PVL and ABDO as ABDO exits, securing the richest deal in Australian sports history.Unbelievable, Dave.

3:45

It is, it is.It's extraordinary and really interesting numbers around this. Now DAZN, key partners obviously.here and will be the broadcast rights holders for the next seven years, they have a hundred million subscribers to their app.Rugby League will be pushed out to those hundred million subscribers.Today Peter Valandi spoke about the game going global in a way that he will absolutely deliver it upon.

4:15

Rugby League will never be showcased to more eyeballs than what it will be in the next seven years.A lot of that's because of DeZone, right? That's what he was referencing.

4:23

Absolutely.

4:23

Because they've got so many subscribers.

4:24

They've got the network in Europe and they're overseas. That's right. So the game, Gordie, will...And they've always wanted...You talk about globalisation and Peter's spoken about this since he's been in the role and we've already seen that with Vegas and Global Round, which he mentioned today in the press conference as well. But this game, like, you know, everyone talks about viewership and numbers of games and content creators and you look at this deal and there's a reason for it.

4:56

It's the product.I always say if you landed from Mars now and you put all the sport in the World Cup soccer and all that's there.State of Origin Rugby League stands there with the best of the games and now the rest of the world is going to eventually see the product and every week the players turn out and I've had a design app for like a few years and the sports on that so it's absolutely fantastic.

5:15

A massive congratulations to Peter Villani, Andrew Abdo, Patrick Delaney and Steve Crawley as the NRL and Foxtel continue their partnership.

5:28

What's your why to go out and do that at a higher level right now? That's what you've got to do.Because that's what the game demands. It's important you understand why we play this game.

5:36

Hey guys! The harder you go on the pads, the better team we'll become.

5:41

Everywhere I went, Australia took over Las Vegas. Here we go!Episode of The Fan.

6:15

Welcome to NRL 316.Have you got any fresh news for us?You're welcome on our show any time.Rugby League was my calling. It just had the simple question, is everything alright?

6:24

We're at Suncorp Stadium for Magic Crown.Matty!Hey, Matty!Coachee!

6:35

Simon, push the big pole! Can we get now recharged? That is something from the best game in the world.

6:50

Someone else with the kid.The big thing.Always remember who you are and where you come from.

7:21

Let's cross live now to New South Wales camp where assistant coach Boyd Cortner joins us.Boyd, why are you confident the Blues can get the job done after last game's loss?

7:33

Yeah, look, it's do or die for us, especially coming up here to Queensland. What an opportunity. We've prepared well all week and it's been a frustrating start I guess.us in our footy with the start of the first two games.Yeah, I think we know that we're a lot better footy team than what we've been showing.Just with the team and how the preparation has gone all week, it's been a really good experience this Game 3 in the lead -up.

8:09

I'm ready to watch the boys go out tomorrow night.

8:13

I'm hearing good things out of camp.It sounds like you guys are really dialled in for this one.Is there a different feel to this camp compared to the others?

8:22

Yeah, I think so.I think, to be honest, given it being a decider, normally you come into game three and the week's been really tense, but the boys have been really relaxed, to be honest. They've been super clear, obviously, with with how we want to play our footy. We know where we need to be better and, you know, we've trained like that throughout the whole week.So it's been really good.Obviously a little bit of a hiccup there with Strangey a few days ago, but, you know, last couple of days he's trained really well.

8:51

So got a full fit, healthy team, great preparation, really clear on how we want to go about our business on Suncorp tomorrow night.

9:00

Hey, boy, it's Gordie.Tell us, mate, what's your memory from playing at Suncorp?Does it have to be addressed with the hostile crowd that you guys will be facing tomorrow night?

9:11

I don't think so.Obviously it's a hostile crowd and that's why Origins is so good. You love playing at home in front of your home fans, running out to that sea of blue.Like I touched on before, Origins is all about that hate and that rivalry. There's no better place to come and play when the crowd's against you.The boys have got to lean into that.

9:35

There's pressure wherever you go.Everyone's talking about Origins. So, you know, they've proven it the last couple of times they've come up here to play 2024 decider and then game one last year. So, you know, it's, yeah, I suppose that's given the group confidence that we can come up here and get the job done.

Boyd, Paul Crawley here, mate.A lot of talk about the use of the Blues bench in the first two games. As a coaching staff, how do you, Blake Sir, do you think you've got it wrong in game two and how do you rectify that now?

10:11

Yeah, look, there's been a lot of conversation around that, probably more so around the Appie change.Through that time, we had a player sent to the bin, so we had to fix our edges up first, and Strangey was still on the bench there, so we had to put him out into the centres to defend there, which cost Appie his game time, so there's been a lot of talk about that, but yeah, super clear.again on our game plan going up here, game three and the interchange.

10:44

Boy, Dave Riccio, two -pronged question.Firstly, how confident are you that Jack Bostock on Debu handles the occasion? And then secondly, Blake Braley, is the plan still the same from Origin One when you bring him into the game or will we see him get into the contest a little earlier?

11:03

Yeah, Jack's been great.Super confident kid and, you know, he's trained that way.He had a little taste last camp. We've coming in really late there, but he's trained really well and, you know, he's formed for the Dolphins. It's been unreal and what he can do out there on an edge and, you know, just talking to him and how excited he is and as a kid, you know, how much this jersey mean to him.I'm sure that he'll go out there and he'll put in a really good performance there and, um, Blake Braley, him coming back in, really gives us confidence.

11:35

dimension in and around the ruck, playing footy. So the plan will be similar there, depending on how the game goes with Robbo. But yeah, definitely to get Braley on and get him some action for sure.So I really thought that in game one when he come on, he really offered us a lot through the middle there and freed up our halves.

11:59

Another one that offers a lot off the bench, but there's a lot of talk that a lot of people would like him in the starting sides, Cam Murray, mate.Do you think there's any chance that he starts the game?

12:10

Yeah, look, I'm going to have to keep that tight lip.I won't give away too much there, but both world -class locks, and yeah, it's a really tough decision, that one, but that's all I'll say on that.

12:21

Good on you, Boydie.I appreciate you coming on, as per usual.Big game tomorrow night.Go and get it done for the Blues.Good luck, mate. Thanks, guys.

12:31

Still no clear on the starting team there for the Blues, whether Ken Murray will start or not.I suppose we'll need to wait till tomorrow night. But New South Wales, big game for them and we've spoken about it now for weeks. How do they beat Queensland, origin decider at Suncorp Stadium?

12:47

Well they've got a great football side. When you go through the New South Wales side it's full of champions, it's full of great players. It's 19 of the best players in the game.So of course they can go out and win the game. But, Braithwaite, what doesn't give us great confidence is the fact that they've been coached off the park. They've been coached off the park by Billy when it comes to selections, when it comes to the use of the bench.

13:13

We asked Boyd about it there. He referred to the fact that in Game 2, they had Cattoni, Stagg, Sinbinning, which made them put Ethan on instead of Appie. But a lot of people were talking about the fact they should have done it in the first half, you know what I mean?So I think that'sNSW have to get it right this time. For the Blues to win, the coaching staff have got to send them out with the right plan and the right bench rotation.

13:42

and the right starting team.

13:43

The big if is if they do get it right.Because to Crawley's point, my personal opinion is this is the best balanced team of the entire series. And I don't think we've spoke about the return of Steven Crichton who shores up that edge defence of which I thought was wanting at times in Game 2 for the Blues.I love the inclusion of Jack Bostock. That's why I asked Boyd Courtner about it, because the game is about aerial threats these days. And unfortunately, Brian Totle was shown up in games one and two.

14:19

Liam Martin brings the aggression that the Blues desperately need. And Blake Braley, obviously, he can just speed up the ruck.I hope he gets on sooner than the second half.

14:29

Yeah, I think you've just got to simplify the game plan.Just run in numbers and just think run.Even their forwards, just run as hard as they can, spot some players up.try and isolate some defenders, get some one -on -ones and try and win that ruck. That's what they've got to do.They win the ruck and then Robson can have a bit more joy out of dummy half and take him off after 25, bring Braley on.

14:48

But if they can win the ruck and if they can be dominant with field position and hold the ball, they've got the class players.I mean, they've got Cleary, they've got Moses, Tedesco and the likes and they do have more strike power on the edges. And as you said, Stephen Crichton's a big game player. He's a big moments player. He's done it at Origin, he's done it for a couple of years.for Penrith winning premierships and before probably he had that kind of off period this year, he was and has been the best defensive centre in the game.

15:15

So again, we are relying on them being at their best. That's the unknown for supporters, for Blues supporters. If you go on a form, we're in deep, you know what. But if wegoing off, you know, if they can find that game plan, the coaching coach does his job and uses his bench how he should, and they aim up, we're a dead set big chance.

15:35

The other thing too, Brafe, is that Queensland's spine has worked together like magic this series, whereas the Blues' spine, like, Teddy and Cleary have never really worked at origin.Moses and Cleary hasn't worked.Robson at dummy half hasn't been a threat at all.Our four most important players, in my opinion, have not aimed up.

16:01

But they would have had 30 training sessions together now.Moses didn't play for six weeks coming into the series. So that was probably a mistake in hindsight, like you would think. But NSW have had 60 really good minutes in a series. If they put 60 together, we're going to be up against it.Queensland have been able to hold on and win a few moments, but New South Wales were 60 minutes.

16:23

It was 20 in Game 1, but at half -time in Game 2, I'm thinking, here they are.

16:29

If they can start like they did in Game 2, and obviously play a lot better, they're going to be able to take more moments.

16:35

You said Reece Robson, 25 minutes, then bring Braley on.Boyd Cordner just then declared that they're going to stick to the same dummy half plan as Game 1.Blake Braley came on with about 28 minutes to go in Game 1.You certainly want him on earlier.

16:53

I do, I want him on earlier.I think Robson just lights out the first 25 goals as hard as he can.Like you said, he doesn't...His creativity... has, I thought, got to another level this year at the Chooks there, his combination with Tedesco, but we haven't seen that in Origen.Get through that first 25, get some fresh legs on.That's what I'll be doing.

17:12

Even 30, just say it's 30.He did say it'll depend on how Robbo's going, and a lot of it is dependent onway New South Wales are playing. And if they've got a lot of possession, then they might be likely to leave him on if they're scoring tries and they're dominating field position and possession. But if not, you might see him on there earlier. But there is a lot of pressure on Nathan and Mitch in this game.

17:37

Yes, they've had a lot more time now.Mitch is coming off the injury and clear he's arguably the best seven in the world. They need to win this game and they're both coming off losses and poor performances. Not just at Origen but at Clubland as well. How much pressure is on these two?

17:56

I think there's a lot of pressure.Mitchell, you spoke about it then Gordie, he was very average in Game 2 and then he came back and he was terrible for Parramatta in the one game and that's all we've seen of him. When people talk about Mitchell Moses being a champion player, yes he is, but we haven't really seen it this year. Can you think of one game this year where Mitchell Moses has stood out?I certainly can't.Nathan's had three bad games this year.

18:21

At times he's looked like he's taken his game to another level, but there was that game against the Bulldogs, there was Origin 2, and the game against the Cowboys. There is three shockers this year.I know that Gordon, but I'm saying it when they get up and they go after him.Nathan now has had more games in the Blues number seven jumper than any halfback in Blues history. He's 0 -3 in deciders. And he's 0 -3 in deciders.

18:47

We got asked in the mail bag last night, Is he under pressure if he loses this game with his spot?Given what we just mentioned there and yes he's the best halfback arguably in the world. What do you guys think?I don't think so.

19:02

I don't.I think Mitchell Moses is based on the fact that he's under pressure now from Ethan Strange. You could make a case for Ethan needing to start in this game. But I don't see that never happening.pressure of someone really applying pick me, pick me in Nathan's position. You can raise Isaiah Cattell but personally I don't believe he's at that level just yet and he'll probably get there.

19:27

But as far as being under pressure to lose his position as, he's the best halfback in the game.I don't see how he loses his jumper if he loses tomorrow night.

19:38

Definition of stupidity mate is just keep doing the same thing all the time, get the same result.Nathan has had enough time now in the blue jumper. You had your say, you had my say.He has had enough time now.He was brought through as a 20 year old, right? He was given time.

19:54

There was times early in his career where I don't think he deserved to have that jumper at that point. There was other blokes that probably deserved to go but the Blues gave, put faith in him and they knew that he was going to be our long -term halfback and they've given him ample time.to get it right. He is actually, Katoa now is at an older age than Nathan was when Nathan debuted. So if you're going to keep going into the 30s, Nathan has proven himself to be an absolute champion at club level, but he hasn't done it at origin level and I believe this is his moment.

20:26

This is his moment. You spoke about doing the same thing over and over again. They made the change, Ethan Strange started, they got the result crawls.

20:34

And then they ditched Ethan Strange and brought Moses back.So maybe it's not Nathan. This is what they've gone with now.And I do believe...So are you punting him off the back of the loss tomorrow? No, what I'm saying is that earlier this year when Nathan was in red hot form for the Panthers, we're saying he's taken his game to another level, right?

20:51

And he had it club land. But if he comes out and does the same thing next year and blows us off the park in the first 10 rounds of the competition, and then we get to Origen again and he doesn't lift, I don't think he was great Gordon for the Kangaroos last year.I don't think the Kangaroos clicked on that series.Yes, they won the Ashes 3 -0.right?But there was no stage in that series where I thought the kangaroos clicked.

21:15

And I just think at some point, mate, You have to move on.Well when's that point?Well I'm saying if they don't get it right this series, I would love to see New South Wales take a breath and give the young blokes a go going forward. And I'm talking Strange too.Strange should be playing now. After he's game one, he should have been in the starting side.

21:34

Don't disagree with that. It's a big game for Nathan.

21:37

Gordie and I were talking about it actually. We sort of thought when DCE got the chop, he lost three in a row.And we'll say, if he loses the series at Suncorp, I think he deserves the first game next year.Like DCE did.And that'll be three in a row if he loses the first game next year.I just think, he has earned the right.

21:59

It depends on how they, you know, hopefully they win tomorrow.I think it depends on how he plays and how the team performs. If they go out and do what they did in Game 2, you know what, who knows?Who knows? And who's to say, Isai, Katoa hasn't...You can't say he hasn't got it.

22:13

You don't know that.

22:14

Well, all I've seen here, the only closest thing to a representative game closest to origin is the Pacific Champs semi -final, which is for Isaiah, that's the highest he's been in his career.

22:25

And they got pumped by the Kiwis.I understand that, but you don't really know.Look at Sam Walker, a lot of people didn't think he had it.You don't really know, do you Gordie?

22:33

And you would have seen heaps of Queenslanders over the years.20 more games on anything. So for me I'd wait to see how they start next year.Obviously how this game pans out, right? So we're predicting a bit here but what Nathan Cleary's done I think is good enough. But if they do lose and Penrith start a little bit poorly next year and those three games turn into six...

22:52

They never start poorly. You know what I mean? You give it this false sense of security.

22:58

You can only judge on what you can judge, Krawl.

23:00

Exactly. And I'm judging him on his origin at the moment. And he was great in Game 1.in that second half.

23:06

Nathan deserves to be there. He deserves to be there tomorrow night. He deserves to probably get more, I think, even a shot next year again because he's that good of a player and he has the potential to be one of the best. But in saying that too, Just because you're a great club player doesn't always transition. And we've seen that over the years. How many times have we seen it?

23:28

So it's going to be a big call for NSW pending the result.Hopefully they don't have to worry about this. But pending the result tomorrow night. Now Sam Walker has been great.Do you think he'll deliver again Gordie?Yeah, absolutely.

23:40

Absolutely. Why?Well, because he loves the arena.I don't think he overthinks it.One of those guys that The next play is the most important, where you get guys that want to build a game and if it's not quite working, they build leg over leg.Not that he doesn't, but he's a bit like Cam Munster, where they don't carry their divots as much.

24:00

So I think that's really important in big games.

24:03

I think you've nailed it with him. It's sort of a theme of the Queensland Spine, isn't it?Munster's the same sort of player. He doesn't carry the divots.Pong is the same.Harry Grant.

24:16

They just come across as that group that just works. They work so well at this level. And Walker, you know, 24 years of age, just turned 24.And it's been absolutely seamless the way that he's arrived.I don't know what tackle that was on, but he's not afraid to try stuff.

24:34

I'm intrigued to see Sam's game tomorrow night.I'm intrigued. He's the one, out of any player on the field, that I'm just thinking, you know, he's exceeded all of our expectations, games one and two.He is a player that just plays what he sees in front of him and he's dangerous at all times, but I have seen at club land where he can lose it and kick it.I mean it was only a few months ago he kicked on play one, the next set he kicked on play two.His team was under pressure and all of a sudden the Roosters are scrambling and that's why they lack consistency, the Roosters.

25:09

And that's why they've held off his contract.

25:10

And that's right. And I'm looking at Sam thinking if he can go three games the way he's played, it's going to be monumental and he deserves it.But I'm also, I'm intrigued because As much as I think he probably will deliver tomorrow night, I think if I'm New South Wales, he's the man I'm targeting.

25:30

Is this why Hudson -Young went off early and thankfully someone said something finally in this Origin build -up about going after Sam.Possession was against the Blues in Game 1, they just didn't have the opportunity, they didn't have the ball to go at Sam.We clearly saw the way that the Maroons set up their defensive structure with Sam sitting on a wing. It's going to be difficult, but I do like the fact that Hudson said he's putting a target on Sam's head to go after him.Waiting for the third game.

25:59

He's just handled the moments though, hasn't he?When you think about it, even his kicking, you wonder how much that Billy takes credit for things too.Because that scrum play with that beautiful little ball to Hong were right. That's probably been practiced a hundred times in training. One of the teams over the weekend tried to use the same play. And it just didn't work.

26:20

Did you see that?I was in one of the games over the weekend. But picking Teddy out with the kicks and all that sort of stuff. He's been elite. He has these moments in his game but it's also As much off the top of the head it is, it's also the homework's gone into it.

26:34

I think we need a promo and we referenced him as the gambler.Gamblers don't always win.No, they don't.That's the thing. He rolls the dice. You know what I mean?

26:45

Hopefully he rolls ones tomorrow night.

26:47

It's a funny thing, this series, we spoke about it earlier, being a bit of a dead builder, but Jesus, it's crazy.be...

26:55

Once it's all out, one way or another, we're going to have eggs on our face for bashing up on New South Wales, or it continues.

27:03

Let's get to Care Murray, because we did ask Boyd Cordner if, well you did, if he would be starting or not, cards close to his chest, but from that, and again I'm no mind reader, but I kind of feel like maybe, I'm hoping that they will, but we've heard mail that they're not.

27:19

Have you guys heard anything at all?Only the latter.of what you just said, Brayton. They're going to stick with Isaiah at lock and Cam will stick on the bench.I don't mind the mind games from Boyd, though. It was good.

27:31

If Murray does start, does Yo...Well, this is his record. We showed this a few weeks ago. It's pretty incredible. When he has started...Or when Yo started at lock, there it is.

27:42

It's 12 -5 and then Murray started three times, three wins. So, just pick him.If Murray does start, are we playing Yo at front row or lock?

27:51

He's got to stay on the field. He's a great player.Isaiah, he's the Australian captain. If you're going to win, he's got to play a big game in the middle. What role he plays in the middle, I'm not too sure. But for NSW to win, Isaiah's got to be a big part of it in the middle.

28:09

a big impact in the way he plays and the style you'd want him playing.Of course.Off the bench, I think.I think you could start with the two starting tops.

28:18

This was him off the bench, Krul.

28:20

This was him off the bench. This is the best highlights package he's put together. And it was rung mentality, wasn't it, Braith? It was all these post -contact meters, straight up the guts, that game.

28:29

How should Martin Anolikuatu be used?Oh, you whine Liam up and just say, go hell for leather.Remembering he's had a slow start to his season and so he's probably only got that mentality in him, just go for broke, knowing that Hamali's there, ready to press go as well.So I think he'd probably get what 30 minutes and then it's Homoli's turn.

28:54

So how does the bench work if he gets 30 minutes though?Because you've got to get Braley on the field right?Cam Murray's got to get on the field.

29:01

Well there's three interchanges already.

29:02

So then you'd think one of the...Faneuil Blake's got to get on the field right? So there's three. So either Ethan Strange or Homoli Don't get a go at it.

29:12

Not necessarily if they push Isaiah up into the front row they may reserve Aden as the emergency front rower may not get on.And do you reckon that's fair?Is that fair?

29:21

Gordon, do you think...Not rotating front rowers?Yeah.

29:24

Well, if you push Isaiah into the front row.Well, they should be doing that from the start of the game.

29:30

Do you reckon you get through with just that though?Or do you reckon you need another big one?

29:34

That's why it's so circumstantial. You've got so many situations that can play out.It depends on where they think they need the most important player for that time.Like if Martin's killing it on the right edge, I can tell you now, they're not bringing him in.So Oluwakun Artoo, he may not get a start.

29:48

That's what I'm saying.I reckon it's either Strange or Homoli that don't get on.

29:55

Do you think Strange should get a start? But again, it just depends how the game changes. He should have started. He should of course. But he's named as number 18.

30:03

You guys have 16 interchanges already.

30:05

Stick around Judo's this Sunday.Join in on celebrations for Jai Arrow's birthday.Grab your tickets online or scan the QR code on screen to show your support.Welcome back, let's take a look at the ins and outs for this round. Thanks to Sportsbet for the Tigers.Luai back after the concussion.

30:34

Fisher -Harris and Halasema return for the Warriors.Preston, good news for the Bulldogs, returns on the bench.Tupou returns for the Roosters in his 300th game.Dufty at the top.for the Bunnies.Gray drops back to the bench.

30:48

Hughes, Meaney, Howarth are all back from injury for the Melbourne Storm. But Wayne drops Gray for Dufty. This is a big one.Thoughts on it?

30:56

I reckon it's probably a couple of different factors. He wasn't great last game.Stiles make fights.Cody's out.Dufty's a bit slicker.Probably they might think we've got to score more points against Newcastle.

31:13

I think it's probably all those things. This guy never ever doesn't give anything but a hundred percent. But he's not the, you know, he's not the silkiest fullback out there and maybe that's what I think the other bloke offers that he doesn't.Paul, you think that Cody's kick could cost him a new deal?I don't know if it will cost him a new deal.I think it should cost him a new deal.

31:33

He's 36 years of age, right? He's the captain of that team. They're in a crunch game against the champion team in Penrith who are missing all their guns. And this was just nearly the dumbest thing you've ever seen in your life, what he did.And it's just unacceptable.I know that he was, he apologised at the end of the game.

31:56

But he's cost his team, during the game, he cost them a try.He left them without a bloke. It set the tone for the match, I reckon, with Souths. And I just, where's he going to learn? When's it going to change? It's never going to change with this play.

Shouldn't their spin have nipped in the bud a long time ago?

32:15

100 % Dave.I was thinking about it today, I remember him standing there and arguing with Cooper Crook.Cooper Crook's been retired for about six or seven years, you know what I mean? It's been going on and on and on and on.So he sits there and apologises on the weekend, right? But you know, sure as hell, it's going to happen again.

32:34

But it's whether he wants to change and whether the leopard can change his spots, right? And it was happening at a timeI was getting old, right? When you get old, you do get a bit cranky, right? So I went and had to fight. But he's either got to go all the way, but this half pushing and half doing is not doing his team any favours.

32:51

Right? So it's either got to get out of his kit bag altogether and put the team first. And I've been that guy.

32:57

But is it ever going to happen, Gordon?Because it's been his whole career.Well, that's the coach. It's been forever. And I reckon with South Sydney...That's the coach, Gordie.

33:05

Yeah, the coach will tell him.He hates that.I know personally, Wayne hates ill -disciplined players. And he doesn't like them because you put yourself bigger and better than a team in front of the team.

33:18

How come Wayne, out of all coaches who's the greatest and has such a great relationship with players and they all love him, how come he hasn't been able to manage this?Don't know.

33:28

It's unusual isn't it?It is because those players Wayne normally gets his claws in.

33:33

He loves coaching Cody.Cody's silky skills and that's his 5 '8". That's the 5 '8".And he loves Luttrell in that. But when I look at this Rabideaux's team and you mark them up against Penrith last week.Penrith's discipline And South Sydney's lack of discipline is what makes South Sydney a mediocre team, I think, at the moment.I think that's what brings them down.

34:02

And it's consistently done it now for several years, and they've got to change this. And the only way to change it, I'm telling you now, is to change it.

34:12

Alright, massive game for the Tigers to kick off Round 19.Dave?

34:15

Oh, huge.Absolutely.And I thought they let their fans down terribly last weekend against St George -Illawarra.This is a club fighting to keep their finals chances alive and I just thought they were poor.I thought their attitude was poor.Benji spoke about how tactically they just played side -to -side footy, failed to play direct.

34:34

They looked lost at times in attack and arguably over the last two weeks, if it's not for Adam Dewey, it's basically no -one.Jerome Lewi returns to this team to tackle the Warriors at Campbelltown. If we don't see some type of fight, in this Tigers team, well I'll be stunned because they have to.They've got no other choice. They have to fight for everything this weekend and I just said how important Dewey is.It's now on Jerome Louis.

35:03

This is the million dollar man. He's been missing for a number of games this year.He still is contracted to this club for this season and next at least and this is the game where he is paid to stand up and deliver to keep these Tigers hopes alive.

35:21

Same thing I said about South. What lets the Tigers down is their discipline.Even Dewey. He hit someone high the other day.All those penalties, they just add up.They drop balls.

35:32

Blokes that get paid $400 ,000 or $500 ,000 a year and can't play the ball. All this sort of stuff that these teams That's what brings them down. And it did it to the Tigers in this game last week.

35:43

Yep, a lot of big pressure on the Tigers.A must -win game for them and they don't want to fall off a cliff at the back end of the season after having such a great start to the year.Thank you Crawls, thank you Dave.Up next we preview Origin with Craig Gower and Michael Ennis. And after us it's part two of Face to Face with Brett Kenney.

36:25

Blues cannot concede any more points. And Grant's away! They are going to get more!Could be it!Lindsay Collins!Harry Grant, left, Munster, Pogger, Tabu Afedo, Cobo's on his way!

The boy from Mergen!Get your tickets, we've got an orange and a cider!

36:48

Welcome back, those were our fast plays of the round, thanks to Aussie Broadband.Hello to Michael Ennis and Craig Gowen.Hi boys, how are we?Mick. Not many people giving the Blues a chance in this game. What's your thoughts on that?

37:01

It's uncharted territory for us, isn't it?We've got a massive opportunity ahead of us.We've got a responsibility to our state, first and foremost, and then I think the second thing is just it's about going up there and rattling their cage.Forever and a day it's been about not taking a backward step when you get that opportunity to play State of Origin, as you blokes know, and none more than our our coach and you know there's been a lot of noise obviously around him but in terms of what he did for our state and I go back to you know I know they celebrated 96 but there were moments like that as a young kid that inspired me and wanted to wear that jersey and if I'm Brett White and I'm Matt King then I'd be getting our blokes in a room tomorrow morning not the spine I'd let the spine focus on what they need to focus on and that's about articulating the win but the rest of the blokes would be in a room saying hey listen this bloke's lived it And it's up to us now. This is our opportunity to live it.And it's our opportunity to own our moment.

38:06

And make sure that one of you blokes in this room are showing the same ticket that he showed back in 96.Because that's what it's built on.

38:14

It's been a quiet build up for Queensland. Is there any chance of complacency there? Is that wishful thinking?

38:21

Yeah, I think it is. I think it is just for the fact that you've got business to do.as a coach and you've just seen the way that he goes about his business. He's very thorough in his preparation, the way he's got those Queenslanders to perform as he has over the last two games. But as Mick said, We've got a great opportunity to show what we're made of as a team, as a state, and that's why we need to get behind the boys to make sure that they can play their best football and hopefully they've had the right preparation that they need to, to perform on the big stage.

38:58

Nathan and Mitchell, you played in the halves. How hard is it to combine into 10 days with a half and run a side?

39:08

At the end of the day, you go out there and play your own game and I think that they can evolve with each other. You've just got to have one general and one general for me is Nathan. He's your half -back.He gets you around the paddock.Mitch has got to take a backward step in a way and let Nathan lead and he needs to exert himself into the game by his running game.Mitch is a great run of the ball, he picks a great short side and he's got a great kicking game but surely they can play in with each other because they've got the quality and the brainpower to do it.

39:55

running opportunities on your short sides or he would run that primary play and you'd be on that second receiver shape and I think that that's where we've got to get to with Nathan and Mitch. There's just the imbalance for us is we've struggled out of the backfield, Gary and I were talking about that before, we haven't done a good enough job you know making those mooters and yards out of the backfield and made a lot of errors particularly in that first game but then we've relied on Mitch's kicking game in that first gamethat second game, which then Nathan then retracted and fell out of the game at different stages. We can't afford to do that tomorrow.I think just Nathan's just completely got to step forward and own the contest, and Mitch has got to compliment him, not compete with him.

40:32

Is the conversation around Nathan warranted?

40:37

In terms of dominating origin?Absolutely not.If I was coaching New South Wales, and I'm sure you two would say the same, that you would sleep easy tonight knowing Nathan's your halfback.

40:50

Yeah, 100%.

40:52

It's as simple as that.

40:53

Is Moses, do you think he's fit enough?Do you reckon he's underdone or he's going to be okay for this one?I hope so, bro.

41:00

You looked at his performance on the weekend and it wasn't great. If I'm Laurie, I'm watching this game very closely that first 20 minutes to see how they interact as playmakers and see how he gets himself into the game. And defensively, I want to see him aim up.And if he doesn't, then he needs to pull the trigger and put Strange on there.Because at least then you know that you've got a guy that's going to come on there.Your running game is going to be direct.

41:24

And defensively, he's going to be all over it.

41:26

Mick, you've coached Ollie Kawatu. What would be your plan with him and Martin?

41:33

The first thing with Martin, I'll start with him, is Martin needs to rattle the Cajun monster. We've let the Queensland halves have it on their terms and that's not what this arena is about. You know that. You know that better than anyone. And the one thing that you can do with Cameron, and he's done it before Liam.is roughly him up.

And he's had too much time, particularly down that left -hand side, to dictate how he likes it.And I'd be up.I'd be able to have Martin off the leash tomorrow night at 1 .70pm.The other thing with Homoli is there's a moment with Homoli in the sheds, and I dare say it would have been very similar to you Gordie, where you don't need to say much, you just need to look at him.And he knows what he needs to do.And he knows that I think around that half an hour mark, that's when the destruction needs to start.

42:21

I'd let Martin.Martin clearly hasn't had the game fitness of that sort of 8 -10 week lead in.He's obviously been injured.I'd give him the first half an hour and then I'd just let a molly go.

42:31

Our solo performer, thanks to Solo by MYOB, is Sam Walker. How good's Sam Walker been, Gowie?

42:37

He's been very good. He's been very crafty about how he's gone about his business, especially his kicking game. And I just love the way he plays. It's off the cuff.He just plays what he sees. And that's helping Queensland in a way.

42:52

And it's hard to defend against. So, you know, I thought his kicking game His long kicking game wasn't that great in Game 2.So that's something that we can go after, like pressuring.Defensively we've got to be on there. But the short kicking game is dangerous.

43:08

Mick, I said it earlier to Krulz.I really think we've got to target him.Do you agree with that?

43:14

Definitely.I think, as I said, both halves have had it off too lightly. The way that we can go about that, one is his kicking game.I think the strength of New South Wales is our kicking game.Wherever the ball lands, we need to stay there and work over that channel. And that gives you a great opportunity to work over Munster or work over Sammy.

43:36

The thing with Sammy is, and I said at Magic Round when there was a lot of talk about Caelan Ponger being the halfback for Queensland, I said I'm not sure what they're waiting for.If he's not ready now, I don't know when he'll be.He's not going to get tougher, he wasn't going to get bigger.Just watching his game evolve over the last couple of years, and I know he had that ACL, but his return from that showed the intelligence of him and the risk -taker.The risk -taker is what scares me with Walker. With New South Wales, if we're conservative, he'll find holes in us.

44:05

We'll find vulnerabilities in us, and he's done that.

44:07

We've been too conservative.

44:08

We have been, and he's done that.been.And neither has Grant and they're the two blokes that we need to cut the head off the snake tomorrow night. And the three of those blokes, Grant, Munster and Walker are the ones that we've just simply got to make them work. We've got to bruise them.

44:24

What about Murray and Isaiah?

44:29

Braith's been very vocal about it and I agree.I said at the start I would have had Yo as a starting front row.I still think the influence he can have on the group as a leader.can still be done as a middle forward. And then the excellence and the leg speed of Murray and the ability to be able to unlock Nathan's game as that seven, I think absolutely. And then it also frees up your rotation.

44:55

Yeah, that's what we're talking about in the green room, is that if you have Yowie up front and Murray coming off into a lock forward, it gives you the option then, when are you going to play Braley? When are you going to play strange? And then are you going to use Faneuil Blake?Because then you've got O'Malley to come on as well. So, you know, there's five players that can play. And I think it opens your bench up a lot better to, you know, to sort of play what goes on in front of you.

45:26

You've got one less back row on the bench, right?100%.Murray moves into the side.

45:30

I think two of the most significant things for New South Wales tomorrow night is the start. One's Haas.I just think We can't just be looking for Haas to just do a job for us.I think Haas needs to be the enforcer in the sense, we've seen in time, only a couple of years ago, where he got hold of Tuna and called him on.I honestly think someone needs to rattle the cage tomorrow night and I mean that. That's where Origins has been built on that.

45:59

It's evolved for good reason, but tomorrow night's a different story.up there. You know, 40, 50 ,000 lunatics hanging by the fence, ready to try and make us uncomfortable.Well, if we sit back and let them intimidate us, then we're in for a long night. And I think Haas is the one that steps forward.Sorry, the other one's Braley, mate.

46:19

That's the most important interchange of the whole night. We need to fight fire with fire at the Ruck. And we got blown away there in that second half.I love Robson.I actually thought that we did him a disservice in Game 2 and we let him get to the point where he failed.I honestly believe that and I felt like afterwards in the post -mortem his spot became vulnerable because of the performance and how fatigued he was.

Half an hour.

46:46

20 minutes, get him on there.Because what it does, it frees up Nathan. So then your defenders around A and B obviously then they've got to worry about him.So it gives you that direction down the drain and I think that opens up Nathan's running game.

47:03

How do we win?How do the Blues win tomorrow night?

47:07

We've got to start fast, put the ball in the corners and play direct. We've got to play direct. No out the back crap, just let's get through them. And I think that's the antidote to winning this game.

47:18

You the same, Mick?Yeah, we just need to put them in uncomfortable positions and we need to win the back of the field.I think Cobbo and Fafuda and those blokes have outperformed us.And I think there's a hell of a job with our back three tomorrow night to make sure that we can put them in those positions.

47:33

How did Queensland beat us?Well, we've done it in game two.

47:40

Just cut and paste, that's it.

47:42

We worked really hard for each other. If you turned off the sound, there was more maroon jerseys in most of the pitches. You've got to win the moments. There's going to be some moments out there when both sides are dragging. The more moments you win, the more chance you put your team on the front foot.

47:58

Hey you Mick, hey you Gowie, see you next time.Up next Joel Cain and following us, it's face to face with Brett Canning.Welcome back, now it's time for an update from Sportsbet with the great Joel Cain.Joel, what have you got for us?

48:20

Well I noticed as we get closer to this game, you blokes are starting to shift apart here, the blue on their own.

48:24

You like it though, don't you?

48:25

Well what I do like is the fact that blues are outsiders Gordie, because you guys say we're outsiders.Do you know that almost 60 % of the outsiders the last 10 years have won? It's an outsider game.

48:37

That's because Queensland have been the outsiders for 60 % of those games.Correct.All the time.

48:43

Last five deciders, 1 -12.So if you're thinking that way now, my top three bets boys, I'm loving this, they're all on the feed.Number one, Nathan Cleary's done everything in the game except he hasn't won a Wally Lewis, hasn't won a Dallium.I think he gets both this year. This is the moment for him to take an outsider's side to Suncorp Stadium. It's his time.

49:01

Champions take it from him here. And you know who he'll be looking for?It won't be Tommy Jenkins, but he does that at club level, right? He just finds Tommy Jenkins wherever he's hiding on that field.Bang! He's going to send a missile his way.

49:13

Nathan Cleary. So he'll be looking for him.Look at this. He's on the other side of the field.Tommy Jenkins, right? And everyone's saying, oh, Bostock can't play on the left.

49:19

He's a right centre. He can't play on the left.Well, I can tell you now, he can play on the left.Look at this.Cody Nicarima.Go help yourself, Jackie boy.

49:26

And that's the target for Nathan Cleary.Number one, Bet Cleary.Number two, Bostock.Number three is going to be...Toya anytime try score you saw in Origin 1.He scores that try, that grubber off Sammy Walker.

Sammy's not stopped looking for him since he came back. This is Origin 1, thank you very much.Brings him up, scores against his own club fullback in Tedesco.Origin 2, it's a Brian Tottle hand that saves him from the same thing happening. So I'm throwing him in again boys.So this is all on the floor.

49:55

There's a big same game multi.Clear him out of the match.Bostock to score.Hamisa you can throw in there, but I want to throw Bobby Toya in, $47.is the price.

I think you're in the money, Joel.Enjoy State of Origin tomorrow night and enjoy the UFC next week.Cotter McGregor fight, here we go.Lucky you. That's it for NRL 364 tonight. We'll be back Thursday at 6 .30pm to wrap up the Origin Decider and now it's time for Face to Face.
