And now police officers are using bank statements, which banks must provide to help with an ongoing investigation to find out who has bought one of these broken devices.Customer lists seized in raids on dealers can also be used to trace who might be using one of these set -top boxes.Anti -piracy group FACT is coordinating with police across the UK as part of Operation IDA, which could lead to home visits, warning letters sent out to suspected streamers, and even criminal prosecution.If you have one of these dodgy boxes, the message is clear.Expect attention, and then expect consequences.
