He was playing in the Portuguese League, Argentinian midfielder.He was definitely coming to Man United, and then he disappeared without a trace.And I did feel like Edison was probably going to be like that.You know, Man United are going to sign this player, and it's just agent -led.But it does feel like it's going to happen.So we'll delve into that tonight.

This is the United stand.So why do we think this deal's done, Mark?Well, look, to be fair, there's a lot.Matteo Moretto, who works for Fabrizio, is probably going to be...I don't know whether we need... another Romano or David Ornstein, but we might be heading towards one.You know, it is interesting, you know, he has been the person that has led on this story.

And, you know, he works for Romano.So is Romano sorting a protege out here?I don't know.But essentially, Manchester United have held lots of talks with Edison, but the latest updates are that Manchester United and Edison are very, very, not my words, the words of Matti Moretto, who works for Brizzio Romano in Italy, three verys, Edison and Man United are very, very, very, not my words, the words of Matti Moretto, very, very, very close to finalising a deal With an agreement in principle already reached between the clubs and the players, Edison did not feature in Atalanta's last game against Fiorentina.He was ready, but requested not to play as he is one step away from the move and is delighted about joining United.While the transfer is not yet 100 % complete due to some remaining commission related issues, they expect the final acceleration and closure next week, positioning Edison as a key part of Man Utd's midfield.

Our source has delivered.And not in the way Moreto has delivered, but remember like last week I said Man United are gonna make a big signing before the World Cup.This is clearly the deal, isn't it?I mean, I'd like it to be Tenali or Elliot Anderson, but this is clearly it.What United define as a big signing is not for us to say, but we don't normally do deals before the World Cup.the end of June.

So this this clearly is the deal that was being spoken about.

And it's clearly a deal that they've been working on for a while.I mean, Man United is slow.You know, they're slower than a snail's turd.So we've definitely been working on this for a long time.And this is clearly the big signing that United are making before the World Cup.

It doesn't mean it's the biggest signing.I want to clarify that.It doesn't mean it's the biggest signing.But this is I mean, I don't want to use the word definitely, but I almost do.It's going to happen.This is going to happen.

I mean, there is just literally nobody saying that it's bollocks.It's going to happen.So let us know.I mean, this is probably here we go, Edison, by the middle of next week, maybe even before.And look, the way I look at it is, funnily enough, it's been very hot in the UK today, and I was down in the King's Arms in Knoll, which is a lovely little pub, and I was talking to the bar staff there, one was a Villa fan, one was a United fan, and the United fan was talking about Edison, and I detected he wasn't that excited about it, and I said, look, as I've said to our community of the United stand, and they said, I am one of them, and I said, yeah, but we're talking face -to -face here, I said, I ain't gonna lie to you and say this is a shit signing.

You know, I've seen people saying it online.And I'm not gonna say it's a shit signing because it's a player that I've spoken about numerous times on this channel for probably three or four years.

And I've always said he's a decent player.So I'm not about to say that it's the worst signing in the world.What I will say is it's a weird signing.You know, I'll acknowledge that it's a weird signing.And I actually...I actually think that, look, we can listen to all sorts of people give their own analysis about Edison.

And I actually saw a commentator, an English commentator for, I think it was TNT, talking about Edison and giving like, you know, I know what Edison's like.And I thought, what

You know, he's 27, he's ready to make this move.United have been looking at him for a long time and they feel with a year left on his contract, he's ready to pounce.That's Edison.You know, literally, there is no way, you know, Edison is a piece of toast with peanut butter on it.It is what it is.You either like it or you don't.

That's how I would define Edison.There's no hidden depth and he's not shit.You either like this signing or you don't like it.And that's what I would say.You know, we haven't gone and signed the next Jao Neves, and we haven't gone and signed the next Jordan Henderson at 36.We have signed a player that might be the next Fredo Noguete, or he might be the next Ander Herrera, you know, or he might be the next Casimiro.

It's unlikely he's going to be that, to be fair.But we don't know what he's going to be.It's a punt.It's a punt.That's what it is.It could be the next Agaté.

It could be the next Ander Herrera.Like, you know, an Ander Herrera for me was a very good signing for United.We are not signing Pogba.We are not signing Schweinsteiger.We are not signing Michael Carrick.

And we are not signing Roy Keane.That's not what Edison is.We are not signing our star midfielder.We are signing our third midfielder.If he's our second midfielder, we're in trouble.

If it's our third midfielder and there's two better ones coming in, we're fine.If it's Edison, Fernandes and Anderson, we're sorted.If it's Edison, Fernandes and Baleba, we're fucked.It's that.He doesn't define our summer transfer window, in my opinion.It's what we do after this.

But you know what?I think it's always important to be even -handed.This is not a game changer.This is not a top class signing.This is not something where United can walk out and go, look at what we've done.This is a risk.

It could be a calculated risk.But I think what I will concede is that remember when we had Jose Mourinho as manager and we used to get linked to Milinkovic Savic at Lazio.And then Mourinho got sacked and Oli came in and we still got linked to Milinkovitch Savage.And I used to say, we're not signing Milinkovitch Savage.And we never did, because he was a legacy Mourinho target.And then the minute Mourinho got sacked was the minute that deal was over.

But here we are in 2026, and Edison is a legacy Ten Hag signing.He is not a Wilcox or a Carrick or an Ineos signing.We've scouted this player way before they came in.Like we've been linked to this player way before they came in.So it is strange.It's strange that we've been close to signing this player before Ineos and Wilcox were even here.

And yet it's resonated through.He has only got one year left on his contract.We do need to sign three players.I think it's intriguing.You know what?Flip a coin.

You know, people ask me what I think about this deal and stop beating around the bush.Two years ago, I probably would have been quite excited about it.Today, I think there's better on the market.

I think Alex Scott is better.I think James Garner is better.I think Fernandes is better.I think Stiller is better.I think Wharton is better.I think Anderson is better.

I think Chiomini is better.I think Tenali is better.I think there are seven or eight players that are better than signing Edison.But what I would also say is..

and you can take it as a positive or you can take it as a negative, I think it's really interesting how we've actually broken our own parameters for a player that doesn't fit those parameters.

So essentially, we are going to buy a player who is 27, over 26, with no Premier League experience, only ever played outside the Premier League, who is not a Brazilian international.And we're going to give him, you know, 35 million for a player with one year left on the contract.

I mean, I don't know whether that's a positive or a negative, but we are breaking our own parameters on Edison as well, because I never, I've got to, you know, I don't know whether it's credit or whatever, but I will not lie, because I've spoken about this a lot.

We are buying a player.who is over 26, who has never played in the Premier League, who is not an international and we're paying £35 million for a player that's got one year left on their contract.So we are breaking our own parameters to do this deal and we must acknowledge that.Now, I think we need to break the 26 barrier.I absolutely do.

I think we need to break the obsession of being Premier League proven.So I hope this deal works because if this deal works, it takes us away from the stupidity of you've got to be under 26 and Premier League proven.But there are risks.

There are risks.But I hope it works out because I don't agree.I do not agree.And I'm not naming names, but I do not agree with some of the shits he's had.I don't agree with it.I'll back any player when they sign.

If we sign Buleba, I'll hope it works out.I do not want to sign Buleba, but I'll back him.In relation to Edison, you know, I know this player.Not personally, but I know about this player.I've known about this player for three or four years.I think he's decent.

Don't know whether it's what Man United need, but I think he's decent.But I think some of the, you know, analysis on him can only be wrong.I mean, there's so much he's shit, this, that, and the other.And I guarantee these people have never watched him play for Atalanta.I understand the risk.I understand, you know, it's not the player that you want.

And I do agree there are better options in the market, but it probably comes down to, for me, United should be signing Scott, Stiller and Anderson.That's the three.That's who they should sign.That's my three.Scott, Stiller, Anderson.That's what we should sign.

They're all available.I'm not under any illusion.As much as I think Edison's a decent player, we're only signing him because he's cheap.That's why we're doing it.

As Marleau said this morning, How have we been linked to a player for three years, never done anything about it?He's literally like, there's the paper, there's the pen.He's that close to signing for Atletico Madrid in January, and we do nothing.

He's like that close.And then Atletico Madrid pull it away because they don't want to pay 40 million.So he's that close to signing for Atletico Madrid, but suddenly United are like, this is the player that we want.

You can't lie about that.That, you know, even though I think he's a decent player, you can't lie about that.He is that close to signing for Atletico Madrid and they pull the paper away because they don't want to pay 40 million.And we do fuck all.We're not there.You know, if Atletico Madrid say we'll give you 40 million, he is an Atletico Madrid player and we're nowhere near it.

So it is a little bit weird in the summer that we're going, oh, Edison, Edison.And we've done fuck all for two and a half years.But suddenly now, he is the guy.And that'll be financial.But it doesn't mean it can't work out.And what you're looking at in January might be different to what you're looking at in the summer.

I mean, look, at the end of the day, we don't look at anything in January, do we?So look, we'll have to wait and see how it works.Positives, South American players tend to come in with a different mentality.

Hard working, Casimiro, Martinez, you know, they do tend to come in with a different work ethic, which is what United need.I think Edison will come in and work hard.That's the sort of player he is.The concern is how does he adapt to the Premier League?That's the concern.We've got no idea.

And he's 27.I mean, I don't know where United are, but they're not in the real world.In the modern world, 27 is old when it comes to value.He's only got one year left.He's not a Brazilian international.He doesn't play for Bayern Munich or Barcelona.

He plays for Atalanta with one year left on his contract at 27 and he's not a Brazilian international.And they're taking us for 35 million.We are getting ripped off a little bit.Absolutely.But you know why we're getting ripped off?Because his wage will be below 150 grand.

All about the wage.Take it or leave it, this is all about wages.We won't go for Anderson because he wants more than 200 grand a week.

We won't go for Bruno Guimaraes because he wants more than 200 grand a week.We won't go for Tonali because he wants over 200 grand a week.

United, and I'm happy to get proved on this, proved wrong, United have put a line in the sand, we're not giving anyone more than 200 grand a week.

And I tell you what, the line in the sand will be second place as well, because we won't win a fucking title, by paying people less than 200 grand a week.But I'mconvinced that that's what this is all about.This is about wages.We are going for players that are cheap, wages -wise.That's what we're doing.
