“Electrical incident” that injured 12 kids at water park being investigated by Technical Safety BC

The Coltis Lake Water Park typically filled with crowds, excitement and laughter.But today it remains closed following Monday's incident that sent a dozen youth to hospital.Safety officers with Technical Safety B .C.on site Tuesday morning looking into what exactly went wrong.It's being called an electrical incident and believed to have happened at the bottom of the 0 to 60 raceway slide on the west side of the park, which is currently behind yellow tape and orange cones.

It was around 11 a .m.Monday that a group of kids were lined up for the ride when the situation unfolded.

There's a queuing area at the bottom of that ride with railing and And when they made contact with there, that's where the incident occurred for a brief time.If there was a railing involved and that is in that queuing area.It appears that it was during contact being made with that railing.

that this happened, didn't have a lot of information, said there was electrical shock and there were burns.So that's the only information I had as I headed out to Abbotsford.

Mounties say 12 youth suffered various injuries.The Coquitlam School District confirming 10 of the injured were on a field trip from Minicata Middle School in Port Coquitlam.The group was there on a field trip for grades six and seven.ambulances were dispatched to the scene, airlifting two of the youth to hospital.

We got there very quickly and with the nature of their injuries, it wasn't like they had to be transported immediately.They were provided with medical treatment very quickly and they were reported in stable condition.condition but with serious but non life threatening injuries and taken to hospital.

B. C. Hydro says the issue originated on the customer's side of the electrical service and not within its own equipment.Cultus Lake Water Park says it's not rushing to work.the gates to ensure the incident is thoroughly investigated.The water park will remain closed until at least Thursday morning.Erin Eubels, Global News.
