England fans in Dallas ahead of match against Croatia
Meantime, the England national team arrived at Dallas Love Field ahead of tomorrow's match. The three Lions flew in from their home base in Kansas City. The players boarded their team bus then to take them to their Dallas hotel.England is hoping to bring a championship home. They've only won once. That was in 1966.
The England fans have been exploring North Texas for the last couple of days. There were several pub meetups tonight to celebrate before the match.Fox Sports' Amelia Jones is at one of those spots tonight.Amelia.
Heather, Steve, it is safe to say that the English have taken over.I'm at the London Pub here on Mockingbird Lane.I was here this afternoon, but now people are spilling out of the bar. They are taking over the balcony, the streets. We did see several Dallas Police squad cars here, mainly just to do some crowd control. We didn't see them approach anyone.
There didn't seem to be any kind of escalation. But earlier this afternoon, you hear the chants behind me.We heard some chants inside when we hear We were here earlier.Take a listen.Londoner pub on Mockingbird Lane this afternoon. As you can tell, it was full of England fans.
And as I've been getting to know fans, I'm learning so much about the culture, especially how much England loves soccer. There is a lot of pride with these fans and this team, but there is also so much fun.
Playing game, drinking, making noise, and being in good spirits.
Is that what it's like to be an England fan?
Exactly.Nothing better than singing in unison with loads of England fans.I've done a lot of fun things in my life. But when you're around these lot, you just feel like one big family. It's unreal. It's great.
Oh, it's great.It's really warm.So warm.We don't get heat like this at home.It's absolutely boiling.I can't breathe.
It's too hot.It's so hot.
to throw Ruby Hudson's soundbite about the weather in there.I've asked so many English fans how they're acclimating to this heat, and many have simply told me they just head inside to drink in the air conditioning. And that's where we found some other England fans at City Tavern in downtown Dallas as well.
First time, like, doing an England, like, fan trip. And it's, like, nice to just sort of, yeah, enjoy the party spirit with, like, fellow people who, like, grew up, like, half and a half.
It's super cool, yeah.Wembley is our church.Football is our religion.Pretty confident.A lot of people back home are pretty doubtful, but I'm confident we'll go far.
Also headed up to another England supporter watch party or rather celebration at Seven Doors Kitchen and Cocktails in the Colony. And we found an England fan who now calls Dallas home. She wasn't able to get tickets to the game, but being around fellow fans has brought her a sense of joy and nostalgia.
I just want England to finally, finally win and bring it home. It's great. It's going to be fantastic if they do win because the atmosphere is absolutely great. They will enjoy it and the crowds.Just being in with the crowds just makes you happy.
Spending the afternoon and frankly the last couple months covering this team, getting a chance to talk to fans, I have to agree with her.Just being around the Dallas stadium. But for those tickets, I'm told that they're going to watch at a pub.potentially Texas Live so they can be near the action at the stadium.
serenading us and having fun. It's all a great time.Everybody's having a good time and being happy.
Nice job.Million made the rounds tonight and you survived.Great job.Thank you.
