You know what I mean?Right.Did it prove that when we're under high press that the players we've got,at the back end maybe can't play out under pressure, or they were struggling a little bit?

We're thinking that.We're thinking, yeah, okay, we've contributed towards two goals going forward, we might have done some bits going forward, but we've conceded two.And we're a little bit on the sort of back, so my view is that our first half, I was a little bit, because I said I don't want us to, our defence needs to settle into this tournament and be a strong foundation for us.And I was really nervous at half time that I thought, oh my worst.

But they sorted that out in fairness to England.I think they did.I think that when you look at the game, even the 2 -2 as England were the better team, you can see all the stats.So you hope they show that in the second half, even the hammer blow just before half time conceded a goal, brilliant goal from Croatia.Brilliant goal it was.So I think the game panned out the way, like on paper you're going, there'll be, Croatia will be, they'll be hard to break down.

Did you think it would be like that first half before the game?

I think you never know what you're going to get in the first game of a tournament.I think you always have to be gone.

Especially with the lead up, Roy, with the teams that we've had.It's been easy.Remember you were saying about that first proper team.

They've had an easy campaign.And obviously they're one of the last teams to play.And I think they kind of explained the brilliant half -time.There was a bit of mad nervous energy.So they hadn't played a proper game for a number of weeks.And months go back weeks in terms of their club careers.

And it panned out the second half, I think, in a dream scenario for England.They did overpower them.And all the other teams watching, just like England have been watching France and Messi and all these boys, they'll be going, you know, I'll keep it up for England.I think it was good.The hardest part of football is scoring a goal.I think it was good when...

Do you know, a few minutes before those substitutions, I think I said I wanted him to bring Markerson and Rodgers, if you remember.The idea that he was brave and made them three substitutions at 3 -2 up, many managers would have said with 3 -2 up, he might make one.To make those three, To take off Declan Rice, which we'll come on to in a minute why he would have done that, to take off Antigordon, to take off Madueki, I thought his substitutions were incredible.I thought they were brilliant.

I thought they were really good.

They were brave, they were positive, they were good.

But this is why we have to have faith in him because obviously before everybody's saying, well, you know, he's an experienced manager at this level, what's he going to do?But he's sticking to his plan.And that's what's brave about it.Like you're saying he's made that many substitutions.Because that's what he believes.Because that's his plan.

I like that.The timing of the game is all them players coming on were making England stronger, not like you're going, oh right, he's settling for this, this was, we're going for it.And it sends a message to the England lads, and obviously, again, you just put yourself in the Croatian players' shoes where you're, again, you're hanging in there, listen, they're still in, 3 -2, you might get a goal back, and these lads come on, it's hard for them.

It's very unusual for a manager who's winning in a big game, and the team are playing quite well, we were playing well, to make three substitutions all at once.Usually we'd think that's a team that's either drawing, that's desperate to get a goal back, or they're losing.Honestly, I thought it was really brave and positive to do it whilst we were winning.That is a different style.We didn't make that many substitutions in the last tournament when we were winning matches, I didn't feel.

Yeah, because we've got a different manager, a different outlook.a more positive outlook in respect to it, unless there's no disrespect to anybody else.This is a manager that, like I said, he's got his plan, he's going to stick to his plan.3 -2, 3 -0, whatever it is.
