Fact check: Ads on Trump’s Truth Social link to Carney deepfake

Only one of these videos of Prime Minister Mark Carney is real.The other one is a deepfake.And it came from an ad on U .S.President Donald Trump's Truth Social account.It links to this fake CBC story that features the fake video.

It's a special investment system backed by the government and designed for the average citizen to earn money.

The deepfake is being used to scam you into sending money to a fake investment platform.And similar deepfakes of Carney have appeared in ads on Facebook, Instagram, X, and YouTube.This one appears to have been made by manipulating footage of a real news conference.Carney's suit and the background in the fake version match this video from April 3rd, 2025, when he spoke about Trump's latest tariffs.

The president's actions will reverberate here in Canada and across the world.

Not at all.This isn't a fund where citizens receive minimal payouts.The program is designed so that citizens can safely grow their savings, and the government provides guarantees and conditions for passive income.
