Fernandes AND Scott TRANSFER Talk! Hackney DEAL Off! Man Utd Transfer News

The United Stand9 views
0:01

Hello, everybody.Welcome to the United Stands.I'm Mark Goldbridge. This is your latest Manchester United transfer news. And we've got a raft of exciting updates coming in from David Ornstein this morning.I would say this is, yes, it is the most exciting 10 a .

0:16

m.show we've had of this summer transfer window because most of it involves things I would want to happen and I think you as well.Talks with Fernandes at West Ham.Alex Scott moving up the list very high up the list and unlikely to sign a new contract at Bournemouth.I'm rubbing my hands together at this one. We'll come back to that.

0:35

Lewis Hall mentioned as well.I'm rubbing my hands together as well. And also Hayden Hackney's not coming to Manchester United.Get in a few other bits to talk about as well. But yes, it's it's very, very interesting, isn't it?I mean, I did a video this morning on Hayden Hackney and got a load of abuse from it, from the, you know, the hackney hipsters.

0:54

And I said in that video this morning, I actually said he's more suitable to Everton or Crystal Palace.David Ornstein an hour later does an article saying he's chosen to join Everton, but Crystal Palace and Spurs are interested.I mean, it literally is the right move for him and best of luck. But it's not what Man United should be looking at.What Man United should be looking at is Fernandes at West Ham and Scott at Bournemouth. That's what we should be looking at.

1:18

We've also got updates on Anderson and a few other bits as well.Loads to get into, loads of reaction, and it all sort of centres this morning on a piece that was done by David Ornstein. They call it the transfer deal sheet.Spoken about a lot of clubs.Elliot Anderson is mentioned in relation to Manchester City. But in relation to Manchester United, and let me just give a little bit of credit here.

1:40

It's not just David Ornstein doing this. It's David Ornstein. There's a load of other journalists involved.Mark Critchley, James Pearce, Sam Lee, Jay Harris, James McNicholas, Sebastian Stafford -Bloor.Loads of people involved, but they call it the athletic deal sheet. And certainly David Ornstein's name is attached to it.

1:58

So what it's saying is thatto Manchester United, first and foremost, and I want to start off with Alex Scott, actually, even though it mentions Fernandes and it does mention Lewis Hall.So fasten your seatbelts, get your comments ready.Essentially, I'll do Elliot Anderson in a moment because that's about Man City more than it's about us.So it says that it's no secret that Man United's priority heading into this summer is midfield.Casimiro's leaving, Bruno's staying.

2:24

They need greater depth down the left -hand side as well.Carrick has been involved in the recruitment meetings and has had that input.Despite Casimiro's resurgence United are arguably trying to replace Carrick himself Which was 2000 and whenever when he left 2017 they want to find the right partner for Mainu and are there any specific players? They're targeting. This is all on the athletic by the way United are in advanced talks with Atalanta regarding midfielder Edison He's long been tracked by old Trafford's recruitment department and appeals is because because of his contract expiring in a year Which has brought his price down But also understand man United's midfield shortlist is Fernandez Edison belabor Scott and more.Analyzing those particular players, Mateus Fernandes is a player of interest with United having held talks already over a potential fee and wages, which is a big update.

3:28

West Ham have got little choice but to sell. But with Alex Scott is a potential target. The 22 year old is in talks with Bournemouth over a new contract with his deal set to run until 2028.So two years left.As things stand, an extension with Bournemouth is seen as unlikely and United have made inquiries as to the cost of a deal. Now, look, look, let me just say this right here.

3:55

now I've been talking about Alex Scott on this channel for about three months I haven't I look I always be honest Bournemouth didn't take a massive amount of notice of Bournemouth up until about February time right Truffaut's a very good player I'd seen him a few times.Remarkably, his first ever game for Bournemouth was at Anfield and he was brilliant.Scott, in the last few months, and look, Ben says Scott's not the answer, but tell me why, because I'm about to tell you why I think he is.I've seen him play probably five times since March.I think he should have been in the England squad. He is with the England squad as a standby player.

4:42

Watching him against us, watching him against Arsenal, watching him these last few weeks, there is a very interesting player there. And if we don't get him, he will end up at Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City.He will. He's not going to stay at Bournemouth all his career and he's not going to end up at bloody Everton. He won't.He'll end up at a big club and he'll be a big part of the English midfield landscape for the next five years.

5:11

He's not going to sign a new contract at Bournemouth. So we either wait a year and we get him with one year left on his contract or we do a deal now. Now, what I don't like about Man United is we're quite likely to wait a year.Well, another year of development and a year in Europe will just, you know, increase the competition. There are a lot of teams looking at a lot of midfielders at the moment. And, you know, £50 million might seem a lot, but I don't think it is.

5:36

And it might not even be that much. Two years left on his contract at Bournemouth.50, I'm saying max, you might get something like 40 with add -ons.I'd happily give 40 with 20 in add -ons, I would. It's hard to judge what his price would be.But you know what?

6:01

I'm not sure about...I'm really passionate about this, by the way.I'm not sure about Michael Carrick.I really...You know, Iriola's probably going to Liverpool.Should we have done that?

6:11

Should we have pushed harder for Tuchel? You know, Carrick's another interim like Oli.I'm not sure about Carrick and no one's going to convince me about that. But if you buy a player like this...That makes me more excited about what could happen with Carrick because Carrick was a tall midfielder and Alex Scott is a tall midfielder. He's got an amazing shot on him.

6:32

He's got, he reminds me a little, I don't know whether anybody watched Baller League and I know it's completely different, but he reminds me a little bit of Alfie Matthews.I know they've got similar hair, but he's got that ability to score a goal out of nothing, but he's also really good on the ball.He can conduct, he can make a tackle.I think he's a special talent, but I think he's a special talent in a team like ours.I think he suits the way we want to play as a team.So if Carrick and Wilcox and Barada get Scott...

7:02

Oh God!I said Wilcox and I sneezed, I'm allergic to him.If they get a player like that, then that makes me more on board with this project.I genuinely think Alex Scott at Manchester United makes us really exciting and he's homegrown as well.Like, we have got to start thinking about homegrown players. We have to.

7:27

You know our homegrown quota? It basically has been.Apart from Mainu, it's people like Luke Shaw, Mason Mouw, Harry Maguire. These players are not our future.Alex Scott would be.I think he's a fantastic player.

I think he's good on the ball, physical.got a great engine, can get a shot off.We want to transition into a more possession -based team.I think Alex Scott's a really interesting one.Look, I'm not saying we're going to get Fernandes or Scott, but what I am saying is there's two players there that I'd be very happy with.

8:03

Now, what I do need to do is I need to do a video on Scott.because I haven't done enough.

8:08

I haven't done enough around what he's like, but I'd be very excited about this.I don't like the mention of Buleba. It does say Buleba in there, and I'm not going to mess about about that.It literally does say Buleba is there on the shortlist, and I'm not particularly happy about that. But Fernandes and Scott do excite me.Now, look, Going back to what it says about Fernandes, because it does say Manchester United have held talks about a fee and wages with Fernandes.

8:40

Now, what does that mean? That means we've held talks about fees and wages. Now, essentially, what that means is, is that we've spoken to West Ham and we've spoken to the player.West Ham have little choice to sell of course, but talks have been held over a potential fee and wages.initial sort of contact around fee and, as I said, wages.I don't think wages are going to be a massive problem.

9:13

And look, I want to make it very, very clear.I do not want Edison, Fernandes and Scott.I mean, I'd take that than Belayber being in there, but I'm not going to be a hypocrite. And tell me your thoughts.Would you be happy with Edison, Fernandes and Scott?Because I wouldn't.

9:27

That for me would be, you know, with Menuh as well, you've got four players.three of which aren't used to Champions League and Premier League at the same time, one of which is not used to the Premier League. So Edison, Meunier, Fernandes and Scott. You'd get them all for under £150 million. But no, there's got to be a marquee signing in there.Well, look, I mean, that's breaking news just coming out now from Romano around Iriola.

10:12

That becomes a problem for Alex Scott because the sooner Iriola's in, the sooner he can go and have a look. Now, look, what I'm hoping is going to happen, but there's no guarantee.Well, in fact, it won't happen because he's out of contract at Bournemouth. With sporting, we weren't allowed as part of the deal to go back and get sporting players for eight months. We got Amer in in the November and we weren't allowed to go in until the following summer and we never did.I think he's out of contract at Bournemouth, so he can just go back in there and do that.

10:45

And he's going to want, like Kelvin says, he's going to want those players.Look, ultimately, My doubt over Carrick is going to continue is my prediction.I think Iriola was an interesting choice for United. We didn't take it.Liverpool did.I think Alex Scott is a good choice for Man United.

11:01

I don't think we'll take it.I think Liverpool will. So, you know, there we go.Ben says, I'd rather buy the commentator Alex Scott.I don't know what your problem is with Scott, Ben.That's two now.

11:11

I just I don't get it.I mean, But look, I respect it, but I think he'd be a good signing.I think we'll get Fernandez from West Ham.Patrick Lynch says, with all the midfield options, it's about what direction we'd go with for play and style and pick players that suit that.My worry is we get players and try to put square pegs in round holes. No matter who we get, some will dislike them.

11:29

Absolutely.I mean, Patrick is predominantly the voice of reason, and I think he's absolutely right.spot -on.I've said this before, the problem with the midfield selections for Man United this summer is that they are wide and varied and I don't know whether we're living in this world society -wise anyway. It's a very opinionated world now.And it's certainly an opinionated world in football.

11:55

And I don't even know if there's a manager that Man United could have got apart from Enrique, where everyone would have been excited and we would never get an Enrique.I don't know whether there's a summer signing where everybody agrees. If we get Anderson, some people will want Tonali and Chiomini. If we get Tonali, some people will want Anderson. That's very dangerous for Manchester United.I don't think it's something that Manchester United's board are intelligent enough to take on board, by the way.

12:19

Football is an entertainment business.Social media is a huge part of that.Social media is a sounding board. And we've seen it with Dorgoo, we've seen it with Agaté, we've seen it with De Ligt, we've seen it with Yoro. These are players that have had their detractors, not just in the fan base, but in the media, ex -players.I mean, who was it who said about De Ligt, he's like Harry Maguire, he's slow.

12:45

I mean, and this is what I mean, and it sticks. So I think Patrick's right.I think we all need to accept The midfielders we buy, we ain't going to be happy. We're going to buy three.Am I going to get the three midfielders I really, really want?Am I going to get Tenali, Scott and Fernandes?

13:02

No, I'm not.I'm not going to get it.I'm not.So I'm going to have to be, I'm going to have to look at the balance. And I think Patrick is right. We won't all get what we want.

13:11

And also we will have to, you know, look at the construction of it and what we're going to do.I prefer Scott, but I guess he's going to go to Liverpool, says Parry.Yep.Emily Derry, also a good voice of reason, says Scott might sign a new contract with Bournemouth with understanding they let him go in either January or next summer.Meanwhile, he becomes more expensive, like Semenyu last season, says Emily. He might do.

13:34

He might do.But also, Emily, if you think about it from Scott's position, he is that close to going to the World Cup.I think he deserves to go to the World Cup.Why is he not going to the World Cup?Because Maneu has taken his spot. Why has Maneu took his spot?

13:52

Because he plays centre midfield for Manchester United for three months.Scott plays in a midfield that's been unbeaten the longest out of any team in Europe. They finish sixth in the Premier League and he doesn't go to the World Cup.But Maneu does.I'm not saying Maneu shouldn't go.I'm happy if Maneu's going.

14:11

But if Scott was in Man Utd's midfield and Maneu was in Bournemouth's field, I think Scott goes.So what I'm saying is, if he wants to stay at Bournemouth, that's up to him.If he wants to go and play for Liverpool or Man Utd, he'll get in the England squad a lot quicker. That's just life. That's the way it is.So and he was that close to going to the World Cup and the Euros are in two years and it's a very competitive midfield.

14:33

And Anderson's going to be playing for a top four team next year.Maynew is, you know, Wharton might be as well.So if you look at it like that, staying at Bournemouth probably doesn't do a lot for your England career.Watching the Hackney video, him being a lot like Mainu would be a bench player for Mainu.Edison is different, whereas Hackney is close to Cobby.Look, look, really good comments coming in.

14:54

Thank you very much, D. And welcome to the Members Club, of course.Just on Elliot Hackney, I'll just cover this one really quickly, because there's a story on Anderson from this Athletic article, and there's one on Lewis Hall I want to talk about as well. Please do share the video.Big video this morning, really big updates.I think, you know, we could spend hours talking about this.I'm sure we'll pick up on it on the 2 o 'clock, on the 8 o 'clock show as well.

15:15

But essentially, Big article in The Athletic, David Ornstein involved in that as well.Man United have held talks about a fee and wages with Fernandes.Alex Scott is..Man United's list and is unlikely to sign a new contract at Bournemouth. We've got an Anderson and Lewis Hall updates to come as well. But on Hayden Hackney, it says in this article, that, as per reported by David Ornstein, United, like Hayden Hackney, who played under Carrick at Middlesbrough, but he's lower on their list of targets and a move to Old Trafford is not anticipated.

15:48

As it stands, the midfielder's preference this summer is to join Everton. Now, look, yesterday morning, we had this story from the North East correspondent that Man United were interested. As I said last night, I felt that that might be a little bit of, you know, boost the price.say that Man United are interested.I did a video this morning on Hackney, spoke to a few people about him, watched a few videos about him, did a little bit of statistical analysis around him.And I actually entitled the video Hayden Hackney makes no sense.

16:22

It doesn't make any sense to Manchester United. We're talking about going into the Champions League and trying to be competitive in the Premier League. We're going to buy Edison. We're only going to buy three midfielders.Edison is a bit of a risk. And then you buy Hackney, who's more of a risk than Edison because he's never played in the Premier League and he's never played in Europe.

16:39

That is not the sort of signing United should be making. If you're buying Edison, the next two players need to be ready to go.Because Edison, in a sense, is ready to go, but he will need an adjustment period, potentially, because he's never played in the Prem. You bring Hayden Hackney from the Championship, he needs a bloody, he might need two years. You know, he might take two months. But it never made any sense to me.

16:59

And I actually said on the video, this is a player that Everton sign.Forrest sign, Crystal Palace sign, absolutely.Crystal Palace bought in Wharton from the Premier League, from the Championship and it worked.Everton took James Garner from us and it worked. You bring in McMahon United, I can't see where he gets game time, he can't be one of the three.so I think that, look, Hayden Hackney, thankfully, is off the list now, and I'm happy about that.

17:25

But look, I...I've got to say, his passing stats are very good.I've got to say, you know, it's an interesting signing to bring into the Premier League, and I think he does deserve that.

17:36

I just don't think, with us signing Edison, I don't think it suits what Man United are trying to do at the moment. So for me, I'm quite happy about that update, and I'd much rather we were focusing on the likes of Scott and Anderson and Fernandes, etc.

17:53

Someone in the chat said it, which is...

17:57

I'll tell you what, I will answer it, but I want to talk about Lewis Hall next.Somebody just said it in the chat, so you lot are going to get it.This is how it works. We're a community here.Belayba or Hackney?

18:08

You know what?I'm playing football god here. You have to get one. It's August the 31st.The only two options left in the shop. It's Belayba or Hackney.

18:20

Which way are you going to go?Let me know.Nick P. Sorry, I'm just going to blow my nose a little bit, Nick.I've got a bit of a...Allergies this morning.Nick P says the Hackney cult are after me because I said his stats are null and void as he plays in a different league.

18:35

I think they just like his name.

18:37

Mate, I did the video this morning. It was actually quite complimentary in the first two minutes, if you watch it.Still got a load of shit about it.I mean, welcome to the world of if you disagree with somebody, you get abuse.

18:50

Yeah.Scott and Laetitia are siblings.Makes sense, says Smith.I don't know what that means.Daniel Thompson says, I hope you're all well.Carrick needs all the help he can get and needs quality players.

19:03

If the board are keen on Scott, get him now.Don't wait as he will get better.Players like him, Tonali Fernandes, are what we need, says Daniel Thompson.Look, I know this is going to sound wild, but AlecScott, right, how old is he?I'm meant to be talking about Lewis Hall here.

Alex Scott, it's confusing because they've also put up the presenter from the BBC.

19:32

He's 22, 22, and he be, when's his birthday? He'll be 23 in August. So he's like three years younger than Sorry, I've lost my live chat. He's three years younger than Tenali. What if Alex Scott, at 26, is basically the English Tenali, you know?I think it's a good...

20:26

Imagine if we got Anderson and Scott, that's two...English homegrown players in our midfield with Mainu. That would be amazing.Absolutely amazing.Amazing.If we can't convince players to join this transfer window, we're going to expose the board.

20:39

We got the funds from sales and the pull with the Champions League, and now with Pep leaving as well, says Seth.Fair points.Hackney will replace Anderson, Fernandes or Scott, says Sam.And also Dragon King says, sack the board.Glenios sucks.13 years of mediocre performance.

20:55

We need two or three big signings. The penny pinching Glenios will run us to the ground.

21:00

We end up with Ndidi or Bileba because they are cheap. How about the big injuries Scott has had?Has he had loads of big injuries?

21:08

I just want to double check that before we talk about Lewis Hall.Injury history.I mean, he had one injury, 24 to 25, between October 24 and February 25, over a year ago.

21:40

Rule players out for that.I think Scott has a brighter future than Anderson, says Marlow.Thank you very much for that as well.Yeah.Okay, 55 % of you would go for Belabor over Hackney.I'm not surprised by that.

22:01

I think I'd go for Belabor over Hackney.Yeah, I think I would.Right, let me talk to you about Lewis Hall, and then I'll talk to you about Anderson. So this was the update about Lewis Hall in The Athletic today.Lewis Hall is among the options being considered at left back, raising the prospect of a move for a player whose path crossed with director of football, Christopher Vival at Chelsea.Newcastle are not looking to sell, but the St. James' Park Club are expected to significantly reshape their squad.

22:31

And while Hall has established himself under Eddie Howe, he's not always been in favour.Anthony Gordon's move means Newcastle are not necessarily prioritising sales, but they may consider further exits to help funds incoming.Any deal for Hall could be worth north of £50m.

22:47

Ternally also has his admirers at Old Trafford, although an asking price closer to £100m would likely be prohibitive.

22:57

Look, all I would say about that is, is some people are going to get really excited about Lewis Hall. We're probably going to get infiltrated by Newcastle fans.as is the way.I feel with Lewis Hall, what I said to you last week stands. If Newcastle sell, Man United will be there. For Newcastle to sell, Lewis Hall has got to say he wants to go and Eddie Howe's got to agree with it.

23:22

And then the door opens.I don't think we can open the door.unless Newcastle want to sell and Lewis Hall wants to go.

23:30

So I feel like, yeah, it's an interesting update on Lewis Hall.Man Utd would consider a move, but it would be over £50m and he's worth it, in my opinion.

23:40

But Newcastle don't need to sell and I think it will come down to the unlikely scenario that he asks to leave.

23:49

So Whole Lotta Lev says Lewis Hall means no Tenali. The Tonali thing just worries me. I mean, listen to this update here. We'll talk about Anderson here, and this is not actually in the Man United section. This is in the Man City section. Are there any specific players they're targeting? So this is in the same article from The Athletic.

24:11

Elliot Anderson is the main target for Manchester City, though they have been keeping tabs on other options like Newcastle's Sandro Tonali. And I think that is A really important thing to mention. That's the big difference between Manchester United, right, and Manchester City.Manchester City win things and consistently challenge for the Premier League.Man United don't.15 years ago, Man United were the big club in Manchester.

24:38

Now it's Man City.not on size, not on fan base, not on kit sales, whatever, but on actual what matters.

24:45

I mean, do you go to bed at night excited about, you know, how many fans we've got worldwide and how many kits we sell?Or would you go to bed excited that we might win the Premier League next season?

24:58

So Man City do it right. We do it right.wrong.Man City are looking at Elliot Anderson and the price will be around £100m.If they don't get him, they'll go for Tonali and the price will be £100m.That's the update from Man City.

25:11

Man United's update is Tonali's price is prohibitive, Anderson's price is prohibitive. And that's the difference. You've got one club willing to spend what it takes to be successful. You've got another club that wants to be successful but won't spend to do it.And ultimately, think of it like a Formula One team. There is a bit of equipment that's going to make you go quick, but it's expensive.

25:35

We want it.We want to be quick. We want it, but we don't want to pay for it.So we'll go for something a bit cheaper.Well, you're never going to be as quick as them, are you?And it really does come down to an analogy that simple.

25:46

Man City will spend on the pieces to make them the quickest car.Man United want to be the quickest car.but want to do it on reputation. We're Man United.Look at our lovely car.Look, our car looks nicer than theirs, but theirs goes quicker.

25:59

Our car's got more followers on social media than their car.Yeah, but their car goes quicker. And until we spend the money on the things that are going to make us quick, we're always going to be racing with one arm behind our back. And that is the problem. So Man City, Anderson, if they don't get him, Tenali.Man United, Anderson and Tenali are too expensive.

26:19

I mean, I read something, I think it was Swedish Rumble today.Absolutely spot on.If Man Utd's budget is £250 million, why do you need to make it spread? Why do you need to stretch that to £30 million player, £50 million player?Look, some people might not agree with what was said, but it basically said Chelsea have to sell.If the money is on the table, Chelsea have to sell.

26:44

Go and offer £130m for Caicedo. He is the best holding midfielder in the Premier League, arguably in Europe.Offer £130m to Chelsea for Caicedo. Now everyone in the chat's going to go, what?Offer £100m, £130m for Caicedo, see what Chelsea do.Then go and give Forrest £100m for Anderson.

27:07

You've just spent £230m on two players, but you've got a midfield three of Menu, Caicedo and Anderson. You probably can win the league next year. You can probably go deep in the Champions League next year. You're going to get £100m guaranteed back next year. And all right, you've only got 20 million pounds left, but there are free deals you can do.There are cheap deals you can do, you know.

27:31

So look, no one's ever going to do it at Man United. But we are trying to spread that budget around, aren't we?Oh, 35 million on Edison because he's got one year left on his contract. Are these players going to make Arsenal and Man City and Liverpool shit themselves? No, no.And look, the Caicedo thing is probably unrealistic, but the Tonali thing's not.

27:58

The Andersons thing's not.We won't even go and make one of those deals. Some people think we should make two.So I do think that we have to be a little bit more ambitious.I do think in football you get what you pay for.Of course you can overpay on shit.

28:22

You can.But I think United have a mindset that anything over £80 million is overpaying and that's not right. And that needs calling out.Man United seem to think if it's over £80m you're overpaying. It's not.If you paid over £100m for Haaland, it's not overpaying.

28:41

If you pay over £100m for Yamal, it's not overpaying. You pay over £80m for Caicedo, Declan Rice, you're not overpaying are you?But United seem to thinkit is, you know?Mr. Creed says F1 teams all have the same budgets.Mate, it was an analogy.

28:56

It's not meant to be real life. What LBS do you think Carrick Bench is sure for? What left backs do you think Carrick Bench is sure for?Robert McCormack in the chat.I don't necessarily think that...

29:10

I don't necessarily think that Carrick benches Shaw for anybody.I said this last week, Robert.I mean, I think it's wrong, but I think Michael Carrick will start Luke Shaw next year, and I think it will come back and bite him on the arse, because I think it's nepotism.I don't actually think Luke Shaw is very good. But I would bench Luke Shaw for half of the Premier League left -backs.I mean, I'd bench Luke Shaw for Dioff at West Ham and he's a championship left -back now.

29:34

Al Amir says, no players over 26, then the board renew Maguire, Deleuze and Shaw.

29:39

Two different strategies, same cocks, says Al Amir. Please do share the video. We're nearly at 10 ,000 watching.Loads of the show still to go as well.

29:48

Diane says, the board of Priced is out of Tonali and Anderson, while Ciomini is a dream.I see the midfielders Edison, Fernandez, Scott and Deleuze. It won't be good enough, will it?It just won't be good enough.Absolutely will not be good enough if we do that.We have to go big.

And look, I'm not here to talk about Chiomini on the show this morning, but I absolutely do believe that he will be a major consideration for Manchester United, maybe in the next couple of weeks.Maybe in the next sort of two months, I do think that will happen, certainly.A couple of other bits here as well.Do you think we'll get Lewis Hall?I'd say less than 20 % chance at the moment.Yeah, it's this.

31:08

Steven Railston in the Manchester Evening News says United are set to benefit from a FIFA pot of £263 million for clubs supplying players to the World Cup.FIFA's club benefit programme means that clubs will be paid per day for each of their players involved. The players don't have to get on the pitch, with payments being ginning on the date they are released.FIFA increased funding for their club benefits programme two years ago, which covers qualifying.I don't think we get the £260 million.and sent something else here, sorry.

31:57

Sorry for the drop in the flow.Oh yeah, I've just read that one, that's absolutely fine, okay.Let me come back to the chat.I think we have to try and think who Carrick will play, says Robert McCormack.

32:07

Yeah, but I think, Robert, I think next season, like, I do agree with you.

32:14

I don't think Carrick's the right appointment.I think that I'm entitled to that opinion and I think when you look at the reason he got the job, he got the job relying on people like Maguire, Luke Shaw, Deleux, Bruno, Casimiro, Players I don't think we can rely on.So unless Carrick's going to change big time next season and drop people like Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire and Deleux and obviously replace Casemiro properly.

32:39

you've got to keep Bruno in the team, then I don't think you'll last long. But at the moment, in the absence of that knowledge, I think you'll still keep picking Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire at the start of next season. And I think that ultimately that won't change the way we play. And ultimately, I think the look will run out.But hopefully, he does buy a left back and benches Luke Shaw.Hopefully De Ligt comes back and he benches Maguire.

33:03

Hopefully the Casimiro replacement is someone like Tumini, Anderson or Tonali. So I think it's very difficult to understand how it's going to be next season.I think what we need to do is integrate ourself into what the summer transfer window is going to be.And as I said, if you've tuned in a little bit late, I think Fernandez of West Ham is advancing.Obviously, if the Athletic are saying that we've held talks about a fee and wages, that means we spoke to the players side and West Ham.Obviously, West Ham are not going to move quickly if they think Arsenal or PSG are going to come in as well.

33:42

I think the Alex Scott thing is really interesting because if he's unlikely to sign a new deal at Bournemouth, that means he's basically available. If Bournemouth want to wait till next summer, they're going to lose money on him, aren't they? But they might want to, you know, dig their feet in.So you know, Buleba is still a name being mentioned. But I don't see how Buleba is in this race, really.I don't think Brighton want to sell Buleba.

34:05

As I said to you last night, if you were looking to sell, if Brighton had factored in selling Buleba this summer, you'd have started him against Man United, hoping that he plays well. And then our fan base is so gullible, they would have said, I'm a Buleba, I'm a Buleba.Oh, I'm a Buleba, he played so well. But they benched him for Milner. So I think Brighton don't want to sell him.I think they want to keep him another year because I think they feel that, you know, there's probably more potential there.

34:28

And if they don't want to sell him, I think the price for Buleyba is north of 60.Well, I think Fernandesand Scott are south of 60.So, and I think Fernandes and Scott are better than Buleba, so they're cheaper and they're better. So, hopefully we can secure one of Fernandes and Scott, and that avoids us getting Buleba.I think Edison's coming in.

34:50

I don't know what your thoughts are on this.I think our midfield three, Edison's one, Buleba, Fernandes or Scott is two, and then Ciumini, Tenali or Anderson is three.I think that's where we are today. And Edison's option, bottom shelf.Fernandez, Belayba or Scott, middle shelf. And then Tenali, Ciumini or Anderson, top shelf.

35:11

And to be fair, that's probably right, because you don't want to get Scott, Fernandez and Edison. You need to have a marquee signing. So I think, you know, if it ends up being Ciumini, Fernandez, Edison, I'm happy. If it ends up being Anderson, Scott, Edison, I'm happy.

35:26

If it ends up being Tenali, Belayba, Edison, It's not the best, but at least they've got one from each shelf, if you know what I mean.

35:35

Dino69 says, what are the three key factors you want to see next season in United to say they have had a successful season again and Champions League spot again?I think it all comes down to PRV for me, Dino. And if you are new and you haven't watched last season, I always use these letters as a guide to what drives me that Man United might be heading in the right direction. So PRV is performance.Did we play well? Results for R and vision for V. I think under Karrick, undisputably, we had results.

36:10

We didn't have vision, which is fine, because he's an interim, and we didn't have performance, which is fine, because he was getting results. So in a year's time, I can't just be living off results.I need to see performance in how we're playing, because you can guarantee if Liverpool do well, they're going to be playing good football under Areola, and if Chelsea do well, they're going to be playing good football under Alonso. So I want to see something to be proud of performance wise.I don't want to see us playing with less than 50 % possession every week.I want to see the results continue.

36:38

And I want to see a vision as well. And vision comes down to new signings. If you buy people like Fernandes or Scott, they're younger players that can grow with us.I think vision is not picking Luke Shaw, Harry Maguire, Deleu every bloody week. You know, what about Heaven? What about Yoro?

36:55

The continued development of Mainu and Sesco and people like that.Great question, Dino.

37:03

Also, Andy Atherton says, if we're not willing to pay the fee for Tonali, then let's move quickly on Hall.

Newcastle will be reluctant to sell Hall if Tonali goes first.Yeah, I forgot to say that, Andy. You're absolutely spot on.I mean, I mentioned this in April about Newcastle. They're not in Europe at all.Financially, they're going to be struggling because they're not in Europe at all.

37:27

And there's lots of players that they've got that people are interested in.So you've got to move quickly. If you want a Newcastle player, you can't wait till July or August, you've got to move now.And Barcelona, well done, they've done it in May.We're now in June.If we did get an indication from Lewis Hall that he wanted to leave, and he told Newcastle that he wanted to leave, and Man United dropped a £50m bid in, we might be able to move quick.

37:55

Because nobody at the moment is moving on to Nali, so you could move really quickly on that one.Horn says, I would go for Alex Scott if we can. He's likely to be cheaper than Fernandez due to the 50 % sell -on clause. So don't see him being sold for less than 60 million pounds, says Horn.Fernandez West Ham has a 50 % sell -on clause with Southampton.I don't know whether Scott's got a sell -on clause because they signed him from Bristol.

38:22

He might have a sell -on clause as well.Suhindren says, Mark, where do you think United will finish in the league if we buy three midfielders and a left back, one left winger and get a striker on loan? Thanks for being a member for 10 months.I think it depends on two things really, who those people are and how Carrick integrates them into the team.I think what I would say is, it's very difficult for me to predict just a very simple, we have to be in the top four slash five next season.Forget the Carabao Cup, forget the FA Cup, forget the Champions League.

39:08

In the Champions League, I want us to get to the knockout stages. If we get knocked out in the last 16 by Real Madrid, We get knocked out by Real Madrid. But, you know, if we can avoid teams like Arsenal did to the final, then maybe we can hit the semis.Carabao Cup, FA Cup, whatever. The most important thing for United next season is that they qualify for the Champions League. And the only way we can do that is by winning it or being in the top five.

39:31

So we've got to be in the top five. The priority for Man United next season is to be in the top five of the Champions League.Let's be real.Yeah, just from Stephen Railsen in the Manchester Evening News, I'd already said this to be fair.He wrote an article about a pot of £263m being available to Man United for players playing in the World Cup.It's a pot.

39:58

It's for everybody. It gets distributed by...So it's not £260m...I think some people have gone, Man United are going to get £260m to spend on transfers.No.FIFA have a pot of £260 million to be allocated to every club who's got players playing in the World Cup.

40:17

So Real Madrid will get some of that.If Everton have got players at the World Cup, they'll get players, they'll get money, and they have got players at the World Cup.So we don't actually have loads of players at the World Cup, to be fair.So I don't know who, I don't know what, there's a question for you. What club has the most players playing at the World Cup this summer?I would bet, I'd say Real Madrid, yeah.

40:43

SCR will benefit us hugely this season.Thoughts to Stretford Signal?I don't know what SCR is.It's probably something really obvious.Emily Derry says, United is a pressure cooker, especially in midfield.Pressure either crushes or creates diamonds.

40:59

So why wouldn't you increase your prospect by getting the best available?Makes no sense.Look, we are a football club, Emily, and you know it as well as I do, that doesn't operate like a team, doesn't operate with an obsession of winning. When Arsenal won that league title a couple of weeks ago, I said the day after, we are now the top five club without a title, the longest.Arsenal last won the league in 2004.They last won it two weeks ago.

41:48

Man City last won it three years ago.Liverpool last won it a year ago.Chelsea last won it sometime in the last decade. We haven't won it for 13 years. So we are the embarrassment. We are the club that hasn't won the Premier League the longest.

42:01

We are the club that's won it the most, but we haven't won it the longest. Now, in every board meeting, if I was Sir Jim Radcliffe, I would be like, look, you're not family, you're my...My obsession is winning the Premier League. It's embarrassing that we haven't won it the most, the longest, right? So if you don't get me a Premier League title, I will sack you. It's really simple.

42:32

You are incentivised to win the Premier League. And if you do not do it, I will replace you with people who tell me they can do it.Simple, isn't it?Oh, it's 2026, Mark. You can't do that.HR says you can't do it.

42:44

It's not fair.Well, fuck HR.We're Manchester United. We must win the Premier League. That's my obsession. That's what you're doing, right?

42:54

That doesn't happen in our bordering.Jason Wilcox could put his hand up and say, I've got no affiliation to Man United.I actually won the league with Blackburn.I played for Leeds and I used to work at Man City.So really, my history is rivals of you.But there's something in me that has realised that I'm obsessed with winning the Premier League with Man United because that's my job.

43:16

To do it, I need to do this, this and this. And the Glazers and Sir Jim would actually say, no, you're not buying players over 26, you're not paying for players over £80 million and we're not paying wages over £200 ,000 a week.End of the lesson. We want to win the Premier League under parameters that stop us winning the Premier League. We don't want to pay wages over 200 grand a week anymore. We don't want to buy players over 80 million pounds anymore.

43:43

And we don't really want to buy players over 26 years of age anymore.Well, I'm sorry, that's going to absolutely...I wouldn't say it prevents us winning the Premier League, but if we run 10 marathons with those parameters, there's a very high chance that we will lose 10 races. We might get away with it once, but it's not sustainable. You can't win a Premier League when you put parameters like that in place. They're ridiculous.

44:11

They're absolutely ridiculous.Imagine that.Man City, you've got to try and win the Premier League without giving anybody more than 200 grand a week. One problem with that, and it's only one, that's literally why we're in court and that's literally how we've won titles over the last 15 years. We pay big money.Well, you can't do it anymore.

Well, we're fucked.Arsenal, you can't win any more Premier League titles by paying over 200 grand a week. Are you having a laugh? It's mad. It's mad.But we have set those parameters in place.

44:42

We don't want to pay big wages anymore. We don't want to pay transfer fees anymore that are big.So that's the problem we've got.I want a board that is obsessed with winning a Premier League. We have a board that wants to win a Premier League but doesn't want to do it Doesn't want to take the steps to do it, you know.I've just been told here that the Man City have the most players at the World Cup this summer with 18.

45:09

Arsenal a second on 15 and PSG a third on 14.So Man City have the most players at the World Cup this summer. Is that a good thing or a bad thing?I don't give a rat's arse, really.Stardust says, why are we so horrible in transfers?I don't think we're horrible.

45:31

I think Cunha's a good signing, Mbermo's a good signing, LeMond's was a great signing, Sesco was a good signing, Joro was a good signing. You know, so five of our last, well, six or seven signings have been decent. The problem is you can make good signings. Are they great signings?Third in the league is good.Top of the league is great.

46:00

Semi -finals of a cup is good.Winning the cup is great. So are we trying to be good?or are we trying to be great? And I think we live in a world of extremities where everything's shit or everything's amazing. And maybe Man United are trying to operate in the world where they avoid extremities.

46:16

Because we have had extremities. We've lost Europa League finals and we finished 15th.We finished 8th.And we've had good. We've finished 2nd.We've won an FA Cup.

46:27

We've won a Carabao Cup.We've won a Europa League. We finished 3rd.The scary thing for me is Has this board figured out that if they avoid extremities, they'll survive forever? And the extremities are being shit, but also being good, which is expensive.Maybe they just want to nestle into third place, you know?

46:47

What about Danilo from Botafogo as a DM replacement?Won't happen, Ashim. If we sign Edison, won't happen. Is United's debt still growing or healing, says Jew?Well, it's definitely not healing.I don't know whether it's growing, but it's definitely not healing yet.

47:04

I would say that. What's this about Scott, Mark?Tune in at 10 o 'clock every morning and eight o 'clock every night and two o 'clock every afternoon on a weekday.Make sure you're subscribing to the channel. The story this morning, and I personally think it's been the most significant update we've had on a show this summer transfer window. An amazing article in The Athletic, David Ornstein involved in it as well.

47:29

effectively saying that Manchester United are in the process of talking about fee and wages with West Ham for Fernandes.Hall is a player of interest if Newcastle decide to sell.Alex Scott is a player of interest and is unlikely to sign a new deal at Bournemouth.Hayden Hackney is not a player of interest for Man Utd at this moment and he's likely to sign today.Edison is obviously advanced. So look, I think they're all good updates.

48:05

I mean, the big absentee is who's the marquee signing, of which there is no update on that. It's more about who the second signing is.But that probably isn't the end of the world, is it?If Edison's done as the third signing, and we're now moving forward on the second signing, who could be Fernandes, Scott, or maybe Bileba, We still know we've got the marquee signing to come. And actually, as I said last night, do you want to sign your marquee signing first, tell everybody how much money you've got and then have to overpay on the others? You're probably better off starting with the cheapest one first, then your middle one, and then you go for your big one, don't you?

48:43

Probably the right way of doing it, if we're being honest.Martinelli for left wing.I do not want Martinelli at Man United HM.I think I've got to say, And you might know this from Nats football.I think Martinelli is one of the most overrated players in the Premier League. It's got nothing to do with the United stand apart from the fact that you said we should sign him for the left wing.

49:06

I think he's massively overrated.I think if he wasn't Brazilian, Harvey Barnes is better than him.Check his passport.Or is this the new breed of Brazilian player?Because I just don't rate him.I don't think Arsenal fans rate him really.

49:21

Remember about four years ago, Martinelli was going to be the next Neymar.Yeah, I mean, the only nay thing about him is, you know, he's probably closer to a fucking horse.Crap, he's absolute crap.I don't rate Martinelli at all.He runs around a lot.If you want, you know, he will, he will track back, actually.

49:42

If you want to hold, you want to hold on to a lead, he will work hard. But no, I don't, I don't rate Martinelli.Arsenal fans don't rate him anymore.Dairyman says, will Ineos thinking mean that we useShaw, Amas, and Leon as left backs next season?Let them play a third of the games each.

49:59

It's the cheap option.Well, we'll get found out, mate, if we do that. We'll be very weak.Canal says, we should go for Nussa. He's very talented.I'm interested.

50:10

You know what?I had this conversation with a Liverpool fan a couple of days ago.And if it happens, you know. They're going to get Iriola.I'm going to do a video on that football straight after this, actually. They're going to get Iriola.

50:24

Here we go.If they get Neusser and Scott, I'll fucking hate it.I really will, because I don't like Liverpool. They're our biggest rival.I do not like Liverpool, but I am fed up over the years of going, that's a good signing. You know, when they got Fabinho, I was like, that's a good signing.

When they got Sboslai, I was like, that's a good signing. When they got Jurgen Klopp, I was like, to be fair, I hope he fails, but he's a decent coach. So I'd love us to get Neusser.I think Nusa and Adeyemi are very, very suited to the Premier League.I think Nusa and Adeyemi are the sort of players that you bring in and they do a, maybe not a Salah or a Hazard, I mean they were Premier League goats I suppose, but I do think Adeyemi and Nusa in the Premier League would do really well, really, really well. But I've not heard Man United doing anything about it.

51:24

You know what?I'm a big fan of Neusor.I spoke about him on the very first Bundesliga watch along at the start of last season in August.Leipzig were playing Bayern and he came on at half time and I said, watch this player. He's a really good player. We won't go for Andy Amey.

51:42

We won't go for Andy Amey.No way.We won't do that.

51:47

Let me have a quick look at the updates. Please do subscribe.to the channel, by the way.Bottom right -hand corner if you are new.

51:52

Appreciate that, as always. If you had the opportunity, says Dino, would you buy Stack from Leeds because he's had a successful season in the Premier League and he's good in the air and can play in the Casemiro role and good at free kicks? No, not really. If I was going to buy anybody from Brentford, I would go for Shada, the left -hand side player, because I think the system that they play And I think he's going to the World Cup with Germany anyway, isn't he?But I don't think he's a player that we're looking at.But yeah, I think it's...

52:31

Sorry, not Brentford, Leeds.Dino, sorry.I don't know why I thought Brentford.Yeah, Stack. No, I wouldn't go for anybody from Leeds.I'd rather go for Ampadu if I was going to go from anyone from there.

52:43

Stack at Brentford's interesting.I mean, they're not in Europe, are they, Brentford?I don't think.Maybe they are.But we're not linked to him anyway.I think the club wants to be ambitious, Daniel.

53:06

But the parameters set in place have obviously come from Sir Jim Radcliffe and the Glazers. And you know what?I don't know why people are scared of calling things out that clearly are happening. And if they're not happening, tell us they're not happening. They are trying to lower the wage bill. They don't want to pay over £80 million for players anymore.

53:28

And they don't want to buy players over 26.And I just think that is, it's almost like saying, catch this, you know, I'm going to throw two balls in the air, catch them, and I'm going to chop one of your hands off.Think about it.Two balls go in the air, two hands, I can do it.Two balls go in the air, I can't do it.And I feel like that's what United are doing.

53:55

They're trying to do something with one arm tied behind their back. It's just, it's not what, when Jack Walker bought Blackburn Rovers, he didn't do that.

54:04

When Abramovich got hold of Chelsea, he didn't do that. When Man City was bought, they didn't do that.

54:12

Arsenal's approach to getting back on top, they didn't do that.So every club that's won the Premier League, or the vast majority of clubs that have won the Premier League didn't do that.We didn't do that. When Sir Alex Ferguson was in charge, if you think about inflation and how much we paid on Rooney and Ferdinand and Van Nisselrooy, in today's market, they're over £80 million and they're over £200 ,000 a week.So everybody who wins the Premier League pays, in today's terms, pays over £80 million for players and pays over £200 ,000 a week for wages. And we won't do it.

54:49

So we won't win the Premier League. It's the wrong mentality to win the Premier League and it will probably get us third. It might get us second, but we won't win the league. And unfortunately, some of our fans are so fucking lost because it's been so long.I don't understand that, that they don't realise what it takes to win a league. Some people think we can win the league because we're Man United.

55:11

That won't work.It won't.But look, what I will say is I am quite happy about some of the players we're being linked to today. It's the marquee signing that's going to be the one that defines this summer.Nobody in the matter said there could be a compromise. There should be a compromise.

55:28

One big signing regardless of age and cost and then you have restrictions on others.Exactly.Exactly.That could work. And that's why the marquee signing will be the interesting one.Who are your five dream signers?

55:40

Says five.I mean, it does change, but if I said to you Tenali as the marquee, Scott, Stiller or Fernandes as the second one.So let's say, let's say Fernandes.Third signing.Actually, it's my dream signing. So Tenali, Scott, Fernandes, Lewis Hall, Noosa.

56:04

Ooh, I'll have some of that.I'll have some of that.Tenali, Scott, Fernandes, Hall, Noosa. And you know what, that's realistic.Dream signings, I could be saying Baruch Skelia and, you know, Kimmich and people like that. That's actually achievable.

56:19

Make sure you smash the like on the video, everybody.I'm just about to drop a video on that football about Areola. That'll be out in about 15 minutes.Stay safe.Take care. And we're back at two o 'clock and I'm back at eight o 'clock.
