General Christopher T. Donahue, Commander of U.S. Army Europe and Africa Submitted Retirement Papers

So, according to a ton of different reports, General Christopher T. Donohue, who's the four -star commander of U .S.Army Europe and Africa and NATO's Allied Land Command, has submitted his retirement papers and is expected to relinquish command on July 2nd of 2026, after roughly 18 months in that particular role.His deputy, Major General Christopher Norrie, will serve as acting commander in the interim.

Now, many of you probably saw at the end of the evacuation of Afghanistan, General Donohue being the last U .S.to leave Afghanistan on August 30th of 2021, because at the time he was the commander of the 82nd Airborne Division and oversaw security at Hamid Karzai International Airport during the chaotic final days of the withdrawal.General Donahue was a West Point graduate, a class of 1992.He had extensive special operations background, including command of Delta Force, like 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment Delta in both Iraq and Afghanistan.And then of course, he commanded the 82nd Airborne from 2020 to 2022.

Eventually he was promoted to four -star general and assumed the duties and responsibilities of USARAF command in December 2024 after Senate confirmation.
