We have to dive right on in because we had some breaking news overnight from Shams Sharania.Yes, Giannis Anstetokounmpo has been traded to the Miami Heat.We knew Giannis would likely be on the move before tonight's draft, and it would come down either to the Celtics or the Heat.And here we are.The Heat now get a champion, the finals MVP, and a 10 -time All -Star.Here's the haul.

Both Giannis and Bobby Portis will head to Miami, while the Bucs get Tyler Hero, Kalel Ware, Jaime Hawkins and Kaspers Yakuchunas.Three first -round picks, including number 13 in tonight's draft.A pick swap in 2030, the 2033 second -rounder.Okay, Steven A., what does Giannis now make the Miami Heat?

Relevant.That's what the word is, relevant.You know, the Miami Heat, for quite some time, that's been the real knock about them.It's like, you have everything here, and I mean everything.And you know, excluding no state income taxes and it was it was just impossible to imagine why it was difficult for Pat Riley and them to get some stars to want to come here.So to pick to pull off getting Giannis a top -five play on the planet as far as I'm concerned, when healthy is a huge, huge deal.

Their team is not fully assembled.They got an abundance of people to add to the roster.This is the Miami Heat.We all know they know how to fill a roster question is, can you get the star and they got them.They got Giannis at the cupo or gazelle.I mean coming downhill coming right at you.

One of the top five players on the planet.Make no mistake about it.And then you think about the thought of pairing him with a bam out of bio.Your defense is going to be elite.Let's not forget.They're getting Bobby Portis along the way who can ball the combination of all of that their frontline essentially is set.

You got to go out there.You got to get some guards.You got to fill your roster.I get all of that part.But definitively speaking, I don't give a damn what road what what pieces they have to fill to make a roster when you look at the Eastern Conference.you've got their NBA—I never thought I'd be able to say this—the reigning NBA champion, New York Knicks, to deal with.

You have the Boston Celtics, still a team to be reckoned with.But I think outside of those two teams, the Miami Heat.is right there when all is said and done.I easily see them as a top three team in the Eastern Conference, obviously, once their roster is assembled.

I don't.I don't.I woke up.I woke up, looked at my phone and went back to sleep.Saw the news and went right back to sleep.You know who else went back to sleep?

With the AC on 60 and a box fan blowing in his face?Jalen Brunson and the New York Knicks.Nobody was scared.This move ain't move or shake anybody.Real talk, we can talk about defense and rightfully so.We can talk about, you know, what Bam and Giannis is gonna look like as far as their defensive impact.

And yeah, they're gonna be one of the better defensive teams.But we saw one of the better defensive teams get their ass kicked in the NBA Finals, led by Victor Nwembe Nyambu.Because you know why?Because you need a closer, perimeter play.You need a guard that's gonna go out there and be able to get money.And I get it, we can say, yeah, they're not done, but what other guy are they gonna go get?

SGA is a guy that showed us two years ago that you need a closer.Jalen Brunson, big -body Brunson showed you how important this year perimeter play was.And so when I think about Giannis, let me say this.Giannis would never win another championship with him being the number one option.I repeat, Giannis Antetokounmpo You heard what I said.Giannis Antetokounmpo...

Oh, my God.No.No, no, no, no, no.Giannis Antetokounmpo...never win another championship with him being the number one scoring option.You can make all the faces that you want, but I'm telling you the real.

When you look at what you need to do, you have to have a guy that's going to come through in the fourth quarter.If you want to go back to the Milwaukee, his Milwaukee championship, Yes, he had the 50 -point game in the closeout game, but leading up to that point, Chris Middleton had a nickname, Money -Makin' Middleton.When you go and look at who was closing majority of those four, hold up.When you go and look and watch and see who was closing majority of those four quarters, Money -Makin' Middleton was getting money.I remember in the conference finals against the Atlanta Hawks, Oh my God.

They sent y 'all home that year. Didn't they send you home that year? Listen, listen, listen, listen, listen. If you ever heard of the word filibustering, because Vinny trying to get at you, I'm trying to get at you. And you sitting up there talking, talking, talking, making the same damn point. If they went to the NBA Finals with those dudes and Jimmy Butler, what do we think they can do with Giannis if Giannis is still healthy and in his prime?I go back to Big Perkz, Kevin Garnett in 2008.He had all those miles on his body from Minnesota.And they didn't make it to the playoffs the next three years, was just enough to get the Boston Celtics over the finish line for that championship.I'm not saying that's the team you have.I'm comparing player to player and I'm saying that the Miami Heat.

I trust Pat Riley and Andy Ellsberg and Eric Spolstra to figure things out.The question is will they have enough resources to go get players because usually it's not at Superstar get championship.Usually it takes a couple of years, but for you to yawn over it perk.I'm not yawning over anything.I'm there a threat and I want to see how they felt the rest of this round.

You might give it to money -making Middleton.He's going to sit up there at the time and he'll deliver the clutch shot.I understand that Giannis isn't a shooter.Giannis is coming downhill all the time.But the reality is the number one option isn't based on who closes with a shot.Even Michael Jordan gave it to Paxson and Kerr from time on a couple of occasions to win a championship for crying out loud.

The point is, who does your game plan?Evolve around when you're going up against Giannis, Anthony Kumpel.Who else are you preparing for when you're going up against a team that he's on?He's that dude top five on the planet when healthy and Pat Riley went and got him and let's give some love to Pat Riley now because I'm sitting here yesterday talking about listen.He needs to go upstairs.Emeritus status.

Let Eric Sposter, not just a coach, but have those GM duties, do what he does or whatever.But Pat Raleigh, the same guy.went and got Alonzo Mourning, the same man that went and got Shaquille O 'Neal, the same man that went and got LeBron James, the same man that D -Wade, even though D -Wade helped him get LeBron James, like it helped him get Jimmy Butler, that same dude went out and got Giannis and the point because you got Giannis and you pairing him with a with a BAM out of bio 21 and 10 Bobby Porter's who is no scrub who can play.I'm sorry.I got to give love where it's due Miami's gonna be top three in the Eastern Conference when all is said and when their roster is full.Top three in the Eastern Conference.

And then say, listen, I'm not mad at y 'all.I believe that Giannis is a top five right now.Greatest power for to ever play the game.And we think he's out of his prime.No, no, no, no.I don't think he's out of his prime.

out of his prime.What I'm saying is, is that that Milwaukee team, that he have not taken anything away from Giannis, but we can't take anything away from how special Chris Middleton and Drew Holliday was throughout that championship run.That's all I'm saying.Giannis is going to do his thing through 82 games.Giannis is going to show up and play at a high level on both ends of the floor.But I believe that perimeter play is so key that you got to have a dude on that perimeter.

You gotta have a dude that could go out there and be a playmaker.Not only getting his, but making guys around them better.When it comes to the clutch, when they was in Milwaukee, the ball was in Chris Middleton's hands, and they was running a two -man action, high pick and roll action, two -man game with Chris Middleton and Giannis Antetokounmpo.And they said, pick your poison.Who is that guy on the heat?And I know that they're not done, but if I'm the Miami Heat, If you're Pat Riley, if you really want to blow me away, and that's a hard thing to do, is to move me, right?

But if you want to blow me away, then I need to see you go out and maybe go get a Kawhi Leonard to add to this.Because guess what?Norman Powell, Norman Powell, S .A., Shea, Vinny, he's a free agent.He cannot take a pay cut.

He cannot.This is his one opportunity to make a bag.

But he is a free agent, but they also have his bird rights.So let's remember that, okay?That puts them in a position to make some things happen.We don't know.You talk about, listen, you got to crawl before you walk, and this ain't crawling.They got Giannis into the compo, man.

You understand what I'm saying?And you got to, listen, there are people who underachieved.We also got to remember Damian Lillard got hurt.Listen, not this year because Damian Lillard is still in Boston, but once his contract is up after this upcoming season,then he'll be free to potentially go to Miami, which is where he wanted to go all along.And he's not expecting to get paid what he once was getting paid.

So the opportunity to have him down the line is no joke.Damian Mitchell is no scrub.I like this kid.

I like him a lot.

But when you have your front line set, And you have the coaching of Eric Spoelstra.And you have a guy like Pat Riley.Again, my issue, my critique for them, if you remember Shea, Vinny, is that...You gotta go get stars.You can't be inside have South Beach.You're sick and can't get stars.

That's not supposed to happen.You understand people are clamoring to be in Miami.How the hell ain't clamoring to be a Miami Heat.That was my concern.The fact that Giannis wanted to go here and he's ended up here dispels all of that.You understand it's over now.

It's about filling a roster.I'll be damned if I don't have faith.and Pat Riley to fill a roster.And remember BAM out of bio, really likable dude, Giannis, Warrior, Spoelstra, Hall of Fame caliber coach.You're going to have some cats that want to come play here.Now, let's not forget that.

I think what we also seen Stephen a and Park is that year to year.There's no real connective tissue anymore.There's only been one team in this era of parody that has gone to the finals more than once.You know, that team is Big Perk, the Miami Heat.Miami Heat.They've gone to the finals twice, but you're the Boston Celtics going to the finals twice one once lost one, but organizational structure matters.

And I think you have if you're going to trust the Celtics to figure out what to do with Jalen Brown in that roster.You also have to trust the Miami Heat to figure out.Okay, they got their star.You get the star first and you worry about the rest.Later.I do want to see what the track does.

I do want to see what the Knicks do as far as James Dolan.saying, we're not going into the second apron.What do you do with Mitchell Robinson?What do you do with Landry Shamit?Like these things are in the words of Stephen a they're fluid.They say this ain't July 1st yet.

June 30th.I want to see what happens tonight in the draft.I want to see everything else, but you can't you're dismissing the heat.

Name somebody.So guess what?One of the most underrated moves that happened yesterday because people are seeing it.was Aaron Wiggins to the Atlanta Hawks because the Atlanta Hawks have been looking at the recipe over the last few years.We gotta go get two -way players and I just don't know if it's a lot of them out there.Maybe he could call Sam Preston.

and make some moves and throw something out there.

Okay, over the last 11 years, outside of three of them, the Heat have either missed the playoffs or lost in the first round.Okay, so this obviously gives them a little bit of boost.I think we can all admit that most every team right now is not completed.Got the draft tonight, we have free agency coming up.Let's go to the other side of this.So now the Heat have Giannis.

What about the Boston Tigers?What about the Boston Celtics?Did Milwaukee make a mistake passing on Jalen Brown?What do you think, Stephen A?

Me personally, I'm going to say no because of the inordinate amount of pieces, you know, that they have.You know, you got a Tyler Hero, who's a shot maker.You have Khalil Ware, who's a seven -foot -two dude that can shoot threes.You got to have Mahaikez.He can play.And you got three first round picks.

That's a lot.And so none of them are better than Jalen Brown.We all know that.But in the same breath, Jalen Brown, MVP candidate, no doubt.Big time player, no doubt.Six conference finals appearances, two NBA finals appearances, NBA champion, and NBA finals MVP, no doubt.

They just got bounced out in the first round.And so if you're the Milwaukee Bucks, having another all -star, as your definitive number one option.Well, hell, you just had that in Giannis.Where did that get you?And so, you have to look at it from a different lens.And I think that's the important part.

You know, there's other things to say about Jalen Brown, but I'll wait to say that after Perk and Vinny answer this particular question.Then I got a few things to say about Jalen Brown a bit more extensively.

Go ahead, Vinny.Well, when you look at the structure of today's NBA, Jalen Brown's going to be up for an extension in a couple of months.Two years, $140 million.The Bucs will be on the hook for that if they wound up taking in Jalen Brown.And are you structured where you can afford a $70 million player if you don't have much else around him, considering Giannis couldn't carry that roster beyond where they were?Granted, Giannis only played 36 games.

They had a lot of questions upheaval, period, right?Draft capital, when you get Tyler Hero, who they can flip, right?Khalil where who's a bit a good young piece.How may hot kids a good young piece plus the 13th pick in this draft that they can flip 13 and 10.You can move up.You can get yourself in a position where you're a lot more flexible.

Now.I think the Celtics got a bigger question to ask themselves.What is our future with Jalen Brown Jalen Brown got to ask himself.What's my future there?Y 'all are y 'all going to offer me this extension.If y 'all do am I going to take it if y 'all don't Y 'all shot me for Giannis Antetokounmpo after I won the NBA Finals MVP, after I carried you to 60 wins this year.

Yeah, the playoffs didn't end the way he wanted it to end, but he's probably feeling pretty unappreciated here.It seems like that's headed for a divorce more so than did the Milwaukee Bucks make a mistake by not taking him.Did the Bucks make a mistake?

No.You gotta get back what you got back from the Miami Heat when you give up a generational player like Giannis Antetokounmpo.Brad Stevens dropped the ball.He didn't make it attractive enough.You gotta throw in some more young players.You gotta find a way to throw in some more picks.

You gotta make that attractive.It can't just be basically somewhat of an even swat for Jalen Brown.That do not cut the mustard, obviously, as we can see.Now, I will say this.It's nothing about Jalen Brown's performance on the floor that's got him in trade talks.It's his damn mouth.

It's his mouth.It's the streaming.It's the podcast that got them ready to move the needle and get Jaylen Brown out of Boston.My thing is, is this, and I've been telling this, and let's say you tell me how you feel about it, damn it, you may feel the same way.As a player in locker rooms,2008, whether it was with Oklahoma City or whatever it was, I'd be down if we had somebody in there podcasting.

You can't trust them.You can't trust them.The trust factor is gone.We don't know if you're gonna say something.We don't know if you're gonna break a secret.We don't know if you're gonna tell something that we didn't have in the film study.

I'm telling you straight up, the things he said after they got bounced about this being the best season was, damn it, basically a shot, a shot at Jason Taylor, in my opinion.

He said it was his favorite season.His favorite season.His favorite season.Favorite season.Let me say this.Let me say this.

We ain't gonna do that.We ain't letting Jalen Brown get away with that.You know, I heard what he said, you know, people doubting him, and you know, that's just creating a monster, whatever, whatever.Who did that this year?You were all world.You were MVP candidate.

We've spent day after day, Shea's a witness, Vinny's a witness, Big Perk's a witness.There isn't a single soul that watched Jalen Brown perform this year and didn't talk about, yo, that brother's one.He's a one.He's shown it, he's proven it.To sign for 300 million, to have this bag, to have the pressure on you that now you don't have to adjacentate him to defer to, you gotta carry it yourself.And we watched you carry a relatively no -name Boston Celtics squad to a number two overall seed and 56 wins.

You understand?We saw you do that.We've given you nothing but praise.Where all of this noise coming from about people doubting you, people doubting you?Nah, bro.That's not what this is because there's nothing about your game that anybody is saying.

Big Perk, if I remember correctly, wasn't it you that went on national television and and said that Jalen Brown was arguably the best two -way player in the entire league.Vinny, didn't you co -sign that and talk about what this brother brings to the table?I know Wendy has.I know I did.I know I went off on a damn referee wanting his ass suspended for ejecting Jalen Brown when he went up against Wimby Yama because we wanted to see that brother go up against Wimby.So don't come with all that noise about his game.

What we said was, since he is hesitant to remind the world about Is that it?a Boston Celtic, the most storied franchise in basketball annals, as a Boston Celtic, who is a champion and an NBA Finals MVP, who has been to six conference finals and two NBA Finals for the most storied franchise in basketball annals, what we said was, less than 24 hours after losing a 3 -1 lead and bowing out in the first round to the Philadelphia 76ers.You went on camera of your own volition and called it your favorite season.That's what we said.That was a problem.And Boston Celtics fans locally and everywhere have been going off about that, and they've lost love for Jalen Brown because they're like, that ain't the standard.

Jalen Brown wouldn't have said that all of those other years.Why would you say that this year while Jason Tatum is sitting on the bench for that game seven when you didn't have his help while Jason Tatum was sitting up there recovering from a torn Achilles throughout the season and missing the first 60 to 62 games.That's why it was your favorite year.You did that bro.Not me not perk.Not KG, not Paul Pierce, not Vince Goodwill, not Brian Windhorst, not Iman Shepard, not Jay Williams.

Nobody did that.Jalen Brown did it.Nobody even asked him.Think about that.Well, like some reporter had him up at the podium, Shay, okay, and sat up there and said, well, was this your favorite season?Nobody asked him.

Let's this.This is not a month later.This is not two months later.This is fresh less than 24 hours after the Boston Celtics franchise was home in the first round, which is something that Jalen Brown had trained him not to be accustomed to experiencing because he was helping to carry them.to the Conference Finals, damn near practically every year.This man went on his podcast and said, yo, it was my favorite season.

He did that.So you can try that noise all you want to, about pointing at everybody else, talking about everybody talking about you.We ain't got nothing but love and praise for your game.What we said was, yo, Boston Celtics fans ain't going to like that one.That's going to come back to haunt you.And that's why Brad Stevens, yeah, it was before then.

They probably figured they weren't good enough.They probably had to make a move.But when you say something like that, under those conditions, what you're saying is what Perk alluded to.I don't want to be 1A.I don't want to be the stepbrother.I don't want to be the little brother or number two option.
