Hermitcraft 11: Episode 13 - FIRE!

Welcome back to the next episode of Hermitcraft. Now, last episode, you might have noticed that it was slightly shorter than all the other episodes. It was about 20-something minutes. That would have been a lot longer, but I had to cut out some things. Do you remember just after we pushed Tango, we had a slight conversation? Well, there was something that was cut out, and it went like this. launch that instead or yeah i don't know pearl has ender pearls everywhere so the theory was if you could get a pearl far enough away that person would end up in the middle of nowhere and not know what's going on turns out there's a very very easy way to do what we were theory crafting

and fortunately for us two individuals have already set it up for us and made it very, very easy. The concept is simple. Using the enderpearls left by impulse and pearl, especially to tackle fires, we can use the breeze rod technology to launch that pearl hundreds of thousands of blocks,, well tens of thousands of blocks away. How do we do that? Well, it's time to green redstone. And on a separate server, I got together with the eggheads

to come up with exactly the best way to do that. And it turns out that it was pretty fun doing the testing. Here's how that went. I had a thought, I had a thought, Etho. I had a thought, and it's a great thought. So we just pushed Tango somewhere, blah blah blah, it was boring, it was nothing.

And then we started talking about how you could get somewhere completely remote without them having any idea how they got there. I now present to you your own machine. I have reversed engineered it. So-huh. So we take that. We take these. What we're proposing to do is use one of Pearl's watchtowers

and launch her pearl a million miles away.

That's so evil.

Okay since that testing session with Etho and gem I have streamlined the machine Just making it a bit easier to look at and less moving parts. Turns out you only really need one dispenser, and I seem to have got down the science behind this. So, after extensive testing, turns out the slab is not the way to go. The way to go is actually a full block, and the reason is this. If I put on F3B, you can see the hitbox, and what was happening is that it was spending too much time going up and not enough time

Going forwards. So the solution is to bring the whole machine upwards and then fire it as straight as possible I've tried most heights of blocks including mud which is ever so slightly shorter than the block so the wind charge will fall here and fire here. So mud or stone, a full block or just under a full block seems to be the way to go. And then for the wind charges, excessive amounts is also the way to go. So I feel confident that I can do this

99% of the time of course, there's so many things that could go wrong, but let's turn it off for now and let's see so One will capture all of these and then you do this Just to put them all in one line now We want to push all of these boxes into one point so that they're not mitigating each other in any way. So you can see the pearl is there in the middle, so it doesn't matter which way you go. I've got a piston here and here, but I think I want all of these

to accumulate on that left hand side. So one pull piston that is in the corner of this, it's going to land there and it's going to shoot the pearl somewhere in that direction. That's the theory. And there it goes. Now, here's a timer to see how long this takes, because it spends a lot of time in the air. Please hold.

Okay. That took nearly 13 minutes. And where did we land? Minus 47,000 and 78,000. That's close to a record for me. So I think I've nailed it, to be honest.

I think I've got it down to a science. And then I think with more maybe more Wind charges we could send her even further, but we have to be careful of lag We only get one shot at this which is why I want to make sure I get this right So I've been I'm gonna test this like three or four more times to make sure I can consistently Get this right now all that's left is to take this to the real server

I already got it handled, that's fine. Alright, that was an excessive amount of Ender Pearl launching. I did not expect to spend the several hours doing that. But hey, isn't it nice when a plan comes together and works out in so many ways. Alright, let's do some real work. Let's put some more terrain in. Are you ready?

Okay, you're gonna have to forgive me for speeding through the terrain process as quickly as I can, because I desperately just want to skip to building the structure. It's been brewing in my mind. And on one of my side quests recently, I was in Rome in the country of Italy and I literally stumbled across a building That looks remarkably similar to what I'm trying to achieve Here's a picture of it. I can't remember what building it was, but I was like well

I like what's going on down at the bottom. It kind of has a square base and My original design over here was going to be an octagon of some kind that nestles in this giant hole here. But again, I don't really want to start this until the entire thing is complete. And in order for that, I need to pick up more of these blocks. So I think next episode we'll be done with this and then can move on to building a real structure here. I spent 90% of this episode

pranking Pearl, but quite a lot of time went into speed building this. Probably the same amount of time, which is crazy because one took most of the episode, the other took seconds of the video. That's just the way it goes. And I've come to another unfortunate conclusion. Now if you did watch my process on where this is going This is just the island that the observatory is going to be built on There's an awful lot of terrain around the outside. That's not what I'm worried about what I'm worried about is the river

Actually to raining in the river and then leaving water underneath I actually believe that the best way to deal with this, and I've come to this unfortunate conclusion, is to drain the entire thing. That might be a stream activity, and you might just see that appear at some point. We also might need to get ourselves a whole bunch of sponge, because I don't think 25 is going to cut it. So yeah, you have to create- I've drained many, many an ocean, many a river

in my time, and it's quite a gruelling task, but you basically just do this. You create little squares, put in your sponge, water gone, and rinse and repeat. But for now, that will have to do.
