Hermitcraft 11: Episode 14 - BAD BASE TOUR!

Welcome back to the next episode of Hermitcraft, where I really, really want to get started on some actual building. None of this Axiom, Lightmatica nonsense. I want some good old fashioned structure being built right here, which means we need to finish all the Axiom Lightmatica nonsense. So I have actually done quite a lot, and we are going to finish the job.

We're gonna go and finish all this path. That shouldn't take very long at all. But I thought, while I'm at it, I might as well drain this river. Which, in itself, is quite a mammoth task. But not to worry, this is why we have extremely upbeat music to listen to while you skip ahead. I know some of you do it, not everyone watches the time lapses. Now, before we can do that, I'm gonna need sponge. I have

about 20-ish sponge. When I checked, I put them in here. Okay, I have one sponge. Okay, if I were Grian, where would I put the rest of that sponge? Think! If I were Grian, I would put them somewhere in here, okay? And I'd probably put them right here! Here! I'd put them right here! With the dirt of course! Welcome to my mind. It's gonna be a bit of a boring task for me, but thankfully you get to watch it in 30 seconds, I get to do it for several hours. It's as easy as that. I'm gonna be using the sponge to soak up all this lovely river juice. Okay, this is why we do this a bit better than I've done it. OK, so I managed I managed to make that the worst use of sponge ever. See this. This is why I need more sponge, because this ain't going to cut it.

I've preferred to go for bigger pools and and then just use as much sponge as I need. So we need to go and dry this sponge out immediately. Which takes a while. So we need some more working sponge to work with. Now we could go and get some more from the ocean temples, the monuments in the ocean. Ow. Now if I know Grian, he will do the hard work. Now it's not easy finding things in Impulse's base, because it's not always

where it says it is. Now would he have made an entire chest just for sponge? Doesn't look like it. Okay. So if I were Impulse, where would I put my sponge? I'd put it with the monument stuff, which would be... marine? Uh oh. Ah, look at that. Just as the sun sets and the fireflies come out, and everything goes peaceful, I'm gonna play some funky music. Well, that was one heck of a leap in progress. Not only did we drain the river, which took a mind-numbingly long time. We've got the path and we have finally got the foundations of the octagon-shaped observatory. But I'll be honest with you, it's quite hard to enjoy this build when the space around it looks so horrendous. I don't mind not doing these bits, but this is making it very hard to enjoy. So I have been farming away at a ton of all the different planks that I'm going to need.

They are in this chest here, and it's been going pretty well. You may notice that my inventory is now full of string and sticks and books. But why? Well, yet again, Tango's AFK. And it's the kind of time of day where I think we've got time to mess with him. So we'll employ the the time of the only other person on the server who I'm sure will be down for it.

We're going to try and move Tango again. But this time, we why don't we just use fishing rods? I think it'll be easier, and there's a very easy way to get pearl to come to you

That's because we all live in meadows. It's just meadows the entire way. Do a portal to the overworld. One of us goes through, one breaks the portal on the nether side and rebuilds it on the roof basically. We could do that and that'll stop you from having to go through terrain.

That's easy enough. That would probably save a lot of time in the long run. So take him through the overworld, right, and go with him. And then what's going to happen is I'll break the one on this side, I'll rebuild another portal on the roof so that the portal in the overworld is connected to the roof. Oh, using big brains. Okay. Time to get back to base building. Back to the grindstone. The dirt grindstone. Well... Oh, this is not pleasant to look at, not the face, the fact that it's flashing. You'll just have to enjoy this view. Okay, so I need a lot of mud, and I've prepared a lot of everything else. I'll be honest with you, I really, really want to crack

on with my base build, but I think it will be a lot better if I get the river done first and then I can truly, truly focus on the structure of this thing. Ignore the water bottles, I was using the wrong shovel. Apparently when no one else is on the server, even an iron shovel is too fast. Well anyway, let's have a look. So this amount of mud, I think probably I can just take this and see how far I get with it. I've got pretty much everything else that I need, and as much as I really didn't plan on just doing even more terrain, this is the last part of the terraining process for now.

Once I've done this river up to here, up to the shoreline, then I'm done terraining for a long time, because I can then focus on the structure, and this whole thing will look nice. I'll ignore all the rest of the terrain for future Grian's problem. But today's Grian problem is the one that I've created myself by draining a river and then putting back the river. Hey, I'm an idiot.

All right, let's start building some of this. Ready? For another time-lapse. Let's go! Okay so we've hit our very first predictable snag. I've run out of materials. I've run out of mud and I've run out of sand. And the other thing that has happened is I've hit this part, which turns out needs a lot of things removing from it. A lot of this landscape here actually needs, like, pushing back a bit,

just so I can fit the beach in. This does not spark joy. However, the progress that we have made does spark joy. There's Etho.

Okay, I'm gonna go do this. I've got some leftover sand, so I'm gonna go and investigate this, because I find that hard to believe that one TNT gets you two stacks of sand.

Okay, so while I get mud, I kind of maybe forgot that there's a giant server tour going on right now. And I'll have to do my segment very soon to a lot of people that are live. But what's worse than that is I've realised they're going to Joel's base any second and I filled his house

full of dried gasks. So I gotta see that. And if you're wondering what this world tour is about, well, we've got a charity event coming up. We've done it for the last couple of years where we're hosted by a charity called Gamers Outreach. They make these go-karts, well they're called go-karts, for hospitals. They're basically these stands with video game consoles on them and they go in hospitals for the kids that are bored out of their minds going through some stuff.

And they're able to play some video games to escape whatever they're going through at the time. It was really cool, we did it last year, I did Hermit Master Live and I'm doing it again this year as well.
