Hermitcraft 11: Episode 21 - HE KNOWS.

Welcome back to Hermitcraft.It's episode 21, and I am absolutely in decision paralysis because I have several things I could do, but I don't know which one to do.Allow me to present the options.Now, last episode, we completed the exterior.And every time I look at it, I think I like it even more.But from here, we can pivot to quite a few different projects.

One, we can, where I'm standing, could be the top of the most awesome waterfall utilizing sulfur blocks.I've already mapped it out and figured out how it's going to work.That is an option.Number two, we take the inside of the observatory and we actually make the telescope and the telescope room.Third, we add some industrialization to underneath the island.I want to create a sulfur farm, a sugarcane farm, a mob farm maybe.

This is all things that will help me in the long run.But for that, I will need to dig a big old hole.And then, finally, a shop.A big old egg shop.Literally an egg.It will sell eggs, and only eggs, and maybe something behind the scenes.

It would be my prank shop.called only yokan so you can see why my mind is so split because those all of those options to me sound like really good things to do but i think it's time probably to make the telescope and do some of the interior of the build and to make this work i think we should put on our builder eyes let's take a look under the hood let's open it up and take a look at what we want to do so let's open it up.Here is the cross section of the build.So,what I'm thinking.So my main thought is this is where the pedestal is gonna be.

This is where little Grian's gonna stand.That's me.Hello.And then we're gonna extend the telescope here so that I can look into it.But obviously this room is not looking super good.So what I want to do is is basically have almost a bubble within here and I'm gonna do some really fancy work from a suggestion that I had from another creator where it creates this sort of like magical starry scape around it.

and then obviously a floor that goes here.So that's the main room.Then we have this room.So we've got three sections of this.We've got our observatory room, the staircase room, and the down below.Now in this central bit, I want to have kind of a planetarium.

So we'll have, I don't know, a worldly style one.I don't know if it's going to be square or spherical yet, but let's just pretend that there's like a big planet here, and then we'll have a bunch of other planets and things around as you go up and around with lots of light.I don't know how much I can fit in here but something like that and then their staircase will work its way all the way around until there's like a little ladder that goes up into the observatory.Then I think we have a full floor in here and down below I would like my portal here.Maybe all of these portals.I'm not gonna do this bit yet, but this could be really cool.

And I think it could be just a drop down into here situation, just a hole in the ground.Don't need a staircase.And then as I mentioned earlier, all of this can be industrial going right the way down to bedrock.All my farms can be there as long as they stay loaded.So this is the cool part.This is how I want to break all of this up.

Man, these builder eyes are really good.It's almost like you can, you can edit in the real world using your imagination.Alright, so let's take ourselves inside the observatory.Now, in my mind, this thing is kind of building itself.We've got this line that goes here and this makes sense to be our flooring.Then, we've got ourselves the central pillar point.

This is where I stand.Or roughly.I think it makes sense if we start with the actual telescope, extend that down to where it should be.Ooh, I'm excited to do this room.Okay, so I've got myself the telescope.It looks pretty cool.

I agonized for a little while if it should stop dead in the middle, but I'll be honest with you, I think not only does it look kind of cool that it goes to here, it just sort of makes sense in the room, but the main thing is when you're actually standing where I am now, and I am here with the view of the telescope, being able to see more of the dome i think is better you only see like this much when you're that much more further forward so why don't we take a look inside the telescope for the very first time and see what's happening what is that directly outside my telescope.So genuinely, I did go in this room to build the telescope.I built the telescope.When I logged back in, that was genuinely there.So it feels like the timing of this couldn't have been more insane.Oh my god, I think he knows who's been placing those dried ghasts everywhere.

that joel thought this was going to be as effective as it has done because wait so yeah what is the vibe with this i got stuck i don't know why he's done it mate but it's it's got a ton of gas in there that got me stuck i doubt he expected that to happen and now i've made it rain blocks everywhere like it's just it's current it's actively making more mess It does seem to be producing, it's like distributing the mess.

I've seen a sheep As much as I want to include all two hours of is that sheep looking at me card game, I've actually just playedon the second channel and there's a link in the description if you want to go and watch the whole thing long story short it's a card game about mixing up sheep and you have to burr to pass your turn and I got really into the burrs so we continue playing we played about four rounds and etho won pretty much all of them because i kept losing coin tosses that sheep is not looking at me okay i'm gonna say that sheep is looking at me no it's not it was that sheep's looking at me it's staring me in the in my soul i don't think it is dude are you serious this game is just chance okay that sheep is not looking at me though oh my what a guy do you have a reflex yes green yes that sheep is looking at me you know in fact i think i need to talk to someone about this and then he asked me if i had another reflip card and he knew that i didn't great okay and i'll be honest i don't know what you're talking about no no you're right mumbo i can beat him i i will be in he can't you're right you always know what to say what that was oh yeah i forgot about this i've been playing i've been playing the sheep game for so long that i forgot about this all right let's clear up this mess

Man, this is actually taking longer than I thought to clean up.And the fact that it partially burnt has made it even more difficult because there's just lots of random floaty bits.Joel used so many resources for this.Like, I'm talking stacks and stacks of stuff.I guess I reap the benefit of having to clean this up by gaining all of this.But I've nearly cleared away now, out of the telescope.

I think it's fair to say, lore -wise, I'm allowed to use the telescope now.It's honestly a bit of a shame the fire didn't do more damage.In fact, why did we want the fire department at all?I actually wanted this thing to burn as much as possible.The wool is probably giving me the most headache.Okay, as you can see, there's a few people that are online right now.

Gemmexxb.So let's do what we always wanted to do.do some watching.Let's take a look at what X is doing.Yes, just AFK in his storage room.The telescope sees all.

Okay, now let's see what XB is up to.Somehow both of them are AFK in their storage rooms.Well, I am enjoying using this telescope.It's, um, it's just got something about it.Okay, so let's continue working on this room.Now, an awful lot of things really do need to happen here before I can continue the work as it stands.

Well, I need to get a floor in here, but a few months ago now, a YouTuber called Obsidian Mace uploaded a video called the hermit's craft bench and darkness is a tool and it was definitely like building on the uh the warden stuff that i did with the nautilus course in myhow it could be used I also in build and seek I also used the wardens to great effect using the darkness but at the end of that video he suggested something really quite cool it didn't use the warden but it was an idea specifically uploaded to tell me about an idea for this room which is transparent maps basically what he did and there's a link to the video down below is he made some transparent maps with stars on them and used light in a very cool way to make them twinkle.So I need to know before I fill this rather large room with invisible maps whether it's going to work or look good.So for that, I will naturally have to head over to my private server to give this a test.There's no way I am doing all of that work for this giant room and it not come out okay.For a start, I kind of like the way that the purple is dripping.

Maybe there's other ways that I could use this idea, but all of those things are going to need some testing.Okay, so I've got my old copy of the Hermitcraft server.You can tell that some things are definitely outdated.And here I have edited out a huge chunk of the world because this is how you make an invisible map.All you do is create a large sheet of glass.like so then you make the map and then you paint on top of it so when you put down an item frame with a map in it so when you put this map on the item frame as you can see it is transparent on the hermitcraft server we can then remove uh the item frame holding it and you're left with a transparent picture so the main thing is um how do i do these uh these stars i was uh as you can see trying to draw a star

up with a design I don't think I need to overthink it in all honesty I think I can do stuff as simple as like this I just need like twinkly twinkly stars that aren't quite perfect like that yeah I basically need to create a bit more variation and I definitely need to spread this out Also, this will appear on just one block, so these pixels will end up looking really quite small.You know, I'll be like back here, so these stars will all look, I think, relatively on the small side.And that's kind of what I'm going for, right?I need them to be small.And I will need to avoid repeating patterns as well.What if I just did like a, just a very basic one there.

If I now take this inside my mock -up version of the observatory, I can do a quick test.So I kind of have my platform around here, and then what I would need to do is make sure that it's completely covered in tinted glass.So no light can get through.So I think this mainly worked because it was a black on black background.So why don't I just do a theoretical attempt?Okay, so I've had to do quite a lot of work here to get a test running.

And I was really ready to be putting this in Hermitcraft, but there's a few issues to overcome first.Here's my test.I basically had to turn everything into black concrete.I currently have gamma on, so this is what it would look like normally.And effectively, I've got one set of glass and the back concrete here, and then there's lights that are lighting it up.Now, normally these would sort of flicker on and off like these are, and that is what generates that twinkling effect.

The issue, really, is if I turn gamma off in here, one, you can't really see it.It's not very bright.anyway, but when this makes it eventually to a YouTube video, it's gonna be even worse.So I can either make the stars bigger, Or I can do something else.This has tinted glass here, and I did wonder whether if we just remove this, if it even needs that at all.The floor does light up a bit.

The idea of the tinted glass is to stop the floor lighting up, but if it's made of black concrete anyway, you mainly just get this twinkling effect.That's what we're trying to create here, this sort of like sparkle from the stars.but I'm not quite sure that it's landing the way I want it to, which means it needs a lot more experimentation, probably more than this video can do.Also, I will say, this is a huge amount of item frames and maps and resources and concrete maybe i just need to start scaling things down a little bit i can bring this black concrete probably all the way to here and you probably wouldn't notice that much i also wondered do i even need the glass i think there's just there's a lot of questions here for example am i gonna get a good enough effect just from the black concrete and remove the lights here and just keep the lights from behind.I think I might need to just stop over -engineering this, change up the stars, create just a big dome inside of black concrete, add the stars, add these hidden lights, and honestly, I don't think it needs to be much more than that.So, now that we've, uh, had a little look at what that looks like, you can tell that there's a lot of black concrete that needs to go in here, but is this at the expense of this crying obsidian, you know?

Is - is thisreally the best way to?Create the effect because this crying obsidian in here was a bit of a surprise Really, it was a bit of a it was a bit of an unexpected pleasant surprise So I've definitely got some decisions to make right before we go.Why don't we have a look and see what?Cub is up to not look doesn't look like he's up to much.All right.

What about pearl?What's going on here?She's got two identical bases.What on earth has that girl been up to?This is such typical Pearl behavior.I don't even know which one was the original.
