Hermitcraft 11: Episode 3 - THE CAKE LADDER!

Welcome back to the next episode of Hermitcraft. It is episode 3 and it's close enough to Christmas that I got my Christmas skin on. I have been a bad YouTuber because I basically didn't want to make videos, I just wanted to work on my bass. And that's not good because it means I've skipped a step. I built quite a lot in there. I did time-lapse it, but I didn't do any of the recording around it. So, I mean, here's a quick overview of what I've been doing. Yeah, I have worked a lot on this particular room.

This is my Magic Amethyst trading room, and I really, really like it. We've got all of our traders here, all of the important books, and a bit of redstone, glowstone, glass. But I want to finish off this room in particular. But the big one is putting something here. And I know what I want to put here.

It's an iron farm. An iron farm is going here. Now I don't know if this is actually that suitable for an iron farm. Because iron golems can spawn probably up here if I'm not careful I will need to work really hard to figure out how this How many times is that gonna happen? I'm gonna have to I think I'm gonna build the farm

Something slim and vertical and simple. Oh my gosh And then I'm gonna try and like spawn proof the spots where they're not supposed to be spawning. And then through sheer trial and error I think we will get what we're after. As much as I would love to learn to do my own redstone for this, I will be doing a little bit of my own redstone for this. But for the actual farm, there's really not much point trying to reinvent the wheel. There's only so many ways you can make an iron farm, and this is one of them. So, we're gonna go ahead

and smash this out straight away, get an iron farm going, because I want to work on the real green redstone, which is why there's a hole here. I basically want a water column, and I want the iron to, like, trickle up. I want a super animated room in here We've obviously got our melon and pumpkin here doing their work. This is like animated. We've got our villagers So it would be really cool if there was lots of moving parts here. We've got the particles So this is the next bit in my eyes for us to do. So let's get this over with. Let's go!

Okay well, the Iron Farm is built. And as expected, it doesn't work. Straight away, it doesn't work. Well, it doesn't, it doesn't, it doesn't. We can set it off in motion now. I actually kind of wanted to wait one night so that these guys would sleep. I just want them to lock in that it's a village. Okay, so the bit of redstone that I want to do is... Well, it's pretty simple.

But they're cute. The key is I think you need to have a storage room set up and then unleash the golems.

That was an hour. That took an hour. I theorize that it would have been quicker for me to sort this stuff myself and probably do a better job That it was a little bit successful, but I I think that we did most of the work Also, I'm fairly sure I had more copper golems in this there were way more. I don't know where they've gone I don't know whether scars done something to them don't know whether Scar's done something to them. There's one up here for some reason now.

They just seem to have gone for a walk. And I don't know where. We've done pretty well this episode. Look, I've got enough iron to probably sort me out for most of the season, which is really, really good. Now I've turned my attention to this side of the building because I

Realize something I'm gonna need cake quite a lot of cake this season and Not for the reasons you think no it's not not ethos birthday. I've Handled the chickens chickens easy, but we're gonna need a cow and I figured I might as well get a sheep while we're at it.

So, let's just pop upstairs and grab one of each. I basically decided that we're gonna use cake technology to circumvent this route to the top. I don't have an elytra yet, and I don't really intend on getting one just yet blimey when did mumbo become a better builder than me seriously when did mumbo just become the best at everything look at that look at the look at the framing it's not just how good the build is the framing of this shot is incredible mumbo i I I love you, buddy, but you're getting a little too good. Well, that never happens. And the redstone for one of these is so simple, even I understand how it works. This observer detects when this has been eaten. It sends a signal into that, and then it shears the sheep, and then it's collected into this chest. I mean, even an idiot like me and my stupid redstone skills,

even I understand how this works.

Okay, so we've got eggs. Let's get as much milk as we can. It's actually kind of crazy that you can just...

Like a normal human being, I'm going to be making a cake ladder. A very time-consuming, very important cake ladder. So basically what you do is you eat one slice of the cake for each notch upwards. And eventually you get to the point where we get all the way out of the cave. And this is a much faster method than going all the way up there. I can only use my horse. And you might be wondering, Grian, why aren't you just using a bubble elevator?

Well, that's because... So I'm going to craft up a bunch more cake. It's a I mean, it's really a lot of cake that we need. Have you ever seen so much milk in a man's inventory before? What possible reason would someone need this much milk in a man's inventory before. Like, what possible reason would someone need this much milk?

Okay, so, starting to hurt myself. Uh oh. I hurt myself too much. Okay, thankfully the fire was out so I didn't lose any of my stuff. Ooh, our first sheep! Right, this will just steadily be gathering, which is good. Right, so, can't just walk up this. So to get to this one we've got to start doing cake parkour. Okay, so this is one block.

This is pretty steep. This isn't technically the steepest you can get, but this is pretty good. This is about as good as it gets for vanilla, I think. We've've gotta eat a lot of cake before we can get to the top of this. Now how- just how much further have we got to go? Because I think it's a lot. So if we look up...

So, this is one lot of cake. Two lots of cake, three, four- we've got a long way to go and probably some lava to deal with. Let's do a quick demonstration. We take our horse and we just run. Straight up.

It literally, I just, I just haven't gone anywhere. I haven't left this this house I'm getting genuinely cabin fever II all I've done well. I've done loads of good stuff today. I've Obviously made the iron farm. I've added a bunch of very simple animal stuff here and

Of course I ate so much cake that it's ascended me to the next level Genuinely lots and lots of build work has been done to the base today. And that has left me absolutely itching to get out of here. So while this episode was an entirely base building one, next episode, I think I'm going to do a very early tour of the server. I'm going to go and have a look at everyone's bases check in they may or may not be there
