"His Ego..." Mark Carney's Trade Disaster | America Isn't Holding Back Anymore

I think Carney has made it personal.I think it's political malpractice for the Prime Minister of Canada to pit politically himself against any president.I don't care what the president is, who the president is, what party they represent.It's political malpractice.

Oh Canada, the land of debt, MOUs and doubling down on everything that fails instead of what's proven to work.Yep, Mark Carney gave one of the weirdest Canada Day speeches I've heard in a long time, and the media coping about it is next level.I'm Jasmine Lane, like, share, subscribe, comment your thoughts down below, hype this video if you have any left, and I'm pretty sure if they have to gaslight you this hard that it's a good idea.It's probably not a good idea.And that explains why this press conference made absolutely no sense.

There's one piece that I want to be clear about.This agreement doesn't require us to support any pipeline proposal from Alberta.However, as I've said before, we recognize our constitutional position and we do not have the authority to stop a new pipeline.We will not be going to court to fight a pipeline project.Instead, we will ensure we fulfill our constitutional obligations in good faith.Pipelines are federal jurisdiction.

That's why this agreement matters.It ensures that the Northern Tanker Ban stays in place.And it ensures that if a pipeline goes ahead, that British Columbians are fairly compensated for the environmental risks we would take on any new pipeline project.

We are going to pick apart this memorandum of understanding a little bit more in depth, but I did think it is very, very notable to include a pattern of which I have spoken of dozens of times here, which is the fact that this was billed as an energy and trade infrastructure MOU, an agreement on tanker bans, pipelines, carbon markets, all of that fun stuff.

We have secureda commitment to keep the northern tanker ban firmly in place, protecting British Columbia's pristine northern coast and the $2 billion plus economy that relies on it.

I think the north coast ban is ridiculous.American tankers travel through those same Pacific waters all the time.from Alaska to the U .S.West Coast.So why does Mark Carney believe it's safe for our American tankers carrying American oil from Alaska to California is safe, but it's not safe for us to send Canadian oil over to Asia through the same passages?

And hidden in it, and this is the pattern that's important, was $630 million for childcare in British Columbia.That has absolutely nothing to do with energy, or even our economy in a positive way.It has nothing to do with pipelines.And why do they do this?Well, because it makes the announcement look that much more generous.It also gives David Eby a wonderful scapegoat.

If his base starts complaining about anything that is inside of this MOU, he can then point to see, look, We got $630 million for child care, guys.I'm so nice.I know.Gosh.You're welcome, everybody, for making this economy so unbelievably unproductive that you guys actually need the federal government to pay for your child care now because you can't do it on your own.I did that.

Thanks.For the Prime Minister, but the Premier might want to weigh in as well.On the pipeline, are you still prepared to pursue it over the objections we've heard from the men standing next to you?

Well, two things.One, I'll just repeat what I just said in French, which is that more detailed discussions of the pipeline I think are best kept to later today.I will have it in availability with the Premier of Alberta.Secondly, I'll refer backto the Premier's comments, which recognize the constitutional arrangements in Canada, which recognize a good -faith undertaking, but also...

I'm sorry, in what world is it good faith to sign an MOU only after you are promised hundreds of millions of taxpayer bailouts in various sectors?That's not very good faith at all.That's called a quid pro quo, actually.

recognize a series of expectations around any proposed pipeline, the tanker ban remaining in place, proceeding with carbon capture associated or other emission reduction measures associated with that, and full partnership and consultations, partnership over time with First Nations, so Section 35 equivalent partnership.

I do think it is important to pay attention to the fact of the fine print versus what was publicly announced today because the MOU and this press conference was all about ports, jobs, prosperity, pipelines, right?However, the reality within the text here is actually about the vehicle to introduce a national carbon credit system that reaches into individual consumer behavior, which of course was disclosed absolutely nowhere in public remarks from either the premier or the prime minister.Not one person stood on a podium today and said, oh, P .S., we're also planning on building the framework where your EV purchase generates a tradable credit, which is going to make the elites of the world incredibly wealthy, those of which Mark Carney runs in the inner circles.He wrote an entire book about it.

He gave a speech about it back in 2015, actually, which we talked about on an episode a couple of weeks back.I do think that it's very, very importantthat the direct carbon pricing that whole thing became too politically costly to defend as a headline policy, which is why the Carney government.repealed it.They walked it back.They moved it to zero, right?

So now they're trying to advance the very same thing that the public is rejecting, that other nations are rejecting, and they've hidden it inside of all of this.So that is some very clever packaging for the exact same thing.So when people tell you, oh, Mark Carney, he's walking back all of his climate change things.No, he isn't.He's just very sly.And he's very sneaky about making sure that everything he wants, that the public would reject, continues to go forward while the public, who mostly does not read these press conferences, fair enough, life is overwhelming, has no idea of what's coming.

Mark Carney will hold another announcement in Alberta regarding a potential future pipeline.To start with, let me congratulate the great Danielle Smith for continuing to fight for Alberta and its oil and gas sector.She's been up against a lot.The Liberal Party, at the instigation of their then -economic advisor Mark Carney, waged all -out war on our oil and gas sector for over 10 years.Mark Carney tries to distance himself from those policies.in his rhetoric, but the reality is that he was the worldwide champion of it.

He was the head of the UN agency seeking to shut down oil and gas.He was the head of a banking alliance seeking to defund the oil and gas sector.He advised Trudeau that the carbon tax needed to be bigger and broader.He opposed the Northern Gateway pipeline, which would be delivering a half million barrels of oil to the West Coast today, had the Liberals not killed it.And so now he claims that he's changed his mind, that he was wrong all along.Well, if that's the case,

then why hasn't he eliminated C -69, the anti -development law?Why hasn't he eliminated the ban on shipping oil off the northwest coast of British Columbia?And why is he going ahead with a 500 % increase in the industrial carbon tax.A tax that will not only drive up the cost of food and homes, but will drive billions of dollars out of our country, south of the border, where they pay no carbon tax whatsoever.We don't need more taxes.We need more jobs.

more affordable prices for industry and people.And we know that the consequences of these policies have been to make Canada more expensive.Food prices rising over 4 percent, the fastest in the G7.They've been doubled since Carney took office.Rents are up 3 .5 percent.Gas prices I've been up 33 percent.

And even if you exclude gasoline, which has been affected by the war, we see prices are rising for everything else.

And as Rosie writes, so Mark Carney just signed an MOU with British Columbia that keeps a tanker ban in place on the West Coast after signing an MOU with Alberta to build a pipeline to the West Coast.WTF.

So the U .S.has indicated it will not agree to a clean extension of Kuzma, triggering annual reviews, as we heard there, instead of an immediate renewal.Your reaction?

Look, we've had this coming hurtling toward us for a very long 15 months.This has been a negotiation that has been underway and the cost of waiting has come at the price of millions of Canadians, millions of people who work in our auto sector, our lumber sector, our aluminum sector, our steel sector.There's no certainty for business investment.A lot of businesses are incapable of planning, of planning payroll, planning their budget, planning for growth.this uncertainty has been intolerable and we've seen the government's response.a wait -and -see approach.

Mark Carney and Dominic LeBlanc have taken a wait -and -see approach for the balance of the last year, rather than bringing the intensity that is required to negotiate a deal with COSMA.And in doing so, discovering in the context of recessionary and economic flatlining numbers that have been posted in the last quarters, the urgency to try and negotiate with America.You saw the Prime Minister go to New York to try and talk about how Canada can be built strong to make America great again.He's reversed a lot of the main positions he's ever taken.In fact, he's taken both sides of so many positions, it's hard to know what his vision or his negotiation tact is.This indecency is intolerable for Canadian industry, for Canadian workers, and Conservatives are ready for a plan for a serious government that is ready to meet the moment with the intensity it deserves.

So, Mr. Mujumdar, Prime Minister Mark Carney has said that he was not going to sign a bad deal.That's what he said earlier this week.So tell me, how would the conservatives have handled this differently?What do you want to see done on Guzma?

Listen, I think every Canadian understands that the negotiation is unpredictable.The president's negotiating positions are unpredictable.Those are things that we stand with the government in negotiating through day in, day out.But the big decisions we need to make about our own country's sovereignty and our own capabilities is about reanimating our industrial base.It requires advancing an auto pact with North America that would see the increase of production between Canada and the United States.on autos.

It requires us considering how to reanimate a defense industrial base in our country.It means unlocking our resources with shovel -ready projects, pre -approved energy corridors, and six -month permitting and pursuing an ambitious program to actually get our resources to market as quickly as possible.It requires capital.And for capital, our country is not stableenough for capital to be invested in production of energy or in the sectors that are impacted because we have not secured a preferential access trade deal for the United States.A lot of the things that we should be doing right now are within our domain.

We should be moving as quickly as possible rather than being enshrouded by bureaucratic layer and red tape and only seeing progress being made by inches rather than the leaps and bounds that the economy and our workers require.

So while we have you, what would you want the next steps to be?What do you think that Dominic LeBlanc's immediate next steps should be on Kuzma?

this is Canada to at least bring that same level of intensity to negotiating with the United States.I think the Prime Minister has spent more time in other capitals than focusing on the United States trade deal.The wait and see approach must be replaced with the hurry up and get it done approach.That doesn't mean making a bad deal.It means negotiating on the issues that we have around KUSMA, on issues around tariffs that are outside of KUSMA for the benefit of our workers and moving at speed to get that done.

I think Carney has made it personal.I think it's political malpractice for the Prime Minister of a Canadian, you know, of Canada to pit politically himself against any president.I don't care what the president is, who the president is, what party they represent.It's political malpractice.Canada is dependent upon the U .S.

economy.That's just a fact, right?That's not hubris.That's not something that Canada can do.needs to be concerned about is not something Canada can change.The fundamental fact is geography wins out.

Canada is located where it's located.They can't move shop.They can have a week economy that is underperforming and not doing well, and Carney can feel superior, or they can have an economy that participates with, as a partner of the U .S.economy, and Carney can do what a grown -up should do, which is figure out, figure it out, and come like President Scheinbaum and decide that the United States and Canada will have a positive economic relationship.It's my job as a person who's supposed to protect Canadian jobs, Canadian citizens, and the Canadian economy, to not let my ego and my feelings dictate what's best for my own economy.

Proving that together, we can give ourselves far more than anyone can take away.Look, there will always be forces that want to divide us, but they forget a founding insight of our country, that unity is not uniformity.That our differences are strengths to be nurtured, not risks to be managed.That our values serve as our unshakeable foundation.that no one can take away.Inclusivity, sustainability, solidarity.

Yikes.Classic fear mongering from Mr. Carney.I'm so tired.I'm really embarrassed by how frequently he portrays Canada as just this sorry little victim.We're just a country that things happen to.Yeah, no, we're not, actually.

We are a country who has not actually discovered what we are worth yet, because for the last decade plus, you've been trying to take that away from us.We sit on some of the largest natural resource reserves in the world.Things don't happen to us.Trust me on that one.In fact, if we wanted to, we could be everything.But we don't want to.

That's the problem.And Jamil Javani actually gave a brilliant analysis of this.

These are serious issues.And every dollar that you see going out of our own borders, while the people who served in our military struggle, while the lineups at emergency rooms continue to get bigger, you deserve better.and the way we get to a place where you know you deserve better and your friends and your neighbors and your family also expect better.is to first start with being proud of who we are.

And I thought this was interesting.This just came out from the Toronto Sun, which was researching the brain drain from Canada, with a large number of Canadians increasingly year over year fleeing the country to relocate in America.And some of these stats were very interesting.28 % cited greater job opportunities as their reason for moving.26 % said access and quality of Canada's troubled health care system, where they actually preferred the US model for profit and 14 % blamed taxes.And I'd like to end today's episode off with this inspiring address from our heritage and culture minister Mark Miller.
