How I Masterfully Won a $50,000 Geoguessr Tournament

I've been playing Geoguessr for over 5 years now.In fact, I've been playing the game for so long that I inspired a guy named Rainbolt to start playing it who eventually became the best player in the world and is now the face of the game.My only problem is that I'm still ass at the game.I literally haven't improved at all in the last 5 years.I'm still not really sure where Bosnia is.And what's Herzegovina?

So when Joe Bart invited me to participate in a $50 ,000 Geoguessr tournament, my first thought was, how do I scam this?You see, the whole event was a 2v2 tournament, so my idea was I would invite someone who's really good that Joe Bart doesn't know about, that way we could team up and crush a tournament together.But I guess Joe's heard whispers of my scamming allegations, and so he told me my teammate has to be worse than me.So I decided to team up with Kaydryl, who, if you don't know, is a former League of Legends professional and now caster for the game, who, when it comes to other games, isn't the best.I misclicked.

But how?You play League of Legends on a professional level.How do you misclick?How do you misclick the biggest entity in Minecraft, a Enderman?

I guess my reputation in GeoGuessr precedes me because when the other participants found out that I was participating in the tournament, everyone thought that I would win this event easily.That is, until we started playing the game.You see, there were 16 total teams with 32 total participants.And a lot of the players were what you would expect to get from a Twitch streamer.Lacey, I know where this is. See, to kick things off, they did a seeding round.And all 32 players had to put a guess on the map.And we all had the same exact thing that we were looking at.I thought I'd be one of the best until I started playing.And quickly, it turned out that there was a very clear frontrunner.Okay, that's Turkish, I'm pretty sure.

Wow, a lot of people are pretty good.We see not every Twitch streamer is a dumbass IRL streamer.Some of them are chess professionals or Dota 2 professionals.And those people are actually smart.So the best team by far was Aleksandr Botez and GorgC, who were winning basically every single round.And that meant individually, they were like number one and number two.

Number one and two.For reference, I didn't play that great, so a couple of rounds blew up in my face and Kaydryl and I finished 9 -11 respectively.But how is Botes on 37k?What?I don't know.That's mental, by the way.

In the group stage, we went 3 -0.The only really difficult match we had was actually against JoeBark, the host of the event.And the only reason we beat him is because we had one of the craziest guesses I've ever had in GeoGuessr.I don't see a language.It's Brazil for sure, right?

Just based off the uniforms, they seem like Brazilian national uniforms.But maybe it's just the color scheme of the building.

And our guess is we're matching that energy.Okay.I'm not usually nervous for tournaments like this, but when over 100 ,000 people were watching us play GeoGuessr, I wanted to do my best, especially considering not only would the loser be eliminated, but the loser also had to gift 100 subs to the winner.And I don't want to gift 100 subs to Jinxie.I like the Jinxie streams, bro, but that's pissing in the ocean.That guy's got 70 ,000 subs.

Rose the road over Almost at 5k.Wrong side of the cemetery.We also got molt so we can kill shot.There's something else about GeoGuessr's strategy that I haven't mentioned yet.You see, the way GeoGuessr works is if your guess is closer than your opponent's guess, you get an increased multiplier the next time your guess is closer.So even if you're closer by five miles, that multiplier is gonna make your next guess, which is maybe a thousand points higher, 2 ,000 points of damage.

It matters a lot to be closer every single round.So even if we weren't exactly sure where this place was, we tried to cover as much of the map as possible.Even then, they were making some fantastic guesses.
