Here's how much I spent in a day in New York City as a professional dancer in her 30s. Quick note, this is what I spent this specific day. I live in South Jersey, so my commute is two hours each way to New York. Starting off hot with a 40-minute drive to the train station, and then I pay $10.75 to park all day. The train ride to New York City from where I get on is $19.20 each way. However, this day, with how my tickets worked out, I only needed to buy one. The train takes me directly to Penn Station and fortunately most of the theater audition locations are three or four blocks away from Penn Station so I just walk there and spend zero dollars. I attended the principal call for Hadestown this day and auditioning is always free.
I also always pack a lunch and bring snacks with me when I go to New York because I don't want to spend any money on food. So another zero dollars. Took the subway to dance class number one which 90 cents. As a member of the union I get discounted rates on dance classes and because this class was two hours long instead of 90 minutes it was $23.50. $2.90 again for the subway to rush to another dance class which was at Broadway Dance Center and cost me $22 because it was 90 minutes.
