HUGE Romano Transfer Updates! Man Utd Transfer News

The United Stand38 views
0:01

Hello, buddy.Welcome to the United stands.I'm Mark Goldbridge. This is your latest Manchester United transfer news as we get huge transfer updates from Fabrizio Romano on more than one Manchester United target. Finally, some positive news after a couple of days of really quite you know, big setbacks across the United transfer landscape. Also, have Mazraoui and Kunya just saved Man Utd £100m?

0:27

We talk about two very good performances in the World Cup that could have a kickback on United's pursuit for a left -back and a back -up striker. The Glazers will be very happy about that, I'm sure, but what are you?Manchester United seriously considering Kamavinga. Is that a player that you think United should be looking at?And Bouadi, the latest on him, is he the perfect signing for Manchester United?United should be pushing for instead of people like Buleba, who've been proven not to be good enough for United.

0:53

But we are still looking at lots to get into on the show this morning. But look, we're going to start off with what I believe is some positive news.Like I say, for the first time in a couple of days, it's coming in from Fabrizio Romano. It involves Mateus Fernandes and Somerville.Actually, we'll talk about that in a moment. But on Mateus Fernandes, What Romano has said in the last few hours is that Manchester United are the club that is pushing the most aggressively to get this deal done.

1:21

At the moment, it's Manchester United, Real Madrid and Tottenham. And I think that's a positive straight away because we have had conversations over the last few weeks about the likes of PSG, about the likes of Arsenal. And it looks like PSG and Arsenal are looking at alternatives to Fernandes, which opens up the door to us even more. With relation to Real Madrid, Fabrizio was saying, well, you know what? There was conversations from Jose Mourinho 10 days ago about his admiration and about liking Mateus Fernandez, but that's not progressed beyond him being on their list. It's certainly Premier League clubs being more advanced and more aggressive at this stage.

2:00

And while Spurs are looking at Mateus Fernandes, their priority at the moment is Tenali. And they have had talks with Mateus Fernandes' agent, which we'll spoke about in a moment. But it's Manchester United who are pushing on agent and club, with Fabrizio Romano saying Manchester United are pushing hard with the agent, Jorge Mendes, and also on talking with West Ham about a price to get this deal done.So it is Man United who are far advanced on everybody else for Mateus Fernandes. And as I said, look, it's very easy to get concerned about the activity that's going on around other players. But we mustn't forget, even if United only sign three players, one of them probably is going to be Mateus Fernandes, and that will be a good signing.

2:43

Of course, I completely agree that when it hits late August and we assess the window, it won't be a good window just because we bought Mateus Fernandes, who is a good signing. It will have to be judged as a collective. If you look at last summer, Cunha and Embermo and Sesco were good signings individually. But as a collective, I couldn't give it any higher than a five because I don't think we did enough around the midfield for what was needed. But Mateus Fernandes would be a good signing for Manchester United. And it is still looking like I've said for a few weeks now, I wouldn't move away from that deal and say we're not going to get it done, despite concerns around other things which we're going to discuss.

3:22

And look, a big update from David Ornstein as to why Tottenham are winning the Tonali race. That to me is...Sorry, I'm getting rid of David, who says lies.

3:34

I mean, I'm sorry, everybody, for just getting diverted there. But it's a news show, David, and we're talking about Fabrizio Romano's update.I mean, it's...He'd sue me if I came on here and said Fabrizio Romano has said this when he hasn't.You know, he's literally just said it, that Man United are leading the race aggressively compared to Spurs and Real Madrid. So you might be right.

3:55

it David you might be a miserable but That is the news on the news show on the United stand But we'll talk about David Ornstein and what what he said about tonali basically Spurs are in for Tenali and are willing to do something they've not done before in relation to the financial package. They are willing to make a big financial offer to Tenali to get him to Spurs, expected to be large wages.

4:22

Now, look, I think that I'm not going to run a poll on this. We've got a poll on whether we should sign Camavinga, which we're going to talk about in a moment.

4:29

But How do you feel about that?Mateus Fernandes does fit in with this because we may well be leading the race.I think we will get the deal done. But if Spurs are also independently chasing Mateus Fernandes and are speaking to Jorge Mendes, I doubt they're going to be speaking to him about the upcoming NFL games at the Tottenham Stadium or how Portugal are doing in the World Cup and whether Ronaldo should be dropped.I would imagine they're talking to Jorge Mendes about a financial package for his player and him that they like.Spurs are behind us because they're not talking to Tottenham, but they are talking to George Mendes.

5:07

I wouldn't ignore that.I'd say I'm 75 % sure that we will get this deal done. But Spurs, if they're being aggressive, like David Ornstein said with Tonali, what they're probably doing with Tonali is offering him somewhere between two and 300 ,000 pounds a week, which is a big wage commitment for Tottenham. It's a commitment we won't make. Now, I've seen some people saying, well, fair play to United for not playing silly wagers. And again, I sort of come back and I go, what happened to football?

5:39

What happened to this fan base? Why are we acting like that?Who made us act like that? The Glazers. How did they do that?Subtly.

5:48

Like, why have we done that?got fans of this football club who are saying, I agree, let's walk away from a deal, we shouldn't be paying silly wages. Why shouldn't we pay silly wages? If it's the right player, why shouldn't we pay silly wages?Surely the thing that gets you excited on a match day is looking at the team and going, that's a really good team.Or does it get you excited that we're playing most of our players under 200 grand a week?

6:09

And there's a reason for that, because they're not actually good enough.I may be controversial here, but correct me if I'm wrong, Tottenham have had two incredibly bad seasons. They're not in Europe and they need to do something pretty spectacular to be back in the Champions League at the end of next season. If Tottenham keep doing what they're doing, they're in the abyss. They have to do something spectacular. And it sounds like they're going to Tonali and saying there's between 200 and 300 grand a week.

6:42

come into this team that we're building that we want to be in the Champions League next season in one year's time.I mean, they're building a team to be in the top four. And if you're going to build that Tottenham team to be in the top four, you're going to have to go and spend the money. So I can't have a problem with this.I don't have a problem. And does it worry me about Mateus Fernandes and the talks they're having with George Mendes?

7:03

Slightly, but sticking with Tonali for a moment, because I think it runs parallel with Man United. If Tottenham are looking at a situation whereby they need and want to be in the Champions League in a year's time and they're going to be aggressive.Of course, if this goes wrong and they finish eighth, they're probably going to be in a bit of trouble. But what they're trying to do with one game a week is build a team that can win every week and get in the top four and compete with Man United, Liverpool, Aston Villa and Chelsea for fourth and third. If you're a Spurs fan, I don't think you sat there like some of our fans going, oh, I'm a little bit worried about the wages.I'm a little bit worried about the transfer fee.

7:43

They're not walking away. They're walking towards it.They're not running away from something that's difficult. They're walking towards it and they're being aggressive. And it is expensive, but that's my problem. If Spurs are willing to pay players between two and three hundred grand a week and Man City and Arsenal are already doing it and we're walking away from it, are we walking away from higher positions in the league as other clubs run towards it?

And that's the balance that United need to figure out here, because if Spurs now go towards Mateus Fernandes, which apparently they are, and they're talking to George Mendes, as I say, it won't be about how muggy it is, the weather today. It won't be about, you know, the Premier League fixture list. They'll be saying, what type of package makes Mateus Fernandes fancy Spurs?Because we haven't got Champions League football, but we're building a team that we want to be in the Champions League in 12 months and be one of the best teams in England in the next two years. That's the conversation they'll have with George Mendez. And George Mendez hopefully will say, there isn't really an offer you can make that's going to make him want to go to you.

8:50

But if you want me to present an offer to him, you need to be north of this. And they might try it.They might go 200 grand a week, which Man United won't be offering. So I'm not worried about Spurs.I'm intrigued by their ambition, aggressive ambition, to spend what they believe it takes to get back, which we're not willing to do.I think the talks they're having with George Mendes only become slightly problematic if the financial offer is way bigger than ours and they suddenly fancy that.

9:26

But the flip side of that is, if Mateus Fernandes and George Mendes pivot towards Spurs because of money, are they necessarily the sort of player that we want at United anyway?I don't know that a player that says to you,I'm thinking about going to Spurs unless you offer me the more money.I think that might be a, that's a little bit different to ringing up Tonali and saying, we will give you 250 grand a week.Do you want to come to United?Probably says yes.

9:56

It's different if Tonali is going to Man United, Tonali is going to Tottenham.on 250 grand a week and we say we want you.And he said, well, not unless you offer me 300 grand. That's a little bit mercenary, in my opinion. So look, this is what I mean. You can't just pay big wages, but you should pay big wages for players to get them to come to your club.

10:15

But not in a situation like this, where Mateus Fernandes could be using us and Spurs to get those wages.

10:25

I think what I'm trying to say is, because some people might get confused, I'm sort of confusing myself, is that what we should do at the start is go for a player like Yandy Amonde or Elliot Anderson or Tenali or Lewis Hall and say, we're going to give you two, two fifty, maybe three hundred grand in some of the cases.

10:44

Do you want to come to United and get that buy in?And if they say yes, you've got them. And then if they say yes, but let's have a bidding war on wages, you walk away. But we won't even put the big wage on the table, will we?But look, as I said, in relation to Mateus Fernandes, that is a really positive update from Fabrizio this morning. And, you know, we're all we're all capable of being a bit concerned after the last two days of onslaught of updates.

11:09

I mean, we've had Ben Jacobs on Simon Stone and, you know, fair play to them.very comprehensive and thorough updates, but there wasn't a lot in there to be excited about when they're talking about potentially buying two midfielders and using a kid as the fourth midfielder, not being not being in for Lewis Hall. You know, there's a there's a lot to be concerned about.

11:27

But on a positive, because there will be a balanced transfer window, there will be positives and concerns. We are still leading that race for Mateus Fernandes.

11:37

It's slow. It's slower than we want it to be.It is slow, but we are still leading that race.Real Madrid seem to be in the background, not really moving on it.And if our competition for Mateus Fernandes is Spurs, it does have very similar vibes to SESCO.And you can sort...

11:53

Look, we don't have to agree with it.But as somebody said in the chat, why is it so slow for United?Well, it's probably slow because of that situation. We know no one else is moving that's a threat at the moment. So, you know, look, I can't tell you how long it's going to take.I had hopes that we were going to get some updates this week.

12:13

But it is echoing the Mbermo deal in a way where we were in advanced talks for six weeks.

12:23

We had two bids turned down.I mean, who knows? It could be five or six weeks before this Fernandez deal gets done.It could be.We don't know.I'd like to think it's going to get done in the next 10 days before the end of June and the end of the financial year.

12:33

But it could be.Right, let's move on.I want to talk about Camavinga next.I also want to talk about why Kunya and Maz Raui could be saving United a hundred million pounds and why some of our fans inexplicably last night were really excited about this. But first of all, I've just realized this is an 11 a .m.

12:50

show instead of a 10 a .m.show.

12:52

I made the decision, the executive decision last night that I was going to push this 10 o 'clock show back to 11 o 'clock, mainly because I was watching the Brazil game at 1 a .m.at 1 .30 a .m.and I didn't get to bed till four, so I had an extra hour's bed, which actually benefits you and I because I'm a little bit more fresher. But we do have an eight o 'clock show tonight.

13:13

I'm doing Netherlands against Sweden at six on That's Football, eight o 'clock here, and then Ivory Coast, Ahmad, watch along against Germany at 9 p .m.So that's our evening entertainment for you as the World Cup continues and so does the United News.

13:27

Switching on the United News, let's talk about Camavinga.A lot of reports coming in from Spain in the last 24 hours around Camavinga, legitimate, credible reports.

13:38

Effectively, Real Madrid are making decisions about who they're going to keep and who they're going to sell.So Alvaro former Man United left back went to Benfica, now at Real Madrid.Obviously, they've bought Cucarella. There was talk about him potentially leaving. He's not leaving Real Madrid. They've made a decision that they're going to keep him, which probably makes sense because he's still quite young and you do need two left backs.

13:59

So he's not going to leave. But as per that update, Camavinga is up for sale.Spurs are, sorry, Real Madrid are, I mean, tell you what, I've just dropped something there, inadvertently, Tyrebridge.

14:13

I think Spurs could end up...I think Camavinga could end up at Spurs from what I was hearing.

14:19

I've got to sort of follow through with that now, haven't I?I wasn't actually supposed...I don't think I'll be in massive trouble. We'll find out.

14:28

I think Camavinga's going...Guess what?I've got a funny feeling that Camavinga could end up going to Spurs. But we'll have to wait and see what happens with that.Bringing it back to Manchester United, Camavinga...Loads of stories about Camavinga leaving Real Madrid.

14:45

He's clearly up for sale.Man United have been linked to him as well. We've got a poll going on here.52 % of you wouldn't go for Camavinga.

14:52

48 % of you would.I personally think that when it comes down to Camavinga, and I'd love to know what your thoughts are.Decent player. When we moved for him when he was playing in France, I always forget what French...There's a quiz question for you. What French club did Camavinga play for?

15:09

Because it wasn't Monaco. It wasn't PSG.I'm not looking at the chat. Was it, wasn't Monika, it wasn't Lil, was it Lil?I feel like, I feel like it was Lil.Renz, someone says Renz in the chat.

15:25

I thought it was Lil, it was Renz apparently. There we go.Yeah, I can just see that Lil badge on him, but I wasn't convinced. So there we go, good quiz question.Anyway, when he was at Renz then, we did look at him and he went to Real Madrid and I was quite excited about signing him. What's happened to him at Real Madrid is he's become a bit of a, He's become one of those young players that gets minutes in different positions, but never really holds his place.

15:55

I wouldn't say he's become a jack of all trades, but he's been playing at left back.

15:59

He's played in numerous midfield positions. He's just not been able to pin down a position at Real Madrid. That doesn't make him a bad player, by the way.I mean, look at, you know, he could go to Spurs. He could go to Man United and be a really good player that plays every week.

16:15

He's still only 23, as Joshua says.I would describe this.Is Camavinga worth the risk? And the answer is no.He's worth the risk for the right type of club. For Bayern Munich, he's worth the risk.

16:34

They're a great team. For PSG, he's worth the risk. For Arsenal, he's worth the risk. For Man City, he's worth the risk. For Manchester United, he's not worth the risk because Ederson's a risk.Mateus Fernandes is a risk.

16:49

And then Camavinga's a risk. You know, Man United have put a post out today basically glazing Casemiro. He's not a Man United player anymore.I just actually don't get the point of what Man United have done. They've got Andy Mitten and a load of other people sat there in a chair glazing Casemiro. He doesn't play for Man United anymore.

17:10

What did I miss? Why are we sat there getting journalists in, you know, editing something together about the greatness of Casemiro? We literally are the history channel. He doesn't play for us anymore.Next season, there's a multitude of midfielders out there. We need to move forward.

17:29

The one thing I would acknowledge about Casemiro, multiple Champions League winner, leader, huge influence in the dressing room, one of our best performers last season. With Casemiro gone, do I think Camavinga, Edison and Mateus Fernandes is a midfield that's worth a risk on?No.

17:48

United have got to bring in somebody where you go, there's not a lot of risk there. They're an experienced player who knows what they're doing. And I'm talking about the Andersons, the Bruno Gs, the Tonalis, the Cerminis. So Kamavinga, to me, would only come in if he was coming in as the second midfielder. And the second midfielder, as far as I'm concerned, is Mateus Fernandes. So I wouldn't go near that Kamavinga deal if I was being honest.

18:11

Why are we linked to him?Well, I sort of let the cat out of the bag as to where I think he really might be going. But I think We have to talk about the, and I'm going to get the hot meter up in a minute.I think we have to talk about the five strands of transfer.Total bullshit, totally true, agent driven, club driven, or the player wants a new contract. He's not getting a new contract at Real Madrid.

I don't think it's totally true.I don't think it's totally bullshit.I think it's Real Madrid or the agent.associating Camavinga to Man United for more exposure. And I don't know which one it is.It could be his agent.

18:49

It could be Real Madrid. But I think we do and are wise to this. Not every player we get linked to is a player that we're looking at.It doesn't That player is clearly for sale, but it doesn't mean we're looking at him.I don't think United are looking at Kamavinga.I think United are active in this transfer market and occasionally agents or clubs looking to move their player use Man Utd as a, you know,

19:15

as a hype really.I don't think we're looking at him.I don't think it makes sense for Man United to look at Camervinga because you'd end up with Mane who's 20, Fernandes who's 21, Camervinga who's 23, and Edison who's never played in the Premier League before. So I just don't think the balance is right. And also I don't think United will bring in two foreign midfielders who are a bit of a risk.I think if we go for a foreign midfielder, it will be Chiamini who is, you know, got a lot of experience.

19:44

Yeah.Would you rather get Alex Scott than Camavinga?Yes, I would.Flack, I would.I like Alex Scott. He's the one name that I don't think has been ruled out completely yet.

19:58

I think it's gone very quiet on Lewis Hall, as we were discussing last night.Just very quickly, Edison.

20:04

I watched the Brazil game last night. In fact, we'll move on to this because Watching the Brazil game last night and watching the Morocco game last night, you would not believe it.I mean, you should be, if you're watching the World Cup, get yourself on That's Football.

20:15

The chat is very, very good.It keeps me awake, literally. It's some really good conversations. And I did take a couple of notes to bring into the morning show that we're United -centric.And watching the Morocco, just give me your thoughts on this, right? This is really where I want to get some good comments on this.

20:34

What are your thoughts on this?Because there's an element of truth to it, I don't know about you.

20:38

I'm tired of our fans making it easy for Ineos and the Glazers. So you get fans saying, well, we should walk away.

20:46

We shouldn't pay silly prices. We shouldn't pay silly wages. You're basically facilitating the Glazers not spending money.

20:54

Last night in the Morocco game, more than one person says, we don't need a left back.Use Masraoui. And I said, why are you doing the Glazers work? Why are you literally justifying as not spending money?Masraoui can solve the problem.left -back problems.

21:12

And then in the Brazil game, well, we don't need a backup striker, we can just use Kunya. So I've literally got United fans on the That's Football live chat saving the Glazers 100 million quid.We don't need to go for Lewis Hall because we've got Masraoui at left -back, and we don't need to go and buy a striker because we've got Kunya. And I'm like, you're literally doing the devil's work here. You're literally letting them off the hook.I mean, what are you going to do next?

21:38

Let's, you know, let's use Lenny Yorrow as a holding midfielder.I'm like, sometimes it absolutely baffles me the mindset of our fan base and how indoctrinated they've come into this Glazer bullshit.Because you know what?United probably are sat there in a WhatsApp group last night going, don't need a left back, Masraoui.Don't need a backup forward, Kunye. So I do want to talk about that because there is something there, but it doesn't justify not writing the checks.

22:12

But where I did want to start is Edison came on for five, five, 10 minutes in the game.

22:17

It was great to see him. There was literally, and we've got to be very careful of this, right? We have to be eyes open about this because I think we dropped the ball with Dorgoo and Agaté, right?

22:27

When we signed Dorgoo and Agaté, separate times I know, we got Dorgoo in the January. It was still January or early February when he made his first few appearances and social media was calling him dog shit. When we signed Agaté, before he'd even kicked a ball, he had a nickname involving shit. Now, look, obviously it's not worked out well with Agaté, and I think Dorgue is doing better, but we can't be doing this to new signings. We can't be making our mind up on new signings before they've kicked a ball or watching them play for five minutes.Well, we bloody can.

23:05

because last night, Edison comes on, missed a half -decent chance, misplaced a couple of passes.Oh, he's a load of shit. And I'm like, he's come on in a World Cup game for like 10 minutes for Brazil. Not had the best cameo, if I'm being completely honest. And he's a load of shit. And they're united accounts on social media.

23:26

And you sort of like go, OK, Edison wasn't the most exciting signing in the world. But we can't be coming into these signings looking for them to fail before they've even put the shirt on.I mean, and also, even if Edison doesn't hit the ground running, and he may never hit the ground running, I still think you've got to give a player that's only ever played for Atalanta, which is not a massive club, never played in the Premier League, I think you've got to give him 6, 12, 18 months. Not 6, 12, 18 minutes. So look, I can't dictate how people think and I don't want to because I like the contrast of conversation and debate.

24:05

But I think on this, surely there's not going to be many people who disagree with me.And I think Dorgoo is a prime example.I was very excited about signing Dorgoo.Dorgoo, Hato, Chirky, Diamonde, Noosa, these are all players, not Diamonde to be fair, not as much, Noosa certainly. These are all players that if you play certain computer games and you do your research, these are players that have been hanging around, you know, as young players to come through as next stars for a while. So when we got Dorgoo, I was like really excited and it disappointed me. how instantly some of our fans really went in on him.

24:43

Man United are bad enough at developing players without us as a fan base not helping with that as well.So look, Edison, whatever minutes he gets for Brazil, whatever his performance for Brazil, it's got nothing to do with why we've bought him and what he can be for a Man United player. But look, let me talk about Masraoui and Kunya.

25:02

Do they solve our left back and striker options?Absolutely not.Absolutely not.If we are going to be a fan base or a club, that's gonna go, we don't need a left back because Mazraoui can play there, and we don't need a backup striker because Kunye can play there, then, yet again, it's an absolute 4K capture of a lack of ambition. We can't do that.If Mazraoui is such a good left back, why did Karrick not use him for six months there?

25:29

He used Luke Shaw. Why is he suddenly the replacement for Luke Shaw when Karrick didn't use him as a replacement for Luke Shaw?Like, Mazraoui can be a really good player for us, but he can't be the left back.We need to buy a left back. And Kunja as a backup striker, I don't mind Kunja doing that, but why should we save money on a player that's actually not a backup striker? We've been using him on the wing.

25:57

We can't, we can't, we can't.I don't mind Kunja being the backup striker, but he's also the left winger. We can't spread ourself. We need players. The reason Masraoui and Kunja cannot be the new left back and the new backup striker is because they're not new anything. They're already part of a squad that's not big enough.

26:17

So if we don't buy a left back and we don't buy a backup striker, We're not adding numbers to a squad that needs numbers. So if Sesko gets injured and Kunja's the backup striker, we've only got Dorgu on the left wing.We need a backup striker to replace, hopefully, Xerxe. We don't need Kunja to replace Xerxe because their numbers drop.We need a backup left -back because we need somebody long -term to play left -back and push Luke Shaw out.If we use Mazraoui and Deleux gets injured, who's playing right -back?

26:49

We can't be budget FC, as Dave says.I haven't got a problem with Kunja,up front.I haven't got a problem with Mazraoui playing at left back, but they're already part of a squad that's not big enough. You know what I mean?So when I hear people going, well, we don't need a striker.

27:03

We've got Kunja as the backup striker and we don't need left back because Mazraoui can solve that problem. They can't.It's a numbers thing. In that position, it's a numbers thing.Kunya's already part of the left wing number 10 numbers. If you use him as a striker, we're spreading ourselves too thin numbers wise.

27:18

A couple of injuries, we're in trouble.Mazraoui's already the right back or the backup right back.He can't also be the left back.So we can't use those players for positions. We need a left back because we need a left back.We need a backup striker because we need to get Xerxe out and replace him.

27:35

It's a numbers game. We're going from one Premier League game a week to two.You can't thin the squad more to deal with more games. We actually need quantity bringing in as well. But what I will say about Kunja is he's a better player centrally than he is out on the wing. And we saw that yesterday for Brazil.

27:55

I don't think Brazil are very good, by the way.

27:57

I don't see them going very far in this World Cup.I think I've watched them play twice.I think they're quite pragmatic. They're very reliant on a very strong defence. But Kunja's second goal was fantastic.

28:09

And you know what it showed for me is that If we're going to put Kunja up front, you've got to buy a left winger. If we buy Noosa, use Kunja as the backup striker.

28:22

But don't use Kunja as the backup striker and don't buy a left winger or a striker. That's what I'm saying.I think Kunja up front is a nice, good, exciting option. Then you've got to buy a left winger, because if Kunja replaces Xerxe, we're a man down. What you want to do is replace Xerxe and buy a left winger.I want more numbers.

28:46

You see what I'm saying?I quite like the idea of Kunja playing up front.but we'd be thinning our squad to do that. We're meant to be expanding the squad. But I thought, look, it's the World Cup.Breaking news, it's the World Cup, and it is international football, and it's Haiti's defence.

29:08

And one of Kunya's goals was a little bit fortunate, but the second goal, no keepers saving that.So it's great to see Man United players doing well.Morocco, look, Masraoui has played very well against Brazil and Scotland, but it's still international football and we still need to add players to the squad. The one player I would say again, and I was listening to what Mazraoui had to say after the game, and, you know, you just think if you're going to listen to anybody, he said he spoke about Bouadi and he said his quality speaks for itself. He's an amazing player. He showed that against Brazil and against Scotland.

29:42

Unbelievable. He's really humble.Everyone likes that so much about him.If Mazraoui, who is ridiculously humble and hardworking and consistent, is describing Bouadi as humble, I mean, if I was Man United, that phone call And I'm going against my own sort of theory here about buying players in the World Cup.

30:03

But Bouhadi is exactly what Michael Carrick was, in a way. He's in that central position, dictating the play, winning the ball back.Positional sense, absolutely on point.

I don't know why we're not making that move.I can only presume that we just, we dismissed it.And look, I'm not signing Bouhadi on the World Cup.I'm impressed with him in the World Cup, but Arsenal and Liverpool and PSG were in for him before the World Cup.What's happened with Boadu with me is, I wasn't really aware of him massively.Like, this is how he's been playing in the French League.

30:45

This is why Arsenal were after him before the World Cup.And I trust Arsenal's recruitment. And whilst it is a World Cup and you shouldn't scout players just on World Cup games, he's clearly very, very good. And when you back that up with the fact that Arsenal, PSG, and Liverpool were looking at him before the World Cup, I trust their scouting. So it's not like no one else wants Bouhadi and he's just had two good games in the World Cup.I wouldn't want him.

31:11

It's the fact that he's had two exceptional games in the World Cup and he's high on Arsenal's list and Liverpool's list and PSG's list because they've scouted him for the last 18 months.I don't know why we're not looking at that because he's actually the profile of midfielder that I would think would work ridiculously well next to Omeinu.I think when you look at Boadii and the fact that, you know, in that midfield position, he's scanning, he wants the ball off the back four, he's protecting the back four, he can get the ball and move forward.Occasionally he's getting into the opposition's penalty box, making runs.I think he's a multi -cultured footballer in relation to the assets he brings. But fundamentally, he'd be head and shoulders above anybody in our team in relation to that scanning, you know, scan, scan, scan in front of him.

32:02

And then when our defence has got the ball, he's spinning around.

32:05

He's like, give me the ball.I'll give it to the left back.Give me the ball.I'll turn that way and I'll go that way. He's just, that's the thing that impresses me.

32:12

If you watch Bouadi play, he's, His movement and confidence is, look, I'll guarantee you if he comes to the Premier League and he goes to Arsenal, he'll be a bloody world -class player in two years' time. We're not going to do it, but when you see Mazraoui, who's in the squad with him, describing him as a top, top player with an amazing personality, I just think it's an opportunity. Not necessarily missed in the World Cup.Why did we miss it over the last 12 months? Why have we never been in for Boadii in the last 12 months? And it goes back to what Emily Derry said last night.

32:51

We knew we needed to rebuild our midfield 12 months ago.We knew Casimiro was leaving 12 months ago.We had a January transfer window where we did nothing.

33:00

Why is this guy only coming to our attention in the World Cup?Where was our scouting over the last 12 months?because we're going to miss out again on a really good player there. And I don't think he's going to go for, I don't think with Boadi, it's an annoying one.I don't think we're walking away from Boadi because it's 100 million and he wants 300 grand a week.I just think we've just missed the boat.

33:21

I think he's a player that we could have got for a very real price.

33:26

And I think it, if I'm being blunt, I think it's pure incompetence that he's never been on United's radar.or that he's been on our radar and then we backed off. That's the question for me.We can spend nine months briefing Ornstein and Romano that we want Elliot Anderson and then we can walk away because the price is too much.My question is, in that nine months when you were too busy briefing PR, why were you not looking at a player like that who, you know, he is more, he is the most perfect player for Man United.Forget Chiomini, forget Elliot Anderson, what do Man United need?

34:02

We need a six who can be an eight, who controls the midfield, protects the back four, press resistant, takes the ball off the back four, strong, physical, quick.

34:13

That's the prototype of what we need. He's the most prototype player for all that role.More than Tonali, more than Tumini, more than Anderson, more than Mateus Fernandes. He's absolutely the prototype.

34:25

He's very close to what Michael Carrick used to do for Man United. And we've completely missed that.I think questions need to be asked in the boardroom as to how we've missed that player.Because I accept we're not signing him.And I accept this is not just about the World Cup.I'll put my hands up.

34:41

I've seen more of him in the World Cup than I'd seen before. But I'll repeat, Arsenal, PSG, Liverpool were looking at this player in depth before the World Cup even kicked off.So he was on their radar. They know about him.

34:53

Why have we missed it?In the French League as well.Like, it would be relatively cheap, comparable to every other target that we're looking at.And you know, dare I say it, I'd rather be signing him than Edison.

35:11

But we are where we are.Let me get into some of your comments.Red Devil, great show this morning, by the way. Thanks everybody who's tuning in.Really enjoying the content on here and on That's Football at the moment. And really enjoying the show this morning because I think the last two days, God, I was on That's Football last night doing the watch along saying thank you for the World Cup because the last two days of updates have just, you know, been a right drag.

35:34

More positive today, certainly around Mateus Fernandes.Red Devil News says, hi Mark, hope you're well.Do you think Carrick wants to play more of a 4 -2 -4?Because, for example, Mbembe playing up front and not looking at CDMs.Red Devil News, look, I think if we're going to change the way we're going to play, the first two games of the season are a great chance to do that, because it's Ipswich and Hull.So if he's not going to play counterattacking football with less than 50 % possession, And he wants to go more attacking.

36:02

And those two games are the perfect games to get it going. You know, Marleau says Tuchel showing the world that you can be brave if you know what you're doing.United's incompetent makes them always choose the easy and safe route.Thank you, Marleau.I mean, Marleau, I'd not even thought of it like that. But, you know, Michael Carrick compared to Tuchel and you see what he's doing.

It's a very, very different approach, isn't it?Music for everyone out there says the way this transfer window is going.would you take Edison, Fernandes and Stiller as the midfield three? No marquee signing per se, but three fairly highly rated players in positions we need.I don't think we're getting Stiller.I mean, I would take Edison, Fernandes and Stiller over Edison, Fernandes and Buleva.

36:45

But personally, I think Edison, Fernandes and a marquee signing is what we should be getting.John United says Glazer's secret agents. It's embarrassing.United players in.We struggled with two games a week.Six signings or top four will be hard, says John.

36:59

I want us all to spend our cash on a centre midfielder, this window, says Kiel.Eric says, if United are only getting two midfielders, why is Tonali too expensive?Because if United get him, it's only £135 million for two midfielders, says Eric.Who is not a risk?Anthony was £89 million, says Sanchez.Could Balogun be a good second striker option, says Dash?

37:19

Now this, to me, is a complete and utter contrast to Boadi, right?Boadi's doing well in the World Cup.I think he's got every attribute to be a really good midfielder. And it's backed up by the fact that Arsenal, Liverpool and PSG were heavily looking at him going into the World Cup.So the quality is there. With Balogun, no top club was looking at Balogun before this World Cup.

37:43

And he's having a good World Cup.See, I think Balogun is the prime example of what I wouldn't go for.I think that's a player that, you know, he's done reasonably well at Monaco, but there's not a big list, like Real Madrid and Barcelona weren't looking at him before the World Cup.That's the prime, that's the prime example of a deal I wouldn't do.That's a player that I think is having a good World Cup.But before the World Cup, I don't think a lot of people were looking at him.

38:09

I don't think United will look at it, but I personally don't think that's the right sort of deal for United. But a lot of people are.I mean, I'm not saying you're wrong if you do.For me, that's where I've always said World Cup Euros.Don't buy a player just off that.Surely players must be at Tottenham and think I'd like to keep my ACL.

38:29

Thank you, says Christopher.A lot of people get bad knee injuries at the Tottenham Stadium is basically what Christopher is saying.Kamavinga cuts corners, left back and midfield option, says Kristen.Yes, You can't, you can't ignore that. And Kiel says, I just want sentiment fielders. We've neglected that for 15 years.

38:47

Thank you.Nearly hit a thousand likes on the video, by the way. Please do smash a like on the video. One and only says, the market knows how to repel the United.Slap a hundred million price tag and we walk away.Probably the case, Bawadi, which makes so sad what we've become.

39:01

Thank you, one and only.Let me just catch up on what else.A little bit on Rashford this morning as well.So basically, Christian Folk, who's a journalist sort of very, very tapped into Bayern Munich, he says, Man United are prepared to keep Rashford next season after Karrick expressed a desire to work with him again. The forward has attracted interest from Bayern, but the Bundesliga champions are unlikely to pursue a deal if they complete the signing of Saeb Bari from Eindhoven, which they will.Rashford's future remains open, but a stay at Old Trafford is now a realistic possibility.

39:39

So look, I mean, look, The only interest in that update is that it comes in from Christian Folke, who is close to Bayern Munich and would probably know about Bayern Munich's proposed interest in Rashford, which doesn't look like it's going to proceed.Barcelona aren't going to proceed at the moment. So Rashford's future is man united.I suppose the only interesting thing about that is, is that we have heard before that we have heard before that Rashfordwants Rashford back.I mean, that will be all over Carrick, won't it, if he brings Rashford back.

40:37

But look, as I said about the Rashford situation, I don't think he really wants to come back.I don't think the club really wants him back.I don't think half our fan base want him back. And I don't think coming back is going to be very easy when you consider the scrutiny and noise will be every single game. And look, If you bring Mbappé to Manchester United, it's all about Mbappé.If you bring Jude Bellingham to Manchester United, it's all about Jude Bellingham.

41:02

If you bring Rashford back to Manchester United, nobody can stop the fact that it will all be about Rashford. If he's on the bench, Rashford's on the bench. If he scores, Rashford scored. There'll be a lot of noise if we bring Rashford back as well. Now, if I'm Michael Carrick, as an inexperienced coach who needs to get results and maintain a football club that's about him, And I'm not blaming Rashford for this, by the way. There'd be a lot of noise there as well.

41:32

So, I mean, look, ideally for everybody, Barcelona paid the money and he would have gone to Barcelona. What we end up now with Rashford is, he's thinking about what he's doing, we're thinking about what we're doing, and it's all about that. And there's going to be a lot of noise around Marcus Rashford and Man United for the next two months, when actually, if it's time for Barcelona, we'd just be focusing on bringing other players in.And I said this, The downside of this Rashford stuff is that it takes up a lot of time deciding what to do with Rashford. When actually, that time needs to be used on left -backs, midfielders and other areas. There's a real possibility that he ends up coming back to Manchester United.

42:13

Of course there is. I'm not going to sit here and say that there isn't.The market.

42:17

No, I've done that one.Thank you very much.OK, thank you so much, everybody, for tuning in this morning.Sorry it was a little bit late, but obviously wanted an extra hour in bed.Ultimately, quite positive updates.

42:28

And but with the word of caution about will we not buy left back in a strike now because Masraoui and Kunya have done well, I think that would be a mistake.you know, Tottenham are clearly showing more ambition in wages and fees than we are.Is that going to hurt us?So, you know, those are always there. But look, with Mateus Fernandes at the moment, we don't know how long it's going to take, but we can't not acknowledge the positivity that we are winning that race. When the race will end, I don't know.

42:59

And for me, it would be a no on Camerbinga.Yes, I agree with 53 percent of you on that as well.Thank you so much for tuning in today. There is an eight o 'clock show tonight.Obviously, if anything happens before that, we'll go live.My next live stream is six o 'clock, which is the Netherlands against Sweden on That's Football.
