This tradition started with flowers, but that could provide a hazard on the ice So fans show their appreciation by throwing these stuffed animals or tosses, but this happens every single routine Sometimes dozens even hundreds at once So there's this hidden operation where these sweepers Collect the tosses off the ice and shove them into these bags and when the skater is really popular

They bring out industrial carts just to clear the ice fast enough for the competition to continue. I even threw one myself so I contributed to the chaos. And at the end of the competition, when the Olympic team was selected, the skaters flipped the tradition and threw their own tosses back into the crowd. Skater Jason Brown helps collect these tosses and donates them to charity. Over the last 10 years, I've donated all the stuffed animals that have been thrown on the ice to Ronald McDonald Houses.
