I Tested the World Cup Mode…in FC 26

The World Cup update is finally here in FC 26, and I'm so eager to test it out.But to be honest, I'm also worried because the last two World Cup games EA gave us, they were just DLC slop content.I mean, all you could do was play the World Cup.There was no integration into manager mode or even player career.Of course, there was a lot of stuff they did with Ultimate Team, but we all know that's mostly a cash grab.But has EA learned their lesson for the 2026 World Cup?

Are they actually gonna give us a good game?Well, I guess we're not off to a good start.Because for the first time in almost ages, EA don't even have the license to call this the World Cup.They've lost their FIFA license, we all know that.They are now calling it the World's Game.And alright, let's just straight away get into it and see what it offers.

Okay, we're getting an intro cutscene.Huh, this is better than I expected.Now, although EA don't have the World Cup license, they do have official licenses for 41 out of the 48 teams.Pretty much all the other big nations, Argentina, Brazil is finally back in the game, which means Neymar should be as well.And one thing I like about this screen is you get to see the best results of every team at the World Cup, even the Euros.I feel like the best way to test out this update is to try and experience the entire World Cup.

Or should I say World's Game?

And you know what?

Let's try and do a World Cup run with Portugal.Okay, so it gives us an option to play the tournament.And what do we do in the customize section?Oh, we can probably...Okay, no, I thought we could maybe change the squad, but no.It's only the official players that have been called up, and for some reason the players don't have their faces here, which is a bit annoying.

Maybe that's a glitch.Although I want to try it out with Portugal.I want to first see whether Neymar is back in the game or not, and I don't think he is.Oh EA, you've put João Pedro instead.Update your squad, man.Get Neymar back in the game.

I would have done that.it with maybe Brazil if Neymar was there.But I think we're gonna test this game mode out with Portugal.Try and get Ronaldo the trophy.Very interesting, but I don't care.You know what?

I like the graphics.It is giving me World Cup mode vibes.We're selecting Portugal.And alright, so all the official groups and everything are already there.So it is an unlicensed version of the World Cup.Okay, what would be the best squad for Portugal?

I think it would be this, you know.Betinho, Neves and Bruno Fernandes.Nuno Mendes, Diogo Costa.Yeah, I won't make any changes, bro.Maybe Three Cow can go over Bernardo Silva on the right.A bit more attacking firepower.

I feel like this fixture is gonna decide this group in real life.Can we beat them?Oh, we can 2 -0 Rafa Leao.By the way, fun fact, for the last three years, EA have accurately predicted the World Cup winner using their in -game World Cup And hey, if Portugal reaches the final year, maybe that's what's gonna happen in real life.Look at that, he scores another goal against Congo.But okay, we've managed to top the group with Colombia finishing second.

And so this is the screen we've got for the knockouts, and this is where we get to see the fake World Cup trophy.Nah, bro, this ain't it.I remember seeing a trophy in the Saudi League that kind of resembled the World Cup.They might have just used that, because what is this?Am I ugly?Nonsense.

Okay, at least the World Cup screen is looking good with the brackets and everything, but that's like the bare minimum.By the way, since we are testing this World Cup update, I am gonna give it a rating out of 10 based on the experience I have, the features it offers.So far, not gonna lie, no licenses, missing national teams, no Neymar.And also since it's just the World Cup mode that's super basic, so far it's gonna be a 2 out of 10.But hey, there's still a lot we're gonna do.in this update because there's a lot more stuff in career mode possibly, in player career, in ultimate team.

We're gonna check everything out.But now we're gonna keep making our way to the final.Ronaldo gets his first World Cup knockout goal.Ooh, by the way, Argentina knocked out Uruguay.And Iran knocked out USA.Okay, no comments from me there.

Man, Portugal have a super easy run here because we're facing Austria now.That should be a piece of cake.Okay, Norway.Norway, Arnautovic scored a hat -trick and has kicked Ronaldo.Ronaldo missed a pin!Yikes, bro.

Yikes.But you know what's annoying?Now that we've been knocked out of the World Cup, the game literally doesn't show us who won the World Cup.Like, how silly is that?We will not get to see what happens in the rest of the tournament.This has been a glitch in the game for like ages, but EA have just never bothered fixing it, man.

Alright guys, I feel like we need to try and experience the final.Maybe EA have managed to recreate the World Cup atmosphere, so I want to experience that.I think for that, we now need to pick a new team and try and win the World Cup with.Let's go with Spain, boys.I'm very confident that we can get Spain to the final.But yeah, so far, because of the fact that we couldn't see what happened in the entire World Cup, my rating is dropping down to 1 .5, man.

By the way, I'm not gonna lie, This Spain team for the World Cup is by far the most balanced team.Forget having Lamine and Nico Williams, but look at that midfield of Rodri, Ruiz and Pedri.Defense is a bit sus, but when you've got probably the best player in the world right now along with maybe Mbappe, I think yup, we are gonna get Spain to the final at least and oh my days, destruction against Saudi Arabia.Second group game for Spain is against Uruguay.Ooh, a two -all draw.But okay, I'm expecting destruction against Cavalverde as well.

No surprises, 3 -0, Lamine scores.Now, we've topped the group with Spain, and that puts us in a really easy bracket.And that's what I'm talking about, man.We destroy Algeria.In the next round, it was Congo, and of course, we beat them.Bro, the main score of Brace in this game.

Meanwhile, look at that, boys.The only serious team we could have ended up facing, Congo.out in Belgium.And now we're going to be up against Canada in the quarters.By the way, both Argentina and Portugal are knocked out as well.What on earth is this sim?

Spain versus Canada World Cup quarterfinals.It is going to be Spain with Lamin constantly scoring.How did Qatar make the World Cup quarterfinals?This is silly.But OK, this is going to be Spain's first big game in a way against France.Oh, by the way, Lamin is the top scorer at this World Cup, and I don't I don't see Kylian Mbappé anywhere.

The shock.Fed Andorres!World's King!Fallen maybe in tears of joy.I mean that's what the World Cup brings like that crazy emotion Even the trophy cutscene is like the exact same not gonna lie boys so far my experience on this world's game at best the two out of threeit does nothing better than what we've had previously in fact it's even worse because we don't have all the nations and we've got this fake diamond trophy or whatever it is disappointed but EA could still save it there is still a few more game modes we're gonna see what they've done with And let's get into manager career.

Now, previously, EA never really bothered changing career mode whenever they dropped a World Cup update.Career mode had like a watered down version of the World Cup with just 24 teams, missing a lot of big nations like Brazil.It was just a horrible experience.But if they maybe add this World's Game update to career mode itself, that could open a lot of possibilities.And from what I know, they have done that.And look at this, boys.

We're now in career mode, choosing a club team.But you can also become an international manager on the side from the get go.And it includes all the teams that are licensed from various continents.So, yup, you do have officially Brazil in the game.To test this out, I guess we'll do it with Argentina.Actually, it might be smarter to test this out with live start points, because then we can basically start at the end of the season.

Now, of course, to test this out, we'll also become the Argentina manager.And look at that, boys.For the first time, you can literally start career mode as an international manager as well.Oh, and wow, it's got all the real life injuries as well.And pretty much the entire squad is injured.Wait, where's Messi?

Yo, Messi's not been called.Okay, this is kind of funny because of all the real -life injuries, I literally can't call up a few players like Romero and stuff.That's crazy, bro.We can't let them just recover.But anyways, this kind of shows that everything that happens in your regular career mode throughout the season, that's gonna also impact the World Cup mode.And I don't think it's just the 2026 World Cup that's in the game.

It's gonna be there in 2030, in 2034 as well.Forget that 2014 tournament that we had before.Now we've got the full 48 team tournament in the game.And you know what?kind of changes everything.Compared to the tournament mode which was kind of boring, the World Cup officially being in career mode means that we can do a lot of different challenges.

Not gonna lie EA, integrating the World Cupproperly in a career mode is probably the best thing you guys have done in a long, long time.That kind of boosts up the rating for me, man.And not just a small amount, but like a massive amount because it completely changes career mode.I mean, I've always had the World Cup in career mode because I'm on PC with mods, but now you guys playing in console can do it as well.My rating is going from 2 straight to 6.

Now, before we continue to glaze EA, I do want to check out player career mode because notoriously, this is the game mode EA constantly forgets about, and I'm gonna test this out by doing it as a real player.And let's just go Lumenia mode so we can see if the World Cup mode is in Player Career.Because if it is, you can actually do like a road to the World Cup in Player Career.Okay, I'm not getting any sort of a call -up from the World Cup.This ain't looking good.Okay, is that because Lameen was injured?

But okay, guys, I've just checked.The World Cup has been integrated into player career as well.It's there.We just didn't get the call -up because Lameen was injured.

You know what?That's gonna boost up my rating up to seven.It might seem like a small thing, but compared to the previous DLCs, EA completely ignored career mode.

Now they haven't.Also, for those of you guys who play Ultimate Team, EA have added a lot of World Cup team content here as well.They're giving like a free Maradona away for completing challenges.And I'm sure there's a lot more coming to Ultimate Team.I guess we can boost up the rating to 8, and not gonna lie, although we were off to a terrible start because of the licenses and the tournament mode being wonky, I'll say EA have added some meaningful changes, and especially considering this is a free DLC update, and also don't forget FC 26 right now is practically free.You can get it on PS Plus, I think.

It's not too bad.I'll definitely say this is better than the 2018 World Cup game.Even the 2022 World Cup DLC probably won't top the 2010 World Cup game, I remember playing that on the Wii, and oh my days, it was the time of my life.But you know what?For now, I'm gonna let EA rest easy, because this World Cup update does look good, especially the career mode stuff.Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
