Hey y'all welcome back to the channel. My name is Marina. I do mobile home living in the hills of East Tennessee. And a double Y. This is as old as me. And today we're playing with spray paint again. So if you missed the last spray paint saga, I took my old white windows and turned them into these modern black farmhouse windows. And might I say they look mighty pretty. I'm obsessed with them. That being said, I'm not obsessed with the fact that this side of the house has black windows and that side of the house has white windows. I can't take it anymore. We gotta get this done and we gotta get done before we

decorate for fall and y'all know I'm decorating for fall a little bit earlier this year so I need to get this done. I've just been putting it off because it is huge. It's a huge project. It takes forever. It's tedious. I'm horrible at inspecting details and it requires an inspector of details and I'm not good at that.

So I've been putting it off for a while but I cannot put it off any longer. I've got to get it done. And I'm really excited to see how it's all gonna look together with all the windows in the main living area matching because my house my double-eyes very open concept

You kind of notice when you walk in and half of the windows are black and half of them are white It looks like a walk-and-talk in Dalmatian in here, and I can't take it no more So we're gonna get on that however I want to talk to you guys about something and if you're new here up at time skip down here that you can skip all this. So I was in the comments of the last video and I about did not get in the comments of the last video because I did a Q&A and one of the things that came up was sponsors.

I told you guys that comes up a lot in Q&As and in lives and just DMs, messages in general it comes up a whole lot. And I almost didn't get in the comments of that video because I thought I was gonna get yelled at for even mentioning it. So I posted the video where I was talking about why I don't do sponsors and how my feelings on sponsors have kind of changed over the years. I'll get to why here in a second.

This won't take long. Just give me, I'm telling you, just give me ten minutes, please. Just ten minutes. I will not talk in circles as much as I can. I just want to talk to you and I want you to listen. Just ten seconds. Or ten minutes, not ten seconds. Please don't wait. Don't wait. No, no, no. Ten minutes. I posted that video, talked about sponsors a little bit and how my views on it had changed a little bit over the years and I answered a question that was sent to me very honestly.

I'm always honest, always. I'm always honest 100% of the time with you guys. I will tell you exactly how I feel. I will tell you exactly what's going on as long as it doesn't breach my family's privacy. I will tell you whatever. You guys know everything.

I'm an open book. So it wasn't the fact that I was being honest that was different in this video. It was the fact that I was being so openly honest about a thing that I really refused to talk about for the longest time. I was being very open with you guys about it. I was telling you guys the reason I don't do sponsors has changed over the years. It started out being one thing, and it's ended up being another.

And it's ended up now being the reason I don't do sponsors is because I told you guys five years ago, when I first started, I wouldn't do sponsors. And five years ago, I did not know what I was getting into. I had no idea what YouTube was going to turn into for me. I had no idea what YouTube was going to turn into for me. I had no idea

That you could really I've seen people make a living off YouTube But I didn't know that it was possible definitely not for me like this little unknown girl in a trailer part hot mess mama That that was out of the question. I never even thought a day in my life. I would be where I am right now I undermined God I did I underestimated him because underestimated him because I still to this day don't know how. I know God has me here but it just felt like something surreal, like something like this shouldn't happen to someone like me. So when I started out, you know I started with a very simple mind. I'm still very simple minded. I get told that all the time in the comments. I'm not you know educated, educated. I'm not super smart. I am somewhat educated, but I'm not super smart, super educated, anything like that.

So when I first started out, business wasn't on my mind. Money wasn't on my mind because I didn't know that that could really happen. I had seen it happen before, but it doesn't happen to people like me. Shane, how would you word that? I don't know. If I had known that YouTube would play a crucial part in my income and my family's income, I think I would have viewed sponsorships differently.

But I didn't. And I said I would not do sponsors. That was Marina then, five years ago, and Marina now is standing in front of you and YouTube plays a crucial part in my income and I've realized a lot of

things over the past couple of years, specifically the past year or two, and I've learned a lot of lessons in the past year or two, and I've learned a lot of lessons in the past year or two. I didn't even dare talk to you guys about this because I thought it was completely off the table and like I said, I thought I was going to get yelled at.

So I, you can imagine my shock was changed like we're going to come here and look at the comments and I'm looking at the comments and I'm reading all of your kind comments. You can imagine the shock that I felt because I really thought y'all were going to yell at me. So I didn't know that I could talk about this with you guys, but I didn't know if it was even an option. But now that I've read all those kind comments, I've actually screenshot them and I've got

them on the back of my phone so I can read them so I don't get scared right now. I want to be a little bit more open with you guys about how it works and what's going on. And then afterwards I want you to tell me what you think about the situation and how you feel. I never really gave sponsorships a thought at all. I really didn't care about sponsorships. I really didn't want to mess with sponsorships.

There's a lot that goes into sponsorships. Energy that I didn't have and I was so focused on just growing the YouTube channel and having fun with you guys. I didn't even think about sponsorships until recently when YouTube started making changes to its algorithm and to all the like back end stuff with RPM and CPM which is how much a creator gets paid per thousand views.

YouTube is not set in stone. YouTube income is finicky and I know that. YouTube income fluctuates. It changes. It's finicky every single month, month to month. You never really make the same amount of money. Sometimes it's up here, sometimes it's down here, and it's just back and forth. And even though we haven't relied solely on this YouTube income for our family, to care for our family, we have relied solely on the YouTube income to do the home updates, which is the content, the preferred content for you guys. It's no secret.

YouTube is very, very straightforward about it. The makeover videos are what you guys want to see. There's a very small amount of people, group of people that want to see anything more than that. It's what y'all want to see. Like I said though, the YouTube income always covered that stuff. And it still does. But something happened recently. And now that I've read your comments, I can't help thinking how different it would

have been if I had had sponsors as backup during this situation that happened recently. I made a huge video and I edited it for about 16 hours straight. I put a lot of time into that video and a lot of effort and I was really excited about that video.

I also used a lot of money to make that video because in my niche, in the makeover DIY niche, you have to spend money to make money. Now the money you make does fund the next spend, but you do have to spend money to make money. It's reoccurring.

I spent a lot of money on this project that we did. And I spent a lot of time editing this project. The video was over an hour long. It should have been one of my biggest videos of the month. I was so excited for you guys to see this. Shane had worked his hind end off on this thing and I was so excited for you guys to see it. I posted it. Didn't think anything of it because I do my normal daily routines whenever I post

the videos. I know exactly what I need to do in the back end. I get all of that done right. I did that same thing that day and I didn't think twice about it because it's the normal for me. I do it at least two times a week when I post videos. Well, I found out the next day that YouTube had glitched out in the AdSense and a lot of the bigger creators, and for some reason me, got caught up in that glitch and we earned nothing from the videos we posted that day. You would say that's just one video Marina, but that was

The big video of the month that big video should have funded more projects for the month But because I didn't make money from that I can't spend money on new projects And if I can't spend money on new projects I can't make money on new projects to continue to spend money on projects. Do you get what I'm saying? I realized then why professional YouTubers

rely a lot on sponsors. Because if something like that can go so south and so wrong so quickly without me even noticing for an entire day, and then really having no communication and knowing exactly what happened, all I could have was a few reddit pages of people who have went

through the same thing that day and a semi informative notification from the platform like that's all I really know about I don't know anything else that puts me in a tough position because we have our needs taken care of. That's taken care of outside. Like that's not even a thing. But there's nothing to put into the DIYs from those areas. And even like the the shirts. I told you guys I do not profit a lot on that and I'm not kidding

when I tell you that. When I tell you I've made I can actually show you how much I've made from the t-shirts this month. I specifically fixed it on that shop that I do not profit hugely off of the things I sell because a lot of the things I sell are based around Jesus. I just need to make enough money to keep the business going. I don't have enough money to filter out of the business though. So this week alone this... let me zoom up here so you can see it... it's how much money I've made from that. I was not lying when I said I wasn't doing it for the money. I

was not lying. And this is where it brings us to if I had a backup income, if I had an income outside of this that was sustainable, that didn't have to go towards my home stuff, like the mortgage and everything, then I could be able to provide so much more content and I wouldn't have to have a three hour long panic attack over a glitch that the servers had for the platform I worked for. This is trivial. Okay, this is trivial. Is it going to be the end of the

world if you guys don't agree on me doing this? No, I'm still going to show up. I'll be here until the last one of you guys are here. I'm not going anywhere. The content won't change. I mean, I'm still going to do the best I can to get the videos out there that you guys want to see. Period. Whether we decide to do this or not. I want you guys to really think about your decision. I won't make this decision without you. I will not make this decision

without you. I won't just jump in and surprise you with a sponsored video one day and be like, hey guys, I'm doing sponsors now. I didn't grow this channel by myself. I didn't grow it at all. I just showed up. It's been you guys and God who have grown this channel.

And so therefore I feel that it is your guys and God's decision on whether I can do this or not. Especially given the fact that I said I wouldn't do it when I first started. And then continued to say I wouldn't do it because I said I wouldn't do it when I first started. I want your honest feelings on this.

You don't have to hold back. You don't have to tell me what I want to hear. You can yell at me if you want to. I want to know what you really think. And I don't want to do anything that would offend you guys or make you feel like I misled you or something. I don't want to do that. I don't want to go back on my words. I just wish Marino hadn't said those words. If I had said those words it would have been a lot easier to have this conversation, but I didn't know.

That's my only excuse is I didn't know what it was gonna look like. I had no idea. So you guys, be praying about it. Be honest with me. If it's a no from you, just tell me it's a no from you.

Don't be afraid. People aren't going to gang up on you in the comments. They're good people. You guys are good people. And just because you differ in opinion doesn't mean that we're going to fight and stuff. Either way, it's going to be okay.

Don't worry. about this situation that's happening right now because it has a lot to do with with the channel well with you guys with my community. This has been something Shane has pushed me to talk about he's encouraged me to talk about this for a while but I wouldn't even entertain I'm sorry if there's snow everywhere I wouldn't even entertain the idea until a situation happened where I could not ignore it that was the first time that situation ever happened to me. That was the first time that this last year on YouTube has been unprecedented. Like I haven't went through a lot of

the things that I went through given being a YouTuber. And it's not only just with that situation, losing that money on that video I edited for so long and was so excited about. The algorithm has changed in a whole and it's a lot different than it used to be when I first started. I don't make more money now than I did when I first started. I made more money when I first started than I do now. By a long shot. So it's not just this one situation had me in a panic mode and I'm like, guys I got a new sponsor that's not it at all this is just something that I that I cannot ignore to talk about anymore because I see the pattern and

how things have changed over the past year on the platform here and I can kind of see given how long I've been doing this I can see where it's going and I just don't know I don't know what to do did I say give me 10 minutes I don't know what to do. Did I say give me 10 minutes? I didn't give me 20. So I'm on here asking your permission. If it's a no, it's a no. If it's a yes, thank you. I hope you guys know that I wouldn't go out here and just spam you guys with

sponsorships every video. No, not no I would not do that Also wouldn't do wouldn't show you guys anything that I don't believe in I I don't And maybe that's a good thing that I haven't done them for so long because I've been able to grow a relationship With you guys to where I feel like you can trust me I hope you can trust me.

It's just that we see these opportunities, these blessings that I just mentioned, and we want to pursue them so that we can better this channel and better what we can do here.

I'm using the same paint that I have been using with all of these matte black DIY projects. It's the Rust-Oleum Matte Spray Paint. A lot of people asked why I didn't use like the traditional paint with the paintbrush And it's just because I grabbed for the spray paint to do outdoor furniture And I really loved the finish of those and how it came out So I just decided to use that on my windows and it works

The only thing I had to worry about is a slot mess, but if you're good with painters tape

♪ Illuminate the night ♪ This was a scary project to start whenever I first did the windows on the opposite side of the double wide. When I first did the living room windows, it was really scary because I had never done that before and I didn't know if it was going to scratch off, if it was going to look crazy after a few days, if the rain was going to affect it from the outside because we spray paint both sides. I didn't know what it was going to look like.

I just went on a whim and I just wung it like I usually do and I YOLO'd it and it turned out really good. I haven't had any issues with scraping, with peeling, the weather hasn't messed up anything on the outside portion of it. Like it's been fantastic. You would not believe it's spray paint. And everybody who comes here in person is like,

Marina, that does not look like spray paint. Like Nanny has a fit over it. She's like, this does not look like spray paint at all. And it really doesn't. So I was worried about all of that. I shouldn't have worried about it

because it works perfectly, which this is exterior spray paint. It works perfectly though and it's pretty easy to apply. It's just time-consuming. It's time-consuming and tedious, but it's well worth it considering you save hundreds of dollars by not going and buying black windows. While doing this, the main things I utilize is a fan and then open windows because you definitely need some ventilation in here whenever you're

messing with spray paint and then painter's tape and that's it. So my problem was this over here was black and these over here were white but now that they're all black it looks so much better not to mention my storm door on this door right here is black. We still got to finish this corner right here. That's coming whenever we tackle this wall. But we still got to um or we still have the storm door that is black and that's staying. We got to get a new door right here but the storm door is something new that we got a couple years ago. It was like my dream storm door. I had a fit over it and we went ahead and got it and it's black and matches that perfectly. And then now on this side we have the black windows, too It just looks like so much more cohesive and it goes together. So well, I love it

I was worried at first that it would darken up this area a little bit But with how much white we have it's already a really bright kitchen So it kind of just adds the right amount of contrast here and I really like it plus on that one You can't really see anything but the middle bar there because of the curtains but I really love how this turned out. It just looks I feel like it looks finished now and it makes it feel like the house is all like one vibe if that makes sense. The main living area is
