He has nothing in front of him, he has no plate, he has no food. At a certain point, the man gets up and moves away from the table. And right at that moment, a waitress brings a plate of gnocchi with four cheeses to the skinny woman. You are there and you see the woman who starts to nibble those gnocchi. You have never seen anyone eat so voraciously. It's almost as if she's drinking them.
She doesn't even chew them. But suddenly, the man who was at the table with her comes back and when he sees her eating, he starts to scream. He screams at her to stop eating because then, to get rid of those gnocchi, she'll be forced to fast for weeks.
But the woman does not listen to him, she gets up and, still chewing the food, starts running towards the kitchen of the restaurant. But the man who is with her, follows her, takes her, and slaps her in front of everyone. Now you are no longer the only one watching this couple. All the other waiters in the restaurant are watching them
and they're all mutilated. Yet, no one does anything, no one says anything. Not even the girl says a word. She just sits there, quiet, stiff, then she goes back to sit at the table with that man, that scary man. Everyone has surely thought, what a cruel man, poor woman,

you are about to discover perhaps the most shocking story in the world and I'm not even exaggerating. Marco Mariolini was born in Pisogne, in the province of Brescia, on 13 April 1959. His father is a bus driver and he is a very calm man, indeed, a little bit passive, who suffers hysterical scenes from his wife, Marco's mother, who, unlike him, is a woman with a very strong personality, a woman with a very overwhelming personality,
very controlling and with an obsession with cleaning. Marco's mother spends all her time cleaning at home, she cleans compulsively. She doesn't live maternity in a serulsive way. She doesn't live her maternity in a serene way and there's a particular episode worth noting. Marco Mariolini, as a child,
but at the age of two, suffers from a painful form of recurring gastroenteritis and it seems that he spent, practically, from birth until the age 2 years old crying. He cried non-stop. And one day his mother, tired of hearing him cry,
practically grabbed him by the ankles, he faced the balcony and started to make him crawl down from the balcony, screaming at him to stop crying because otherwise he would have thrown him down. It seems that anyway from the age of later this gastroenteritis has passed. Coincidences? It may be.
This episode alone can already give you an idea of the family atmosphere that Mario Lini has breathed since childhood. The mother, exasperated, probably depressed, his father is physically and emotionally absent and when his mother gets pregnant again, with a little sister, he even decides to get rid of Mariolini and sends him to live at his grandparents' house, who live on Lake Iseo. Growing up, Mariolini starts to understand that he is different.
Practically, with the arrival of adolescence, at middle school, Mariolini finds himself reading a science book, a science manual, and looking at the anatomical illustrations that are in the books, you have the figures of skeletons, arteries, veins, organs... Well, looking at those images, for the first time, Mario Lini starts to feel something new.
Something that all teenagers at some point feel. A sexual urge. But Mario Lini knows that his friends feel that urge by looking at the photos of the very beautiful women on porn magazines. He doesn't. He tries it by looking at images of skeletons. And very soon this thing turns into a precise dynamic.
When Mariolini meets new people, in the first dates, in groups, with friends, his attention always falls on the thinner girls. But it's not just a simple attraction of tastes and preferences, no. In time, this will become a real obsession, a paraphilia if you will. And let's explain this term well. What does it mean? A paraphernalia is an intense and persistent sexual interest towards non-conventional situations or individuals, for example voyeurism, that is, spying on naked people or in intimate relationships with other people without them knowing it. Or, exhibitionism, that is, showing your genitals to strangers
without them agreeing. Or, I don't know, coprophilia, that one related to feces. Some paraphilias can be considered problematic or deviant, indeed a real and proper disturbance. And they can be considered such in the case in which they create a clinically significant suffering
and relational problems in the person who lives them or if they constitute a risk for themselves or for others. For example, if a paraphia leads to illegal or harmful actions, such as non-consensual acts, such as voyeurism or exhibitionism, then it is considered a pathological situation. In the case of Marco Mariolini, we are certainly talking about a paraphernalia.
His attraction towards thin girls is absolutely unconventional because he doesn't like skinny girls and that's it. He likes skeletal girls, bodies that look like a skeleton, like the skeletons he saw in science books when he was a kid. The more you see the bones, the better.
A girl can never be too thin, for Mariolini. And quoting his own words, he, his ideal woman, from a physical point of view, imagines her with the dorsal spine that can be seen from the belly.

Growing up, Mariolini also develops a certain narcissism. He, in fact, looks beautiful, he self-defines a sort of adone, but despite this, until he is 19, he will not have great success with women, he is unable to form any kind of relationship, neither sentimental nor sexual. This until he meets a girl, Lucia. Now I'll talk, as I said, about the physical aspect of the women he meets.
I'll also talk about their weight, in some specific cases. And I would never do this in another circumstance, obviously, but in this case, details like these are important and you will understand why, but I wanted to specify it anyway. Lucia is a very thin woman, she is not skeletal as Mariolini would like, but she is still thin, to make you understand, she weighs 46 kg for 1.65m tall. Lucia and Mariolini start dating and soon they have their first relationship. But when he sees her without clothes for the first time he is totally disappointed. Mariolini defines Lucia as a great
fake skinny because her bones are not visible, they do not show, that is, it is not boned as he likes. So, to consume the relationship, Mario Lini feels forced to close his eyes and rely only on the touch.
When after twenty days I could see her naked, frankly I was quite disappointed. The bones, even if they were felt them, you could hardly see them. A real, fake, skinny woman.
This date continues, despite Marco not liking Lucia so much physically. Then, however, he is called for the levee and then Mariolini leaves for the military service, hoping to have the opportunity to have other sexual experiences. And while he is away, at a certain point, he comes to know that Lucia, in her absence, has been infatuated with another man. And since she didn't like Mariolini,
when she discovers this, she decides that he must have her. Lucia must be his. He starts to fill her with letters, with phone calls, he literally does love-bombing to make sure he finds her there for him on his return. And, among other things, in the most hidden fantasies of Mario Lini, he dreams of killing that man,
of killing the man that Lucia has a crush on. And then, after killing him, he dreams of making him eat him. That is, of feeding him to her. There is obvious discomfort. Unfortunately, Lucia gives in to this tight courtship, if we want to call it that, and she and Mariolini get engaged.
Their relationship is, however, to say the least, toxic and abusive. Mariolini mistreats Lucia, he is violent, controlling, and goes from moments of violence and sadism to acts of extreme sweetness, almost of veneration, obviously to keep her tied to herself. But there is always that problem,
the fact that for her tastes Lucia is not quite thin, her bones are not seen enough, and therefore Mariolini begins to impose herself on her, putting an
exaggerated pressure on her to fast, to lose weight, making her feel constantly inadequate, not desired, always alternating carrot and stick, so she feels inadequate and right to convince her to lose weight, but she does enough lovebombing to keep her tied to herself.
And unfortunately, the thing works, because Lucia not only loses 5-6 kg, but the two get married on April 19th, 1980. And imagine, Lucia, as I told you before, weighed 46 kg when he met her, and now, having lost 6, she weighs 40. 40 kg for a height of 1.65 meters, which is very little.
The moment she lost weight, I liked her more from a sexual point of view, but here it is something pathological that is evidently already in me.
But for Mariolini, there are not a few. He argues that if she managed to lose these 6 kilos so easily, then losing another 3 or 4 shouldn't be such a big problem, right?
If she had lost 5 kilos so easily, she could have lost another 2 or 3 easily. That was our deal.
And she would have been the perfect wife. And Lucia does it, she loses weight and Mariolini convinces her to make a pact, an agreement, she will never have to weigh more than 33 kilos, otherwise she will be punished. She will be punished with beatings, she will be punished with beatings, with punitive silence, with any form of cruelty and humiliation that will pass through his head. Meanwhile, Mariolini starts working as a chemist, even though he studied to become a chemical expert. But in reality, his activity as a chemist goes very well, he is very successful, he earns a lot of money and often he also travels for work.
Luckily, we could say, because at least Lucia has a little bit of peace. At a certain point, however, Lucia remains pregnant and as usual, her body begins to change. And this, for Mari. And this is unacceptable for Mario Lini. The fact that Lucia is gaining weight, disgusts him, repulses him. Lucia's body disgusts him, he says it himself, despite the fact that he wanted this son. Yes, because Mario Lini got Lucia pregnant without even talking about it before
and this is because he had started to have some thoughts, to say the least, dark towards his wife he wanted to get her pregnant and then abandon her, as a punishment as a punishment for not being as thin as he wanted. But then, during pregnancy, Mariolini changes his mind and decides not to leave her. He decides that he really wants to have a family and he really wants to be a father. And as absurd as it may seem, after a few years Lucia gets pregnant a second time
and the two have a second child with everything that follows. Lucia, who gains weight, Mariolini, who is disappointed, who is disgusted by her, and after a few years, in fact, the two, fortunately, separate. And he will always say that it was he who left her for his own good, because he loved her and didn't want to hurt her anymore.
She wanted to save her. I met the first anorexics. My wife reached 33 kg, the lowest weight she had ever reached.
When she returned to 35-36 kg, I didn't like it anymore because I was used to her appearance at 33 kg and I couldn't accept it at 36 kg. And from now on, Marco Mariolini's behavior will only worsen more and more in ways that, believe me, you may not even be able to imagine. and enters this period of introspection in which he tries to understand his fetish, which he also gives a name, anoresophilia. He is called an anoresophilus, a person who feels a morbid and obsessive attraction to skeletal women, so he is absolutely aware of it.
The problem has become evident during adolescence and then in adulthood it has become a real obsession, a necessity, a real existential necessity.
I define myself as a non-racephalic.
The first and only existing example of a non-racephalic. And this is, for Mariolini, or at least it becomes a real obsession. He needs to have relationships with these women. As a result, he starts hunting, as he says himself. His first prey, and I call her that not to diminish her value, but because Mariolini is a predator in every way, is called Ulrike, who he actually met when he was still married,
because he obviously never had any trouble betraying his wife or going hunting while he was still married. He felt he was entitled to it, since his wife insisted on not being as thin as he wanted. Ulrike is a really, really thin woman, she weighs 25 kilos and is taller than his wife. And this comparison, by the way, with his wife, Mariolini will do it constantly, talking to Ulrike, he will constantly tell her how much she is thinner than his wife,
which he defines as the chick. Then there's Astrid, a 20-year-old woman, she weighs 28 kilos, but after a couple of relationships with Mario Lini, the relationship ends. Then she meets Roberta. She weighs 35 kg, but the relationship fails at birth. We don't know exactly why. Finally, she meets Sandra, a married woman who she meets while she is on vacation on the island of Elba,
and who he defines as the thinnest woman he has ever seen in his life. Sandra weighs 23 kilos and is 1.60 meters tall. For Mariolini, she is the most beautiful body he has ever seen, but she doesn't even want to be touched by him. And these women, Mariolini meets them a little everywhere, on the street, in the restaurants.
When he sees a very thin woman, he goes to her, approaches her and does everything to get her to go to bed. And when I say everything, I mean really everything. In the sense that at a certain point he starts to trample on them to find out where they live, so he can sneak into their house and take them by force in case of refusal. He is willing to do anything to have them. In the summer of 1992, for example, while he is in the car, standing at a traffic light, while driving the car next to him, he notices what he calls a a peephole.
That peephole would be a woman named Bianca, obviously, she's also very thin. Mariolini starts following her, he is immediately obsessed with her, he stops her, asks her for her phone number
and she gives it to him. He starts calling her constantly, courting her, but sometimes she shows interest, sometimes she refuses him. So he starts to stay at her place, and he does it for months. Until one day, on the doorstep of Bianca's house, she finds a necrology. Bianca is dead, and this is due to her illness, her food disorder.
This, however, does not shake up Mariolini, who soon after gets lost and becomes obsessed with another woman, who is also called Bianca. Bianca is also very thin, she weighs 28 kg, she is very young and is seen, she is spotted for the first time by Mariolini while walking down the street.
When Mariolini sees her, he blocks her, changes direction, he starts following her because he wants to see where she is going. Bianca goes to the bar in the village, we're in a small village in the Bergamasche valleys, and sits at a table. So he sits at the table next to hers and orders a white wine.
Bianca, on the other hand, orders two brioches and a cappuccino. And after having practically swallowed them, she orders two more, swall eats them in a few seconds. Immediately after, Bianca gets up and goes to the bathroom. There's no need to tell you what to do. And Mariolini is completely fascinated by all of this,
so much so that when she gets out of the bathroom, he offers her a coffee. She accepts it, and when she gets up and leaves, they say goodbye, he follows her, thus discovering where she lives. Mariullini waits for Bianca to enter the palace and immediately after, she wears a mountain pass and stands in her basement.
And when she is about to enter her apartment, he attacks her and drags her inside, forcing her to take off her clothes. But she is so scared that she gets caught by an asthma attack and crashes on the floor without being able to breathe anymore. Mariolini then takes off her mountain pass and runs to help her, and in way obviously she recognizes him. Fortunately she recovers, overcomes this asthmatic crisis to which he begins to cry, crying, explaining to her his despair, why he is forced to do what he does and inexplicably friends she feels sorry and makes him happy, goes to bed with him.
After having consumed the relationship, however, she puts him at the door, tells him she wants to be married and that if he should see her face again, somewhere, he would immediately report it to the police. And it is at this point that Marco Mariolini understands something. He understands that he no longer wants to have to deal with anorexic women anymore, in the clinical sense of the term, because he says, I'll refer to what he says, but then I'll tell you what I think, he says that the sick woman of anorexia refuses food, but at the same time she refuses anything, she refuses love and she refuses sex, and therefore a relationship with an anorexic woman cannot work, he refuses everything. He refuses love and he refuses sex.
And so, a relationship with an anorexic cannot work, he says.
I don't want anorexics anymore. I want a stable companion who, in addition to liking me sufficiently, is also one I can trust.
He wants to find a healthy woman, but very thin, who, possibly, with his help, can lose a little more weight. But I'll tell you the real reason why, probably, Mariolini doesn't want an anorexic woman anymore and prefers to have a healthy one, convincing her and forcing her to lose weight. The reason is simple.
Mariolini is a sadist. He doesn't like only skinny women, he likes to dominate, to be big, to be above. The anorexic woman, in the clinical sense of the term, is skinny because she wants it. Then, I know it's much more complex than that, but what I mean is that it's her illness, it's her disorder, it's something that somehow starts from her. And so for someone like Mario Lini, what's the point? What's the point in making a person lose weight who wants to lose weight, who wants to be sick?
A sadist only feels pleasure if the other doesn't want it. Only if he really suffers. A sadist could never be with a masochist. Because the masochist enjoys suffering and this cancels the sadist's power. And in the same way, Mariolini doesn't get enough pleasure from being with an anoressic because he needs a healthy woman that he can dominate, that he can shape, that he can force her to lose weight, to make her suffer, to completely bend her at his will.
This obsession is becoming, moreover, dangerous, really totalizing, and in addition, Mario Lini is also caught by recurring depressions. He decides to turn to a psychologist, to whom he says he asked for help to solve his problems, so he tells her everything about his paraphilia,
and he even asks her if, in her opinion, he can get a IV to solve the problem. So he would like to get his genitals removed to solve his obsession. But from what he refers to, this psychologist has never known how to help him. Subsequently, he decides to turn to a psychiatrist, who, after listening to him, prescribes him some psychotropic drugs. These drugs, by the way, make Mariolini fat and make him gain 20 kilos.
But for him this is not a problem at all because he requires extreme weight loss only from his women. He can fat easily. But besides fattening him, these drugs do not solve anything. We arrive in October 1994. Mario Lini at this point decides to take advantage of another means to know his victims. The ads on the newspapers, which at the time were very widespread.
On the newspaper he publishes this announcement here I am a businessman of good economic position and I would like to meet for the purpose of cohabitation or marriage a girl between 18 and 50 years old who is really very thin, indeed skeletal. Among other things, he makes us laugh that he talks about cohabitation because he is looking for a woman to live with, despite this point he still lives with his ex-wife, with his wife and two children. He separated from his wife Lucia, but they are separated at home, that is, they still live together.
Anyway, about 20 girls answer this article, and with some of them Mariolini also has some passing relationships. But there is one, one that strikes him more than any other. One that will never leave his mind. Monica Caló.
Monica Caló was born in 1971. She is a student of the Faculty of Logopedia of Padova, and she is from Domodossola, and she is 23 years old. Monica is the first of three brothers and has always been a responsible girl, without any grudge, in fact she never gave particular thoughts to her parents. Monica is an ordinary girl, she grew up with her mother, Anna-Lisa,
and with her mother's partner, Rosario, who raised her as a father and with whom she has a great relationship. Monica is a very strong girl, she is strong, balanced, and from the outside no one, neither friends nor family, can imagine that inside herself she feels very fragile and insecure. Monica, in fact, when she reads that ad, the ad of Mariolini on the newspaper, is shocked. She doesn't even know why, but she is curious about it. She has never felt particularly appreciated, yet she feels that she can be desired and appreciated by Marco Mariolini, and so she calls him.
The two meet for the first time on October 12, 1994 at the Padova station, and Monica, tries to understand how fragile she is, how plasmable she is, and when she feels she can do it, she opens up a bit to her, revealing her sexual tastes. And, in her own words, Monica is not bothered by this, on the contrary, she is very curious.

For Mariolini, Monica is the perfect prey. She is thin, weighs 54 kg for a height of 1.72 m, of course we are still far from his standards, but she seems willing to give up, to let herself go, to give herself. And this, for Mariolini, is more than enough. She will surely be able to bend her will, to convince her to lose weight for him.
Also because it is Monica herself who tells him. She gives him something intimate, something that for him is like an open door. She has no good relationship with her body or with food. She says she would like to lose weight, but she can't. Sometimes she says to make a fast, other times she eats and then vomits. She also lives with a food disorder.
A not serious food disorder, in the sense that we are not yet at the level of the women with whom Mariolini has come out in the past, but it is enough to be vulnerable, enough to be manipulated. And in that inner conflict, in that fragility, Mariolini sees her possibility, she sees an open door, the possibility of controlling her, taking advantage of her fragility.
The two then begin to date and Monica finds herself very soon in the middle of a toxic relationship, because Mariolini, even her is violent and abusive, betrays her, goes out with other women and also has still relationships with his ex-wife with whom he still lives. But slowly Mariolini becomes obsessed with Monica and she becomes his only object of desire. We arrive in June 1995. Mariolini and Monica have been dating for 6-7 months
and he has finally closed the relationship with his ex-wife Lucia, even if they continue to live under the same roof. From that moment on, Mariolini starts to put pressure on Monica to go live with him. Mariolini can't stand a second without Monica, he needs her around day and night. The only solution to this requirement is to go live together. Once, Mariolini brings up this topic even in front of his ex-wife and his children,
because, I repeat, they all live under the same roof, so when Monica goes to Mariolini's house, she has to stay with them too. In this situation Monica replies that she doesn't feel ready to live with him, she is still young and she doesn't feel it. So, Mariolini, in front of his ex-wife and his children, hits Monica, throwing a series of punches and kicks at her, while she, lying on the floor, can't do anything but cry.
And five days later, Monica accepts and the two go to live together. It's hard for me to tell you this dynamic, friends, because it's really complicated to understand why Monica allowed all this. You know I always love to explain to you what's behind the most absurd mechanisms of manipulation. Because it's too easy and a bit superficial to say,
why didn't she leave her? Why didn't she run away? Why didn't she leave her? Why didn't she run away? Why didn't she rebel? And I say this to the female only because in this case the victim is a woman, but you know that all this also applies to the male. It's hard to accept, but sometimes a person consciously chooses to stay in a situation that hurts her, a situation that is clearly abusive, destructive and wrong. And yet it remains, but you know it by now, our brain is as fascinating as it is scary and it is incredibly complex. And as I mentioned before, Monica's fragility is much deeper than she herself or anyone close to her can imagine.
Because Monica not only goes to live with Mariolini, but she supports him day after day in this sick obsession of wanting her to be thinner and thinner.
Our mistake started when, in a completely complicit way, we decided to combine our pathologies. For years, she wanted to be much thinner without being able to, and I would certainly have been even more attracted to her if I were thin.
Maybe, to really tell this dynamic, I could use a precise term, which is folie à deux. Folie à deux is a very rare psychological disorder in which two people share the same delirium, the same distorted thought. Usually it works that one of the two is dominant, is stronger, is more persuasive and is the one that transmits the delirium to the other, which is usually more fragile and more influencible and if you think about it, it is the perfect description of Mariolini and Monica. We are used to hearing about
folia de in contexts in which a couple kills together. I have told you several cases of the kind. I think of the Moors Murders or the infamous couple nicknamed Barbie and Ken. There, the shared delirium was to take other people's lives and other various things.
In the case of Mariolini and Monica, instead, the shared delirium is something else. It's the desire to make Monica suffer day after day. It's the slow consumption of it, and the desire to make Monica suffer day after day and to consume her slowly, which in a way is another way of taking someone's life, if you think about it. The two go to live together in an apartment of his property,
above his antique shop in Clusane, on the lake of Iseo. And once at home together, Mariolini becomes more and more suffocating, becomes more and more controlling and she comes to tell Monica things like, if you wanted to leave me, you should kill me and if you disappeared, if you left me, I would look for you all over the world and if I didn't find you, I would look for your parents and your brothers.
