with my favorite cleaner and Scott shop towels. Then I sanded off whatever finish this piece still had, which wasn't much at all, so it came off pretty quick using 120 grit. But it did reveal how bad the water stains truly were. So to improve these, I applied an exolic acid and hot water solution all over the entire piece, scrubbing lightly with very fine steel wool. To neutralize, I wiped it all down

with a baking soda and water solution, and look at those fizzies. This step is a must when using exolic acid if you want your top coat to adhere properly. Now here's a secret pro tip. Take your a shop towel will help retain the vinegar solution since tinfoil doesn't absorb anything.

Next, I applied one coat of a medium brown wiping stain. I let it sit for a minute or two and then wiped off any excess.
