Japan Just Said What Investors Really Think About Mark Carney

Welcome back to Moose on Loose.Today, we've got the Japanese ambassador on CTV telling Vassy Kapelos, Japan wants our oil, but there's a problem.Japanese investors, not a big fan of Mark Carney's nine bad laws.We've got a bunch of other stuff here.Let's jump into this.Starting this episode off from CTV National News, we have local indigenous group upset over not being consulted on Canada's new nuclear strategy.

That's right.They need to be in on the loop.Now, the first question I would ask our First Nation groups experts in nuclear technology.I'm going to go on a limb here and say probably not.The Sanguine, Obijiwan Nation are frustrated they weren't consulted about Canada's plan to support construction of 10 nuclear reactors across the country.Of course, they all want to cut.

They want to cut to the cake.That's all this is.We also got this one here.According to Bloomberg, Canadians are said to support Mark Carney's management of the economy despite his first year as prime minister being linked to the weakest economic growth for the first leader since at least 1963.We have a graph of that here.Mark Carney's economic growth, which you can barely see is this little yellow sliver here going down.

Every other leader here is positive, including Justin Trudeau in their first year of office.But he's an economic genius.Don't worry, he knows how to negotiate with Donald Trump.You know how he does it?He doesn't talk to the guy, doesn't even show up.He doesn't even go into formal negotiations.

That's how he handles Donald Trump.Elbows up, right?Canadians got completely duped and screwed by this guy.We got Conservative Vincent Ho posting this.23 .6 million barrels of IEA to alleviate the global oil prices.They lied.

No legislation, no action, no Canadian strategic oil reserve to speak of.It's all a liberal illusion.National Post with this.Feds admit they haven't enacted any policies towards advancing the promise to release 23 .6 million barrels of oil.The carny Liberals lied to Canadians again.Just outright lied.

They don't care.There needs to be some sort of penalty for this against the government.Outright lying all the time.It's got a hand.Now moving ahead, we do have this.It says NATO B1.

giving Canada's global eye gamble a major boost.Alliance buying 10 early warning aircraft built on Bombardier jets.So a small win for Canada.Is this going to move the needle nationally?No, but it's a small win.We also got this one.

Kingston high speed rail link could cost three point nine billion, report says.There's talk of moving the high speed rail to go over to Kingston, then all the way up.And this would cost taxpayers across Canada an extra four billion dollars.How about we scrap the entire project?If these cities want to do this, then they should get together and pay for it themselves.Every city involved, they pay their share.

Go ahead, build your high -speed rail.Moving ahead, we've got the Japanese ambassador here talking to Vassy Kapelos about, well, doing business with Canada.And while he stays pretty neutral, he basically calls out the problems with Canada.You could point to the nine bad laws that Daniel Smith has referenced.That's essentially his message here.

What do you think sort of challenges that, if I may be flunked, like infrastructure and also regulations, red tapes.

Red tapes.I'll decipher a bit what he's saying here.So he's mentioned on infrastructure regulations, red tape.Japanese companies saying this, they want to do business here, but they're worried about liberal net zero nonsense.

And coordinations.Sometimes coordination between federal government and provincial governments, tough.But at the same time, I'm askingprovince.Provincials, the coordination may not be easy.

He mentions provincial and federal coordination.Obviously, this has to do with David Ibi, British Columbia, Alberta, the federal government's not working together.This is getting around the world.Japanese investors want to invest here and well, they can't.They don't feel comfortable because of the nine bad laws, Carney's net zero.

We have to work together with indigenous people very diligently because those four elements are always tough.But I see the change being going on, and especially Prime Minister Kearney visited British Columbia last week and had the announcement of the pipelines.That is addressing those four challenges in very actual ways.So we see the improvement.But if those challenges being met, enormous potential will be fulfilled.

One thing that's not being mentioned is who's paying for Pathways project.Is it $10 billion of taxpayer money so Carney can have carbon capture to boost his own shares in Brookfield Stripe, etc.?Still not talking about that.

Let me jump off where you just led me, which is the possibility of a new pipeline being constructed and carrying crude.Traditionally, Japan has not been able to receive a lot of Canadian crude oil because of the type of oil that it is and a lack of ability to refine it.It's a very heavy product that requires a very specific way of refining it.Do you anticipate that changing?Do you think Japan is going to be able to receive and be a willing customer of more oil if it should go to the West Coast?

That is a very good question.But to be very frank with you, before this pipeline, there's not so much potential, I mean, possibility that Japan imports Canadian crude oil, because lack of infrastructures.All those oil exist in Alberta, basically.But most of the oils you exported was to the United States up until recently.But once you have the pipelines, you have the facility to export your oils to Asia, then that's a totally different story.Besides, close to 90 percent of our crude oil is from Middle East.

So he said 90 % of their oil comes from the Middle East.They want to get off of that because of, obviously, this Iran war.The real question that should be asked is why doesn't Canada build a refinery, refine the oil and sell a finished product for even more money, just like the Americans do?They take our crude, refine it, make $200 billion a year off of it.Why aren't we doing that?

Talking about the geopolitical risk or certain difficulties or what if the oil our whole mood straight being closed.Then we have to think very differently.We have to have the diversification of the source of crude oil.And also, I told you, trust.Canada has trust.So now it's totally different situation.

On top of that, the technology can address to those quality or type of oils.

So he's saying technology can address the type of oil.It didn't really answer the question.

Does Japan want to buy more Canadian crude oil?

I would say it's better for us to diversify the source of crude oil, not necessarily just from the one part of the region, but from the world.And Canada has enormous potential.And access from Canada to Japan is very, very good navigation.Only takes 10 days.

So do you hear that?Japan wants to buy our oil.China wants to buy our oil.India wants to buy our oil.And you know what?He didn't mention, China didn't mention, India didn't mention, that it has to be low carbon.

Not one of these countries saying they want low carbon oil.That is not important toanyone except for Mark Carney, because he makes money off of it.Yes.

And we know that from some other resources that are moved that way.Yes, LNG.LNG, which I also want to ask you about.

So Canada has enormous intention to be energy superpower.And Canada sees Japan as a close friend.

So I wanted to also, Ambassador, ask you about a different industry that Japan is very integrated and involved in, and that's the auto sector.We spoke in our last interview about that.And what you said during that interview actually had a big impact on discussions we had later with other countries and just around the issue of trade, because you mentioned that one of the factors and a big factor that Japanese investment in Canada and the auto sector is predicated on is barrier -free access to the United States through the free trade deal that exists.Do you still feel that way?

Yes.But let me clear, I see five great advantages of the Canadian market economy.One, you are so rich in resources, including critical minerals, that is indispensable for the future.And labor quality, backed by the great immigration policies.And three, society has been so stable.and friendly to us.

And fourth, the generous support from the federal, local, and provincial governments, and access to the biggest market of the world.And so those five elements are equally important.But in the calculation of the businesses of any companies, Canada is a G7 country, one of the biggest GDPs, and 41 million people.It's not small.But south of the border, the United States, the biggest.and that the market matters.

But we see this situation of renegotiation or review process started with great tension.But I think the economic reality will always prevail.at the end of the day.

So they're watching this so closely because they know selling their cars from Canada into America is not good for them versus opening a new facility in say Texas?Toyota to build 3 .6 billion Texas plant shifts some truck production from Mexico This is from July 6.They're building a brand new facility to produce trucks in America.This is not confidence in Canada.This is confidence in America.Perhaps Mark Carney should actually show up and start negotiating a deal for Canadians, or maybe he should be thrown out of office.

Recently announced a $10 billion investment across the U .

S.Toyota Motor Manufacturing Texas will add a second assembly line to the Southside San Antonio plant, doubling their production capabilities.and creating an estimated 2 ,000 new jobs.This is the result of a 3 .6 billion -dollar investment by the company.

Stellantis, the owner of Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, and 11 other brands of vehicles, is investing $13 billion over the next four years to expand its manufacturing capacity in the U .

S.The Kentucky truck plant at Westport Road and the Gene Snyder Freeway.The state has approved support for a proposed $2 billion investment at the East End plant.The project would expand manufacturing operations on about 70 acres located to the existing plant.

A big announcement from General Motors.The company says it will invest $4 billion into U .S.plants.Automotive experts say it's a big boost for the industry and the UAW is responding.

Mark Carney doesn't love our country.He's not even trying.He's not trying to get a deal.He's not trying to save this industry.He just doesn't care about Canadians.Meanwhile, Carney's priority is what?

Luxury electric vehicles from China.

There's a new player in Canada's electric vehicle space.The Lotus Electra, a high -end luxury SUV made in Wuhan, China, has officially hit Canadian roads and it starts at $119 ,000.

We have seen that Canadian customers love SUVs, particularly big SUVs, and they are very focused on performance.

This is the first kind of Chinese -made EV for sale under a new agreement that will allow up to 49 ,000 Chinese -made EVs into Canada essentially tariff -free.Experts say these more expensive models offer companies higher profit margins to test out and establish themselves in the Canadian market.

There'll be some early takers, and then once that's established, then you'll start to see the less expensive options coming into the country.

So far, 2 ,910 Chinese electric vehicles like this fully loaded, top -of -the -line Lotus Electric EV have already been imported to Canada, and a handful of this model have already been sold.But the Chinese EVs have faced pushback and even calls for the cars to be banned from sensitive sites like military bases.

Yeah, no kidding.And what are they bringing in?A $120 ,000 Chinese EV?Mark Carney and his team, Melanie Jolie, they're saying, oh, they're going to be affordable, affordable Chinese EVs.And what do they do?They bring in the luxury Chinese EVs as the first thing.

Experts have privacy and national security concerns about the kind of data the cars can collect and potentially share with the Chinese government.

All cars are.computers on wheels and their massive computing devices.And by law in China.This state has access to that data.

It doesn't mean they will access the data, but it means they can should they choose to.The CEO of Lotus Group America says the cars comply with all government rules and regulations.

We disclose that to the government, everything that is related on our on our software, everything that related on our hardware, and we pass all the examination.
