Indeed.But speaking of Harry's, speaking of Harry's, Prince Harry.He's going to be staying at Buckingham Palace now, or is he?

I mean, this is beyond wild.To describe Harry's UK return as a hot mess or a public relations dumpster fire is an egregious assault on, like, you know, exaggeration.It is off the charts.So what we are hearing is that the palace was offered to Harry.months ago and that Charles and the palace authorities have been awaiting an answer and that there's a perfectly reasonable deadline of a week by way of notice should he wish to stay.And it's our understanding that the palace received no such message.

And therefore, with Harry arriving in the United Kingdom, the accommodation no longer available.Now the Sussexes are saying, this is the Sussex public relations machine, which is ruthless and relentless and never sleeps.And they're saying that an invitation was accepted prior to the week -long deadline.And the palace is saying that is not the case.So the first challenge for yourself, for myself and for our brilliant audience is, who do you believe?Because it is Harry and Meghan's word against that of the palace.

What on earth is going on?

As we record this episode, Harry is on a plane, on a jet, heading to the UK.

Do you think we could get it turned around?

I don't think so.

So yeah, we need to turn that plane around.But no, the bottom line is, as you say, he's flying into Britain.With nowhere to stay.Nowhere to stay.And it's shocking.Now, I mean, where to start with this?

So the Sussexes are effectively saying that the king is lying.Because when I talk about the palace authorities and the firm, it is the king.And that's not a great way to start the trip, is it?And the context to this is all of the to and fro, the circus that we've had about the armed royal protection.Harry saying that, you know, he's awaiting an answer, then it's kicked into the long grass.Then he says, well, then we're only going to come for a day, or we're not going to come to London.

So that was bad enough.But for the Sussexes to call Buckingham Palace liars is a new low in the relationship.

Well, I gather Harry had spoken directly to his dad, to Papa, and said to Charles, yes, I'd like to stay at Buckingham Palace.Thank you for the invitation.However, he didn't go through the official channels, which he's supposed to have gone through, whichever team speaks, whichever team, and have that booked in.But still, if that's the King of England, King Charlie boy could just turn to his team and say, you know what, we've actually got quite a few rooms at Buckingham Palace.Give him any of them.Just sort it out.

We don't need a week.We don't need a week to prepare what he's going to have.A bedroom, a living room.Fluffed up the pillows.Fluffed up the pillows.This is something that's going to take half an hour.

Send in five cleaners, take them from the East Wing, send them over there, have them sorted out.Is King Charles trying to get revenge against Harry?Because this is embarrassing for the Sussexes.

Some people are framing this as revenge, and those people have been taken in by the relentless and ruthless Sussex public relationship.which never sleeps.And I hate to say it because you're one of my dearest friends and you are an elite level broadcaster and journalist and they've got at you as well.And I cannot believe that you have been infected with what I call MMV, which is the Megan mind virus, which is worse than the woke mind virus.It's more toxic.Less curable.

So, no way!

I mean, you're hearing, right?

So your insiders are telling you that, you know, this was agreed over the phone between the King and Harry.

That's what we're hearing from the Sussexes.That's not coming from the King and Buckingham Palace.

So that's where we have a moment of conscience.I mean, JJ, you've been around the block, you've lived a life.Who do you believe?King Charles or Prince Harry?

Who can you believe?You know how many people comment on our videos, right?People comment on our videos, specifically the Monday episode that you and I do together.We get more comments on this episode than we do on the others during the week.

We love it, we appreciate it, and I go through and I reply to as many of you as I can do.This week, people have, or last week, people said that I have been stuck in the Sussex sewer, and that I am...I did wonder what the smell was.But I am a Sussex stooge.Alexandra Galassi gave a very, this made me chuckle out loud.Alexandra Galassi said, it will be interesting to see what happens with Ginge and Cringe in the next few weeks.

I've never heard them called that before.It's fantastic.

I would say I probably believe the King of And this is why we're friends, because you and I, notwithstanding the various journalistic headwinds that are presented to us, we both live in the real world.We've got common sense.And you just know that Charles is not going to play those games.And the other issue we've got is we don't have a long history of Charles lying about anything.We know that he's no angel.Of course, he had an affair whilst married to Diana.

He's a curmudgeon.He's short tempered.He's this, he's that.A liar he is not.And what about the Sussexes?Can you believe a word they say?

So I think it's a big problem and I think Charles will be furious about this.So revenge is wrong because what that is doing is somehow making Charles the villain of the piece, which is exactly what Harry and Meghan, I think, would like to do.Oh, and by the way, this is all material for their kind of pity party.You know, this is going to be going in the next book, isn't it?Spare two, this time it's personal.

And, you know, what they can immediately frame it as is, oh, you know, I felt so dangerous in London, you know, and therefore, you know, I would stay in the palace.I said yes, and Paul said no, yeah.

And I just, I just don't see how that's possible.And now you mentioned you're so right that they could fluff the pillows and it would take half an hour.But there is the matter of security arrangements.You're looking at police officers, that sort of thing.That needs to be done through the Home Office, which runs Homeland Security.So that's not an overnight thing.

And here's the point.It's rude, isn't it?If someone offers you accommodation, and you leave them hanging, and then you only at the last minute say, go on, then I'll take it.See, I think what's happening here, and of course, we've got to give Harry and Meghan the benefit of the doubt, OK?And their side are arguing, we accepted the invitation, but somehow that didn't feed through to the palace authorities, and there's been a misunderstanding.We have to accept that's their argument.

And we're fair on this show, that's their view.The audience in the end will decide.But notwithstanding that, the offer of accommodation.was such a generous, kind gift from the King.I mean, you remember when the news dropped that they'd offered Buckingham Palace.This was a coup for Harry.

Back on royal turf?Wow.And what they've done, the couple, notwithstanding who's telling the truth, is they have seized defeat from the jaws of victory here.Because this trip should have been amazing.Because it happened with Charles's blessing.Harry goes into Buckingham Palace, the optics of that, the boy's back.

The thing with Buckingham Palace, For our American viewers and actually everyone who's not living in the UK watching this across the world, any time of day between 8am and 8pm you walk past Buckingham Palace or drive past it, there's tourists outside those gates all the time just there taking pictures of it.They're taking videos of the guards as they're changing.For Harry to be going through the front gates there with a nice little escort, that would be perfect.

It's the ultimate flex.It is the ultimate dropping of the ultimate microphone.Yeah, isn't it?And of course, we won't have an official photo in the palace.It's not like he'd be on the balcony going.

Yeah.

But a glimpse of him in the bulletproof Jaguar.Yeah.And that zoomed in telephoto shot of Harry.And then what is the headline in the Express the next day?He's back.Yeah.

Or Harry's home.Yeah.Or what about the prodigal prince returns?

There is a guy at the Express that does the headlines, he's called Ray and he's not great.And the reason why we can't afford to fix the coffee machine is because of his lack of, I would argue, hard work and talent.Both of those things are missing.But what it is with Ray, he's been here so long and these so -and -sos are hard to get rid of.

Unions, mate.It's an HR nightmare.

So what we're doing here on the Expresso is we're propping up the business model of the whole venture, which I don't feel is recognized.When I walk through the office, I don't think the respect is there.There's a lot of tutting.

Correct.Yeah.Yeah, they don't like us.We have this little small part of the core.

What it is that they are success threatens them.But we will win.

I'm dying here.

We're going to make this company the biggest media company in the world.

This is why I think about Harry and this whole situation.Harry is at war with the royal family again.He was before when he when he left and he did the book and then he did the Netflix documentary and then they've tried to get the way back into it.There's no way, and of course, my parents are like kings and queens, but there's no way I would return from a different country to see my mom and dad, and my mom and dad say to me, oh, you can't just turn up, you've got no fee to stay.It's like, I'll sleep on the floor, that's all right, it's not a problem, I'll stay on the floor, it's fine.No, no, no, no, no, you can't, it's not gonna happen.

This feels like this has reignited the feud all over again for me.

It most definitely has, and it's toxic.Before, it was a circus with Will he get the armed security?Won't he?

It was unfortunate.

It was negative headlines.But this is one side calling the other side liars.And there are echoes of the Kardashian Rao, if you'll remember, last winter.Yeah, and what happened then is that Harry and Meghan appeared at Kris Jenner's 70th, and she's an amazing lady.She's the matriarch of the Kardashian clan, and it's her big day.And of course, what do the Sussex do?

Make it all about them.So they requested that photographs at that birthday bash were removed from the official Instagram.And Harry and Meghan's people let it be known that the couple had filled out a form on the invitation, which is a permission form.Can we publish photos of you at the event?And they let it be known.They said no, which is why the photos were then later withdrawn having been published.

Well, the Kardashians came back and said no such form was on the invitation.So we've been here before.So again, who do you believe?King Charles in the palace or the Sussexes?Who do you believe?Kris Jenner?

And Kim Kardashian, who's a good friend of mine, and I've admired her work online for many years.What an actress, by the way.I mean, Meryl Streep, eat your heart out.If you haven't seen Kim Kardashian's movies online, I don't know why she's not on the big screen.

Actually, that would be a big screen.Can't fit a derriere on the big screen.I find her videos highly educational.Okay, King Charles isn't even staying at Buckingham Palace.Charles is staying at Clarence House.So why can't Harry just go and stay with his dad at Clarence House?

The security's already in place.He doesn't need a chef.Just put some ham and chicken rolls in the fridge for him.The kids aren't with him, Meghan ain't with him.He can just go there, stay in his dad's house.Security's already there.

Sweet.That's it.

Why can't he just do that?You are so right.And you've spoken common sense.And Harry's, you know, he's got, he's got none of that.And I think one of the reasons why, why they don't adopt a simple solution, because for example, they could have taken a pied -à -terre on the Windsor estate.and it's secure, and it's royal property, and all the places there are extremely grand, including Frogmore, by the way, which, of course, they expensively refurbished.

And the reason why they've not gone for your common sense solution, JJ, the reason why this hasn't been sorted out with one polite email is because Harry wants to be a crybaby.He wants attention.He wants to make the noise.He wants to perpetuate the victim.narrative, he's addicted to the circus.He's as bad as Megan now.

We always say on this show, don't we, that Megan, in my view, is the one that shows narcissistic personality tendencies.But bless her, Meg's right.At least it's out there.It's open.It's nakedly obvious.Harry's just as bad.

So what we're seeing here with all of this is his ego, crybaby, spoiled so -and -so.No one's ever said the word no to him.And I'm in a really good mood today, JJ.Not just because we are together with the unique chemistry that we both enjoy, which is not just professional, is it?

I feel that it's not just professional.We're friends.

I think there's a carnal undertone to it, which we're never going to explore.Never say never, unless something happens like a war.And then we may have to, you know what I mean?In extreme circumstances, maybe desert island, you're going to sashay over to me on a, in a, in a straw dress, handcrafted.Right.We need to get it.

The irony is we've got so much to get through.Yeah, no, no, no.And by the way, you poor thing, you've got the rights full with the flu at the moment, aren't you?My wife has made me sick.God bless.Yeah.

Well, that's exactly right, and that's a tragedy for the King.So not only is he effectively being called a liar by the Sussexes over the accommodation offer, or at least the firm, he will be deprived of seeing Archie and Lily.And for the sins of the Sussexes, Charles is a kindly old man that has affection for his youngest son, which shows how forgiving he is, and craves time with grandkids.Charles is an older man.He's in his 70s.He's in great shape, notwithstanding his cancer diagnosis.

And his big fingers.

He's got...They call him Sausage Fingers, don't they?They do.They are...A piano player he's not, wouldn't you say?But this guy, so bless him, you know, I'm really fond of...

We're harsh on Charles, but not his character, you know.I think he's a really decent man.What my concern is, is just the backbone, you know, the willingness to stand up to his son.But the reason why is because...And you've got a lovely boy, you know, we're compromised by...And I've got two.

I'm not so keen on the younger one.what it is with him.He's not special.He doesn't pop.It's just, you know what I mean?We spend time with him and then you immediately forget the encounter.

But it's that white noise.So here's the thing, right?So He's a kindly old man.By the way, 76, 77?That's not old.But he's later in life.

And when you do get older, you realize that things aren't forever.So this is, you know, the ultimate cruelty of the Sussexes is to prevent Charles from seeing his grandchildren.And this is gonna hurt.I mean, I think Charles must be, Charles is gonna be in a very dark mood right now.

I guess so.Like, OK, we can all say Harry was coming here to launch Invictus for Birmingham.But really, this trip was about unveiling the kids, showing the kids faces and having Charles see the kids and get a nice little photograph with the kids.That's what this trip was really about.And that's all gone.That's all gone.

You're right.And it's just, you know, the Sussexes, they just they bring bad headlines.They bring a circus.They bring misery.

Do you think it's unfair that they weren't granted security?

Well I'm in a right pickle about this because you know as well as I do on this show we're pretty forthright.

Yeah.

But this is one where I'm like so complicated and the reason I say that and I know that our viewers will be furious with me.

Yeah they will.They don't think we should be paying a single penny towards Harry and Meghan's petition.

I respect our audience because in the end it is always the people that decide.And I understand you know taxpayer money to provide security for two people that didn't just give up their royal duties and therefore they've got no legal right to it, but actually attack the institution from overseas for money.So I get it.But the circle that I cannot square is that there are threats naturally to any celebrity, but particularly the son of the King of the United Kingdom.And yes, Harry can leave, move to America, but you'll always be the king's son.And I just don't want anything to happen to him or the family.

And of course, even if there were, let's say there were some attempt, which was unsuccessful.Can you imagine how Harry would like leverage that?I mean, that would be that's probably the dream scenario for them is a some sort of thwarted incident that could have happened.I mean, Megan will just be dining out on that for years.Because do you remember their near catastrophic car chase in New York?

Yeah.

I mean, you've got, you know, you've got connections to New York.Have you ever seen a car go faster than 11 miles an hour in New York City?

Yeah, I think they were claiming it was like a 40 mile per hour chase.That ain't happening anywhere in New York.

There's traffic lights every 11 seconds.Yeah, it's famously gridlocked.locked all the time.

Yeah, yeah, that is true.

What do you think?

You're a bit tougher on this than me, aren't you?I am.Look, last week it was revealed, a report commissioned by the US private security company that Harry uses, they said that they found at least six terrorist plots, five of which originated here in the UK, including dozens of threats from al -Qaeda against Harry.So I think on that basis, they should perhaps be given that protection when they come.And because we gave that protection to Taylor Swift, who has no real connections.

Well, you know, this is why but it's hard, but I actually going to really look at the comments today because I really want to know what the audience think.Because, you know, I think there is there is a flip side to this, which is maybe the real world answer.And as I mentioned to you last week, I spoke to Ken Wolf, who was responsible for Diana's security, her main bodyguard, and a guy thatalso told me recently that if he'd been looking after Diana in 97, she'd still be with us.He said if she'd had the proper British security, she'd still be with us.So that's fine.

And Ken said, look, nothing is going to be allowed to happen to Harry and the grandchildren when they're in the UK.And he gave me the impression that effectively they will get the security, but politically you can't say that they're getting it.That's the point where the taxpayers are like, well, wait a minute, why are we paying for this?They left.So what you would have is unofficial armed royal protection.Why is that of no value to Harry?

Because it's not the public victory, you know, and it's not the cop cars and the blue lights.So that's the other thing that Ken said to me is he said, it's, it's about the court of Prince Harry, the entourage, the seven car cavalcade, the police outriders, which is a theory that I've had and shared on my show and shared with you.That was my impression because I think that Harry's as much of an egomaniac as Meg's.But there you go.You've heard it from the horse's mouth that there's no way that he will come to harm on British soil.We pray not.

But like you, I mean, this is where I'm not black and white about it.So I think I seek to be actually educated by our audience, our viewers of what they think.
