Hello, everybody.Welcome to That's Football.I'm Mark Goldbridge. This is your latest football transfer news, and we're talking Liverpool's first signing. In fact, time to play the game.Who do you think your club's first signing will be?

0:13

Because there are lots of things.Man United. We've got Edison.Real Madrid, Canate. What do you think about that, Liverpool fans?Did Canate play you or did Liverpool just get rid?

0:22

Interesting that they've got Canate and Dumfries.Barcelona are doing stuff. The World Cup starts a week on Thursday.I think teams are moving quickly, purposely, because it's a very competitive market and the World Cup is going to take up a lot of the summer transfer window. But let's start off with Liverpool, because very interestingly, Iriola obviously appointed.I think this is an exciting appointment for them, of course.

0:45

But Fabrizio Romano has been talking about Liverpool's potential first signing being, you know, decided in the next week. And it could be, well, there's three names I think worth mentioning, but Yan Diamonde, this is the latest.Liverpool are in negotiation with Diamonde's camp.Liverpool are on it for sure.PSG are on it as well. They're speaking with the players camp.

1:05

They have genuine interest in him.So the battle is on.I can tell you the preference on the player side is to get the deal done fast before the start of the World Cup so he can focus on the World Cup without having to think about about this.So those two teams, Liverpool, PSG, they will be trying to accelerate the deal before the World Cup, and it will depend on Leipzig. It's never easy to negotiate with them, but Liverpool and PSG are both working on it.And this is an enormous deal.

1:32

It's an enormous deal in a very, very short period of time. But we, look, Man United dealt with Leipzig, with Sesko last year. It's not easy. They will want good money. But this is the replacement for Mo Salah.Liverpool have to make a statement here and there isn't...

1:48

I always felt for a long time Elisey was the replacement for Salah, but you look at Liverpool's trajectory last season and Bayern's trajectory and it's just not going to happen. The money it would take, it's just not going to happen. So you've got to look elsewhere.it's not an easy market to go and replace Salah. And nobody replaces Salah, let's be honest. You're not going to replace one of the greatest wingers in Premier League history very easily anyway.

2:09

And in a way, Diomonde does make a lot of sense for Liverpool.

2:28

The battle will be interesting because PSG is a fantastic side going for three Champions Leagues in a row next season and a little bit less pressure because it's an easier league. The Premier League, it's Liverpool.

2:38

I think his dad's a massive Liverpool fan.So will Iriola's first signing for Liverpool be Diamonde? And I mentioned this a few days ago as well.I think it's really important for Liverpool that they moved quickly because they certainly didn't move quickly on moving Slot out.

2:53

As I said, I feel that this time last week Slot was still going to be the manager of Liverpool next season, something changed very quickly and they've acted.

3:01

Diamonde under somebody like Iriola is an intelligent move, he's a very talented player, he's still very young, but you look at what Iriola's done with young talent at Bournemouth, systematically expresses those players, so I think that Diamonde makes a lot of sense and there'll be a lot more patience with that.Tough deal to do.Expensive deal to do.Real competition with PSG as well.Would you be happy with Yan Diamonde coming in as the replacement for Salah?Let us know in the comments there.

3:32

Can happen. And I think it's really interesting that he wants it resolved before the World Cup.Look, I'll go back to Benjamin Sesko.

3:40

He was rumoured to be leaving Leipzig every summer.before he actually did.So in Leipzig's defence, they might say, we don't want to sell him anyway. We want to keep him.So it's going to be very interesting to see what happens there.I also think with Liverpool, before they

3:55

about Morgan Rodgers and Arsenal and the left -back situation and a couple of other clubs this morning or afternoon, whenever you're watching it, I would keep an eye out on Adam Wharton and Alex Scott. The feeling is that Adam Wharton might stay at Crystal Palace, Europa League, didn't get in the England squad, might stay at Palace for another year. However, Liverpool are still the favourites to sign him. Now, has that changed with the acquisition of Iriola?Because Adam Wharton is going to cost what? What would Adam Wharton cost?

4:26

I don't know.60?70?I don't know. It's a very competitive midfield market. And in one way, Elliot Anderson not signing for Man City yet makes it better for clubs to make a move for people like Adam Wharton and the player I'm going to mention next because Crystal Palace can't say, well, Anderson's gone for 100 million, so we want 80.

4:46

They can't do that because it's not happened. So it might be the right time to move on people like that.Obviously not playing in the World Cup as well. But I would keep an eye out, unfortunately, on Alex Scott. He's doing major, majorly impressed Tuchel.I think Tuchel spoke about him today.

5:02

He's part of the World Cup standby squad with Rio of Liverpool, actually. And Tuchel said, look, it's very close.I nearly took him to the World Cup.He's really impressed me. I think he's going to play for England at the weekend. And look, obviously, former player of Iriola at Bournemouth. And you would think, well, he will be cheaper than Wharton.

He's only got two years left on his contract.Apparently, he's not going to sign a new contract.Bournemouth going through the transition of a new manager. If Alex Scott says, look, I'm not going to sign the new contract.I'm very close to the England team.I want to play for a bigger club because my time is now.

5:44

Bournemouth are not really the club that goes, you're staying in Bournemouth. So I think this could be a really longdeal. Now, I want Man United to make this deal. There might be other clubs that want them to do it, but Iriola managed Scott and he's now at Liverpool. And I think if you knock on the door and say, do you want to come to Liverpool?

6:00

He might quite fancy that because he's played with Iriola and it's Liverpool. So I would keep an eye on Alex Scott to Liverpool.I've been saying this on the United stand all week.I want Man United to move for him.I think he's a really, really good player.interesting profile of midfielder, got a good shot on him, but he's very tenacious.

6:14

He's good on the ball. He's quite quite tall for a midfielder as well.End to end, box to box, whatever you call it.He might be a more intelligent signing for Liverpool than Wharton now.Not saying Wharton's a bad player. But yeah, keep an eye on Liverpool.

6:28

Let me know your thoughts on their first signings.

6:30

Some other stuff to touch on in relation to Arsenal this morning. We've heard a lot about Morgan Rodgers leaving Villa, and I think there was an acceptance that that might happen.

6:38

But the Telegraph are saying that although Arsenal are interested and even Man United have been interested, there's no intention of selling the England international this summer. Is that true?Villa, you know, probably just diluting the story a little bit in the sense that for the last couple of weeks, it's been Morgan Rogers is going to leave Villa. You don't want that to be such an open door because that makes the price come down.Maybe maybe this is Villa saying we're not selling him when realistically, we are.they will at the right price.

7:07

And I think that right price is going to be north of 80 million. The strong position for Villarreal is that you'd probably like to keep a player like Morgan Rodgers, especially as they're going to be in the Champions League next year. But also he's playing in the World Cup, so that price could could get to a point where they make some real money out of him.So Morgan Rodgers, Arsenal need to bring in a left winger or another attacker anyway, don't they?Certainly, so it'll be interesting to see what they do.Also, Arsenal have been linked to Nathaniel Brown by The Athletic.

7:34

Eintracht Frankfurt left back, will be at the World Cup with Germany, still quite young, 22.He has been linked to Bayern Munich as well.Obviously, they would probably have an advantage because he's German and he's playing for Bayern. But Arsenal apparently are interested in him as well.Man City, look, they've not made their first signing yet. There's talk of Vardy going.

7:55

There's talk of Rodri going.Maresca, like Iriola, is new in that role.I think there was an expectation that Elliot Anderson may have signed by now.Forrest apparently going very high on the fee.Man City not comfortable with that.World Cup next week, big World Cup for Anderson.

8:11

And is that now a deal that doesn't get done until after the World Cup?I did expect that to happen before, but maybe that's going to happen afterwards. And as I said, I think that could be quite useful for.a lot of other clubs who are trying to buy midfielders, certainly Liverpool, Man United, maybe a couple of other clubs, maybe even Arsenal, because Elliot Anderson would be the big signing in the Premier League, and that would set a benchmark for everybody else.If that doesn't happen, that benchmark isn't there, so you can go about your business and maybe not get the price pushed up because they go, well, Elliot Anderson went for £100 million. That could be an opportunity for everybody else, like I say.

8:45

A couple of other bits as well.Obviously, this is quite big at the moment.Fernandes, West Ham, Fernandez, 21 -year -old midfielder, very well liked.Liverpool linked to him, PSG linked to him, Man United linked to him, Arsenal linked to him.Going to be very interesting because that could boost his price up as well.Decent midfielder.

9:07

The midfield market's really good in the Premier League this summer. We know Arsenal might be looking for a midfielder. And this is without mentioning people like Tenali as well.

9:16

You've got Wharton, Scott, Fernandes at West Ham, Anderson we've mentioned as well. You've got Tenali. So there's some good midfielders out there.

9:26

And it's gonna be very interesting to see where they all end up.But look, let me know your thoughts.Get your comments in.Make sure you smash a like and subscribe. If you're interested in the World Cup, by the way, I'm doing my second World Cup career mode this afternoon at 4 p .m.
