Man accused of attempted carjackings at Whitehall car wash

Surveillance video released by Whitehall Police shows a man getting into a car that isn't his, while someone is still sitting in the passenger seat.Police say 35 -year -old Doran Thomas tried to carjack three different vehicles, including this one at the Moo Moo Express car wash on East Main Street.In this attempt, you can see the suspect put the car in reverse while a victim was still outside the driver's side door.That's when people at the car wash stepped in surrounding the vehicle and forcing him out.His final attempt happened moments later when he jumped into another car as someone stood right next to it.He briefly got inside but quickly got out as victims stood their ground.

Witnesses say Thomas then ran from the scene.One person suffered minor injuries.

When officers arrived, they say that they spotted Thomas running away.The chase moved into a nearby parking lot where police say he briefly stopped near a cruiser before taking off again, running directly towards an officer.According to court documents, that officer drew his weapon after Thomas claimed he was armed.No officers were hurt.Thomas was taken into custody and booked into the Franklin County Jail.He is now facing charges including robbery, resisting arrest and obstructing official business.
